I must say, I've become quite the "Chicken Tendies" critic as I've ventured around Jacksonville. Don't ask me why, I have ZERO explanation for this sudden obsession, but lately I've come to realize that not all Tendies are created equal. Enter PDQ. The Digs: Stand alone brick and mortar in upscale St. Johns County. I've eaten there on numerous occasions, and no matter what time of day I arrive, the expansive dining room is virtually spotless. The enticing aroma of fresh Chicken and crisp Waffle Fries being made to order will lead you to the counter with a sense of urgency. There's two Coca-cola Freestyle machines to ensure that no one dies of thirst. An abundance of tables and booths are situated to entertain a crowd, if needed. The Noms: Don't get me wrong, there's more to PDQ than just the Tendies (salads, milkshakes, etc.), however, my go-to order is the 4-piece meal with Waffle Fries and Toast. Up until my very first visit, I had NO IDEA how one thick, buttery, toasty piece of bread could be SO essential to this meal. If they ran out of toast I'd walk out and come back the next day, that's how dependant I am on this bread. The Tendies are fried to perfection, and elevated by my 2 dipping sauces of choice, Ranch and Honey Mustard. There's an assortment of sauces to suit anyone's taste, but those two are my besties, and I'm an unapologetic Ranch snob. The Waffle Fries are coming at you fresh out of the fryer, so you might want to wait a minute before you dig in, speaking from experience. And So: This particular PDQ is unquestionably my favorite "Tendies" spot in Jacksonville, by far. The service is quick and the staff welcome you with warm smiles and pleasantries. Wow! As I am a frequent customer of the PDQ chicken chains I must say I've had an experience unlike like before. While the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, I cannot say the same for the food. My coworker and I both got chicken tenders (one of the orders were spicy) with fries and we were greeted by the most absurd thing. Normally the "spicy" part of the chicken tenders are mixed into the batter, causing them to have a lovely flavor that melts in your mouth. However, this time, it was regular chicken tenders coated after being made. They were then placed on top of the fries with an extremelt salty seasoning that caused us to take the breading off to make the chicken as pleasant as it can be eating while a naked chicken tender. In addition, the plain tenders lacked flavor so it was two drastic ends of the spice levels. Quite the dilemma. The sweet tea and waffle fries were good. The sandwich was okay. But I'm really writing this review because of the service. The drive through moved really quick. However when I bit into my sandwich I noticed it was the wrong one. I went inside to let them know. I was told I was getting a new sandwich. They handed me a sandwich in a new bag. "You're the meaning in my life, you're the inspiration..." I've been living here for about 3 years now and have always passed by this place, sitting in the shadows like a shy girl at the dance. Well, this girl is ready to turn up 7 days a week! I would almost compare this place to another beloved chicken sandwich place, but there's something more personal about it, which makes me like it more. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Chelsea, who was the first employee that I encountered in my new "barnyard pimp" adventure. The saying about first impressions is very true because she left such a positive one that I'm sure I'm a customer for life! She gave me the skinny on how everything worked and not to mention all their house made sauces. I havseen her in awhile, so hopefully that exemplary employee is still there. Wonderful food and service and we pretty much go there as family every Sunday afternoon. The service is fast, and the food is fresh and well presented. I love the fact that they bring the food to our table ( unlike the loop ) and is a great blessing if you are with your family or a mom with kids. The restaurant has clean bath rooms and taken care of. Personally I am on health food streak and love the salads. Always a must go-to when we're in town. The chicken is consistently good. It is extremely quick. (Twice we have gotten the food before we finished paying). There is also a place to wash your hands in the middle of the restaurant, which is a pretty neat touch. The seats are comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the food is good. After a yelp event earlier this year, we've discovered a new favorite in the pimento crunch chicken sandwich. I also like the new sides PDQ offers that no other similar restaurants offer. Rice and beans, chile-lime kernel corn, tater tots, and zucchini fries is just a sample of their options. Of course you can never go wrong with the apples and toffee dip. PDQ has also introduced bowls and they have creative salads as well so there is something for everyone. The salads are tasty and somewhat larger than Chik-Fil-A but smaller than Zaxby's. The sauces are individually packaged and premium. The staff seems to be mostly high school kids but they are respectful and helpful. As with every and any take out these days; check your order, sometimes they forget a sauce. Whoever the genius is behind the Pimento Crunch sandwich, give that guy a raise! I've tried a lot of different items from this restaurant, but this is my favorite on the menu! Also, I love their apples and toffee. It's a different side, but it's delicious and healthier. Their fries are delicious, so I order the apples and take her fries when she isn't watching...it's a good plan! Their manager is awesome, and there seems to be a good work atmosphere for the employees. They all seem to enjoy their work, and I really appreciate that. I enjoy this location of PDQ. It's a little farther from my house than the one in Bartram Park but when I find myself in Julington Creek this location serves me well. The drive through line usually moves pretty quick and the service is great as it is at other locations. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The tenders are my favorite. I really like their tenders. I don't like too much breading and theirs has just the right amount. Their fries are fresh and cut almost to order. They do get a bit limp if not eaten quickly but that is true of most thin cut fresh fries. The zucchini fries are my newest love!! The serving is quite large so much that I have never finished an order by myself. The apples and toffee dip is pretty much addicting!! This is a great side or dessert no matter how you eat it, it is just lovely. Overall this location is pretty good and if your in the area and are wanting some good munchies check it out. FYI... My sister brought me to PDQ on one of my visits to Jacksonville. This location was not far from her home so we decided to go through the drive thru and pick up food before heading to her place. Now, I like chicken strips but it is something I order often. I generally find them bland and I love flavor. When we visited I ordered the chicken strips and zucchini fries. For my son we ordered chicken strips and fries. My son ate his chicken and fries with no problems. I thought the chicken was very good but those zucchini fries were awesome. It's been months since I came here and I still think about those zucchini fries. They were especially tasty dipped in their ranch. The ranch was also very good. The drive thru moved very quickly and the portion sizes were nicely sized. I really enjoyed my visit to PDQ and look forward to a return visit when I go back to Jacksonville. read more

Currently my favorite of fast food restaurants. Very happy they opened something in the Julington Creek area. I am giving the food 5 stars because I am comparing it to other fast food restaurants, such as McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's which all pretty much suck on my opinion. I get the Crispy Turkey sandwich which always comes out hot, juicy and seasoned well. This comes with pickles, lettuce, tomato and a 'sweet heat sauce'. I have tried the sweet heat sauce and I don't like it so I substitute Ranch on the sandwich or on the side. I get fries with the order which I dip in ketchup and they provide Malt Vinegar in the condiments section! Yay. The only other fast food/food fast place I have seen do this is M Shack. The fries are different then most fast food they are sliced thin and perhaps flash fried? I've also tried the crispy chicken tenders/strips and crispy chicken sandwich which are both good. I always leave filling full. I feel they provide plenty of food and the prices are comparable to Chik Fil A. They have tables and booths inside and covered outdoor seating. This place is pretty spacious and the food comes out fast! The turnover rate is quick so we never have to search for a seat even though the parking lot may be full. The bathrooms are very clean and smell of lavender and cream. They have a place to wash your hands inside the bathroom as well as right outside the bathroom across from the drink machines. They also have corn hole, the game where you throw sacks (with beans inside) into a wooden board with a hole in the middle. My friends love this game so we sometimes play when we leave. read more

Ive been to multiple locations and the consistency is amazing from the cleanliness of the restaurant to the friendly and professional staff to the freshness and quality of the food. This location didn't disappoint. We were basically there because this was the spot for a local hot rod show. We arrived and were both hot n hungry so we decided to grab a bite and beat the heat. The line inside was a bit long and with 80 cars and 100+ built in car show customers they likely could've benefited from having an extra register open. My go to sammich is the crispy chicken which includes lettuce n tomato and I always add avocado and cheese. Several options from regular fries to zucchini fries but i opted for tater tots which I just learned they carried. Add a bottled water and I was out for just under $10 bones. We had our prized pup with us so we grabbed a table on the covered patio. I was excited (briefly) to see they had ceiling fans on the patio until I asked the clerk how to turn them on and she replied "oh, those haven't worked for awhile." Note to mgr/owner, hard to imagine all 3-4 fans not working at the same time so it's likely a simple electrical fix or you can go buy 4 new fans at Home Depot for probably $500. We loved it. The garlic sauce is our favorite hands down. We also tried the corn side that is supposed to be their take on a street corn. It was good, but the softness of the corn wasn't a favorite.
