My partner and I visited twice during our 3-day trip to Kennebunkport and we even tried for a third visit on our way home! Sadly, it wasn't open for lunch that day, but that just means we'll be back next time we're in town. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was fun yet relaxed. The restaurant is filled with religious statues and mementos that give it a unique, eclectic atmosphere - cool, fun, and totally unforgettable. We sat at the bar both nights and ended up closing it down, chatting with every bartender like we were longtime friends. Each one was warm, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. Meeting the owner, Norm, was a highlight. He's the kind of person who makes you feel like you're part of the Pedro's family. His passion for the place is obvious, and it shows in every detail, from the decor to the drinks to the incredible food. If you're visiting Kennebunkport, Pedro's is an absolute must. Sadly I can not recommend this very cute restaurant. Lovely decor and a very nice owner, but the food and service are just simply not what I had expected. Overpriced and some foods very blah just too bland while others over salted. Guac needed salt and the bean burrito had so much it literally made me sick! Happy to attach itemized bill as this is crazy!! 18$ for a bean and cheese burrito that literally had 2 bites taken before getting sick on stomach. I did not complain about food as I had already had issue with the AC blowing on us, so I just didn't want to be "that lady". Margaritas were purchased at bar and were acceptable, just pricey!! Server acted as if we were causing an inconvenience to him having to serve us. And we were very nice to him! Again I am sad to have to leave this review but I feel others should be aware. read more

We enjoyed our meal here. The menu had a lot of options and my margarita was delicious. That being said everything was good but not memorable. We shared the elote appetizer and they offered to cut it off the cob-a nice touch. But the amount of raw onion with it was a bit overwhelming. The grilled chicken didn't have a lot of seasoning and while everything tasted fine it was no better or worse than other Mexican chain restaurants. We've come here for years. Something has definitely changed. Drinks were great but food has hit a low. Cold shrimp taco with VERY little over cooked shrimp smothered in a tasteless green salsa. Chicken fajitas used to be nice strips of grilled chicken with grilled peppers and onions. Chunks of chicken were served smothered in cheese with a side of mushy onions and peppers. Pedro's is always a solid choice for dinner in the port. Typically always pretty busy, but they have nice outdoor seating area to have a drink and wait. Service can be iffy at times -- we waited over 15 minutes at our table before being seen by any waiter. Once he arrived, he was great tho! Strawberry hibiscus marg was tart and refreshing, classic marg is reliable and cheap. Strong too! We started with the chips and guac, which was really really good chunky guacamole. For food, I got the fish tacos. Fish wasn't too flavorful but I added some of the leftover guac on top which made it fantastic. My mom got the carnitas tacos, which I thought were a lot better and tastier. Overall, we always leave Pedro's well-fed, perfectly tipsy, and happy! read more

If you're going during peak summer time make sure you go early, otherwise you'll wait for at least an hour and a half. Once we were finally sat we waited almost 10 minutes for a server to come and greet us. We understand it's hard when really busy but we weren't even acknowledged by a server until then. The skinny margarita was good and pretty strong once we finally got it. The 3 cheese queso was thick but ok flavor; basically just partially melted cheese. Salsa was good and fresh. The guacamole was ok, not much flavor and mostly giant chunks of whole avocado. Steak Tacos - steak good grilled seasoned flavor. Soft taco shell toasted and very crunchy. Not much flavor on its own. There is cheese melted on tortilla as base of taco which was cool. You have to pay $4 more for sides and they were definitely not worth it. The beans were spicy but had no flavor otherwise. The rice was crunchy and lots of sauce on them but again not much flavor. The restaurant had a cool atmosphere and was fun but overall not too impressed. read more

Walked by this place and loved the vibe! After strolling through the shops we were craving nachos and cocktails so we decided to duck in. Service was excellent, the nachos hit the spot and the cocktails were unique and delicious! We ordered the Fajitas, first of all not sizzling and was all put on one cast iron skillet which wasn't sizzling. It had beans , rice and some slop they called peppers and onions. We added chicken which was steamed or even microwaved and had never seen a grill pan. The reason I gave it 1 stars was the chips and salsa was very good. Don't even get me started on the service. The food here was probably the most disappointing food I've ever eaten. I ordered the enchiladas Rojas which in no way under the sun share similarities with enchiladas other than the corn tortilla and chicken inside. They were covered in a sort of marinara (supposedly salsa fresco) and then topped with enough white cheddar cheese to feed a family. The beans definitely came from a can. Such a fun spot!! We've been enjoying Pedro's for a few years now, and realized I never reviewed them.. so here we are! :) The atmosphere is very lively and the decor is fun and beachy. The outdoor patio is one of my favorites in the Kennebunk's and their happy hour is great ($7 classic margs, $3 tecates and $5 tacos that are huge!) Service can be a tiny bit hit or miss which is my reason for 4 stars. Though it is always friendly it can be a bit slow at times. We're usually just there for a good hang so it's never been too rough for us! The classic margs are absolutely delicious and I love their steak tacos and carnitas tacos. They had a white queso dip on special that i much prefer to their queso fundido on the menu.. so I'm hoping they keep that delicious white creamy queso on the regular rotation! Their nachos are also super generous and tasty. Oh and their chips are amazing!! On the heftier side and pretty salty (which i love) - it would be even more amazing if you could get a complimentary basket, but they're so tasty I'm willing to pay ;-) I'll be back!! read more

This popular restaurant and bar was not our first, second or even third choice for dinner on a Monday night, our only night in Kennebunk this year, but it was open, within easy walking distance from our hotel and offered immediate seating. My wife chose enchiladas verde while I mistakenly cast my appetite in the direction of chicken fajitas. Though the food was deemed less than authentic, mediocre and overpriced, it did serve to fill our bellies. A return visit is not likely to happen. read more

One of the better Mexican restaurants that I've been to pretty much anywhere. This was only my 1st time but the food, drink, atmosphere & service were all very good. My wife and I both got house Hornitos Margs which were two thumbs up. The chips were homemade and the salsa was tasty/spicy but not over the top with heat. For entrees, I chose the Mexican Street tacos and she chose the Gringo tacos both with rice & refried beans, best tacos I can remember eating in awhile. Service was prompt & friendly. I love the atmosphere... comfortable, creative & different. For our first time at Pedros we'll be coming back for another visit. Definitely recommend this place if you're in the mood for a refreshing Marg and really good Mexican food. Also drinks and food are reasonably priced, won't break the bank for a good time. Pleasantly surprised. Was vacationing in the area and just happened to notice this spot. Not exactly authentic Mexican cuisine but the menu is about what you'd expect from any Tex-Mex style casual dining establishment. A few items that were enjoyable were: Steak burrito - hefty and flavorful. Nachos with jalapeno peppers - the chips were excellent and the cheese was plentiful and deliciously gooey. Chicken quesadilla - mild yet flavorful chicken with more gooey cheesey goodness. If you're walking around in the Kenbebunk area and you feel like grabbing a casual meal with great service, stop on in. Reasonably priced and it hit the spot. read more

First visit to Pedro's tonight with a couple childhood buddies. We landed here because it was centrally located, recommended by a friend and, well...one of the only places open on a Tuesday in January. We walked in to a vibrant taco Tuesday scene, with 75% of tables full at about 6pm. Great energy and decor. Ordered chips, salsa and guac and the (homemade) chorizo fundido dip for starters. Homemade chips were great, as were the dips. While chatting between course, the man, who we learned was the owner, stopped by and pleasantly greeted us. We were very impressed by his hospitality, especially considering he was making rounds on a weeknight in the offseason after owning the restaurant for 4 years - not something you typically experience. I had the taco special for dinner, one chicken and one ground beef, both if which had great flavor. White corn flour tortillas, slightly cooked on a flattop griddle to give them enough rigidity to not collapse with the heaps of innards. Not dry and well seasoned with a topping of guac on each, I was impressed. Overall great atmosphere, terrific service and great food. My Fiancé and I frequent Pedro's for date night. Thursday nights are great for live music and a nice local vibe. The food NEVER disappoints and the hibiscus margarita is a must try! Food is consistently bad, service is subpar, there's a guy who stands around with his arms crossed who maybe is in charge? or thinks he is, doesn't do anything other than that from when my wife and I visited. Honestly I was looking for a place to just have a few drinks and I asked a few ladies where to go and they said Pedro's and to ask for Matt. Dined with a party of 4 tonight. Staff was courteous and professional. The inclusion of a vegan option(Tacos) was appreciated. Prices seemed higher and portion seemed less than what I'm accustomed to at similar establishments, but all in all it was a positive experience. The only notable drawback was the music. A mishmash of truly horrific covers of pop songs to a disco beat droned on, loudly, which seemed to make folks talk louder than normal to be heard, which in turn makes for a very loud crowd. IMHO, some Spanish music would add to the ambience of the experience, but honestly anything would have been better. read more

Every time I go, the owner checks in to make sure we have had a good experience and gives suggestions and really seems to care what the customer thinks.
