I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience here. My girlfriend's contact lens prescription was done incorrectly the first time, which required her to return the contacts and redo the exam. That alone was frustrating and time-consuming. After repeating the exam, they provided trial contacts again. The first time, we didn't realize the trial lenses were off, but this time everything appeared to be correct. However, when we called to place the new order, we were told we had to pay again -- even though we had already returned the incorrect contacts. They claimed they never received the returned contacts and refused to take any accountability. As a result, we were out several hundred dollars. This feels completely unfair and unprofessional. What makes this even more disappointing is that I've been a frequent customer and have recommended this office to friends. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning. read more

Not good if you are new to contacts. I paid for a contact lens fit and follow-up. They made me feel like I was bothering them when I told them my vision was blurry with some of the lenses. They were reluctant to give me replacement lenses when some of my trials had torn. And I was ultimately told that they could not keep giving me free trials. As if I am gaining anything by dealing with blurry vision and having to call them every week for a different lens. My last trial I was only given a single day of trial lenses and told that was all they would give me. Despite the fact they are professional and generally polite, the staff seems to be pretty insensitive to the clients' needs. A prescription is needed to try different brands of contacts, it is not like I can just buy any brand that I want. This place is fine for eye exams but keep in mind the goal is obviously for you to make an eyewear purchase, so do yourself a favor and don't go here. When the eye exam is over they could give a shit about if you can actually see or not. It also seemed like they were hyping up a certain manufacturer's brand of contacts being on sale, despite me telling them that they were extremely uncomfortable on my eye. I only go here because they are in-network with my eye insurance, but after this experience I will not be going back. read more

Bad customer service on several occasions. What's interesting is when my husband goes there he gets good service, but when it's me it is a different story. Today was the last time I go there. I was welcomed by a rude lady (blonde pregone) she was very short and rude with me, like I came begging her for something. She spoke to me like I was a little girl. I was with teenage son who broke his glasses and needed new ones ASAP. He even said she was rude and not pleasant and that he didn't want glasses from them. When I decided to leave she just said "okay" like I was bothering her and she was relieved I was leaving. I wasn't gonna give them my business!! Very rude in many occasions. Not going in there again. I had all the communications that I had an appointment. When I get there they kept saying I didn't have one that it changed many times. That i needed to pay to schedule another one. My glasses were broken and they couldn't even help me get a prescription. I've always had excellent luck getting eye exams here, so this review isn't directed at the optometrists, BUT I absolutely DO NOT recommend buying glasses or lenses at this Pearle Vision. I was charged $741 dollars to put new prescription lenses into 2 pairs of sunglasses (that I had already purchased from this Pearle Vision several years prior!). They upcharged me for lens coatings that I was not interested in nor was I notified about despite me commenting that I was concerned about the price. Despite my better judgement I paid for the lenses and left the store about 30 minutes to 1 hour before it closed. I immediately looked online to see if those prices were in line with other retailers and found out that I had been grossly overcharged. I called the next morning as soon as the store opened to cancel my order and was told that I would be charged a 20% restocking fee because the lenses had already been started. I find it hard to believe that lenses that were supposed to take 7 days were already in production hours after ordering. They didn't offer to price match but they offered a discount or told me that I could opt to remove a costly lens coating that I hadn't agreed to in the first place ... ummmmm ... no thanks. Even with those "concessions" I would still be paying HUNDREDS of dollars more than I would have been paying elsewhere. So now I'm out $140 bucks with nothing to show for it because I made the stupid decision to trust that a business would be looking out for its customers. Did I mention I've been going there for years and originally purchased the sunglasses through them several years ago?!! This is how you treat your loyal customers? Good lord. I even reached out to the owner to see if he realized how shady the retail department had gotten but he never even acknowledged my message. So save yourself the hassle and a TON of money head over to lensabl.com for replacement sunglasses lenses or Warby Parker for cute new prescription frames. I ordered a new pair of glasses using existing frames at a cost of almost $300. When I picked them up today, I was handed the glasses. I was not asked to try them on in order to make sure everything was fine nor was I even given a case to put them in. When I asked for a case, I was told that would cost me another $5! Seriously? You make me a pair of glasses and then don't provide a case to put them in? Very disappointed as I have always had excellent service from this location. read more

I went to this Pearle because its conveniently located near my home. I had a pair of glasses from another Pearl that needed an adjustment. The girl that assisted me was very nice and took the glasses back. But when she came out, she said that one of my lenses had chipped during the adjustment process. She immediately said they would replace them. Luckily I always have a spare pair, just in case...and she said it would take about 5 weeks. I left, and just got a call that they were in, so it was a little less than 3 weeks I got them back. The girls in the store were very pleasant, and attentive. They were also very apologetic about the damage to the first lens. The store was spotless and had a nice variety of frames to choose from. I saw some negative reviews and I wonder if they were specifically for the Saugus store on Rt. 1, or a different location. read more

HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!!! Employee Lindsey Mcguiness will only interact with you and assist you if she knows you're paying. Went in their with my husband, she had no problem assisting him.. after I picked out the glasses I wanted, only assistance I received was when she asked me to email her my prescription. She asked my husband if I was paying or he was. Why not ask me???? A week later when we came back to measure my husband's glasses, she only assisted him, again. I had to ask her if my glasses were ready, which they were. She went and got them. THAT'S IT. I thought they were suppose to ask if the glasses were good and make adjustments?? Went for a routine eye exam for new contacts. I paid $79 out of pocket at that time. I provided my insurance and thought I was good to go. Apparently the insurance information wasn't taken down correctly. Long story short by the time this was realized it was too late for the insurance company to pay their share. So I was stuck having to pay another $309. $458 is outrageous to pay even without insurance. Always used to go to Pearle Vision. Never again! read more

This is the second time around for me with them and I've ended up paying a lot of money for glasses that I cannot wear. This place seems really friendly and people are leaving good reviews so I might be that one customer who just got the shit end of the stick, but.... I wouldn't go back there if my life depended on it. I came in last week to get a routine eye exam for a regular spectacle prescription as well as for contacts. I made my appointment for 7pm but wasn't seen until 7:30, they close at 8. I don't fault them for that because it was busy. but I didn't appreciate the 10 minute exam. It doesn't make me feel good as a customer that she saw me for a few minutes and voila done. I have the worst vision ever so I know how long a typical appointment should take, so no happy with that. I had a few follow up appointments for contacts lenses, again each time waiting for an average of 20 minutes each time. I timed my visits because there was nothing else to do except die slowly in the waiting room. At my last follow-up, I was all set to check out. and It was with Steve. Upon check-out, Steve asked if I wanted to order contacts, and I told him I usually ordered online, and that I had a ski trip to go to (today, Jan 15, 2015) so I need to expedite it. He said that if they were cheaper online then he could match the price and they would do priority shipping for me free of charge. He sold me on that part and said they'd love to do whatever they can to keep customers coming back and ordering directly from the Office. As we wrap up, he promises me that they should be there on thursday Jan 14, 2016. I had my sister go and pick them up for me and they weren't ready. I called today, they weren't ready. Look I totally get that they have no power over the shipping people, but they had all the power to tell me correct information. I wouldn't bought my contacts at Pearle Vision if it was going to take this long. I specifically said I was going to buy them online and pay for 2 day shipping because I needed them asap, but he lied and said they would expedite the shipping themselves. I postponed my trip to saturday, and today they are telling me it won't come in until monday. From my view point, it looks like they did whatever they can to sell me stuff through the office rather than me taking my business elsewhere. read more

As usual I had great experience. Today , I called and spoke to Mary Lou. I explained to her that my Daughter glasses need some minor repair. She first checked the warranty. After she informed me of no warranty left , she assured me she will take care of it if not badly broken. When I arrived , she was there waiting and she took good care of us. I've been going here for glasses for a long time, about 14 years. Had some good experiences and some not so good experiences. Below is my most recent experience, which has caused me to find another eyeglass retailer. About a year ago I bought a pair of Nike frames with transition lenses, great frame and lenses for around $697. A couple of months ago I noticed the right lens was scratched to the point where it was affecting my vision. The left lenses didn't have a single scratch. I figure it was a defect in the anti scratch coating on the right lens so I brought them in hoping to have the right lens replaced for free. The lady I talked to said something to the affect that something like that is normal for lenses in my price range - alluding that I had bought cheap lenses. I made mention that I didn't consider $697 cheap, she simply blew it off and said I could pay for a new lens if I'd like. The frame had gotten a little mangled two days before when they fell out of my pocket and I accidentally and lightly stepped on them. So I asked her how much a replacement frame would be so I could put the good lens in it and buy a new one. She told me that Nike changes their frames every year and that it would be impossible for her to match it. She asked me if I'd like to buy a new frame and two lenses. At that point I looked at her like she was the idiot she apparently thought I was, took my glasses and left. I'd give the review 3 stars for average but my last experience was not 'A-OK' in the least. read more

Then I picked out glasses and the owner (Carmine) helped me select the right pair of progressive lenses. I have been getting my eyeglasses here since 1988. Carmine and his staff have always given the best customer service I could hope for over these past 26 years. When making my glasses they always go above and beyond to satisfy me and to make sure I can see my best. I always have my eye check up with the doctors in his office and the latest being Dr. Bourne, who was incredibly knowledgeable and very experienced. He cautioned me to visit a specialist before getting my glasses. That's superb service and medical advice ! I have always had progressive lenses with Cristal and Varilux lenses because of the clarity I get in my vision. It seems that I've had blurriness for quite some time. Carmine suggested these lenses and to my amazement, they worked! A little more expensive but my vision is priceless! Angela and the girls working there from the doctors office area to the eyeglass specialists area are friendly and helpful. Carmine helped me pick out my latest pair of the trendiest glasses and I have had so many complements. I was overdue with my new prescription. everyone was very friendly and professional, the doctor was so nice and made me feel very comfortable and really explained my eye problems in a way I could understand. making the appointment was very simple and convenient for my schedule. My husband and I actually had appointments that day, after we were both seen, there was a woman named Marylou who helped us find our glasses, she was so polite with a great personality, you could tell she really loves her job. She took the time to explain different styles and made suggestions on what she thought would be best for us, I never felt pressured to buy anything from her or rushed to make a decision. We both left with a pair of glasses picked out with dates on when they would be ready. we were both very satisfied overall with our experience. I stopped in here to pick out some new glasses. The selection of frames is pretty good overall. Nicole was great. She helped me pick out some frames to fit my face and look, very helpful. I got my glasses fairly quickly. The satisfaction ends there. The problem is and I should know better is I got an anti-glare coating. It was not made clear it was a coating otherwise I would have said no. After wearing the glasses for about 3 weeks, the glasses were driving me crazy since while wearing the glasses I could see my reflection in the lens, sounds weird huh?!? It felt weird as well so much so it was effecting my vision. I called and explained and the staff said bring the glasses back for a replacement of the lens with no anti-glare coating. In addition, after only 3 weeks of wear the "anti glare" coating was coming off in spots. This drove me crazy too as it made it seem the lens were dirty or I was seeing spots. I bought two pair as they were having BOGO (that is another story.....RIP OFF!) so I did not wear the anti glare glasses everyday. The glasses should not have worn like that. The problem is I paid 95+ extra for anti glare. When I asked if they were going to refund the difference, they gave some lame ass excuse which basically led to no. A good business stands by a product and/or is willing to offer some sort of compromise to make a customer satisfied. They could have offered me a store credit or 1/2 of the cost back. I had a better experience going to Four Eyes. I had been going to them in the Government Center location for years. I NEVER had a problem, they were always willing to replace, fix, adjust or whatever you needed. That is what a good business does. Sadly, that location closed. I have been wearing glasses for 30 years, this is the WORST experience I have ever had buying and wearing glasses. I gave them 2 stars because of Nicole, she really was helpful. The doctor that performed my eye exam seemed to be in a big rush! I was a bit nervous since this was my first eye exam and her rushing around did not calm my nerves. She did however have time to smile and joke with the other employee in the room. She barely addressed me other than asking me to QUICKLY answer her questions. Please please, DO NOT GO HERE! The optometrist herself was pleasant and professional. However, the rest of the staff was not. When I went to buy a pair of lenses, the girl who took care of me was surly and mentioned to another employee that she'd gotten into it with another employee. Did I need to hear this? No. Did she need to take it out on the clients? Nope. YOU ARE WRONG at their store. Don't try to tell them why you are upset because THEY DON'T CARE. My insurance was supposed to cover the entire cost of the lenses. The optometrist added polycarbonate to my lens order; no one there told me there was an additional charge for it. When the bill came out to be $280, I asked why, and the sales girl told me that the insurance just covered part of the lens cost. My insurance policy paid 100 percent for basic lenses, polycarbonate cost more but the store never mentioned this when I was billed or when I paid, so I had no chance to approve or reject the higher cost of the lenses. Classic bait and switch. When checking out, I asked for my pupilary distance. I was told they couldn't for "legal" reasons. BS, folks. You are entitled to that measurement as it is a part of your eye measurement. The only reason that Pearl Vision decides to not give it to you is that they don't want you buying a second pair elsewhere. But since their glasses are so overpriced, I have to! I called the store when I got home to cancel the order. They put on the manager and I told him about the price discrepancy. He finally explained why I was being charged an extra $150 dollars (for the polycarbonate lenses) and I told him that the sales girl should have told me that when I was given the bill. The manager then started talking over me, saying how great the service was there, and I told him that reviews online said otherwise. He then accused me of only coming by to get my pupilary measurement. By then I was pissed! When I ordered the glasses a few minutes earlier, I tried to get my glasses made that day because I needed them badly and, of course, they refused. The soonest they could do them was 4-5 days, which was very inconvenient for me. To sum it up again, YOU are WRONG at their store. I recently went into this office with my wife, Jen. I am lucky and have very good vision. I went for my 2 or 3 year checkup nevertheless. My wife on the other hand doesn't have the best eye sight and I feel for her greatly. We had nothing short of a great experience. I don't like the puff in the eye test but Dr. Reppucci and her staff we're great; thorough and pleasant to deal with. I should have read the reviews!!! I was trying to find an eye doctor closer to home but I've had to pay out of pocket to go see my old eye doctor after going here to get the right prescription. Its been almost three weeks since my yearly exam here and i still don't have a contact lens prescription. My eye exam here, with a doctor I've never seen before, was maybe 10 minutes long. Any question i asked was answered with a yes or no. Contacts were thrown on the table in front of me to try. My right eye randomly got doubly worse with a astigmatism? She tried to write me my prescription right there but i said i wanted to make sure the prescription was right because it was so off from any other prescription i have ever had in my life. I also said i wanted the same contact brand I've worn for 3 years. She said she was giving me contacts to try for comfort not prescription?!? She gave me a brand I've tried before that i know don't work for me...even though i told her this. I left the office with a prescription so far off from what my right prescription is and i left with a contact brand that doesnt work with my eyes. I waited 4 days for another brand to ship to them for me to try. They were blurry just like the first one (no kidding). When i called to speak to the doctor they said it was the contacts so they were finally going to order a trial of the contacts I've been using for the past 3 years...thankfully! Waited another 4 days for those to ship....tried them on and guess what?!??! They're blurry!!!! No kidding. I'm not even bothering going back. Any time I've ever gone to the eye doctor you leave with multiple brands of contacts to try and if they are not right they bring you back in to check your eyes.. I left with 1 that i already new wouldn't work. Also can't order glasses because the prescription is way off and i now have a magical astigmatism. I've been wearing old scratched glasses everyday to work waiting for a miracle but I'm done waiting. I will go pay another $110 for an eye exam somewhere else. Great waste of money. I would not recommend. The front staff is pleasant but does not make up for the doctor. Go here if you want a bad prescription in 10 minutes time. read more

Would add more stars if we could! If you are a Civil War (or whatever) re-enactor, head here for great service and great prices on prescription lenses for vintage or repro frames. After buying a genuine pair of mid-1800s frames online (for only $30), we couldn't find anyone to make the lenses, but after a referral from Vinny at Costco (thank youuuuuuu!) we stumbled upon Carmine at Pearle Vision in Saugus. Carmine was delighted to take on the challenge of working with these old, thin, and delicate frames and fitted new lenses in only a few hours for $80! (Would have been about $110 without insurance.) He has specialized equipment which enables him to cut, grind, and bevel the lenses to fit into these vintage frames that every other lab we visited ran away from! So, if you're a re-enactor and need glasses at a reasonable price (some re-enactors had told us they paid $350+ elsewhere for their glasses - eek!) to fit your time period, check out this place...they did an awesome job for us! read more

This is the best place to get glasses! I am not saying this lightly either. Their technicians who cut the lenses really know their stuff and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Mary Lou helped me with a complicated issue with some lenses that I had made in a fancy Downtown Boston Optometrist. She new exactly what the problem was and why they weren't fitting correctly. I had them remade with Pearl (where I should have gone in the 1st place-since I had a good experience with them previously but my insurance was not accepted by Pearl) and I am so happy. They no longer fall off my face for no reason! It ended up costing me $50 more to buy my lenses from Pearl because they didn't take my insurance but I will NEVER go anywhere else again. It does make a difference who cuts the lenses and if they know what they are doing. I am not a person who usually go to "chains" if I can avoid it, but the staff here is amazing. And the owner, Carmen, helped me previously and was awesome as well. They have a life long customer in me. read more
