Mystic's new American restaurant. Opened for less than a year, this Pearl of a restaurant certainly stands out in many ways. They present a unique blend of old & new school dining with their illustrious dining room & an elevated while freshly refined cuisine. Pearl certainly delivered a wonderfully romantic diner experience to me and my beloved. We came, we dined & enjoyed a wonderful time together. The only reason they fell just shy of a full five star is that they were clearly short staffed. Perhaps due to the holidays but it was clearly visible. However our server was indeed incredibly nice & had an extensive knowledge of the menu. 16oz Bone in Pork Chop Cooked beautifully, juicy and glistening served with creamy potatoes puree, a fig apple chutney, wilted Swiss chard and a balsamic glaze. Certainly an elevated pork dish worthy of five stars. Braised Short Rib Simply pull apart beautifully cooked short rib served with a nicely spiced chorizo rice, roasted brussel sprouts and a Smokey glaze. It's gorgeous! Staff is great. Food is very good. I was very surprised by my well done steak and egg whites. Seasoned perfectly. And the potatoes!! Yum. The drinks are very well thought out and have to potential to sneak up on you. I'm a sucker for places that have the owner in the building. Really gives a high end mom and pop a new meaning. Great newer spot! We were drawn in when we were walking through the downtown mystic parking lot and heard the music vibing from the downstairs "parlor." It was such a fun time I needed to bring my daughter back the next day for her 24th birthday. Along the way I also found the upstairs bar and the slightly lower but still vibing music for the more chill crowd. Been here 3 times now and will be telling our friends. Also a shout out to a few of the staff... First, the owner Moses who was hosting/ greeting everyone, then the lead bartender for remembering my drink when I returned AND for running upstairs to get my pomegranate so he could make my drink I like! It the small details that matter. Last but not least, Kayla not our server but kept us entertained while we were waiting. Will return and bring more friends! read more

Great new addition to the already hopping downtown mystic area. The uniqueness of the establishment is worth noting from the moment you walk in. Top tier staffing to greet you with a nice warm welcoming, is just the beginning of what I would refer to as an absolute perfect dining experience! From the provisions to the tipples and everything in between the chefs and bartenders are not just throwing food and beers together. Each plate as well as each cocktail is a work of art, not only pleasing to the eye but equally as appealing to the mouth and taste buds. The house made bread was a nice starter and the beats were freshly cooked and packed with flavor. Per usual we were app hopping so we only tried a few items from the appetizer menu and cocktail list. As we were deciding on choices, we were also getting to know a bit about all of the bartenders. You can tell instantly they are passionate about curating nothing but the best and will be continuing to experiment with new menus based on the seasons. I got to try an egg frothed gin drink that wasn't even on the menu yet and it was amazing. Also a coconut fat washed ginger Negroni? Say what? Never have I ever.... Nestled on the curve of Water Street, Pearl Provisions has easy parking in the lot right behind it. We grabbed two comfortable seats at the bar where proprietor Moses Laboy greeted us with a warm handshake and an impressive cocktail menu - I ordered The Fifty-Fifty Martini with a dash of orange cocktail bitters and Fords Gin, my go-to martini these days. My wife delighted over her drink- the Wallokosky: a luscious zucchini-based drink with gin and St.Germain, and a frothy topping, which she took care not to devour too quickly. We also ordered the baked oysters (delicious), the mushroom soup (to die for) and salmon for dinner (fresh, crispy, amazing). Had the chance to stop by last Friday night for dinner and drinks! The place is beautifully designed and the decor is upscale! We had about 4 different cocktails, all were delicious the balance was right on interesting flavors, not too boozy, and beautiful! The service was top notch! Everyone was very attentive and kind! We had the local oysters and tomato toast for starters, we then had Spicy Lobster Rigatoni and Cauliflower Trio! Great dishes the spicy Rigatoni was just right! Not too spicy 10/10. We also tried the Crispy Maitake which blew my mind! Since I'm not a huge mushroom kind of guy. TREMENDOUS! I would definitely try it again. I almost forgot the TOSTONES with that sauce!!!!!!!!!! This restaurant not only canceled my brunch reservation once, but TWICE. The first time brunch was canceled (about 2 months ago), they followed up with an apologetic phone call. This time- on MOTHER's DAY- I get a last minute canceled Resy notification which left my family and I scrambling to find another place to eat. No phone call, followup or apology. Not how I wanted to wake up on Mother's Day morning. I can understand the first cancellation, but the second? On a holiday? Unacceptable. On a side note, we've eaten here once before and it was unremarkable. Do not give this place your business, there are so many other great restaurants in Mystic. read more

First time here. Incredible food. "Yahtzee" was a gem of a server. She expressed such exuberance for the food and made excellent recommendations. Octopus appetizer was truly excellent and could have been from a high end restaurant in Portugal. Pork chop special was incredibly done. Went with our friends and everything was perfect - excellent service from our lovely waitress Yazzi (spelling) she was charming, funny and so knowledgeable of the menu! Great cocktails, table had bread service,short rib , duck special , porkchop special, burger, bolognese special- all outstanding. The showstopper however was the mushroom soup! Views were great, food was good, most of the staff were nice. One waitress kept her back to us, greeted other guests, chatted and served them first. Fine, no need to be equally social with everyone. As we were ducking our way out under her aggressive stare, she pretended a nice word to catch our attention and gave a nasty look and put her nose in the air, just when her colleagues were out of the area. So practiced, so sneaky. We were polite about everything, we were not demanding, it was not busy, early, late or crowded. We aren't white. read more

Food was pretty average. Crispy Maitake was very good but Tomato Toast was pretty much cold pizza. 3 scallops for $22 is kind of offensive. Burrata was average, nothing special. Sea Bass was average. Rice tasted bland. Surf and Turf was well seasoned but nothing special for $58. Portion was good size. Someone at our table ordered medium rare. It was more like well done. Drinks were pretty good. Service also average. At times attentive and at other times the waitress was absent. We had to ask for someone to pour more from our bottle of white wine being chilled away from the table. Decor was nice though it felt more like some place that opened in Boston ten years ago. No real character. Seats were comfortable - our whole table agreed. Pearl just feels inauthentic, like a single uncle who tries to dress cool. Mystic is now a competitive restaurant market and you can't deliver average food at these prices. It needs to be special. Overall, they need to improve their food or they won't make it. A few tweaks and the place could be great. read more

I would have loved to leave a glowing review for Pearl, but unfortunately, we never got the chance to experience the restaurant. I had made a reservation for seven for Mother's Day. I never received a phone call or a text message to confirm the reservation. All I received was an email from Resy saying that my reservation had been canceled with no explanation whatsoever. I then made multiple phone calls to pearl to try to get an explanation but have never received a response. I'm sorry to say I cannot recommend this restaurant. What a disappointment for our Mother's Day celebration! read more

Went for happy hour with two friends and sat at the bar. Excellent ambiance. Modern, upscale feel . Bar tender friendly and efficient. Order bread and mushroom soup. Order of rosemary bread was four large prices with an oil a butter and an eggplant spread. Bread did not seem super fresh. Spreads were good. The mushroom soup was amazing! So delicious, it was a beautiful serving . My friend had beef sliders without the bread as she has a gluten issue. She said they were good. I don't write bad reviews, but the lack of family friendliness at this restaurant was terribly perturbing. Mystic is the culinary capital of Southeastern Connecticut. It is home to longtime stalwarts such as Bravo Bravo and Oyster Club, as well as the more recent James-Beard-Award-Winning Shipwright's Daughter. Pearl does not belong in this community based on customer service alone. I doubt they will last through next season. I would note that each of the above restaurants has highchairs and welcomes children. We frequent many restaurants in the region, and there is a ubiquity of family friendliness. We had a 5:00 pm reservation at Pearl. We were excited to try a new spot. Upon arrival, we waited a moment for the Maître D'. When he got to the front desk we asked about a highchair. We were met with a curt "We don't have highchairs." I remarked to my wife that this was a pathetic answer for a purported topflight restaurant. Apparently, this set the Maître D' off, as he was standoffish to the point where we decided to leave rather than engage further with the belligerent staff member. He clearly lacked even an iota of customer service sense. At no point did he offer a remote apology for the inconvenience. We were somewhat out of luck to find a table for 4 in Mystic at 5:15 on a Saturday night, Oyster Club noted they were booked for the evening. We wound up going to Fords Black & Blue in Noank. They had great customer service, and of course, a highchair. Our route home brough us by Pearl at 6:45. They had a notable amount of empty tables. If their service is as embarrassing as their first point of contact was tonight, no doubt their empty tables will only multiply as the season comes to a close. It is a shame the region will have to wait a while longer for their next great restaurant to arise. read more

We sat at the upstairs bar. There is also a downstairs speakeasy with music. The decor is rustic and cozy. We shared the paella for 2. The rice was very dry, actually packed down so much it came out in large clumps. There was plenty of seafood mostly mussels. The dish had enough flavor just wish the rice wasn't so dry. For 80 bucks i doubt I would get it again. The service was fine, no complaints. There is a large parking lot located behind the restaurant. read more

Beautiful restaurant, ok cocktails, but terrible food, terrible service. Took 10-15 minutes to order our first drink. Started with a tomato toast that had a mealy tomato on it, salad was overdressed and soggy. Braised short rib was not fall off the bone and drenched Stubbs bbq sauce. Black Sea bass was OK. Also served jarred pepper in a bowl with no utensils. Table next to us was served a meal for two with no serving utensils. Great staff and ambience. Loved the beet appetizer. The $45 lobster rigatoni entree had so much spice on it, you couldn't taste the lobster. I like spicy food but the spice was overwhelming and out of balance with the pasta and lobster. I went on a Monday and hoping the regular chef was off. It's hard to ruin a lobster and pasta entree. Four of us visited on a Thursday night in the dinning room. Last time I was in this building is when Pizzetta had their restaurant here. The new dining room has a transportive feel to a different place with very attractive modern feel and is super comfortable. The four of us shared a bottle of rosé that had a nice vibrant mouthfeel and would work with everyone's different dishes. My mushroom soup was a fantastic starter and nicely rich and flavorful. I'm always a sucker for octopus so I had that small plate for my entry. Nicely done dish and would get again but the texture was not the best I've had. As a side I added the tostones. These were unremarkable and need a richer spicier dipping sauce to enhance them. Server was pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, he was covering the dining room and also making the drinks. It took a bit to get our wine served. That said we like the unhurried pace for a dinner out. We will definitely be back to try the bar with small bites and drink and the downstairs parlor. The vibe is fun-loving, yet sophisticated, while the food is deliciously unpretentious (don't skip the lobster mashed potatoes or dirty caesar).
