The store owner, Chris, was so knowledgeable and welcoming when I called him. He gave me clear directions on how to find his store and that they could easily replace the batteries on 2 watches that we needed fixed. His prices were significantly cheaper than anyone else that quoted me, and the batteries on 2 watches were replaced in 20 minutes (at most). In addition, Chris was so generous and spent extra care to make sure that we were satisfied with the service (even taking an extra few minutes to deep clean our watches, free of charge!). Thanks to Yelp, I visited their store a few weeks ago. It is actually a really pretty store inside- quite different than how it looks from the exterior. An employee named Riley greeted me and we sat down to talk about my jewelry needs. I noticed another female employee holding a sleepy baby boy, so of course, I had to talk to him! The mother explained that this company has been in business for over 40 years. FORTY! She is actually the granddaughter in law to the owners. I love how it is a family run business that obviously provides great service to be in business for so long. They explained the process to resize the ring and were transparent about pricing since they would have to separate my rings that were soldered together to be resized. I was able to pick up my ring today and it fits perfectly! They cleaned it up nicely and also checked the diamond prongs. I love being able to wear my ring again! Thank you, Gold N Carats! For reference, the battery replacement was $92.01 (June 2024) and the cleaning was $64.95 (November 2025).

Within seconds of attempting the repair, they broke it. What I don't understand is why they didn't take their own experience and profession into account and simply decline the repair if it was that likely to fail. As a mechanic myself, I know what I will and won't break. And if I advise a customer to do something and it breaks because of my actions, I take responsibility for it. They did polish the ring and it looks nice, but that's about the only positive I can point to. Instead, they wanted to charge me $70 to fix the damage they caused, then recommended adding a shank for over $200, with the ring not ready until the next day. That's not accountability, that's passing the cost onto the customer. Overall, poor judgment, poor handling of the situation, and a really frustrating experience. I won't be coming back.
