I took my car to PBS and Bob took a look at it, told me right away what was wrong and the cost would be $1400. I agreed to everything, BUT when I got my car back the bill was only $1175, not that I am complaining, but I asked him why the price difference, he explained to me he was able to get some of the parts cheaper and some parts did not need replacing, so he did not feel that I should have to pay the full costs. Just got my cylinder heads back that they rebuilt, now it has a leaky freeze plug. they told me they dont replace freeze plugs. I have a small Mobile Auto Repair business and every once in a while I need some light machine work done. I was referred to Bob at PBS Auto by someone who works at Autozone... One day I needed a valve job on a cylinder head so I took it to Bob on Cave Creek Rd in Phoenix. 8 DAYS LATER I was notified that it was finally ready and the price $425 because he had to helicoil/repair 8 bolt holes on the exhaust side of the head... I thought it was pretty expensive for a single 4 cylinder head but I said "OK"... I go to pick up the head the next morning at 11 o'clock and the shop is closed. I text him and he says he'll be back soon... 2 1/2 or 3 hours later he finally texts me saying he's there for me to pick up the head... I show up and pay cash (that's all he excepts BTW) I bring the head home and start installing it and realize that he helicoiled the oil pressure sender hole and with the wrong threads at that! So I go back to the pictures that I took with my phone and zoom in on all the bolt holes on that side, the threads are in perfect condition! I don't even know why he repaired the alternator bracket bolt holes, they didn't need it. Now I'm trying to adapt the oil sender pipe thread to 10mm. 1.25 thread... SMFH!!! So the bottom line, Bob basically did extra repairs just to jack the price up on me, then lied and told me that all the thread repairs were necessary. At $15 per thread repair, not to mention the hiked up valve job and mill cost. My point is, you can't trust this guy, and it would've been cheaper to buy a used head, have it shipped and it would've taken half the time with less aggravation and deceit. He told me to bring it back and he'd fix the oil sender threads, but I told him he'll never get my business ever again. read more

Bob lied to me,I paid well over the agreed price, I still have no rcpts for parts, a year later I still have not been able to drive the car I had in his shop.The first time I tried to bring it home it wouldn't drive over 60.It broke down w a horrible noise in the rebuilt engine. It took him MONTHS to get back to me.He didn't ever ask what happened or what the car sounded like. Finally he got around to looking at it and another few months later I had to put headlights and taillights in,still had no heater and still didn't drive over 60.These were specific things he was going to fix.He was supposed to go through the car & fix whatever was needed so that I could have a reliable running vehicle.Metal was in my brand new rebuilt engine.I've been driving Ty same wrecked up death trap I was trying to get out of by having this other car rebuilt.A yr later on a fixed income 5,000 dollars in the hole I have said car at another shop. I've been going to Bob at PBS automotive for over 20 years now he serviced all my cars he's rebuilt 2 of my boat motors there's nothing Bob can't do he's even worked on Porsche engines and cummins diesel tractor engines is the best mechanic I've ever seen his prices are great and even just last week he quoted me a price on changing an intake manifold gasket which took a lot of time and he quoted me 240 when I went to pick it up he charge me 175 because it was little easier than he thoughThat's how honest he is in his work and his business. And when you do get a quote start the job sometimes things change in the price may go up because you never know with automotives until you get in and start working on them if there's other things that are broken Bob will call you and tell you and go over the pricing with you he's just a great guy and great mechanic. For anybody that has an issue with Bob I'm really surprised and I'm sure it's not just black-and-white there's more to it I think we all know our cars are a pain in the butt. I was extremely disappointed with the service from pbs. I was recommended from a friend and that was my first mistake. My car is old, but in great shape. Its a 97 Ford Taurus with only 55k miles, driven by a senior couple for 15 years, and it was a friend who had all the maintenance done on time. I moved here from Pennsylvania and needed to get the emissions tested, it failed because the cam sensor wasn't working. Pbs replaced it and also replaced the check engine light. I didn't pass again because it wasn't synced. Pbs said they didn't know what to do so I went to AAA, they replaced the burnt out bulb and suggested I go back to Pbs because it should be covered under warranty. I went there and was told my motor mounts where bad and needed replaced, quoted $387.00 to replace. just went to another place, the cam sensor wasn't even plugged in and he told me the motor mounts are worn but don't need replaced! My recommendation is to stay away from PBS AUTO!!! read more

do not get any work done here. went to go have cam bearings done and after 3 weeks of having the block i finally got it back with cam bearings installed with no oil journals lining up with crank journals. he said he had to take it to another machine shop because the block was messed up, he did not take it no where. Bob needed more time to fix what he messed up iun the beginning. if you want your car running DO NOT i repeat DO NOT HAVE ANY WORK DONE HERE!!! thats fine if you need and oil change i would trust him to do that, but i would check everything when you get it back. there ought to be a law from someone like that to even work in a shop at all. read more
