Buyer beware. I decided to switch from VisionWorks to Pearle at Legacy for a change. Family of three had vision exams, two for contacts. Both instances the doctor, without any disclosure, gave exams for the most expensive contact lenses (over $1,000 for 6 month supply). Neither the contacts nor the exam for these expensive contacts were covered by our insurance, which Pearle was aware. They charged us $100 per exam. I had to go and speak to the 'manager' on two separate occasions to get these charges reversed. We asked for a price list for the second contacts. The 'manager' claimed to email it to us, never received it. After two visits and multiple calls and in person meetings with the 'manager' and Dr. Chim the office called to place order for my daughter's contacts. Our insurance gives us $150 towards contacts annually, which has always been adequate - maybe adding another $50. The agent called and I specifically authorized that they only order enough boxed that would be totally covered by the insurance $150 stipend. We pick up six boxes of contacts. A month later we receive an invoice for over $650!! Today, I went to the Legacy Village Pearle for the fifth and final time to return the four unopened boxes of contacts and demand they be taken off my invoice as I had not authorized the purchase. I was informed that they only order contacts after obtaining a credit card payment. I asked, "then why are you billing me for $650!!" After having to request a receipt showing that I returned the four boxes of contacts (pardon if I don't take their word about noting the return in my daughter's records!!) I left the store for the last time. I will never step foot in that establishment again. read more

Not only did the optometrists give me the wrong prescription for my contacts she was swearing about another younger one. I find this to be unprofessional and unorganized. I called them they said they would give me the right strength. I picked them up spent over 1k with glasses and contacts and still WRONG! I don't like to waste my time. THE WORST! customer service experience in what is supposed to be the premier eyewear vendor. I am a 55 year old long time customer of Pearle Vision. Unfortunately the last eyeglasses I purchased turned out to be of a defective design where the lenses popped out spontaneously. I brought them in once for adjustment and the lenses popped out again. I brought them in a second time for adjustment and the lenses popped out again. I brought them in for adjustment a third time. I got home and took one step up my stairs and the left lens exploded, sending shards of glass toward my left eyeball. The Pearle Vision technician over tightened the frame surrounding the lens. Fortunately for me-and for Pearle Vision-I was blinking at the time so the shards bounced off my eyelid instead of into my eyeball, shredding it. What happened: I asked for a new, different, well constructed pair of eyeglasses of the same value. I was told by the store manager, Amira Ihentuge, that all Pearle Vision could offer was to replace the defective, near blinding, eyeglasses with the identical frame and lenses. What should have happened: Not only should I have been given a different pair of eyewear, I should have been given a discount coupon for my next frame or 6 months of disposable contacts (which I think I requested). Surprise, the lenses of the replacement eyeglasses popped out of the defectively designed frame. What happened: I demanded a new pair of alternative frames and 1 year of disposable contacts. I was refused both the new eyewear and contacts by Miss Ihentuge, the store manager. So I was left no option but to file a small claims action for $6,000 for compensatory and punitive damages for the negligence shown by Pearle Vision for nearly slicing my eye to ribbons. What should have happened: I should have been granted my request for new frames and contacts. Miss Ihentuge stubbornly compounded my frustration, and her incredibly, hard to fathom, poor customer support by forcing me to go all the way to small claims. She brought with her an attorney. So rather than offer appropriate customer service, she spent money at the hourly rate of an attorney on top of her own time. What happened: In the courthouse lobby, Miss Ihentuge offered me what I had originally asked for, a new alternative replacement pair of frames. She asserted, disingenuously, that she had offered that all along. Guess what? Instead of going into court and seeking damages on top of what I am 100% positive would have been a judgement in my favor in excess of what was being offered by your store manager, I accepted her offer to be done with the whole nightmare. What should have happened: ...New glasses and contacts, or better. I went in, picked out a selection of new frames and Miss Ihentuge said I shouldn't go with my preferred selection, but rather a frame $30 more expensive than my defective frames. So,I deferred to her and of course she made me pay the difference. This in light of the fact that she would not even credit me for the amount it cost to file my small claims action. Today I went in to pick up my frames, I called ahead to let her know I would be arriving in 30 minutes. I arrived and she made me wait an additional 30 minutes while she talked on the phone. And to stick a thumb in my open wound, she made me turn in the defective frames ( which are of use to no one but me and I said I would keep in my car glovebox for emergencies should I lose or, break my new eyeglasses on the road. At any rate, Target is cheaper, they accept most insurance, including EyeMed, and the are more friendly and make for an all around more pleasant shopping experience. Please go there or elsewhere to get your glasses. read more

Be careful if you get glasses there. Read your contract before signing it. They will stick you with a one year extended warranty wheather you want it or not. Without asking they put it in my paperwork. I got home and called to have it removed and was told it's too late you signed the paperwork. The cost is $35. I do not recommend them at all. read more

My first appointment went wonderfully. I was impressed by the optometrist and his professionalism. I chose 3 star rating due to the fact that after the appointment I ordered new contacts which were to be mailed to my home. Instead, they were delivered to the store and the store did not have my phone number with my file despite the fact that I gave it to them. It took a very long time after calling and leaving multiple messages requesting the status of contacts and leaving my number before I was able to pick up the contacts. Beware. I went in this week having to replace frames less than a year old from this location. They could not find the same frames so encouraged me to buy another style for $600 ( supposed valued at $1200). I felt stuck, needing my glasses and agreed. i called back with 1 hour and cancelled due to affordability. They told me to bring in my receipt. I brought it first thing in the morning and they refused to honor it. I have filed a complaint and contacted my credit card company. Don't trust them. Find another company. read more

I purchase 2 pair of glasses on 21 June 2021 from Pearle Vision Legacy Village around 4:30pm about 75 minutes after the purchase I decided the second pair wasn't needed and I called to ask them to stop the second pair. I was told the order was already in process and couldn't be stopped BUT I could change the order to clear lenses (They were sunglasses!!). It takes 3 weeks to get the glasses but after 75 minutes I can't stop the second order, Nobody was working on the glasses and the order was just sitting in the computer system. I was told twice that it wouldn't be stopped but I was also told how nice the glasses are. THIS STORE & PEARLE VISION REALLY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE WANTS OR NEEDS OF ITS CUSTOMERS!! Pearle Vision as a company informed me today that they couldn't help with this dispute that I have to deal with the store itself. I would understand if the lenses had been ground to my prescription. I would be responsible for the purchase but this wasn't the situation when I asked for the change. That store at Legacy Village and Pearle Vision as a company to snub me as a customer for my wants and needs, shame-shame-shame Pricing -- this also has big issues. I should have seen this before I left the store but I didn't. The second pair of glasses was purchased with a "PROMO" buy the frames and the lenses are "FREE". Good place to get glasses, expensive since i have bad eyes

Going to extreme to screw customers. I witnessed the whole episode, the following sounds like a story but is unfortunately real. Beware! I want to thank Christal M at Pearle Vision Legacy Village store, for the exciting experience with armed police, just by being a Pearle Vision customer. I had a pair of glasses with noses broken but still wearable. I wanted to save the lenses for a new frame since they are "high-index" lenses with anti-reflective coating, and wears perfectly. Christal took my lenses to the backroom for fitting and came back with them broken. Ouch. But she said Pearle Vision will provide replacement lenses for free, so I thought I just need to tough it out for a few days without glasses. My original lenses have a strength of 375/425, I had an older prescription with a strength of 400/450. So I went to get an eye exam which confirms my prescription is 375/425. When I returned, things started to get weird. Christal insisted that she can only provide replacement for the older 400/450 prescription. If I wanted to have 375/425 which is the glasses I wear that got broken, I will have to pay for it. Let's see, you break something, you replace with equivalent. Tough concept? Probably not. Not so willing to replace what's broken, probably yes. What was going to be a quick Saturday morning stopover, quickly turned into hours. Blame the unreasonable customer, for wanting to wear glasses that match eye sight. Christal, being the amazing lady she is, finally said "yes". She is going to do a "once time exception", and the replacement lenses will be thin and of equivalent quality with anti-reflective coatings etc. Ok, we got an agreement. How about a print out? No. She said she is too busy to finish entering the order in the "system", will provide a print out "later". Is Christal too dumb to hit the print button? No, she is just being "smart" about it. The customer is the dumb one here. During the week without glasses, I kind of had a weird feeling. But then I kept telling myself, no, that can't be. I have the Pearle Vision Promise, those shiny words on the wall, I am a customer. I will be ok, right? When I returned a week later to try on new glasses, the strength and quality did not feel right. I saw paperwork in the box which showed 1) the strength was ordered at 400/450 against the agreement and not matching those broken; 2) the lenses were "Single Vision Polycarbonate Clear", thick and curved, no coating at all. So what happened to our agreement, Christal? She immediately went into mode, "if you don't like it, go elsewhere" mode, as if she has no recollection of events prior. How about just provide paperwork that describes the replacement you ordered? She kindly went nuts at that point. The climax of this drama came, when I didn't want to leave the store without the paperwork. Christal M called police to force us to leave. Yes, it really happened, in the upscale Legacy Village shopping center, several police cars arrived at Pearle Vision store with sirens sounding, it was quite a scene. Wow, that was quite a customer experience. Got my lenses broken, being played tricks with, denied wearable glasses, and got men with guns coming at me for being a Pearle Vision customer??? Fortunately, the police officer handled the situation calmly, and advised me to take the matter to the corporate office instead. Talking about corporate, I haven't heard anything back yet, after two weeks without wearable glasses. Do you know that Luxottica (http://www.luxottica.com), the Italian parent company that owns Pearle Vision, also owns LensCrafters, Sears Optical, Target Optical? The list goes no... Yes, you can complain all you want to the largest optical company in the world, they probably just laugh. Oh, they might call the police on you too. read more

This is my place for all things eye mainly because my insurance is crap... Have had ok experiences here over the 4 or 5 visits ive had here.. The doctor is very nice and her part of the business is exceptional. She listens to what you have to say as well as offers advice and helps you understand what may be going on with your vision.. The girls doing the glasses i have had some off experiences with. I recently purchased lenses and frames and was told i had 30 days if i wanted to get the better lenses. When i was originally quoted i was told it would be about 30 dollars more a lens to get the transitions. Well when i called back to change my mind and get the transitions about a week later i was told that quote was not correct(wish i had gotten it on paper) and was informed it would actually be about 200 more then what i had already paid... This was my only issue with them.. Other then that they seem to be ok. read more

Had a great experience here. All three staff members I interacted with were helpful and took time to explain things. I would come back here and highly recommend this location for vision care. I was in & out within 40 minutes, and that includes an exam, browsing for new frames, a dilated eye exam, and payment. Plenty of parking. Good selection of frames from lots of brands. read more

Lyndhurst Pearl Vision does not return Non-prescription sunglasses!! Only exchange. Their staff is not familiar with Maui Jim sunglasses that they sell. I stopped to have my Maui Jim sunglasses fixed. I was informed they are beyond repair and can be thrown out. MAUI JIM REPLACES AND SERVICES THEIR OWN GLASSES. Trusting their professionalism I picked out a new pair of Maui Jims, but fortunately did not throw out my old pair. The new style, from their limited selection, did not feel comfortable while driving. Pearl would only exchange and wanted to deal with Maui Jim for me. After going online to find a better style, Maui Jim informed me I can replace my broken pair for less than half retail price. Another detail Not shared by Pearl. EXTREMELY overpriced. Selling discontinued obsolete frames for over $200 and found out later other places were carrying them for $55. No changes to orders, ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS regardless of the issues - even if it is their fault. If you have issues with your order, be prepared to be treated poorly and you will not get a refund. Walmart and Lenscrafters run circles around these folks and treat their customers so much better. Will not be going back. read more

The manager/employee there was extremely condescending and rude. A larger woman with blonde mullet-esque hair. She provided no help and spoke to me as if I "should have known". The overall experience with her was like pulling teeth. A particular example was when I asked if they took my insurance, assuming a very reasonable question, she talked down to me and said she'd have to wait and call the insurance company. That's fine, ridiculous that they don't know what insurance they take, but fine; however, please do not speak to me with a grin of condescension and acting if I should have known YOU don't know anything. Upon leaving, because she couldn't help me, I asked if she had any recommendations in the area. She said "I dunno, try beachwood". As if exhausted. After I left, I spoke with Sears Optical, LensCrafters and Visionworks. All three were extremely pleasant and helpful. After learning they didn't take my insurance, they referred me on to each other. I booked a contact lens exam here as it was in network, and close to home. I regret having done so. I paid the full amount owed at the point of service, yet 2 months later ,received a bill. When I called ,was told "oh ,yes, a bunch of bills went out "in error", but you need to call another no. After I left two messages, and a week went by, I received a message that it was a "mistake", and to disregard. No apology .Luckily, I recalled that I had paid the full amount and did not automatically pay the bill, as I typically do. 4 months after I purchased a new brand of contact lens from this Pearle, I decided that I preferred my old Accuvue Oasis to the new Bausch and Lomb brand, so I called to ask them to switch MY SAME PRESCRIPTION (no changes) to the Accuvue brand. I was told that after 90 days ,I needed to pay for a new contact lens exam, even though I had no problems, just wanted a different manufacturer. I also realized that while the store had my Rx on file, they never handed me my contact lens handwritten prescription, to which I was entitled. There is no logical reason request a new exam every 90 days .Typically an optometrist prescription is good for one year, for a patient who has no changes in vision, or other complaints, just prefers the exact same rx in another manufacturer brand. The only reason must be to generate additional monies for the business. From now on, I will stick with my good'ol private optometrist, instead of a chain. A bit more expensive up front, but less costly , and more patient centered in the end. JBB read more
