We purchased a new 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid in August of 2023. Last August we had a problem with the car had to be towed to the dealership! It was there until the middle of December! They replaced multiple modules and eventually they replaced the transmission after their engineers were called in. We had issues again took it in they said they couldn't figure anything out after a couple of weeks and told us to take it home! This happened multiple times and finally in June we took it in again! After a couple of weeks the still hadn't figured it out so we decided to buy a new car and told them we were coming to get it! As they drove it out of the shop the code popped up again the tech came out diagnosed the problem said he would order the part and have it fixed in a week! It is still not fixed and they have no idea what is wrong! The car has been in the shop more time since last August than we have had it! While it is covered under warranty we have still had to pay $2,000 in property tax on a car we can't drive and Hyundai Motor Company will not do anything about it! read more

I leave out the context of why I ended up having a situation where I needed to get into a new car quickly, but the bottom line is that from my first phone call with Justin Silver until I drove off the lot in my new car. it was an amazing experience. The only slightly in the ointment was interaction with their finance guy. I don't like throwing people under the bus so I won't refer to him by name, but he was pushy and obnoxious. The good news is the deal was actually done before I sat down with him And he was nothing more than paperwork... I saw some reviews of people complaining about customer service, and I have to say that they sound more like people with a bone to pick then anything else. To begin with, I got this Kona right in the middle of the lockdowns when these people were by the new Sheetz. Since then, the customer service has been dismal, and expensive to just get an oil change at the dealership, for it to last over 4 to 6 hours, when you make an appointment. Getting tires here has been a horrible experience as their points of contact, like Crystal, lack any type of customer service then when people found out how easy it was to break into these mickey mouse cars that was another experience of having to come back here and be treated like crap since they had a surplus of happy customers, so I stopped coming here. Now I'm going to our family mechanic and just avoided this place altogether. The issue that's now presented itself is, for a 2020 Kona, that I haven't even had for 6 years yet, the bearings on the engine were faulty, and my car never gave me an oil pressure warning, or even sounded off, by the time my car gave me a check engine, it started to click. Now the engine on a 6-year-old car is completely gone, and everyone has told me Hyundai engines are notorious for this issue. I've reached out to get any type of info on gap insurance, which, come to find out they want to wash their hands of this, even though the car never gave me a reason until it was too late. PLEASE take your business elsewhere at this point, cars have become way too expensive for you to have to put up with things like this. read more

Absolute best service anywhere I test drove two cars over two months. They are very patient and Wyatt Nestor my salesman did everything in his power to help me. He was very knowledgeable about all the tech in systems in the car. The buying process was easy and even made arrangements to have a tow hitch put on after purchase and I got a loaner car while it was being done. Bought a truck back in 2022 from them was told I needed this extended warranty plan because I drive a lot of miles during the year. Came time to use the warranty that they sold me and found out it was denied due to the modifications the dealership did to the truck. So basically was sold a warranty that wasn't good from the day it was bought. I was even told by the extended warranty company that the dealership did not setup the warranty right for the truck and I need to contact them to fix the issue but Pearson did not stand behind the deal and wiggled out of it. I bought a 2022 Hyundai Elantra from them recently and start to finish has just been nothing but a big disappointment. To start off, they don't even have their current address online. I go by Uber to the address mentioned just to realize that they have moved to a new showroom. Only then does the salesman (Del) give me the current address. Multiple Uber rides just to reach this place. I then decide to buy a car with them (only because they have the color I liked). After signing all the documents and taking home the car, I get a call that they accidentally gave me the wrong car (Same color car but different vin number, so the documents I signed were for the other car). I have never heard of such BS honestly. I was super patient with them, went back and signed all the new documents. It was almost 30 miles to and fro. Finally, I ask them to mail over the car's license plate and registration and even that they couldn't do properly. The package never arrived and when I call, the lady at the front desk (Angel) is so adamant that she sent it to the right address. I then file a claim with FedEx, multiple calls back and forth and finally Fedex tells me that say that the sender provided the wrong shipping address. I then call the receptionist who is pretty cold and unapologetic and she connects me to the manager. I told him I have proof that you guys made a mistake and that my documents are now lost in transit. No apology on his end, he tells me that there is nothing he can do and asks me to go to the dmv to get new ones. Long story short, I am in the midst of getting new tags. If I had to rate the place on a scale to 1 to 10, it would have to be -100, worst experience ever. Save yourself the heartache and take your vehicle to a trustworthy mom and pop shop where you know they will handle your car with care AND provide genuine customer service. Reading through all of the negative comments I am honestly not surprised one bit by all of the negative things everyone says about this place and especially about the Service Director, Melissa. I'm not one to name drop but this experience has caused 2 months worth of issues/stress and I want to proactively warn those who are considering taking their car to this location. I was unfortunately involved in a series of events with this dealership that went on for TWO month which I also had to escalate up to the General Manager, James. I'll keep this short and sweet so I don't need to relive the nightmare the last couple months has been. I took my car in for a simple oil change and check engine light which resulted in damages being made to my car due to the negligence of the technicians. My entire front bumper and under lining needed to be replaced and somehow the paint was also chipped off in 3 places above my windshield (which they claimed wasn't damaged by them). Honestly, the damages done to my car wasn't even the worst part about dealing with this dealership - The lack of accountability/gaslighting along with awful customer service and gaps in communication was the perfect combination for me to ultimately determine this place to be cancelled. read more

I spoke with destiny around 8:30 letting her know that the keys were stuck in the ignition, so it will get towed. Destiny assured me everything was fine. I get a call from destiny at 12:50! She says they can't find my car and am I sure I had the tow truck driver bring it there. First of all if someone had an appt at 10:40 why would you wait two whole hours to contact them. The tow truck driver went in to the front desk told them where the vehicle was parked but I guess they didn't care. So I had to call them back asking if they found my vehicle. They said yea and TJ my advisor would call me back. Well the weekend passes I hear nothing from him. I had to call and he goes oh it was just some rust on the gear shift, it's up and running now. I told him it hasn't been a year yet since I had this same problem. I didn't feel it was fair for me to have to pay anything. He says I'll get my service manager, Melissa Best to contact you. I never heard from her. I had to call and literally keep asking for her. When I got on the phone with her. She was so short with me it was pathetic. She goes I'm going to get with my advisor and tech and give you a call back. Well two hours later the advisor calls me back. He said did Melissa call you? I said well I had to call her she said she was speaking with you. He said I haven't talked to her. I'm super annoyed with this place. So I contacted corporate who wasn't really much help. But they said Melissa would call at the end of the day. She leaves me a message saying on it's more than rust you need a starter two front tires and oxygen sensors. I'm like but that's not the reason I came in. I knew they just added this on so they wouldn't be liable for something they never fixed to begin with. I call back today on the hunt for TJ. I finally get in touch with him because I'm trying to see how much everything costs. I asked if they did an inspection he was like yeah that's what we do will all cars. I said I just came in for one isolated issue that's it! Do you know he could not find my ticket?!!! He says let me call Melissa to see where she put it. It's now almost Friday. Don't waste your time or money!! I scheduled an appointment to have my car looked at because my regular mechanic said I had an oil consumption issue and I needed to get it replaced by Hyundai. So I got it checked out and Pearson Hyundai Manager Melissa told me I most likely needed an engine replacement but to drive it another 1,000 miles or until my oil light came on. That should have been the first red flag. I broke down a week later and had to pay to get it towed to Pearson. The tech Krystal said I had a problem with my fuel injectors so I expected while my car broke down they would fix my original problem, but no they said I haven't hit my 1,000 miles yet. After looking at the receipt it wasn't my fuel injectors at all I was charged $150 to replace a corroded bolt... red flag number 2. Guess what my car broke down another week later and I had to pay to get it towed again to Pearson. After becoming so frustrated that my car was constantly breaking down since they started messing with it I demanded the consumption issue be fixed because my oil light was now on. I then had to wait to have it approved which was insane considering I hadn't even hit 100,000 miles yet and clearly it was an engine issue. I got a new engine and I thought things were going to get better and I'd never have to come back. Well no, they didn't connect a line back when replacing my engine so my car was now blowing hot air. I got told over and over the engine replacement had nothing to do with the ac. I knew my ac was fine before all of this started and drove there to have someone look at it and guess what... it was their fault because they didn't connect the line back. Red flag number 3!! All while my car was there for the engine replacement I asked to get a quote on getting my drivers side seat fixed. Krystal quoted me $265. I said sure go ahead and fix it. The same day I drove up there to have them look at my ac they "fixed" my seat. Red flag number 4, not only did they charge me $265 for my seat it wasn't fixed.... I asked to have my seat actually fixed or a refund and manger Melissa told me it would cost me more money to fix my seat. You charged me knowing the seat wasn't fixed and then want more money to completely fix it? Hell no. I'll never let you touch my car again. You all should be ashamed and embarrassed of yourselves for how to treat clients. You had me go round and round because YOU don't know how to do your job. Had an appointment for 11 am for my Honda CR-V for an oil change and tire rotation. I gave my phone number so that I could be called after my car service was finished. I waited and sat in the dealership for OVER 2 hours and never received a call. I asked someone and they said the cashier has the paperwork. Went up to her and she finished it there and then one of the workers directed me to my car that was finished and seemed to have been done for a while. Nobody ever called me and I had to ask for an update! Also, one lady who came in after me as a walk in for a oil change and inspection got her car before me! I even had an appointment and waited much longer than her. Another person also came in much later than me, and got her car before me. So expect to wait a long time if you need servicing here. read more

My fiancé purchased a vehicle from this dealership. They completely low balled my trade, so we removed it from the deal. They quoted me one rate in the salespersons office and the rate mysteriously went up for the 60 month term but was lower on the 72 month term once we were in the finance office. That was their way of trying to get us to go with a 72 month term so the finance manager(Angela Willoughby) can sell us extended service contracts. Typical used car sales behavior. Anybody that has done finance knows that the rate does not go down when you extend the term past 60 months, it always goes up. I let it slide because my fiancé really wanted the car and we wouldn't find another like it and at that point I was tired. Well imagine my surprise when I realize there is only one key for the vehicle! We paid their asking price for the car which was 27k, bought gap insurance that was as marked up to the max and let the finance manager mark up her rate and they won't even provide a 2nd key. I tried reaching out to the salesperson but he was mysteriously never available. I then emailed the sales manager (Robert Ross) and received no response. Finally I reached out to the used car director (Rick Garland) and his only response was they only pass on the keys they get when acquiring the vehicle. It's not hard nor would it cost them much to get an additional key made for the car, they just don't care to have a satisfied customer since they have made their money. I've sold cars before and I was also a finance manager and I truly believe sales people deserve to make money by being honest and providing good service. We weren't even given a proper test drive we were just given a dealer tag by the salesperson (George Best)and sent off by ourselves. Last time I checked it is against VA laws to drive on a dealer tag with out a sales persons license. I buy cars often but I most certainly won't ever entertain purchasing another vehicle from any Pearson dealership. read more

Never had a smooth experience here. Had parts dept delay parts I ordered requiring lots of calling and pushing to get items. Calls to schedule inspection and check up. Person on phone was very difficult. Told to just bring any day and expect couple hr wait. Went in and told i needed appointment. Finally told to leave my car and may be late day or next day. I passed inspection but had to go back 3 days later because neither headlight that passed 2 days earlier worked. Checkin person in service again difficult. 2 people sitting on cell phones. After complaining they replaced bulbs free. Got home and I was better checking my invoice and noticed it was for the service done but someones elses name, address, vin number, email address and both phone numbers. Their carelessness shared way too much of someones elses information. Whole service check in area is horrible. While waiting in customer wait area a gentleman was telling 2 other people about the poor service. Said he would never buy another car there because of service area. read more

They should be ashamed of themselves and then to add insult your technician is going to stand here and lie to me telling me it takes a lot to change a bulb. If I could I would give Pearson Hyundai zero stars. I found a RAV4 we wanted. We test drove the car Monday. We decided to purchase and offered to place money as a deposit to hold it. Their policy states they cannot hold use cars only new ones. I had communications back and forth with our sales agent. I filled out the finance information and pre approved through Capital One. Had scheduled time with our sales agent today at 6pm to bring in the down payment and get the car. I sent him a text message this morning confirming our appointment and asked if there was anything else I had to bring. Didn't get a response until later this afternoon stating they sold the RAV4. They stated they can't hold used cars. If you have an appointment to come purchase the car and they sell it before your appointment that's BS. Will never have me as a customer that is poor customer relations. I even called an spoke with Keith to have my credit inquiry reversed they stated they cannot. Pearson Hyundai - RAV4 I wanted to purchase - Car Dealers Near Me - Midlothian, Virginia

Damage was done to my vehicle from my scheduled appointment on June 28, 2023 for an oil change and a yearly inspection. The steering wheel has graduated cuts/ slices (with loose flaps) in the vinyl, covering an area of about 1-1/2", starting in the side plastic "handles" and moving upward. The cuts look like they could have occurred from a razor blade, knife, or perhaps the metal clip on a clipboard. This was reported to the General Manager, James Matthew, at the dealership who passed it on to the Service Manager, Melissa Best. Melissa denied Pearson being responsible for the damage based on "the person who inspected my car has been with them for a long time". She requested a picture, as well, which was sent to them and received a reply of "the cuts don't look fresh". I will add that they did not call me back. I had to chase after them for a reply. This Service Manager was curt and uncaring, basically insinuating that I was a liar. There is no way this decision could be made without having the car brought in for them to look at IN PERSON, NOT by a photograph which is unclear and reflective, or by even talking with the person who serviced the car (in my presence). It doesn't matter how long a person has been with a company. They are not perfect beings and accidents can happen. This 2013 Sonata has been kept in pristine condition with only about 39,000+ miles on it, with only around 2,000 added miles since last years inspection. In other words, it doesn't get a lot of wear and tear. I noticed (felt) the cuts the minute I drove it the following morning. I can guarantee that this damage was NOT on the steering wheel prior to taking the car in for service. I have always been pleased with Pearson Hyundai in the past, but this kind of treatment and the way that this was handled is completely inexcusable and has made me lose confidence in both their maintenance and customer service, especially when they so proudly advertise "We hope our car care experts satisfied your needs and exceeded your expectations". They exceeded my expectations all right... by damaging my car! Since this damage was first reported to the dealer, there has been no urgency from the dealership in getting this resolved as of today, July 6, 2023. If they truly cared about their customers, they would put forth more effort in getting this problem rectified without me having to constantly call and chase after them. read more

Got my oil change done here and I was shocked at the price difference from the oil change here to the pricing I got in NJ. The customer service was decent. I would give it a 6/10. I'm just used to the Hyundai dealership in NJ where when you pull up, a representative will sit down with you, look through the car records and recommend services your vehicle might need. Over Pearson Hyundai, I pulled up, dropped off my keys and was sent straight to the waiting room after I told them I wanted an oil change. The oil change price was almost double of NJ as well. I paid over $50 for just a oil change without any other services. The oil change in NJ normally costed me no less than $30 and I always got a free car wash afterwards. Sometimes, the dealer in NJ waived an oil change for military members. Wasn't too thrilled about Hyundai from this establishment. read more

Up early to drop off Kona for oil change. Supposed to be complimentary oil change up to 36,000 miles: brought vehicle in @ 26,634 as their sticker on windshield said to bring it in @ 26,000. Now they're telling me it should've been brought in @ 24,000 miles --- so I'm being charged $48 for oil change due to their error. BS!! (Last oil change there on 2-20-2021 @ 20,599 miles) Note: bought a 2020 Santa Fe Limited and a 2020 Kona Limited there ... gladly sell you a car, but customer service is sorely lacking. Had my car looked at for issues with stalling at this dealership. They had my car for two weeks, and said that they found absolutely nothing wrong with it. They charge me $160 as a service fee. I pick it up 3 days ago and and within the same day I realize that my alignment is completely messed up. My steering wheel is turned almost 50 degrees to the left in order to drive straight! It was perfect before!! I call back and leave a message and they never get back to me, so today I come in and they say that they 'thought i already knew about that problem'. Obviously i did not know about it because my alignment was fine before i dropped it off. Also, why did they tell me that my car was perfectly fine when apparently they noticed this new issue and decided not to tell me?? Anyways, they say I must have hit something and messed it up myself, and that it will be $1000 for them to fix. Also, apparently I have a month of driving my car like this before I cause extra damage to other parts. The best part is, these parts are not under my warranty.
