I am absolutely mortified at the food quality at this restaurant. I want to say first the fish is the freshest fish you can get. It's great. EVERYTHING after that is straight out of a can. The salad, vegetables, french fries, etc are the lowest quality grade food you can expect from restaurants where a plate is $8. The prices don't match quality and shame on ANY chef who works here and would attach their names to this restaurant. We had a burger "well done" (which I don't agree with because it chars the food, but you can't control your party) and it was medium. We had another well done burger order and it was well done; so the inconsistency is alarming. I would strongly suggest you do not bring your dinner guest here or family. read more

Good bar and good food but nothing great. Clam chowder was legit (otherwise I would have walked out), fried calamari served with chipotle aioli and banana peppers which put it over the top. For entrees the fish tacos were tasty as hell and the lobster roll could have been fresher and wasn't served with a buttered roll but did come with delicious (home made?) potato chips. My wife and I had gone here for the first time. Went during an off time, so got seated right away. We got the baked brie appetizer. It was quite tasty, but a little small for $12. My wife got a cup of the Portuguese kale soup. It was unremarkable. Tasted like a cup of hot water flavored with an overly smokey ham hock. We have had better around the Cape. My wife said her salad was quite good (I don't know what it was called, but it had strawberries and a tasty vinaigrette). I got the fried scallops. My French fries were delicious, but my scallops were unpleasant. They were soggy and had little scallop flavor, but did look and taste like they had been fried in old oil dark and with a somewhat bitter aftertaste). Also, I don't think the oil was up to temp. I mentioned it to the waiter, who said that's how they always are. I can't believe that that is how they always are, especially with all of the exceptional seafood offered at other places nearby. You'd think they'd want to stay competitive. Our waiter was very friendly and had no problem taking my lunch off the check. We might give them a second chance, but that will probably be next year. Been going to the Pearl for the past 5 years now with family. We usually go for the happy hour/ entertainment from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. My sisters like to get the $12.00 boiled lobster special. I usually get the chowder and fried clams or scallops. We try to get a seat out in the patio area where the band plays. It makes for a fun afternoon. Also, parking is easy if you park in the pier parking lot, which is free. The music is usually upbeat yet not overwhelmingly loud which allows for conversation. The food prices are about average for the Cape in the summer. If you feel like chilling on a nice afternoon with a beer and some appetizers with entertainment, this is the place. read more

Mediocre. I've come here twice and the service has been poor. The staff is really nice just had to wait a very very long time for not that much. It's never left a real memorable impression - the food is alright as well. The salad I had was amazing. But I don't know. There was something about it that really wasn't memorable or extravagant. We stopped in for lunch and had nachos, shrimp tacos, and the steamers-all were great! Maybe a little overpriced but still we enjoyed it and all the food was just right. I would recommend this restaurant over the others close by because they have more than just seafood. If you are allergic to shell fish, the other restaurants don't have much to offer! read more

What happened to The Pearl in Wellfleet? We used to go here all the time...loved it. Great food, large portions etc. Things seemed to change last summer. Tried it again last week...and it's definitely not what it used to be. Portions are smaller...I think the dishes are actually smaller. And there's nothing interesting about the food any more. Used to love the Cobb salad...but now there's less of it...and it's pretty bland. Friends felt the same way about their meals as well... Bummer. read more

We come back here time and time again for the location and the good food and drinks. It's not a fancy place but a good place for families that turns more into an adult place in the evening. The kids meals are served on frisbees which the kids loved. Oysters are great as well as the cocktails. read more

This is our 3rd year visiting Pearl and it is not disappointing. The fish and chips are so good. You break through the crispy outside and there is moist, steamy cod waiting for you. Fries that accompanied the fish were good too, crispy and with flavor. Husband had the special which was lobster ravioli, which he said were absolutely delicious but he did not find the meal filling. Clam chowder was awesome, thick and creamy New England style. Knocked one star off because other members of our party were interested in subbing their side dish for a lighter option (ie side salad, or vegetable) and were told "we don't do that here..." a little rude, and somewhat disappointing, would be nice to see a lighter option for a side with some of the meals (current side offerings are cole slaw, chips, or fries. read more

I visited the Pearl over Fourth of July weekend with a group that knows the area and restaurant very well. We went into the evening expecting the typically good food and service, but unfortunately, our experience was so terrible it was laughable. After arriving at the restaurant around 4:15pm, the two hostesses were very accommodating to start and found a table quickly for our party of nine. Knowing the menu well, we were immediately prepared to order so we could take advantage of the Happy Hour special that includes $12 Lobsters and $18 for a dozen oysters before 5PM. We informed our first waitress of our plan, but she refused to take our food orders and insisted that she could only put our drinks in. After waiting for 20 minutes for our drinks, the waitress then informed us that her shift was ending and she could no longer take care of our table. From there, our experience took a turn for the ridiculous and I've listed the multiple issues below. -We sat at the table for 30 minutes without food menus and had to take them from the next table over even though our waitress said she would bring us some. -After placing our food order with the second waitress, we received lobsters and entrees at completely different times and those who didn't order lobsters were finished with their meal 30 minutes before the others had even received their dish. -One of the lobsters had a "missing" claw that wasn't delivered to the table for 20 minutes. -Although the menu was the same, the calamari, cobb salads and french fry dishes were completely different and much lower in quality than previous visits to the restaurant. -Following the disappointing food, we found out that the restaurant is now under new management and has a new chef. In total, we were waiting for all of the food for almost two hours and when we finished our meals, we received a check that was not at all reflective of the Happy Hour prices the manager had promised we would still receive. When we brought this issue up, the manager came back to the table and proceeded to blame us for losing her $200. Following her remarks, they delivered an adjusted bill that only included the deal for Happy Hour lobsters and not the oysters. At this point, we were so fed up that we were being blamed for their miscommunication and disorganization that we were not going to settle for a second incorrect bill. After informing the waitress that the bill was still wrong, we then waited another 20 minutes for her to finally return with the accurate check. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Pearl anytime soon and we were incredibly disappointed in the performance of the new management and chef. Hopefully, they will turn it around and bring back what was a great spot, but they have a long way to go. read more

My husband had clams as an appetizer and within 30 minutes of consuming them he became violently ill. He went from feeling very healthy to running out of the restaurant where he was able to expel his food. He has never felt so sick so fast. I was extremely disappointed with the restaurant managers response to the food poisoning. She stated my husband must have drank to much or was in the sun all day! That was not the case.... Boiled lobster was over-cooked, steak was sub-par, lobster roll was dated on a stale bun and the steamed clams were not fresh. My husband's crab cake sandwich was tasty but the shrimp cocktail wasn't good - the shrimp tasted watery and was not very flavorful - same goes for the lobster roll. I don't understand a couple of the complaints. Carl is obviously a heating salesman. True, it can be chilly on the open spaces. I consider it the price one pays for dining by the water. True, they may need to install more heat, but it's so rarely needed it's a huge expense for such a short period of use. We dropped in for a late afternoon lunch on our way back to Boston on a referral from a friend. The room is pure Cape Cod shanty cool. Beautiful metal work on the lighting by a local artist, large airy windows, wide plank flooring, slat wood ceilings. Then there's the food. Obviously buoyed by the location and styling this kitchen is just f'in lazy!!! Ordered fried calamari and a lobster roll with the famous fresh chips. Calamari was fine but they tossed in so many banana peppers I should take them home and jar them. The lobster roll for this New England gal just kinda pissed me off. Huge white bread roll that was grander than the lobster to look at. If you want to bread me, at least have the decency to butter and grill the darn thing. Then they further insult you with that "cheater layer" of lettuce. Really? The hand cut chips were fine to look at but don't touch. Then you'll know they are cold and greasy with old cold fat. Kinda gross folks for $18. My waiter was lovely and the wine had a nice pour. Will not be back when there are so many other places that care. read more

This place has location, atmosphere and great food. The pricing is moderate, it's not the cheap place to take the fam, but come here with your visiting guests or with the girlfriends for a chic place for drinks and you'll be glad you did. The food is outstanding & the staff is attentive. I love the fish tacos. For $13 you won't get a better fish taco on the cape, generous portion size and delish! The chowder, the hanger steak, the steak sandwich and the tuna sashimi are all winners in my book. Also on the weekends they have a killer happy hour. read more

Upper deck seating has incredible views! We arrived around 2pm on a Saturday in September and had a bit of await. It was packed. Not even any bar seating. We tried to order a drink at the bar but were never served as the bartender was working alone and was mobbed! Not her fault, but management should have staffed with two. On the plus size, we were seated more quickly than initially told and it was on the upper deck. We ordered two appetizers and an entree to share which was more than enough! Lobster quesadilla, lobster artichoke dip and fried clam dinner. No complaints on the food or service. read more

We must have hit this on an off night ... or ordered the wrong things. we went on a Wednesday night in early august at about 7p. there was a wait, but not too long. we had the fish and chips and some fish tacos and a tuna steak. (no shellfish here) nothing exceptional-- except the bill. The only good thing to say was that the cod was fresh and not overly battered/fries. unlike the French fries which were pretty awful. $6 house salad was inedible limp boxed greens with a few icy tomato pieces. My son spilled his drink, and there wasn't even an offer to replace or refill it. (and only a little kids cup for the price of a full drink?!) They're fresh. They're like a salty snot rocket from Poseidon. So you're feeling good, and you think, time for an entree. But you want something light, but you're not trying to only eat the breeze. You want real food, but super fresh. How about a dozen JUMBO shrimp from the raw bar? Oh shoot, that's $27. They must be huge. Ok, reel it back, half dozen.. Only $18. Ok, I can afford that. Six sizeable shrimps, all definitely JUMBO. That will feed me for the evening. Ok I'll order that. I can hang. So twenty minutes pass, and the sweet waitress arrives with a huge tray of seafood. I'm so excited. Everyone gets their oysters, their lobsters, what have you. Then she, from behind her back, like a magician, pulls out a dog trough full of ice. In it, are six baby commas. Little tiny winks from the ocean. They are almost invisible amongst the ice. These are jumbo shrimp. These are $18. Each one of these trader joe's garbage shrimp, are $3. I was so shocked, that I said thank you. And ate them. Everyone else was putting their napkin on their lap, and I was done with my dinner. So.... Don't get the JUMBO shrimp unless your only goal is to pay the landlords mortgage. Bye. read more

The lobsters and steak were over-done and the kids chix tenders were like eating tree bark (especially for a 1 year old with no teeth). A Great Restaurant in Wellfleet Harbor! My family and I have been eating at the Pearl practically every year on vacation. I can honestly say that we've always had great experiences at the restaurant. The location is right in Wellfleet Harbor which offers some nice views. The decor inside is inviting and fresh. The staff has been always friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is family friendly especially in the earlier side of the evening. The raw bar is really good and offers a great selection of fresh local & area oysters. The food comes out fairly quick and has always been fresh and delicious. In particular we got the clam chowder which was spectacular. In my opinion the chowder is the Gold Standard and is one of the best on the Cape. We got 2 fried shrimp plates and they were delicious with plenty of shrimp that were fried to perfection. The kids meals are served on a frisbee (that you keep) which comes in handy in the summer. With a family friendly atmosphere I highly recommend this restaurant. We've always have had good meals and overall great experiences at the Pearl. read more

Glad we read reviews. This place is not to be missed. First - Wellfleet oysters. All I can say is "holy crap". I could have eaten them for hours. Raw tuna sashimi - yes. Gambled, and it paid off with the lobster, spinach and brie quesadilla. Who knew ? Hubbie had fish tacos, quite tasty. Very pleased indeed. All said, great food, ok service.
