Not only did Gerardo, get out of his vehicle to help us, he also dug up and washed the vase for us to put flowers at my grandparents grave. To do this, Gerardo had to walk to a water source that was farther away from the site because the water pipe near us was not working. He then brought over the clean vase and went to his truck to retrieve a brush so that he could clean the site. This was extremely helpful because we are from out of town and would have been disappointed if we were not able to see our grandparents. Thanks to Gerardo who came in a saved the day. I was at their home when she passed because I was helping to care for her. The owner came quickly after receiving the call and it was like 4 in the morning. They are a family business and they make you feel like family. I believe it was his beautiful cousin and partner, that did the musical selection and she had a beautiful voice. She also helped pass out buttons and the meal tickets for the repast. I think they did a really good with everything. My boyfriends relatives were buried everywhere here. The Bloody Martels on his mommies side and his grandmother on his fathers. It required two trips to this cemetery to clear away the trees and shit in order to even see them! It also required driving through and near deep ellum which upset his mother when she saw that so many houses were gone(even her childhood ones) and the old theater was in shambles. The cemetery, however, was more charming just the way it was. There's something about headstones hiding in a forest primeval that appeals to me and makes everything you see divine.
