My friend told me about Pearson Auto so I gave them a call and they gave me the Lowest pricing and booked my appt for that Friday. Crazy! Friday came around and I dropped my car off. The front receptionist was very kind and friendly. She assured me the car would be ready for pick up later that day and sure enough it was. These guys were so fast and awesome and they gave me a call a week or 2 later to ensure everything ran smoothly. Made an appointment for 9 am to get the shocks changed out on my truck. Dropped it off and it took me to call (10 times before anyone answered) them for them to say they wouldn't be able to get it in at 5 pm. They tried to charge me $1200 for it and said it would take them 8 hours to do the job. Any mechanic out there knows it would take 4 hours, if that. Horrible auto shop. They didn't even have the courtesy to call me earlier in the day to say they wouldn't be able to do it that day or at least anything along the lines of "you might want to come plug your truck in we wont be able to do it as early as we hoped" and my truck froze outside. Now I'm busting my ass in -30°F trying to get it to start. No wonder they're rated less than 3 stars. read more

We had a very mixed experience with this shop. While scheduling was fast, we got an appointment the next day, the staff were kind, and the facility was clean and professional, the diagnostic work itself was extremely disappointing. We were told our 2012 Hyundai Elantra needed over $5,000 in parts and labor and were advised to get rid of the car, with comments that Hyundais are junk and not worth fixing, which caused weeks of unnecessary stress. We also paid a $125 inspection fee for this diagnosis. After taking the car to a second shop, we learned the issue was actually minor and was repaired for under $700, making it clear the original diagnosis was either rushed or careless and possibly influenced by a reluctance to work on this make of vehicle. While the customer service was pleasant, the mechanical assessment was not reliable, and I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before making any major decisions based on their evaluation. read more

I used this repair shop to replace the timing belt on my vehicle. When my vehicle was finished, I prepped it to be shipped to my next duty location. When I went to pick-up up the vehicle from the VPC, the car broke down on the way home. After having a mobile mechanic come and look at my car, he diagnosed it as an interference engine. I contacted Pearson to resolve the issue and they were helpful and worked with me to find a solution, and reimbursed me for the repair costs the car would require. read more

Had the clutch replaced in our truck about 3 years ago. Moved out of state And clutch is out again. We are not hard on this truck so we called to see if there was some kind of warranty. They said their warranty is only good for a year. The mechanic we now go to in Wisconsin said the manufacturer of clutch, I believe is south bend, honors their product for five years. He called the manufacturer himself and was told Pearsons never put in the paperwork to honor the warranty. Nice people, but their error is costing us another 3 grand again only a few years later. read more

They quoted me $7,000 dollars for repairs on my 2014 ram 1500. Took it to a different shop and got the repairs done for $2,800. The 2nd shop told me that a handful of things Pearson told me needed to be replaced was totally wrong and that they were perfectly fine. Truck is still running great months later with zero issues. I just wanted to update, I reached out to them to discuss the issues and I didn't even get courtesy call back. To put onto perspective of the over charge on tires. I took three cars to another shop in North Pole and they charged me $65.00 dollars a car to remove, mount and balance tires per car. I think they are praying on people who don't know better and the poor military people. My advice to anyone going there is to get a second opinion before you commit to repairs. We scheduled a pre purchase inspection to be done today on a canary 2002 Chevrolet Silverado that we were buying for our son. We arranged to have the vehicle brought to Pearson's by the seller, conduct a bumper to bumper inspection, then contact us with their findings so that we wouldn't be stuck with a vehicle needing a lot of repairs. Instead Pearson's turned our job into a job for their shop! They let their mechanic talk to our seller and he told them they have a great truck and that he can modify the truck to help make it easier for her to get in and out of it by lowering the height of the truck. So instead of helping up out they created work for them and now the seller won't sell us the truck because she told us Pearson's mechanics talked her into letting them work on it. Then when we asked Michelle what happened today she claimed she has no idea and that the seller decided to not sell the truck, so they won't charge us the $125 for looking at it and won't charge the vehicle owner for looking at it. Michelle flat out lied to us and said she doesn't know what happened when in fact the seller told us that Michelle does know exactly what's going on because Michelle is scheduling the suspension modifications. This place can not be trusted! We have used them in the past and will never ever use them ever again. And I would suggest to anyone considering using this place to reconsider, because if they blatantly lied to us what do you think they will do to you?? read more

Great customer service! I went in to get an oil change for my truck and was very impressed with the customer service they offered. The front desk is helpful and called me by name. They even had a board written welcoming everyone coming in for the day- and my name was spelled correctly which almost never happens! When the oil change was nearly finished the gentleman who worked on my truck took me to the back and showed me different things going on with my vehicle- taking the time to explain everything and answering all my questions. I called to make an appointment to have my van a/c repaired. The lady said they could check it the next morning. I let them know I would be dropping off that night before. She took my name, number, a brief description of the problem, and year of my van. I dropped it off an put my keys in the drop box. There was no envelopes or clipboard for information. Here is the issue. The next day I had not heard from them, I called at 3:30 pm and say I am checking on my Ford van. She says: I am glad you called, we had no idea who's van that was, it needed the a/c checked, is that correct? I was like really? I need to pick it up. She says that's OK we can reschedule you again. I brought my truck in to have them look at a fan spinning off center. After 7 hours they wouldn't pick me up and wouldn't put my timing belt back on after they spent the entire day looking for issues I already knew about and not ordering parts I found at auto zone in under 2 minutes. Do not even let this place look at your vehicle or you will be paying $500 for no work done. read more

Click funnel hell! I had a clear diagnosis of a broken power steering line from Seekins but they couldn't get me for 60 days so I called around and Pearsons said they could do that day. I asked for a quote up front- they said they couldn't quote me for the work until I paid $100 for an evaluation (Click). Being naive and feeling like I needed the work done, I said OK and dropped the car off. I got a call a couple hours later in which they outlined miscellaneous work they would like to do for over $2k. The power steering hose replacement was priced as follows: $622 for the repair (wow that seems high). Wait, there is another click coming...In order to get that work done you have to pay an additional $165 for power steering service (Click). So the power steering line repair was going to cost me, $787. That seemed high and the other work was a ridiculous list of odds and ends that were not needed as I had another inspection to compare it to. I told the service rep to wait and not do any work while I did some research. He said fine and that he would email me the list of work. When I received the quote from the sales rep via email all of the power steering work was listed as "In progress, cleared by customer to do the work." I thought I must have read wrong so I called them up and sure enough they said there must have been a miscommunication. I asked them again to stand down while I did some research. Had I not noticed that, I would have been on the hook for an $800 repair. Next I checked the same repair I had done by Seekins a year earlier and it was only $400. By this time I was getting bothered. I called Chevron on Illinois St and told them I had a diagnosis from Seekins and needed the high pressure line repaired. Can you believe it they were able to give me a quote for that with no questions asked. And here I thought that was impossible. Chevron quoted $550. I picked up my van from Pearsons Click Funnel Hell Auto and dropped it at Chevron. The same day Chevron called and said the aftermarket part didn't fit and they had to order from Nissan but would cover the additional cost and rush the part. Wow what a contrast. Thanks Chevron. On another note, I had a similar Pearson experience with Simard Auto and paid $180 for a oil change but that is a story from another time. I feel so sad for all the people who are hoodwinked by the click funnels that take advantage of us ignorant non-mechanic types. read more

Worst auto service I've taken a vehicle to on the Alaska road system, which says a lot since I've been here my whole life. I took my truck in to do a check on my transmission to see if they could figure out what was causing my shifting to miss. The front desk labeled this as a "check on the clutch" , which I never mentioned. After processing the truck to the mechanic, they told me in a condescending way that "automatic's don't have clutches". As if I didn't know that already, and I never mentioned anything about the clutch itself. After already wasting two days of my vehicle being there, they then rattled off a list of 10 different issues that when repaired would've amounted to over $7,000, (none related to the transmission) which is more than the vehicle is worth. I looked through what they found, and was taken back by how much Pearson's wanted to charge for each individual job. One included a battery replacement for $310. Anyone who has used a wrench before can do this one on their own and buy a battery for less than $100. And, this job alone would take me, an unlicensed mechanic, about 10 minutes. Everything else they wanted to charge was way outside the norm , and after researching the labor hours and price it definitely didn't add up. Some made it seem there was a $300/ hour shop rate. This would be feasible if I was racing ferraris for a living maybe but not doing simple work on a daily driver. Front desk seemed irritable to other customers, and not happy to be there. I'm actually convinced this business makes money from scamming than labor, and feel sorry for anyone who has actually paid for their service. read more

Took my vehicle here for routine oil change and air filter change with purchase of new tires. Spent a good chunk of money just to have nothing but problems on my 3 year old vehicle within a week of bringing it home. The shop was busy trying to get out of town and it showed. I have since spent over $300 more dollars to fix my issues. Not to mention the hours spent wasted in waiting rooms, to fix their screw up. My tires were also poorly balanced if at all. Horrible service!! Do NOT go here!!!! Liars!! Very manipulative!! If you're a young woman or a grandma do NOT go here!!!!! They can not be trusted and will try to take advantage of you. I brought my grandma a autostart as a Christmas gift. Never had a problem with my grandmas car ever before. They placed the autostart in her car. The autostart completely messed up her car multiple times. She drove home with no heat in -30 because the autostart drains the battery and affects everything in the car. They placed a faulty autostart in the car. Brought the car in 3 times to fix the problem with the autostart. Never had a problem ever with the car. They recommend us to buy a new battery and said it was not the autostart causing problems, so we bought a new one from them and let them install it. The problem still occurred with the new battery. The autostart clearly was the cause of all the problems. Never had a problem with vehicle or vehicle battery before. After paying for autostart and buying a new battery from them they wanted to charge us another $90 just to look at it again.. Went back and forth with Jonathan Pearson's (owner), wife Michelle Pearson (manager). She tried to make multiple fishy deals with us over the phone and lied the whole entire time to us. They were going to refund the autostart but would not refund the battery. We decided we wanted nothing else to do with them and asked for them to just keep the money and take out the autostart and battery that they placed and we would get it towed and taken someplace else. Michelle proceeded to tell me they would not remove the autostart or battery anymore and I quote she told us to "take the car to another shop and get a second opinion on the problem, if the other shop finds a problem with Pearson auto's work on the car than they would refund everything." I said no, we will not be going back and forth with them horrible way to go about business and we will tow it home from there shop. read more

Okay... where do I begin? Well first, we originally brought our truck that was in a minor accident to the Fairbanks Collision Center.. the truck needed an alignment so they sent it to Pearsons. When we got the truck back, the alignment was COMPLETELY off. So we brought it directly back to Pearsons so have them fix it again. Everything was just fine until we got home and realized not only did they lose one of our wheel locks, they didn't tell us. So we brought it back again and they took the wheel lock from one of our different tires to put it on the wheel they originally lost and tried getting away with it. They also replaced my steering column, hooked the hoses up wrong and by the time I got home, all my power steering fluid had leaked out and my power steering was screaming like a banshie. They also never called any of those times to tell us when it was ready, I always had to call them. I wish I can remember the name of the ONLY gentlemen that had a head on his shoulders there and helped us by getting us a new set of wheel locks. All in all, we had a terrible experience with this shop and felt absolutely disrespected. read more

Dropped off my car Thursday evening to get remote start installed over the weekend. Got a call Friday afternoon that the mechanic went home and they would finish it on Saturday. That was fine as I wasn't going to be in town until Sunday evening. Finally called them around 6pm on Saturday. They were surprised that I hadn't been called. I asked to pay over the phone so a friend could pick up the key and I could go get the car when I got into town. The person didn't want to at the time because their hands were dirty but they would be back in the shop on Sunday 9-1 and they would call me in the morning. Finally on Sunday around noon I gave them a call, no answer, and left a message. I called back around one and still no answer and left another message. I got into town on Sunday just before midnight and decided to take off work Monday. Good thing too because when I went to pick it up the battery was dead, and only the "start" button on the fob was working one I jumped it. The "unlock," "lock," and "trunk" buttons are being looked at now. Also my check engine light and power train failure light are now on when they weren't before. read more
