I wish we could rate different areas of the practice. Doctors and front desk are between 4 to 5 stars. Unfortunately, our experience with the optical department has been consistently disappointing. They rarely answer the phone, and when we do reach someone, the staff often come across as rude and uninterested in helping. Rather than offering guidance or possible solutions, we were simply told to contact our insurance company. Our insurance has remained the same for decades, yet we were told the optical department does not accept it, even though the medical office does. That inconsistency was confusing, and no one took the time to explain why or help us understand our options. We will continue coming to this practice because we value the doctors and the medical care they provide. However, due to our experiences with the optical department, we will be purchasing our eyewear elsewhere.

I went to Alan Optical on 11/10/25 and although I only went over my frame allowance by $25 I was charged and paid (stupidly) $807. I thought...well maybe there will be an adjustment when I get the EOB. The EOB dated 11/25/25 says I owe $375 so I call Alan Optical and they say, oh, this was billed wrong. We just dont know how much we owe you. We will work on it. They apparently rebill because on 3/9/26 I get a NEW EOB saying I owe $80. I call Alan Optical and they say the EOB is wrong and tbe insurance company (who THEY contracted with) is notoriously difficult to deal with. I explain my frustration and I'm told basically to go pound sand. She literally told me "you're acting like this is my fault." I have emailed both EOBs and made calls and I have to deal with the fact that I got ripped off. Beware.
