Meh. This store managed to swing top votes for seafood, bakery, and pizza on the south fork in Dan's Paper. Was it deserved or was it rigged, who knows? I'm happy to come here when I need something specific and a bit bougie, like pancetta. They have some great produce and cheeses. I've purchased obscenely overpriced lox here ($65 a pound FFS) and Maine lobsters that were just fine. But I've had local lobster from other places that were far better. The flagels (flat bagels) were also just okay and the cupcake was disappointing. (It's difficult to make a disappointing cupcake! Do skinny people in the Hamptons even understand how to evaluate a bakery? This is an existential question.) I attempted to get pizza per the aforementioned accolades and when I looked at the dried up slices, I didn't bother. So, I don't know, is this place worth the hype? Not really. read more

It's always been overpriced and, of course, groceries in general have been way up (previously due to inflation, supply chain issues and now, in truth, flat-out greed) But at least it used to be good. $15 for a pint of by far the worst, most flavorless & xantham-gummy, preservativ-laden guacamole I have ever tasted is just obnoxious. When walking in the store you are bombarded by staff members because they are majorly over staffed. Every where you look there is a group of orange shirts standing around with nothing to do. I was asked if I was being helped by 4 people behind the same counter while I was waiting for my pizza. Then they have the nerve to charge $6 for a hot chocolate to pay for all the extra employees. It's also pretty embarrassing that the word "grandma" has been misspelled and never corrected since the last time I was here. A lot of waste going on here at the customers expense. The best baked goods! I always stop by when I'm in the area. Everything is so fresh and delicious from the baked goods to the hot buffet foods and pizza. It's a bit crowded inside from the layout to the amount of people shopping, so it may seem a bit difficult to maneuver through if you're using a wheelchair or mobility scooter. There is plenty of parking and tons of staff to help. read more

The three locations I have shopped at in New York City (Avenue of the Americas, Broadway and 3rd Ave) have all been excellent in terms of products and services. Having lived on the South Eastern end of Long Island IE; South Hampton area for a while, I had stopped in many times whether for a specific item(s) or to enjoy killing 20 minutes with a browsing session.. Always enjoying the stores unique vibrant and exciting feel. It must be Citarella's selection of items and the stores decor and design to sell items always bring out that little kid in the candy store feel in me. The cheese section is better than any other market in the area, fish, produce, prepared foods, the list is endless of quality and quantity. As to the cheese section, I realize you can not stock everything but no Taleggio? Oils, vinegar's, marmalade's all to to dress up your salads and assorted greens, as well as decorative and flavorful finishes to soups. The bakery section and treats is delectable in appearance and taste. Chocolate Tea Cake, Russian Tea Cookies, Rainbow Cookies, Apple Strudel and so much more. So, I did my shopping and took two or three photos, when a very rude employee of management disposition expressed to me in a tone I could not help but take exception to, that there was no pictures allowed in the store. Just to bust her chops for being so snippy with me, I asked her to take me to the place where that information was posted. She did, with a childish arms crossed posture, so I dismissed her with a "Are you going to stand staring at me all day?" I am completely understanding and respectful of policy, but there is a way to deliver the message which was as obnoxious as any time I have ever been addressed in memory. With what Citarella has to offer from a product stand point and more specifically from a brand recognition lense, why have a little twit like this dealing with the public. As I am not a tourist either may I remind you, but a regular I guess it burned a little hotter for me. Without the Citarella's employees attempt at a reprimand of me, I would consider grading higher, but I will now take my business to King Kullen. It may be a culinary loss for me, but I can bring my needs from the city or shop elsewhere. Allowing an employee that much freedom that the level of treatment regarding her approach to me is grounds for immediate dismissal of my long standing relationship with this location. read more

This certainly isn't your neighborhood stop & shop! Citarella's is a very lovely quaint grocery store with a hefty selection of all the good stuff in my opinion. Their fish department is blooming with so many choices! They have a deli, salad bar, soup station, mini pizza parlor, fresh made sushi and a hot food bar. I mean come on! There's something for everyone here. I came here today for lunch and stopped at the hot bar and picked up a mix of mac n cheese, ziti and rice and it was all very good! The prices are a little excessive but what do you expect in the Hamptons? The store is clean and the employees were all friendly and there was no wait at the check out. read more

Way overpriced and a bit ridiculous. Example: asked for prosciutto. Before slicing, I asked the woman at the deli counter to slice off some of the excess fat. She seemed a bit confused. And then responded that she could, but would still have to weigh and charge me for the fat. Wow. Another example: selected a whole watermelon. When I went to check out, the cashier weighed it. This place is pure sht... go to the king kullen. Everything is much fresher at king kullen and they have a much wider variety of foods and specialty items. I went after Labor Day and the shrimp smelled like 3day old dead fish, 1 of the 2 packs of chicken was abominable, mozzarella really weak, and one of the eggs was filled with blood (something I've never seen before). Prices are also 1.5-2x the price of king kullen. Customer service after this incident was not responsive. Only reason I write this is because I had another bad experience at a citeralla in NYC as well. read more

I needed a quick stop on my way out to Montauk and Citarella's was the perfect spot. Grabbed a perfectly made cappuccino and explored their ample lunch options. They have fresh made breakfast and lunch in addition to their grab and go food items and grocery items. My friend described it as a "even better than Whole Foods". The dessert selection looked mouth watering and even had a gluten free flourless chocolate cake in individual portions or full sized cake. Definitely a great place to pick up breakfast or lunch while heading out east. read more

They appear homemade and then everything has the same weird after taste. Please clean the nasty hand baskets. Please clean the floors after business hours. Nothing ever looks particularly clean, but the smell of cleaning products is always overwhelming. The checkout people are very nice. I think I may have to break up with you. I had heard of Citarella as some sort of Shangri-La of gourmet grocery stores that existed somewhere out in the Hamptons and when I actually saw one, I had to stop and see if they were worth the hype. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually stopped at two Citerellas on the same day (the other one was in East Hampton and it was much smaller). This location was very large for a store in the Hamptons and I found the selection to be excellent. Beyond the usual fresh baked goods and bread (I got a loaf of Pumpernickel), they have a huge selection of cheese, fresh veggies, and a fresh fish counter that rivals anything else I've seen on the island. I also noticed that they carry their own label of several staples like pasta sauce in a surprisingly large selection of flavors. I was also pleased to find more than just the usual selection of diet soda which is how I secretly judge a stores selection. This little gem of a store has everything you need. Today I will be reviewing the lemonade, a peanut butter cookie, and a Smoked Turkey Panini. Now the peanut butter cookie was a little too fluffy, without the proper chewiness, but you can bet it was packed with peanut buttery flavor. The lemonade was tangy and perfect. The panini was overcooked -- it had burned-in skidmarks that tasted awful! But when I complained, my server Christianne really helped! Truly this is a place where "The Customer Is Always Right"! What is not to love about Citarellas?!?!?! It is like food heaven. They have a huge meat counters, with plenty of fresh prepared bugers, sausages, steaks, chicken and much more. My favorite is their prepared salad case. The asian grilled chicken salad is my new favorite and a must try. But they have to have at least 30 different varieties everyday. Bakery, fried chicken and pizza area, make your own salad bar, wide variety of cheeses and so much more. It's everything you could want in a gourmet market and then some! I can honestly say I haven't had one bad thing here and always enjoy going and trying something new. Caution...Friday and the weekend gets very crowded with all the weekenders so I suggest going when they open. Also, parking lot is a nightmare so don't park in any of the spots close to the entrance or you may get hit. read more

So I haven't walked into the store or dealt with the staff but have tried their meat and fish. I must say both are excellent. We had the sirloin and white fish. Although they are expensive it was a beautiful cut of meat, something you would find at butcher. Excellent marbling and a lovely deep red color to the meat. Fish was sliced thin and came out great. It was pillowy layers - no, scratch that: this cake was waves of merengue sticking straight up. Layers of vanilla sponge cake that had clearly been just soaking overnight in some Arabian vanilla hand plucked bean thing - you know how they do. There was like 18K gold in there too. Amazing. Love this place since it moved to Bridgehampton into a larger space. More room for all the delicacies you can find at this great store. Make sure that you bring lot's a cash, or your black Am Ex card to pay. Prices are though the roof, but very good quality fish, meats, cheese, and produce, plus tons of imported items. Staff is friendly and usually very helpful with finding all the goodies. Always has the best selection in the Bridgehampton area. As a full time Hampton's resident, I never can resist stopping by to pick out some fine stuff to cook for dinner. My wife loves it when I come home from work with a Citarella shopping bag in my hand. I am giving it two stars for the simple reason that the employees don't know much about the merchandise. They could be better trained and it would be nicer if they could hire people who speak better English that way they understand me and I understand them. Also I don't appreciate having my girlfriend feel uncomfortable when she sits there and eats while they keep turning and giving unfriendly looks as if she needs to get up leave the eating area. I recently went in there to purchase a slice of pizza. There was a pizza man by the name of Jack, who kept mumbling to himself that he was very very good. Knowing that most pizza guys are eccentric i let it go, but when I got my slice it had a strange smell and taste and when I approach him on it he told me I didn't know anything about pizza and I should just shut up. The place might not look much from the outside, but once inside, it's actually a lot bigger. They have just about everything here. As far as food goes, it's a one-stop-shop, with fresh produce, prepared food, bakery and more. I got some fried chicken, greens, rice and beans for lunch.
