Came here the other day for a family outing with my wheelchair bound father. We called and tried to make a reservation but they refused because "they don't do reservations." No exceptions. We were assured on the phone it'd be unnecessary to have a reservation around 7:30 anyway. We got to Pedro's, no seating was available except for one cramped table in a the back. My father was forced to wheel through a path that had people standing up in the middle of their meals to make room for him to get to our table. How hard would it have been to save suitable seating for someone with a disability? Really? I'm still livid over the way we were treated. If someone raised their hand to say boo about the fact that they saw a reserved table all that would need to be said was that Pedro's needed a table with handicapped accessibility so an exception was made. So disappointed with this place. To add insult to injury, our table took quite a while to set up and my family was forced to stand in the doorway because their was no place for my father to maneuver his chair to while we waited. There is no lounge area. For someone who is able-bodied this wouldn't such a problem, they could take a walk outside and wait or head to the bar. We had to stay put. Some woman who was dining at a table nearby chose to shudder and gasp and peek at my father from between her fingers. Her behavior wasn't Pedro's fault but if they had taken a reservation for us we wouldn't have had to wait in the doorway. When we left someone had blocked the exit ramp with their car and the owner/manager had to comb through the guests to find the self absorbed sorry excuse for a human who did it and he didn't even apologize to boot. Again, not Pedro's fault that he was terrible and didn't seem sorry at all that he made us wait for him to move his car... But maybe Pedro's could paint a red line in front of the ramp so it remains handicapped accessible. There should also be a handicapped parking spot, didn't see one. Also didn't see a walkway clearly marked to the ramp to indicate the path for handicapped entrance. Onto the food. Avocados are pricey out here, I get it, but the guacamole was lacking in lemon/lime and salt and I suspect water was used to achieve the consistency they wanted. Meh. read more

Absolutely excellent. Went to dinner with another couple when on vacation because we were tired of seafood and wanted a change. We normally live in Kansas City with MANY mexican food restaurants so I wasn't expecting greatness...I was wrong. This place was phenomenal and I wish it were closer to my house in KC so I could go 2-3 times a week. Hats off to the owner, the manager, and the chef. Thanks! read more

Went on a day in December for lunch. Only a few people were at the bar and a couple tables. I say this because the bartender and 1 server were running around as if the place were packed. Our server seemed like she couldn't wait to get away from us. After dropping waters, and not saying hi, she immediately left the table and ran back into the kitchen. This theme continued throughout the meal. We may have that effect on people but I'd like to think we're friendly and approachable people. The food was great. We ordered the queso fundido (bad idea for only 2 people) to start. Great house made chips and delicious baked cheese and meat. We both felt some salsa fresca would have been a good accompaniment. That should have been the entire meal for us but no. I had the fish tacos. Outstanding. Grilled mahi mahi, pickled slaw on corn tortillas. I judge a place on what type of tortilla they serve and I'm glad Pedros chose wisely. My wife had the barbacoa burrito. She felt the it was heavy on the "american bbq" flavor as opposed to the traditional Mexican and Caribbean barbacoa shes had in the past. Either way it was delicious (I had a bite or 4). The Pomelo Fresco she had was "amazing", props to the bartender. Overall we had a good experience. I prefer more attentive service where the guest is the focus, not getting back into the kitchen but the food and drinks made up for it. read more

Mediocre food and poor service. Bad pasty guacamole. Totally understaffed, so the service is slow. Ordered drinks, guac and entrees at once but Never received the margaritas. We asked our waitress if the drinks were coming and she offered to bring them, but we were almost done eating at that point. She offered to pour us more water but that never came either. Poured my own water, got my own napkins, and had to ask the bus boy for silverware and the missing salsa that normally accompanies chips. It was pretty funny that the waitress brought our check and had two margaritas on her tray. We thought she might give us one but we that didn't happen either. In her defense I think she was bar tending and waiting on half the tables in the restaurant. The carnitas were so strangely sweet that I thought the meat might be old. Been coming to Kennebunk for eight years and this was the first bad meal we've had. We still have bad tastes in our mouths. read more

The chips and margaritas are delicious! But the rice and beans...not so much. Beans taste like they're straight out of the can and the rice tastes like it's seasoned with packets of taco seasoning. I would not call this authentic Mexican cuisine. Service was also very slow. read more

Latin cantina atmosphere, with polite waitstaff. I was severely unimpressed with the quality of the drinks. Ordered a skinny margarita, and at a Latin restaurant usually I would expect a large tequila selection, but my margarita tasted very weak and definitely wasn't fresh lime juice which for me is a deal breaker. Ordered nachos as an appetizer, and they were very heavily greasy. I ordered the tacos for my entree and was impressed, great flavor and good sized portion!! Pros: the food is good. You will get great flavor from whatever you order. Cons: Be prepared to pay for it. An order of nachos with corn and beans cost us $20. Also, I'm not sure it is quite up to code to have a check holder (what our check was given to us in) held inside a bartender's pants. Literally. Tucked between his ass and his pants. Not what I want to be handed after an expensive Mexican dinner. The staff does not meet the level of pricing on the menu. It can be difficult to get attention from the staff, and then their level of courtesy is disappointing. P.S. Our check was not only given to us out of his pants but it was also put in to our salsa... yum. read more

Every product has its own lifecycle. Unless you're an unsuspecting tourist seeking Mexican cuisine in Maine, for whatever reason, this one has run its course. If you can't find at least your B-/C+ game between July 4th and Labor Day, you don't belong in the ecosystem. Don't complain that you're busy when you have 9 weeks of demand on your business. And while (as you snapped in my ear shot) 'we're not a fast food restaurant' (clearly), don't get flustered when someone approaches a mostly empty bar to order a burrito to go and a beer, and spend $35, wait 45 minutes with a child and get a spray of attitude. From California (we know Mexican food) grew up in Biddeford Pool. The new owner Norm has really made it a point to personally connect with his guest and had done a great job to elevate the experience, quality, and portions. Great night with family. The staff is also focused on safety and health during this challenging time. We are excited to be back multiple time every summer. Highly recommend, especially the margaritas! read more

This place has plummeted to such low levels that I'm not sure their food is even worth getting on the McDonald's dollar menu. I ended up ordering the chicken tinga tacos and the chicken was cold and I could of very well played basketball with it for a few days. The vegetable were canned and whatever mistake could of been made on making a simple taco was surely done. Now onto the drinks a simple margarita should be a staple to a " Mexican place" too much tequila and a drunk college student could of made a better one in their parents basement. First time coming to this place to visit all the way from NY to Maine & this was one of the top recommended places. The food was phenomenal. I recommend the steak tacos, and the Prima margaritas. Since we're from Texas, we were excited to see the sign outside that said, "best margaritas in the world". Unfortunately when we approached the bar, three bartenders looked at us but never spoke or acknowledged our presence. It was extremely disappointing since we've only encountered happy, welcoming people on our visit here. Guess the margarita wins last place. read more

This used to be the only Mexican place I would eat, I live an hour away and was looking forward to a good meal, but 60.00 later I'm just leaving upset I even spent a dime, better meals served at chipotle for a tenth of the price. Luke warm, canned veggies, hardly melted cheese, it came out in 5 minutes as if it had already been pre made. What a waste of my hard earned money on a Friday night date night! Food was really good! Very friendly wait staff. My only suggestion would be to add more dietary friendly options. Most of the dishes had descriptions of what was in it but the vegan one just said "daily". We were at our table for about 2 hours over the weekend, but I understand it takes longer during COVID. Best margaritas in town! Gluten free, dairy free and vegan friendly. If you're gluten free and vegan I recommend you try the veggie tacos vegan style with a side of beans and extra corn tortillas! Went here a few weeks ago. I had to wait an hr and half and it wasn't worth the wait. Service was good, food was decent but over priced. You have to pay for chips and salsa which I think is kind of annoying. I had carna asada tacos. Really good flavor but really not worth the wait and money. They make a decent drink. I had a gin and tonic (well) and it was pretty good. Overall probably go back when it's not busy and get something a little cheaper possibly and see if it's worth it then. read more

I went to Pedro's last night with my daughter. We had nachos as our appetizer. For entrees we had the rice bowl with chicken and the special for the night, pork enchiladas. The nachos were great (we added guacamole). The rice bowl was good. You really need to add the chicken and corn. The pulled pork enchiladas were delicious. They were by far the best thing I have eaten at Pedro's! Hope they get put on the regular menu! read more

Mexican food cooked by Mainers. Dry chicken, raw tortillas, Dry and bland rice and beans. Poorly cooked steaks with wrong temperatures. Trying too hard to be Mexican and not doing very well at it. Passing next time I'm in town, for sure!!!! read more

The food is great and the mojitos are perfect. However. The restaurant gave away our ten person table when we were ten minutes late, so we were left with three hungry kids and a thirty minute wait. We had a 6:30 reservation, and we didn't get food until 8:10. This may be a great place with a smaller group, but they are not prepared for large parties. That said, I have no issues at all with the stellar Mexican food. Also, our waters never even got refilled and we had to ask to get silverware. Been to this establishment many times, being locals, my 31 year old daughter, her fiancée and there four year old daughter, I in my 60, went to dinner Saturday night at 7 pm, encurring a tab well over $150.00. As we were finishing our dinners, we were asked to leave the table to make room for another party which the hostess stated were starving. The waiter came to collect our tab and we asked to see the mgr, and she retold us her friends were waiting a long time and need this table, she then asked the four of us to move to a table for two! I asked how we could sit there being the four of us and she rolled here eyes!! My daughter conducted herself in a very professional manor to explaine she had been in the food industry for ten Years during the past and would never ask a party to move or leave , This was very rude of her and again she rolled her eyes! The party waiting was a very young age group and I'm sure was part of her social group, as she was conversing regularly with them. Did I mention there was a band playing and it was obviously becoming a non eating establishment from this hour on. I will pass this on and will seek the owner to ask of this policy of asking a family to leave! Be aware is what I'm saying here. read more

Food USED to be really good but service and time to get food to table OR take out, is always dismally slow -- so if you don't plan on drinking your way thru the wait, don't go, not worth it. Very limited parking, esp in winter. Staff isn't all on the same page and female bar maid is just unfriendly and would rather not be there. And as mentioned before - be prepared to pay inflated prices for everything- no customer comps here!!! Superb. As someone who lives in the Southwest, I really had no interest in eating Mexican food while visiting Maine. This changed when my son demanded Tacos and Pedro's presented itself. The high quality of the ingredients was very noticeable, flavors on point and portions generous. I can only assume that those who left negative reviews complaining about the prices have only ever eaten at dive Mexican joints or Taco Bell. The quality of the food fully justifies the fair pricetag. read more
