The Rochester Recreation Senior Activity Center Walking Club was at Mousam Way Trail in Springvale. The Sanford High School Seniors were enjoying field day and then a catered lunch by Las Olas Taqueria. After the Rochester Walking Club finished their walk, Las Olas Taqueria and the H.S. Seniors offered to let us join them for lunch. What an unexpected and delightful gesture! Food was delicious and we loved talking to the H.S. Seniors about their future plans. What an amazing day! Decent Mexican restaurant in wells. You order at the front chipotle style. The food was just okay though. They didn't have chicken while I was there so I got steak. It tasted more like ground beef. The service was friendly but slow for not being that busy. I think they are pretty good but have some stuff to figure out! read more

They have bowls, salads, burritos, quesadillas, etc and you get to pick your protein and toppings. Really vegetarian friendly which I appreciate - multiple vegetarian 'main' options (soyrizo, fajita veggies, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes), and the beans are all vegetarian (not cooked in meat broth or anything). Topping options are pretty standard (lettuce, cilantro, pico, corn, sour cream) but they have a ton of salsa options which is cool. Good fast food style taco or burrito bar. (Better than that popular national chain). Tortillas are steamed before burritos are made right in front of you. There is a choice of corn or flour tortillas for tacos. They have a great variety of sauces as well as a great pico de gallo. My personal favorite is the verde but they make a kicker aioli and even better brava if you can take it or the carrot habanero if you dare! read more

Kids were really nice that were working there, but there was a lot of cross contamination going on when they were making our food. A used rag was used to wipe splotches of sour cream off of the food prep area and then they slid the next bare burrito right onto that surface. Cheese was mixed in with my rice when I had asked for no cheese. When we went to get a table, every single table was pretty dirty and sticky, with food debris all over the tables, chairs, and floors. All of the trash cans were overflowing. We had no place to throw away our food. As we were sitting, we could see into the kitchen area. They were moving around a large container of used dishes and just kicking it around the floor. Kitchen looked not the cleanest. We ended up not finishing our food and leaving when we realized how dirty the place was. read more

Las Olas provided a vital service to the Wells/Kennebunk area. There are no comparable restaurants around and I've found Las Olas to be a very reliable "fast food" location that I can go to for excellent takeout. It's not the most beautiful presentation, but honestly it's the taste that matters the most, which Las Olas excels at. I love their spice/flavor profile of their food (noticeable difference and IMO better than similar comparisons like Chipotle or Annas Taqueria). Again, it's a 4.5 star in the context of Wells Maine, but incredibly reliable and my go-to place for quick Chipotle-style Mexican food in the area. *Tastes much better than it looks, and it already looks pretty decent* read more

You ever been punched in the mouth by Mike Tyson? Me neither, but I imagine this flavor smacking me in the mouth hit just as hard. Now, like all good American's, I love me a burrito. I'm not talking about wimpy, healthy burritos (unless my wife is with me, then I say 'mmmm I love how place X puts spinach in their burrito' while secretly rolling my eyes). I want my burrito to have some heft. One hand should not be enough for my burrito. If one of my children can finish it, the burrito was not right. Burritos should be daunting. Well, welcome to Las Olas, and they know their way around a burrito. I first tried the location in Exeter, but now I tend to go to the one in Wells as my route takes me by there more often. Both seem to be equally as good, though I favor the one in Wells. I can't tell you why I do, no reason really. So, you walk in, get punched in the face by some delicious smells, and make your way to the counter. Now, ordering has a very Chipotle like feel, you tell them what you want, Bowl, Burrito, Salad, Quesadilla, Nachos, Tacos, the list keeps going forever it seems, and then you pick your fillings. I go with a burrito, with rice, cheese, refried beans and the chicken (legit this chicken may be laced with crack). Then I add some pico, extra Brava (the spicy sauce), some lettuce, pickled onions, sour cream, and guac (they also say 'that's extra, is that ok?' just like Chipotle), and watch them wrap my behemoth in such a beautiful fashion. I am guessing you must smoke weed to work here, as they wrap these things tight, and what better practice? Now the ordering is where the Chipotle-esque similarities end. The food absolute destroys any chain Mexican restaurant, and indeed any burrito options I have found locally. It is quick, not super expensive, and just amazingly yummy. And the people are always so nice, helpful, and thankful that you're there! Add in the fact that the place always looks immaculately clean, the bathrooms are nice, they have a large dining area, and that they have a good selection of drinks, and really what more do you need? Great parking? They have that too! What more can I say besides the fact that this place is as close to perfect as I have ever found. I'd take this over a perfectly cooked steak at one of those expensive restaurants, 100 times out of 100. My only extra suggestion is, if you see the chipotle shrimp as the special, you throw all in on that the same as if betting on Tom Brady making the playoffs. Unfortunately the workers were rude and seemed to miserable throw my burrito bowl together, giving me a completely different serving than the person behind me. There was an older woman in line in front of me that had clearly never eaten here before and was having trouble ordering. Okay here's the deal... price is reasonable. Food is good, but unpredictable staff. I would say the staff is a mix of chill people, woke generation, with a Karen mixed in here and there... basically a company shift nazi, but on occasion 50% of time you have a shift supervisor that is cool. Some staff (particularly the blond shift supervisor from tonight) act like the customer should be thankful that they prepared the order. I gave her my name as Phil... and she said "we have a Philip (not a Phil)" like I should be more accurate with her (we use full names here as they appear on CC slips). Of course when my order was ready, she made sure to say "Philip" versus the name / pronunciation I gave her. Either way, I have some special requests due to allergies and it was clear that these requests made their life more difficult and held up their normal burrito production skills, as apposed to serving people with grace and thankfulness. Whatever, I get it. They have the only fast casual mexican place, can do what they want, and tell me to go pound the sand on Wells beach if they want. That's actually kind of cool... they got the wraps on burrito demand. Sometimes you get good portions, other times you get the (it's only 3oz of chicken! Person). Food was bland tonight, pretty sure they missed the salsa and lime. Don't order online.... Otherwise expect inconsistency. Wasn't even busy tonight. Regardless, the establishment is a needed pillar of the community and representation of the times we live in. With that being said... they could actually make a big impact on the community by creating a vision and mission surrounding customer/guest service. Pay your people a little more and reward them for caring... or just keep raking in the cash and turning over staff... it works so why change. I left with no thank you and it was clear the shift supervisor was stressed... no problem... if you had just said, "sir, sorry been a stressful night." I would have replied with, "no problem guys, take your time... Im Phil... here's twenty bucks." We were skeptical because of the reviews saying the food would be bland but me and my family could not agree less. Very tasteful food with a lot of choices. The only thing I will say is they were a little rushed even though there wasn't that many people in line. This led to me feeling a little rushed while ordering, they didn't really listen when I asked for a small amount of an ingredient because they had already started putting a big scoop on, as well as them touching the meat and vegetarian ingredients with the same gloves which felt a little weird to me. Serving eight years of deliciousness, the Wells location I visited was the last to be opened in 2014. The vibe of Las Olas is laid-back. All of the ocean themed colors made me feel like I was on a tropical island. Since their name actually translates to 'the waves' in Spanish, you'll notice that there are alot of waves everywhere. From the colorful painted mural of waves to photographs of real waves, the branding will make you feel like you are on vacation. The ordering experience will make you feel like you are at a seaside restaurant in Mexico so don't expect tableside service. The fast walk-up ordering left me and my guests feeling a little rushed, but it was made up for when our food came quickly. The staff taking our order were very patient and happy to help us decide what to order. After you get your order, grab your utensils and pick a table to sit at. The menu at Las Olas has something that everyone will like. My personal favorite is their taco, but you can also choose to have a burrito, a quesadilla, a bowl or a salad. There are many different meat choices including vegetarian options and you can even customize your own toppings. There are so many drink options and I regret not choosing the Mexican coke! One thing I always look for in a restaurant is how clean it is. Staff help to keep Las Olas clean by wiping down tables and emptying trash bags and sweeping the floor. When one of my guests went up to get some ice and found the machine empty, a staff member quickly helped her by filling it. I also always make sure to check out the bathroom and I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely decorated and clean the bathroom was at Las Olas (although the mirror was too high for kids)! Overall, on a scale of 1-10, I would rate my experience at Las Olas an 8. I will definitely eat there again. Found this place online, called in my takeout order and the guy taking my order was awesome, he was friendly asked all the right questions and spoke slow enough to hear him. I hate writing reviews, but this place deserves a good one! We just bought a place in Wells, and nothing gets me through a day of painting and cleaning like knowing I have a Las Olas burrito bowl waiting at the end of it. I've never had a bad meal here, but the steak burrito bowl is incredible: rice, black beans, cheese, steak, fresh pico de gallo and salsa verde...That's what I order, but you can mix it up any way you like. My husband loves the burritos, and my son loves the cheesy quesadillas. The specials are great, too! The staff is friendly and patient. I also love the way they pair your meal with local and international high end soft drinks like blood orange soda. Even when they once they forgot to steam my flour tortilla they immediately remade everything from scratch and the manager gave professional corrective training on the spot to teach the staff member how to avoid cross contamination as I had already opened the foil. Thing was huge I didn't eat anything else for the rest of the day. My only complaint was the alcoholic drinks my wife's margarita and my mojito didn't taste anything like they were supposed to but it was probably because there wasn't a bartender there.
