This is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Ptown. The food fell a little short this time around, but the above and beyond friendly staff made up for it. I once had the best chopino I have ever had at this restaurant, but I believe they only have it in the fall/winter months. This time I had the Butter Poached Lobster & Pappardelle, probably one of my favorite meals of all time. The lobster was just like I pulled it from the shell myself. This is a review regarding their gluten free options and lack of knowledge from the wait staff. This place has very few gluten free offerings. Only 3 meals on the entire menu had GF next to it. I was still grateful they had any. I ordered the chicken and mashed potatoes. When I ordered, I asked the server to alert the kitchen to make sure it was GF. He looked at me confused and said how could this meal be GF, it has potatoes? I then pointed to the menu where it says GF and said, why would potatoes not be GF, do you put something in them? He said, because potatoes aren't. At this point, I was so terrified to even eat here. He came back from the kitchen and said it can be GF if they removed the gravy. 1. Why doesn't the wait staff know what is GF and what isn't? Why don't they know their own menu? 2. Why would you even include gluten gravy on and meal marked GF. It wasn't marked GF optional or something. Just GF. Imagine if I didn't ask questions? How unprofessional and dangerous. I ate here because I was desperate, but what a scary experience. We came in for dinner and had a nice time. It's a little confusing when you walk in because the hotel Check in desk feels like it could be the host stand. The food was great, the Brussels sprout appetizer was so good. We got the cookies with mint ice cream for dessert which was awesome! Stayed at the Inn for a week in September. Had our last meal at the Inn and it did not disappoint. Wife had scallops which she raved about. I had the poached lobster and pasta, which was amazing. Sat outside at the lower patio. We knew the meal was going to be great when we started with the escargot, which was some of the best we've had. For the first time I had a restaurant cancel my reservation. We've gone to The Pointe for a number of Thanksgiving dinners and loved it. So much so we recommended it to our friends, who were going to go with us this year. I made a reservation for 6 back in September. I got a voicemail last week that they could not accommodate parties larger than 5. I called back and left a message for the manager but never heard back. Absolutely loved this place!!! We had reservations and a really great table with a view of the church and the Pilgrim Monument. The porch is enclosed so that you don't have to worry about wind and it is heated as well. Our server, Bo, was super personable and helpful. They show you the specials on an iPad/tablet so you can see what you would be ordering before you order it. They should do that for the entire menu but I really liked this feature. I ordered the steamed lobster and it was cooked to perfection. I order lobster pretty much every time it's on a menu and I have to admit that this was THE BEST LOBSTER I have had...EVER!!!!! I really loved everything about this place and would recommend going here if you are in town. The drinks were awful. Either the bartender got distracted or doesn't know what they are doing. I ordered 1 mixed and 1 martini and sad to say they got worse not better once I switched. The place was packed and clearly they overbooked their Thanksgiving special. The staff was running around completely overwhelmed (not their fault for the overbooking). After waiting for the half hour, with no update, I asked the hostess how much longer it would be. I was told at least another 15 minutes. A customer leaving from dinner informed us they waited well over a hour for dinner to arrive. We decided to leave and find another restaurant. We went to the Point Restaurant last night for the first time and we were thoroughly impressed! Our server Scott was excellent and very engaging with our party. The food we had from the appetizers to the entree's were excellent (best Brussel sprouts I've ever had!). The manager, Bracken, came over to check on us and make sure all way as it should be and indeed it was. I really like The Pointe. The food is a fairly standard menu but executed really well with high quality ingredients. I've had the halibut, roast chicken and steamed 2 lb lobster and enjoyed everything. The seating is very comfortable especially the porch area. But what is best is the service. The service is always warm and inviting especially if you're celebrating a special occasion. We were celebrating our anniversary and two glasses of Prosecco appeared out of nowhere. We didn't even tell the restaurant ahead of time. The hostess just overheard us. What I also really like about this restaurant is that it's off the Commercial St path and so it feels more relaxed and less touristy. read more

So nice to see a place stuffed to the gills with patrons at 7:15pm. Glad we had reservations. We were asked to select one of two side by side tables for two inside. I yearned for the porch, but the single woman diner just before us snagged the last table there at the time. Poor hubby had to stare transfixed at the street light outside no matter how much I told him it was okay to stare at me. The gentleman who sat us asked for a drink order, yay, so nice to ask right away! And bread came right away too. Then the wait. Our waiter Ken was so nice and endearing and slow. After my prosecco was finished I was wanting a glass of wine, then wanting it to miraculously appear in front of me without ordering it, then, yes, same gentleman who sat us to the rescue, he asked if we wanted more from the bar, yes, the glass of white, oh good, yeah. Where is Ken? Ken arrived to explain the specials. Ooooh flounder stuffed with crab, yum. I ordered it and my hubby the halibut. Hmmm, hubby and I then heard Ken say to the table two inches from us that the the flounder was stuffed with haddock. Not to worry, I like haddock! We ordered the "snack of scallops and risotto". Couldn't wait. and wait and wait. Couple next to us got escargo and a salad and they sat down 15min after us... argh. Finally scallops and risotto. Very tiny, but perfect "snack" two scallops and a dollop of risotto in between. Nummed up every bit. Wish I had ordered the deviled eggs, too. A bit more of a wait when gentleman who had seated us asked if we would like more bread, yes please. Halibut and flounder arrive. And a side of roasted asparagus because we like our veg. Bite of flounder- omg delish. and definitely stuffed with crab, whew! Gentleman next to me had the flounder stuffed with "haddock" wonder if he ever knew the difference... Hubby bummed because halibut overcooked, verified by me. boo. We were too nice and did not return it to the kitchen (and worried about a lengthy refire). Husband later said "the halibut gave it's life for nothing". No dessert because we wanted to get back to our fresh snapdragon apples at our apartment, and viewing of "Narcos" on Netflix. So Pointe, you weren't on point, but we like you. Service is ever so important, as is accuracy. Please don't overcook that beautiful halibut steak! My neighbor down the street cooks it in parchment and it is moist mouthfuls every time! A thought? P.S. I don't think you really need the notebook visuals of the specials and desserts. The Point Restaurant has become an annual event for us. We first visited to celebrate my birthday and knew then that this was a new tradition. The surroundings are beautiful and tasteful with an air of casual sophistication. Our server, Michelle O. was absolutely great. She was personable, witty, conversational and very helpful with menu selections and suggestions. I had the filet mignon which was perfectly done and which sat on a bed of mashed potato and a woven layer of haricot vert. For dessert, I had the carrot cake, which was good but done as a refined layer cake rather than its traditional presentation of a casual rural confection. I prefer the latter where you can see and taste the elements which make up the cake. We will return in 2019. This will be our fourth season and looking forward with great anticipation. read more

This restaurant is connected to an inn. The bar area is super small, but the restaurant is large and spills out onto a second floor screened in patio. The interior restaurant gets some of the breeze from the outside thanks to some open interior windows. The view for some can include the Pilgrim Monument which at night was pretty cool. The server was really friendly and personable. Timing from the kitchen flowed nicely. The crab cake appetizer was good, but the cakes were small in diameter and depth. The accompanying sauce (creole mustard aioli) was very tasty though with just the right amount of zing to it. The lemon thyme crusted cod I got for my main was very good. The breading was soft; a bit salty. The cod was tender and flaky; cooked perfectly. It was served with a tomato and bacon salad that took up half the plate and was a great addition to the flavors. We couldn't have asked for better service than what they provided. We started with Clam Chowder, Escargot and the Meatballs. It was one of the best chowders Ive tasted in town and the Escargot was to fdie for. For the main, we had the halibut and Jamaican Jerk chicken mac and cheese. Although the Jerk chicken wasn't all too spicy, the dish was flavorful. The Halibut was perfectly cooked with a pea puree and risotto. Went to dinner at The Pointe with my wife and our best friends. We arrived early because the walk to the restaurant was shorter than we anticipated. The staff was very apologetic that they couldn't yet seat us and they offered us seating in their Club Room to wait for our table and they even opened the bar early to make us cocktails. From beginning to end our dining experience was sheer perfection. The staff is gracious and friendly. The cocktails are perfectly crafted. The food is scrumptious! My only regret in leaving this review is that it may make it impossible to get a reservation next time I'm in Provincetown! read more

We had a party of 10 on a Friday night, and we greatly enjoyed the staff, food and drinks. For apps, we ordered the clothesline artisan bacon (10/10 recommend), clam chowder (also very good), Brussels sprouts (good) and buffalo chicken meatballs (not too exciting). Our table ordered a variety of entrees, but I personally ordered the halibut which was somewhat disappointing. The desserts were all very good. I start this by stating that I am fairly qualified to review this restaurant in Provincetown as I have been to almost all of the "better" spots in town over the past year. Somehow, there are restaurants on Yelp at a similar price point in Provincetown that have better ratings that are clearly inferior to this establishment. I think that visitors here are in a state of happiness in their vacation mode, and perhaps rate restaurants in a more favorable light than I do after one year of home ownership here. The atmosphere, staff, and food quality at The Pointe is a cut above many of the restaurants that you find along Commercial St. I love their salads, appetizers , steak, lobster, and the burger is fantastic and a bargain to boot. The Pointe Restaurant is on my list of must-dine places in Provincetown. Keep in mind that there are many great restaurants here, but the Pointe is a cut above. Located at the Crowne Pointe B&B, the Pointe is just a block off Commercial Street but removes you from the chaos. It's quintessential Cape Cod. I started with the Clam Chowder. You cannot eat here without trying the Clam Chowder at least once. It might be the best on the Cape. Or New England. I just wish they'd serve it in a larger bowl. I followed that with a salmon special: grilled salmon with a maple/shallot glaze served over a bed of pickled mustard greens. They were perfect together. And because I'm a glutton, I also ordered the potatoes au gratin. OMG this was one of the best meals I've had all year. Truth! My partner, who is vegan, had marinated olives and seared tofu in a barbecue sauce. He said it was excellent. read more

We ate at The Pointe tonight and it did not disappoint! We originally had reservation for 6:45, for outdoor seating. The weather today was rainy as hell, so I called and unfortunately they said they may not be able to move us inside due to the number of reservations. However, David at the Pointe called back and said they had a cancellation for 5:30 for inside and that we could take it! It was so sweet of him to call and think of us as I think he could sense that I was disappointed in our first call. We jumped at the 5:30 slot and were delighted. Dinner was awesome. We both got French martinis and I also got a glass of Riesling- both so good. My husband's filet mignon was tender and delicious. My pan seared halibut was amazing- fresh and flaky. We also got buffalo chicken meatballs for an app, which were great. Service was wonderful. We will definitely be back! It was nice to be away from the hubub of Commercial St. read more

Dined at The Pointe on the 4th of July. I would have given a 5 star rating but for 2 things. Our red wine was served at about 80 degrees, and we were not offered specials when we were seated or our menus were give to us. The filet mignon topped with blue cheese was the best most tender, melt in your mouth morsel of deliciousness I have ever had in a filet. The potato puree and sauce it came with was tasty. The lobster gnocci had superb taste, but gnocci was overworked. Escargot as an app was kne of the best I have had, and the fried calimari was perfectly cooked and the lemon citrus tartar/dipping sauce was deightful. One of the best meals we have ever eaten in Ptown. Red wine sorbet was also the best sorbet I have ever eaten anywhere. Period. Try them you will not be disappointed read more

We have been going to the Pointe for years when in town. When we lived in Boston and were here for special occasions this was our go to place. Now that we have moved to Florida we still make sure we go there at least once when in town. The food and service was excellent as always. I have tried many dishes and have never been disappointed. Last night was Filet for my husband and Steak Frites for my dinner, both were done to perfection. Apps were great as well, muscles and crab cake. Staff is always attentive, the manager always goes out of her way to make the experience perfect. I tried to like it, but what started off as what could have been a great meal somehow lost all steam after the salad course. The wine list is venerable, and we enjoyed a very nice Oregon pinot noir. The roasted beet salad with goat cheese and arugula is terrific. The halibut was tasty and the filet was pretty good, too (though a bit tough), but the scallops were a walloping disappointment as was the limp, overcooked asparagus that was served with them. Flavorless, colorless rolls served with the salad course were also a detail that they should consider changing. They looked like prefab Subway bread rolls. So not only did the food lose steam, but so did the staff. Instead of coming around the side of the table to serve two of the salads and the entrees like they did when they presented and poured the wine and served the first salad, they just started handing stuff across the table from the doorway where they entered the room, as though they were in some big hurry. Dessert was something of a mixed bag. Coconut-blueberry cobbler was not very appealing to the eye and the creme brulee not quite right, but the pistachio gelato was a hit with all of us. Our server was friendly and gracious, but then we heard tables around us being offered additional specials that weren't offered us, which he acknowledged he'd just forgotten. Um, ok. Having heard rave reviews about other places in Ptown like the Red Inn or Front Street, I think I'd forgo return trips to Crowne Pointe and set my sights elsewhere. read more

We were very disappointed. I understand the late season blues that affect some of the restaurants in Provincetown. However, there was so much wrong, I have to say, it suggests serious problems with the establishment. Yes, the view is terrific. Yes, the dining room is gorgeous. Yes, the staff are friendly. Leave now and get a sandwich some place else. It goes downhill fast. I ordered after a quick read of the extensive specialty drinks. The ginger martini was reminiscent of the time I spent with my grandmother. Whenever I had a cold she gave me cough syrup that was sweet and syrupy. I wasn't coughing. It wasn't even cold. We ordered the lobster gnocchi and steamed muscles for appetizers. A friend raved about the gnocchi. They never came! After a long wait munching on under baked bread, the waiter arrived with our entrees. He presented them as a magician -- with enough flair and misdirection, perhaps we won't notice that he made the appetizers disappear. Apologies all around. "Shall I take them off the bill?" Do other patrons pay for items they don't receive? Maybe on those occasions when the waiter remembers to offer a second drink! He never did. "The kitchen forgot to cook them." That is a great piece of news to give to people who are about to eat their entrees: the kitchen does not know what they are doing. The encrusted cod special was very good.
