The difference was that I could use the class to paint my own item, if I liked, rather than just try techniques on wood boards, as some do. All supplies were included in the 3-hour class. APPROACHABLE STYLE: Answered questions patiently and thoroughly, demonstrated techniques and tricks, and offered advice while STILL asking your personal project preferences on color, wax use, distress level, etc. She was generous with her time and expertise -- which just makes me want to give her more business. There are actually 2 ReNew stores, one focused on home goods and decor type of items and the other is clothing, shoes, and smaller items. 100% of the profits from these stores goes directly to their program that helps women and children out of poverty and homelessness. This thrift store isn't like a Goodwill, not big, not "corporate" and so I feel that it's much more personable. Everything is tasteful and nicely organized and they even tell you it's "curated" on their website. ReNew sells new and gently used clothes, shoes, accessories, kitchenware and especially some nice sets of fine china (see pics), arts and crafts, card and board games, books, dvds, some smaller electronics and home appliances as well as upcycled home decorations, housewares, furniture, etc. They really do sort and quality control their items, as I can see that their new and gently used, high-end and name brand fashion are all high quality. Some of the items are kind of overpriced for what they are being used, but most items are at "low-thrift boutique" prices, and for a good cause so it's definitely a great place to shop. They have a list of items they accept for donations as well as what they don't accept. So this is a great place to shop to support as well as to give to if you have used items you want to donate.

It's really nice to just wander around and observe the beautiful plants and specialty trees. They currently have a sale featuring 50% off roses, which are in full bloom at the moment. In addition patio furniture is also 50% off. The mature trees range from hundreds to thousands of dollars depending upon cultivar, rarity, or variegation of foliage. This is a great place for large landscape specimens. You won't find six packs of annuals, they really specialize in trees, shrubs and perennials. The service was friendly, although I didn't buy anything this time, I was warmly greeted, and offered help to find anything. I'll be back once we finish our hardscaping and are ready for feature plants and large trees.
