Took the family out for brunch to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. We hadn't been here in a while and not sure what took us so long to get back. Food was incredible!! Started out with the bag of donuts that were incredible. I had the Kimchi Fried Rice and it was a solid choice, so was the Temperance on draft that I had with it. We recently had a date night at Peckish Pig for their Flamenco Night. It was really enjoyable to watch. The food was ok. There are a couple different directions you could go with the menu. Peckish Pig is truly a gem! Outstanding brunch starting with fresh scones and classic clotted cream and jam. I tried their avocado toast and it was perfectly prepared. They also have tasty warm donuts. But my ultimate favorite is Kimchi hash with extra egg. All the food I ordered was made to perfection! Everything at this place was great! Friendly family vibe and impressive skills. Owners/chef always on site. Comfortable outdoor seating and great bar. I highly recommend this restaurant. My crew has been customers at Peckish from the beginning and have been to there for every type of meal from brunch, dinner, large birthday parties and private events. It was probably one of the best places for fish and chips in Chicagoland, but unfortunately it is no longer. The British owner and chief wife ran a tight ship, but seemed to have abandoned their posts. The cod used to be hand dipped, fried and was quite generous in size, even with the half serving size, but is now served with premade cuts the same size offered from food service suppliers. The chips were large, plump and generous in quantity to the point where you were hard pressed to eat it all, only for it to be another victim of shrinkflation. Like restaurant prices everywhere, they have jumped significantly and the value/quality proposition now feel way out of sync. The partner who brewed the house beers outback for them closed down his brewing operation a while ago, so it's another added value loss and a pint of disappointment. Hate to be a downer, but look elsewhere to spend your precious dining time and hard earned money. read more

I have eaten here multiple times and they never disappoint. The food is delicious, tastes fresh and great choices to pick from. If you go in the warmer months sit outside. It feels like you are on a mini vacation with the atmosphere. There is also a really nice breeze even when it's kind of hot out. If it's not sit outside weather. The decor inside has a great vibe. It's a nice cozy place and the menu is interesting. The biggest problem I had was that the entree was bland. There was no flavor or salt and the fried chicken on the sandwich was a little tough which was disappointing because it looked good. The fries were fine but there was no salt. The mayo tasted like kraft mayo and just wasn't great. My friend's grilled cheese was tiny and barely had any cheese and my other friend's fish tacos were kind of mushy. I like Peckish Pig though I haven't been there in a while. Parking can be pretty tricky along here, especially if you're not here about the time they open in the morning. Well, I guess that's just my experience--I've only been here for breakfast, so maybe it's different at other times. They've got an English pub sort of thing going on. Have been here a couple of times prior to COVID and came back for the ambience as well as the beers. Made a reservation and was seated quickly. Our server took some time to check up on us, but I'm assuming that they were busy on St. Patrick's Day. Food can be hit or miss with this place especially with the prices. The sandwiches is probably a safe bet. The chorizo, and the lamb burger were quite good. The big plates are on the pricier side and although the pork belly was good, the dish was mostly mashed potatoes. Bacon wrapped dates were surprisingly tasty. Overall, expect to spend a little more on food here. I definitely recommend this place for the drinks. Solid tap list and a lot to choose from; the nitro porter in particular was awesome! Super smooth with coffee notes really coming through. The cocktails were very decently priced, each priced around 10 bucks. Would definitely bring other friends or family back here. read more

This pub was an enjoyable find. We were looking for a nice patio garden for lunch. Like other places in the city, burbs parking is on the streets.. Easy for wheel chairs. To get around . The place was busy when we were there, but it's a large place with another room that was closed off. The staff were friendly. The service was good, but we waited a few minutes for our server to come to our table. But he did acknowledge us. The food is very good. Large portions. We saw some great food at other tables . But obviously, I couldn't take photos. The prices were very good for the amount of food you get. It's an hour from my home. ( we were at a craft fair)and so not close. But if you're going to drive into the city. Why not try the pubs and restaurants in other burbs. We we definitely will go back to try items from the dinner menu. read more

Came here on a friends suggestion and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the lamb burger and it was cooked nicely. It has a game-y flavor but it wasn't too overwhelming. It was tender and easy to chew. The order came with cumin fries, which were seasoned simply and perfectly. They were crispy on the end and nice and soft in the middle. My friend got the smoked plate. She loved the salmon, gherkins, and vegetables, but wasn't a fan of the trout spread. Service was great - attentive and friendly. They also have a good amount of beers to choose from. I tried a few of the sours and they were enjoyable. They have Stiegl Radler Grapefruit which is one of the few beers my friend can drink! read more

I really don't like writing bad reviews. So unfortunately to get me below a 3 star takes some... effort. The food taste great, happy hour deals were good but service was less than mediocre. Arriving early on a Friday night would seem like a perfect time to get premium service! But no. Had to flag down the bartender for another round. He clearly had a friend visiting at work and wasn't paying any attention to the customers. We got the attention from another staff member, miss communicated it was the people sitting down from us and had to return back to the other staff member only to finally have his attention. Then (being picky but hey, that's what reviews are for) I noticed we were charged for the missing garlic aioli sauce in the happy hour deal. I wouldn't have made a fuss but since service was so disappointing I noticed the second we asked for it he entered it in the system. It was forgiven by a complimentary shot but honestly didn't want or need it. I'll absolutely return since I didn't try their full menu but dine in at a table with hopefully an actual wait staff member. read more

Here's what you need to know: good service and ambiance (Al fresco dining) but the food is just so underwhelming, under seasoned and flavors are just not creative and have no impact) that I can't rate it more than 3 stars. I do recommend the max n cheese and hewn bread n butter though. Those were enjoyable. Cocktails were fine and the wine list left a lot to be desired (in terms of quality) I really wish they would amp up their flavors and address the textures so the food can be inviting and memorable. A great little spot where you can find an ecletic mix of bbq, traditional American fan, seafood, etc. with a modern twist. A bit on the pricier end so be prepared to spend. The interior is cozy with it's loft style design & rustic barn themed furniture. The staff was friendly & seated us quickly. Everything looked great from the Duck Confit Mac 'n Cheese to the appetizer trio to the lamb & smash burgers we ordered. The drinks hit that sweet spot between alcohol content, presentation & overall enjoyment. I would have loved to have a bit more seasoning on the steak cut cumin fries since I expected to smell the lovely scent as well as taste the cumin, but hardly got any of of it (maybe toss them in a bit oil, salt & cumin to really capture that flavor.) The food was good & oddly enough got better later on when it was cold. They definitely treat you right here since you can order pretty much any entree as well as appetizer off of the menu & it'll fill you up. The appetizer trio also comes with a variety of grilled breads from french to pita which is a nice touch. In a part of the city that is a bit lackluster in terms of general food & entertainment, Peckish Pig is a bright spot with tons of potential. Heard great things about brunch so made a reservation. I was skeptical because this place doesn't give off ~brunch~ vibes. Boy was I surprised. We all LOVED our meals. I got the avocado toast and was so impressed. All bread was fresh baked at Hewn locally, and we were all wishing for more! We sat outside in the private patio on a nice spring day. Would definitely recommend. The service was quite slow and they missed a few of our sides which was disappointing. We had to physically track down our waiter inside in order to bring it to his attention. Knocking a point because they need to develop their breakfast drink menu. You can't have a stellar brunch and NOT offer any iced coffees or lattes! Having caffeinated options outside of subpar hot coffee on a hot day would bring this place from 4 stars to 5. I've been to Peckish Pig twice now, last Friday and last night. The first time was really more to sample their beers, as I had no idea that they brewed their own. And I was greatly surprised by the quality and consistency. I tried their Oktoberfest (Rathskeller), Kölsch (Lawless), Bliss New England IPA, and the Early Riser Coffee Porter, and I can't really say there was a bad one in the group, though I think the Kölsch was my favorite. First visit, I just had an order of their fries with a lovely truffle mayo. Last night, I committed to the ribs, and boy, did they deliver! I got the half rack and still had leftovers. But the menu is diverse, and I'll definitely be back to try some of the other delectations (I'm looking at you, Lamb Burger and Caprese Flatbread). read more

We paid our first visit to the Peckish Pig on a recent Saturday evening. We liked the food and the patio. Service was so-so... VIBE: It was a lovely Spring evening and the patio was nearly full of happy diners. The sun was well-blocked by an adjacent building. All very nice. Tables were spaced well enough so that conversation was fairly easy. As we walked through the dining room to get to the patio, we noticed that even though the dining room was not at all full, the noise level was substantial. SERVICE: Servers were mostly cordial, but seemed a bit overloaded - we had to work to get our server's attention when we wanted more drinks (and they came sloooowly). One of the glasses of wine we ordered was incorrect. Our entrée and our salad came out simultaneously - no coursing at all. Our server was pleasant, but seemed new to the job. FOOD: The menu has many appealing choices - something for everyone. A Waldorf salad was decent, but HUGE. Pork tacos were delicious and generously filled. Nice compact wine list with good choices by bottle or glass. We'll return to the patio if we're in the neighborhood -- we liked the setting and the food. Our waitress told us that the owners were even trying unsuccessfully to enlist their employees to lobby against their own interests. Brewery located right on the Chicago/Evanston border on Howard. It might not be as well known as some of the other Evanston breweries, but I really enjoyed it. It has a great atmosphere and mixture of indoor and outdoor seating, plus great mix of craft beer and food options. To drink I got the India's Panic Attack (sick IPA pun :p), a Bandelero, and 4pack of Bliss to go. For food we just got fries and bacon wrapped dates, both were good, sadly didn't have time for a full dinner, but everything looked good. I'd definitely recommend getting reservations if you're going prime time during the weekend. Not too far from the Howard L stop, just a few blocks, though it is a bit far from the other Evanston breweries if you're trying to do several like we were. (Not super far, just not walking distance). I'd definitely return if up that ways again. read more
