He gave me his address and I took the laptop to him. Imagine my surprise to receive a video by text only 20 minutes later, telling me his diagnosis! The hard drive was kaput. He said he could install a new one for me and we discussed some options about buying one. As it turned out, I recalled that I had purchased an extended warranty which would cover a replacement. So he thanked me for my business and said I could pick it up anytime. He gave me the student discount because the laptop actually belongs to my grandson, who is in 5th grade. :D And at $62.50 I am exceptionally happy. I'm telling you, if I ever need any help with all the laptops in our family (which I maintain) I will definitely go to PPCS again!!

And was flexible with me to be able to meet at his house & drop off my laptop. The issue was the left side hinge that someone came undone. He left me know he needed to order some screws and the updated price. Once he had the hinge "fixed" he didn't like the way the laptop screen now "stuck out". So he brought a new screen/backing for my laptop. Since he was not personally happy with the way it looked, he offered to buy me a new/used latop. I never saw it with the "poked out" screen but I would have rather kept my laptop. He said he would take some time and research for laptops of my specified specs. So, I said okay. Please let me know what you find before making any purchases. A few days later he calls and tell me that he opened up my laptop, saw water damage, and now miraculousy my laptop NO LONGER WORKS. The screen does not appear - even with external monitors, just black. This was very disappointing and frustrating. Laptop worked fine before I dropped it off, with the exception of the hinge that came undone. Not sure why he didn't check everything (atleast turning it on/off) in the beginning. I even asked if he wanted the power charging cord when I dropped off the laptop. Still dont understand why he would offer a new laptop and then a few days later say my laptop doesnt work and he's not going to replace my laptop. I paid $170 for the service & to get my laptop back, that is NO LONGER works now. Ultimately, I had to purchase a new laptop. I've always been a PC user and recently decided to join this century and purchased a MacBook Air (which I LOOOOOVE, incidentally). I had it just about three weeks before it had a major accident...a rendered unusable sort of accident that I can hardly speak of without getting mad all over again. I thought it was not salvageable. I ran to the Apple Store in tears asking for guidance, and oh how they steered me wrong. They recommended a place called Kroll Ontrak way down I66. I drove out there with my machine and left it with them for three days to "analyze it," for which they charged me $65. They called me back once it had been brought back from "the clean room," whatever that is, and told me that they had taken the liberty of beginning the downloading process. I thought that was all really considerate until they gave me the quote for this service. And I choked on it. It wasn't much really; they only wanted my mercedes and my first born child. And there was no room for negotiation. None. So I took back my computer, paid them for their so called analysis, and was on my merry way. I turned to Yelp and found MACS in Alexandria---what a stroke of luck that turned out to be! I called and spoke to Will (the owner). I told him about the fate that had befallen my beloved MacBook Air and his response was, "no problem, bring it in." He was able to salvage everything: years and years worth of files, some new software I had purchased and coincidentally lost the disks for, all my emails, bookmarks and photos! On top of all that, he was able to then file it all away properly on my new MacBook Air. There were no "clean rooms" and there weren't any sort of mysterious processes like Kroll Ontrak had described to me. The best part was that he didn't want my car or my kid, just $125. SO, so reasonable. Later that day I had logged in to my new computer and remembered a question I had meant to ask him about something else unrelated. I called and he offered to fix it for me by logging into my computer remotely using TeamViewer (my old company used to use that software so I was comfortable with this--I know how it works). Talk about customer service! It wasn't even related to the original problem, it was just a question about a functionality on my computer. He just whizzed right around on it and fixed it with no effort. He also pointed out a great mac tutorial site to me so I could learn how to use my computer more effectively. SO NICE! I will not hesitate to use Mid Atlantic Computer Solutions again in the future. They are GREAT!!!
