We decided on taco's 7/1/2022 around 12 PM and went to Pedro's. We were seated promptly on the outdoor patio with Matt as our server. He quickly took our drink order and suggested quac and chips for a starter. The chips are made in house fresh and the salsa fresca while tasty is quite bland. It could use a bit of spice (jalapeno) and a squeeze of lime juice. Since we had quite a hearty breakfast, we decided to just share a large plate of taco's (carne) with the rice and beans. The taco's were generously filled with steak and very tender and tasty. Indoors is very cute/quaint and the restrooms were very clean. We definitely will be back. read more

The host was not very warm, when she put our silverware and cups down she said nothing to us, she looked pissed and like we were an inconvenience. She also got annoyed when we didn't know where the host stand is (it wasn't really in an obvious place). Waitress was friendly, so that was nice. That was really the only service positive. The food. The food however was just bad. The nachos I will give a 6/10, too much cheese, really oily. I got the taco salad-low quality lettuce, dry chicken, rice lacking any flavor. While i was waiting just standing there one of the patrons came to give me some money because they thought i worked there. I had to tell them i dint work there. Handling COVID very well. There is tons of indoor and outdoor seating spaces well. Staff has masks and gloves and is very respectful The spicy marg and white sangria were delicious. Highly recommend both. We ordered a large nacho to start and the waiter was right - it's HUGE. We couldn't eat anything else. But they were delicious and we liked them a lot. Def don't get the large - they are a bit stacked high so some chips were plain. But we got salsa to dip and it was delicious too. Can't wait to go back to get the tacos. Called on a Monday to see if we needed a reservation for a party of 8- were told to come on in, no reservation needed. When we arrived we were told the wait would be 20 minutes. No problem. 40 minutes later when I checked with the hostess she said their kitchen was backed up and it would be another 20-30 minutes. While I was discussing this with our party they then called us and told us they would not be able to accommodate us at all- after we had waited for close to an hour. I'm giving 2 stars because they make a great margarita, otherwise it would be 1. Very poor service to customers. read more

We were able to get in without any reservation on a Saturday night. The menu offered good vegetarian and vegan choices. The staff were very friendly, the food arrived promptly and was delicious. Had a nice double date here with my boyfriend's sister and her husband. We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated which isn't too bad for a Saturday night. I found the decor and the outside of the restaurant really charming with the lights (see pics). I would like to come back during the summer and experience dining outside. The inside was quite loud and we struggled to hear each other but it goes with the territory. We were close to the bar and seated right under the speaker so loudness was expected. The drinks were definitely the highlight for me. I started with the strawberry cara cara margarita which was so flavorful and tasty. You could taste the tequila which is important to me with a margarita. My second (and last) drink was the "pink smoke" which was so STRONG but still great. It was like drinking three drinks at once and definitely made me hit my limit. It was grapefruit, tequila, mezcal, and black salt rim. The black salt was smoky tasting and seeped into my drink making it really interesting to drink (not in a bad way, honest). The food was not my favorite Mexican food but was OK and honestly, the drinks were the main reason we went out anyway. The food was just there to absorb the alcohol You have to pay for chips and salsa or guac. I don't mind paying for guac but I love some free chips and salsa! So that was kind of a bummer. Our server was also very eager to get us out the door and it was obvious by repeated visits to our table to ask how we were doing- over five times in 15 minutes. It was a bit much! read more

The lone spot for Mexican food in Kennebunk and it was rather underwhelming. They have a nice outdoor patio and plenty of indoor seats so that wait wasn't long. The guacamole was smooth and delicious and my husband adored the shrimp tacos. Sadly, this is where things go South food-wise. I wasn't a fan of the rice, as it had a weird flavor. Also, the beans were rather hard. The beef also had a funky taste. It was sort of spicy, but the flavor was also a bit sweet. It just didn't work for my tastebuds. The margaritas were just okay, we can make better at home. Service was quick and our waiter was friendly. Food was good. Prices have gone up. One server moved a high chair by me 2x. First time she stood holding it over her head leaning into me for what felt like a long while but was probably less than 3 min. During that time I could move my arm to eat because the server had it pinned and the chair was over my shoulder. It slipped banging me in the shoulder. She said sorry without looking at me and went to get another high chair. Did it again. Only nudged me but didn't drop the chair. She laughed when my husband asked her to stop while I ate. I'm vegetarian and have a very hard time finding good vegetarian Mexican food - Pedro's does NOT disappoint. My favorite restaurant in Kennebunkport - I've even driven over for a day trip just for Pedro's. People need to be patient - all of hospitality is having problems with staffing. What a RELIEF it was to find a "bar" in Kennebunk that was open! We had some fabulous drinks, including the Painkiller, which tastes something like summer and also something like Christmas. 6 tacos was way too much for our two people- we left one and a half behind. I would love to give this place 5 stars. Virtually everything was excellent. Their chips, which were definintely homemade, were awesome. We had a few tacos, some nachos, and one other meal. All of the food in general was fanastic. Service was exceptional, as were the margarita's! Why I can't give it 5 stars is because they don't use fresh jalepeno's on anything: they are clearly from a jar. This really impacts the taste and mouthfeel. I was incredibly disappointed because of this. For such a good restaurant, and a "true" Mexican place, to not use fresh jalepeno's is like a craft brewery serving Miller Lite. As a lover of jalepeno's, it really threw a wet blanket over whole meal. read more

This place was great. We went here over Labor Day weekend, and figured it wouldn't be busy cause everyone would be at seafood restaurants. We were wrong - the place was packed. Instead of waiting the 30-40 minutes, we were lucky to find spots at the bar where we had a great view of the tv with the Women's US Open Final on. The service was a bit slow, but I think it was due to the crowds over a holiday weekend. All staff that we dealt with was so friendly. We both started off with house margaritas - which were delicious, and chips, guac and salsa. It honestly was some of my favorite chips, guac and salsa that I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. For food, we ordered the corn de crema (I think that's what it's called), and burrito bowl and a taco plate. All of the food was delicious, and came in great portions for a reasonable price. The whole menu was pretty reasonably priced. Really liked this place, and who doesn't love tacos. So you can't go wrong. read more

I strongly suspect Pedro is a guy from Maine who visited Texas one time and decided to come back and open a Mexican restaurant. For us, Pedro's was just okay. We waited an hour for a table (perfectly okay) and then waited 20/25 minutes in clear sight at the first table on the patio without a server. Multiple employees walked right by us and none said a word. I finally went to the hostess stand to complain. We did receive a server and he was a really nice guy, but what a terrible start to the meal. The queso fundido was the best part of the meal. Greasy, but very tasty. Probably would have been okay with that and drinks. The rest of the food was only okay. One comment I have to make is that whatever those fajitas are, they are not fajitas. We received big thick slices of steak on top of some lightly sautéed peppers. No seasoning on the meat. No carmelized peppers and onions. There's no way those slices of steak were meant for a tortillas. They were large enough they needed to be cut with a fork and knife. The meat itself was tasty, but it was not fajita steak. The burritos were large and pretty tasty but were served with nothing else. Just a grilled burrito on a big plate. Odd. I don't know, I mean we left full which was good, but I can't say we'd come again. read more

Very pleased! Stopped here with family visiting from NY and we wanted snacks. We got the queso dip to start - it was great! Not your typical queso, chorizo sausage with cheese and chili on top. Well done and the balance of hot and sweet was perfect. Tortilla chips were not great but good with the queso! I got the sopa (mussels, fish, shrimp) in a spicy broth and it was so delicious. I am in love with the broth and would order this many times again. Burritos and tacos were ok, pretty basic ... service was excellent and our server was friendly and efficient. We rolled through Kennebunkport during the prime lunch hour on the first warm weekend of March, so all the patios were jumping. We've had luck with Pedro's patio in the past, and so we gave it a shot. All that was available was a low-to-the-ground table with some adirondak chairs. The hostess was super sweet in leaving it up to us and we were thankful for any port in a storm as we were hungry and didn't want to keep wandering the streets of KBPT. I've always loved the patio vibes here and mid-March was no exception. It was in the 50s, but still March in Maine so they had some heaters going and the firepit, which added to the atmosphere. As mentioned, it was busy but our waitress was great and we never had to wait with empty glasses. With the small table and laid back chairs (had to sort of sit on the edge), we were not going to attempt to eat a burrito and have half on our laps or the ground, but it worked out great for some of their awesome margaritas and snacks. Guac was pretty good, no jalapeno or cilantro that I tasted, but still tasty and I love that they fry their own chips. Also, their salso roja is phenomenal. Nice to have an option that doesn't just taste like jarred salsa. Flautas were also pretty great... just some good ol Texmex. This is a really nice restaurant. It's not super fancy, and it fits into the Mexican restaurant profile. But the food is really good. I had the nachos and a good IPAA from Maine, and I enjoyed the decor and the feel of the place. They have a pretty neat selection of sombreros that decorate the ceiling. And it really feels like a restaurant right out of Mexico. I was there in the early spring, so the patio was not open, but they have some neat outdoor direct decorations including a bunch of surfboards that line the parking lot. There was a broad group of patrons, from wealthy older couples who are well dressed and on a date to younger millennial out for a night on the town. Kennebunk is pretty quiet this time of year. I bet it's really hopping in a few months, and I would think this would be a great place to come after a long day at the beach or walking around the town. I recommend. read more

Kennebunk is me and my girl friends' place to go for a girls' weekend. Pedro's is always our no. 1 spot to stop. We love their margaritas - the El Pepino with muddled cucumber is the perfect compliment to a heavy (but delicious) cheese-laden meal. Specifically, the bomb Queso Fundido appetizer. The queso is made in a little crock which helps get the cheddar cheese really nice and crispy on the edges while keeping the middle super gooey, like, can stretch two feet gooey cheese mmm. I could spend all day scraping off every little crispy edge of cheddar cheese on the crock and lick it. I also got the fish tacos with a side of corn, which was fantastic. It can be a bit crowded and a decent wait but we enjoy our time there each time and the service has been good. read more

The negative reviews on here are crap. It is impossible to eat ANYWHERE in KBP it is the busiest most crowded place anywhere you go. That being said Pedros was the ONLY place during our trip we were seated quickly. Our servers were very nice and the food was amazing. Best salsa we have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. When you eat out you should expect, that since a human is serving you, and many other tables, at a casual texmex joint, that it will not be perfect. I loved it here. My bf and I decided to stop by around 3PM on a Thursday. It wasn't that busy even when it was happy hour. Our waiter didn't seem too happy to see us. We get it, tourists aren't exactly Maine's favorite types of people. I got the shrimp tacos and the "Blanca" Sangria and let's just say it wasn't the most pleasant food I've had. He got the special (Baja) tacos and he felt sick afterwards. What was sad was that the black beans that they served with our tacos and rice were straight out of the can. The food was dry or undercooked. The alcoholic drinks tasted like watery soda. I do not recommend going here if you want Mexican food. read more

There are no complementary amenities such as chips and salsa, those were an extra $9 as appetizers. Had an absolutely incredible meal at Pedro's. The drinks were exceptional, the waitstaff was phenomenal, and the food even better. I love when a restaurant is accommodating for vegans. This would have been a five-star review, but we both looked forward to speaking with the owner about our experience, but he chose to stop and socialize at every table but ours (including some tables multiple times). As a restaurant owner, you may want to focus more attention on ALL of your guests, especially since you make a point to stop and speak with customers. Walking through KPort on our way to a different restaurant for cocktails, Pedro's caught our eye. There was live music, ample outdoor seating, and - despite the fact that it was a Sunday - happy hour specials. We still walked all the way to our original destination only to find it closed... so guess where we turned around and headed back to? (Sometimes it's a good thing when your plans don't work out the way you want them to.) Pedro's seemed pretty busy, but we walked in and immediately snagged a table that was near the doors to the outdoor patio (which is exactly what I wanted because a) it was a tad too cold to sit outside entirely, and b) it was kind of like being *at* the party without being *in* the party, does that make sense?). The cover band playing out there couldn't have been more perfect: they played classics that everyone knew (Van Morrison, Beatles, Eagles, Jimmy Buffet), and the volume was exactly right (I could hear the person I was with no problem - when does that happen anymore?). Customers ranged from young twenty-something dudes drinking crappy beer out of cans, to families with little kids who were dancing underfoot of the servers (who were entirely gracious about it), to octogenarians diving youthfully into nachos. I'm a fan of any place that brings that kind of variety through it's doors. I'm also a fan of $5 happy hour margaritas with a thick rim of salt that come in regular sized glasses. Anyone else a little exhausted of fancy margarita flavors that skimp on everything (flavor, alcohol, size, etc.)? You're not gonna find that Pedro's. You want a margarita the way you know margaritas to be? That's what you're gonna get. And the chips and salsa were awesome, too. We got the large guacamole ($12; best guac ever? no, I make that, but it was absolutely worth the price tag for the amount you get) and a small side of salsa roja ($2). The error here was not getting the large salsa roja: it was so delicious, with the right amount of spice, I could have drunk it (and yes, I did wipe the bowl clean with my finger... do you think we could start a trend where instead of a shot of cheap whiskey followed by a shot of pickle juice, we take a shot of cheap tequila followed by a shot of salsa liquid? I'm in if you are!). Baskets of chips came out without us having to ask when we got low (and we weren't charged for them like most places are doing now). I can't speak to the rest of the food... but we were incredibly happy with our Sunday afternoon here. Sure, I admit, the service was all over the place: however, there were only four employees (one bartender who was pulling double-duty as the hostess, and three servers) in the ENTIRE restaurant and there wasn't a single empty table. Every interaction we had with our server was super friendly and apologetic for the wait, so the fact that it took a little while for things to come out didn't bother us. Don't let it bother you. Have a margarita, listen to the tunes, and remember: you're in Maine, outside with a drink, and nice weather is oh-so-very short here... so just soak it all in. read more
