I adore these guys. Not only do they take care of my vehicle, they treat me as if I am their auntie. They adhere to a standard of old-fashioned service and courtesy . Twice now I've come by with problems that seemed a logistical nightmare to me. Twice they identified small issues that were quickly resolved. I'm very pleased with them. It's nice to be part of their neighborhood. Most recently the "snow hat" that accumulates on the roof of my car abruptly slid forward onto my windshield while the wipers were active. This little drama left the driver's side wiper still attached but inoperative. This happened during a heavy snowfall and made driving very hazardous. I called my car's dealership thinking that they would most likely have any necessary spare part. After two long holds and three people, I spoke to a distracted man who told me that they would have to order any parts, but if I got over there they might be able to take a look. He said their mechanics go home at 4:30 and were very busy. I mentioned that it didn't seem safe to drive under the circumstances, and I wasn't sure I wanted to if they had no parts and could not commit to having a look. So- I decided to take it to University Chevron, where I had no expectation of parts of hand, but where they have treated me well in the past. Jackpot! A charming young man was immediately called out of the back and sent outside with me. He excavated the wiper arm out of the packed snow and popped some mechanical part out. He told me not to worry and took his prize back inside. I'm not clear on what he did, but he re-emerged, fiddled with it, and voila! The wiper was solid and functional again! I'm so impressed! I thought it was going to be a huge expensive problem, but no! In the past I've had occasion to sit quietly in their customer waiting area. While there, I can clearly observe how they speak to and about other customers. It's very reassuring. It's clear that this business has a positive employee culture and is trying to actively cultivate customer loyalty and good will. They sure have earned our respect and loyalty. read more

I want to start by saying that my car was not repaired. Trent is an amazing customer service expert. I was seeking help on an aging Mazda sedan with a bum cv axle. I am a fairly confident shade tree mechanic, but when the axle wouldn't come out after all the help that was available online, I started making calls. Trent was the first person to quote me a reasonable diagnostic fee since I had already begun the repair procedure, most mechanics ended the conversation there, Trent was able to get me the help I needed and the flexibility of his team at University Chevron was a huge relief. The call came a day later than expected but the explanation I got from Trent's team made it more than clear what was going on. These folks tried everything, even some fairly creative ideas that I hadn't considered. This axle was stubborn, and indicated a more serious internal transmission failure. Rather than continue the repair, which would have exceeded the value of a Mazda with close to 200k miles on it, Trent had me come in so we could go over everything in detail. I have the utmost faith that the team at University Chevron exhausted every possible solution before making the call, and it ultimately saved me hundreds on trying other garages just to get the same conclusion. Not every 5 star story is a successful oil change, sometimes true expertise is needed, that can only come with years in the business, to inform the customer that this is, unfortunately the end of the line. Hard words to hear in the first week of October, with the Alaskan frost looming on the horizon, but Trent offered me some options and a way forward to get through the winter, and was able to adjust the final out-of-pocket expense (to reflect the still-broken car) that made it easier to get back out shopping. I was driving and noticed one of my tires began wobbling and it seemed like it was going to fly off my car or that at the very least go flat I knew that University Chevron has an air filling station. I hope and prayed that I could make it there in time. Thankfully I did. The people at the desk called a technician to air my tire and he immediately noticed there was something more serious going on with one of my tires. He offered to look at it and determined that the rim was severely damaged and the air was leaking through that area. He was willing to try and patch the tire despite the dim chance that it was going to solve my issue for the short term. As I told him my car was already scheduled to go in for auto body work on Feb 4th. That's still 2 1/2 weeks away. I was treated very respectfully by all these macho boys club mechanics. Which was refreshing to say the least. The little shop was busy yet I was in and out in less than an hour. I drove to North Pole and did several errands in Fairbanks and still no tire emblem glowing on my dashboard. I know that the rim and tire issue is quite severe so hopefully the repair will hold. I believe that the technician did his very best That's all I can ask of anyone. read more

As a repeat customer over the last twenty years, I look forward to a high level of service from this shop. This visit was a simple one: Replace a destroyed tire (in a difficult-to-find size!). They came through (as usual) with one hiccup: I received a call a few hours after drop off telling me that they found a tire, and it would run me $250 installed. I gave them the green light. When they called to say it was finished, the final bill came to $376. I inquired about the discrepancy, and was told that the tire "cost them a little bit more than they expected." Guys... $126 more for a tire is not "a little bit!" Overall, another decent experience, but please provide accurate estimates when customers authorize work! So, we live in Delta Junction! We do have a mechanic that we use, but he wasn't able to get the reverse lights to work on our truck. We were told it would take over a thousand dollars to get them to work again... We came to town to get groceries, and stopped in here to see our son. After chitchatting with him for a bit, we mentioned the problem with our reverse lights, and one of the mechanics that worked there, Shane, was kind enough to look at the truck for us. Shane very quickly determined that one very simple part needed to be replaced to solve the problem! We were back in the road with working reverse lights for MUCH less than a thousand dollars! Wow. It is so great when your expectations are met and even surpassed. The crew at Mike's Chevron did an outstanding job for me. I wanted to update some parts and fix some nagging repairs on my 1967 Mustang. It wasn't easy to work on a 50 year old car, but they did a great job going through the car fixing the things I requested, and also fixing things that needed repair. They did a great job of keeping me informed on their progress, and went above and beyond following up with the parts manufacturers to overcome issues with them. Wow! These guys are awesome! I just picked up my truck, and all of the work was done, and it drives SO much better. Throughout the whole repair process, I was kept updated by the service advisors. I meet with the technician who was working on my truck, to show me what the problem was. My options and the recommendations were all explained to me very well, and nothing was done without discussing it with me or without my approval. Made an appointment to bring car in for oil and tire change. When I arrived for appointment I was told they had no record of my appointment. I showed them the confirmation email and they said they might be able to squeeze me in. Asked him if he really thought there was a chance to see it that day because I could bring it back another time. He said there was a good chance since I was there early. When I arrived to pick the car up they had my key but no work order for my car. Don't waste your time with them, they certainly don't value your time. read more

We've been going to University Chevron for routine work such as tire change-outs, oil changes, and brake work for 14 years. Always friendly and highly competent service. Call and make an appointment at least two weeks ahead for seasonal work such as tire change outs as they get super busy. That said, there have been a couple of times when we had a tire problem and they worked us in even though they were swamped with work. I recommend them highly. read more

Took my truck in as it kept dying even though I had a 6 month old battery and newly installed winterization kit. Turns out the battery was junk and the trickle charger was actually wired in. This probably is what killed the new battery. They installed a new battery and hooked up the trickle charger with not a problem since. I'll use them from now on. read more

I brought my Trailblazer in to get the serpentine belt changed and it runs way better now. It also had some fluids changed such as the brake fluid so now I'm not so worried about the cold weather driving. The roads feel safer with a tuned up car.
