I'm so happy!!! Finally a pizza place that's not just pizza! And in Frederick. So close. It's hard to find restaurants of this quality north of Denver, but this place hits all the marks. They have a decent beer and wine selection. I actually found a new favorite wine and already ordered some for home!! We sat out on the deck, which is quaint but perfect as the day was cooling off after a brief rain had passed over. My husband and I starting with the shitito peppers and the mussels and they were both perfectly spicy and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised on the quality of the mussels, again, being a smaller restaurant in a smaller town, but they proved me so wrong! We decided on the njuda pizza, again, wanting some spice, and boy did it deliver. The crumbly sausage pairs well with the mascarpone. Nice combination! We ended with the creme brulee, and the lemon notes are to die for. I'd recommend Peel to anyone as the menu has tons of diversity and a cool, fun atmosphere and spectacular staff. I plan on going back in two weekends from now and I can't wait! It would be the upcoming weekend but we'll be out of town! read more

It is such a great place! The servers are so friendly and the food is amazing. We love to come here and eat. We started ordering it to-go instead of ordering delivery from other places. It is so good. They have it ready in 5-10 minutes even during busy times. We are so lucky to have this great place in downtown Frederick. I have only heard one complaint from someone about Peel and that was "they hate that the menu changes because everything they make is just so delicious". One thing I would change is the ice cream selection. I wouldn't get the sherbets they seem to not go as quick and when they run out that is all they have left. My husband and I decided to try Peel for lunch today after a work friend recommended it several times. The rustic/modern look inside is very inviting with raw wood beams, and dark wood tables. We ordered a draft beer and two different brick oven pizzas. Mine was the with tomato sauce, whole milk mozzarella, Italian style sausage, red pickled onion, and gourmet style mushrooms. The crust is one best pizza crusts I've had, chewy but not tough, and crispy charred edges. The whole milk mozzarella was evenly spread and completely melted into gooey heaven. It was a bit of a drive coming out to Frederick for neapolitan pizza, but it was worth it. The place is a bit trendy, but still pretty cozy on the inside. The crust was blackened and soft as a neopolitan crust should be. My wife's gluten free pizza was pretty much her ideal GF pizza, and all the ingredients were spot on. Her crust was surprisingly crispy and held together great. Personally, I found the mozzarella cheese a bit flat tasting, but that could be because I asked them to overdo it for me. This is a hidden gem! It's worth the drive and it's great to see that they're interested in their own local community and regenerating the area. Things I loved: the warmth of the staff, the cool interior with exposed steel beams, refurbished bowling alley floor for the bar and tables, open pizza oven (of course, imported from Italy, they're the real deal), it's family-run and owned - you can tell it's a labor of love, the fact they use Parmesan on a lot of their pizza instead of mozz which gives it this unique nutty flavor, great by-the-wine glass list (no throw-aways there), the way they source local; the draft list is all Colorado, they have an herb garden in the summer, and much of their food they can reference the farms they get it from, and the crispy, perfect thinness of their pizza. It's one of my top five favorite pizza places in Colorado and I was really impressed with the quality. It's important to note that their prices are more like Boulder prices (I was expecting perhaps a bit lower, being out where they are) but I know that they're providing organic, local, and high-quality food so I'm happy to pay for it. I was there once before they moved to their newest location and had no idea what I was looking at on the menu and when I asked, I felt I was talked down to because I had never heard of most of the ingredients. The pizza tasted good but I felt was overpriced. I was in the newest space last fall to order some ice cream from one of the kiosks on the patio and the inside was very unorganised as far as seating and storage. Peel is one of the best pizza places I have been to in years. On a snowy Wednesday night, my husband and I were one of about three tables, which was nice for a quiet night out. We tried their 'bites' appetizer, which rotates regularly, and on that particular night was a feta-stuffed peppadew pepper with a lemon drizzle. It was very good. For pizza, we split a Maiale pizza, which is sausage, bacon, and pulled pork on mozzarella with gochujang sauce in lieu of traditional red. My husband cannot digest spicy foods very well, and the kitchen was very accommodating in substituting red sauce on half. I love spicy food, and thought the twist on the sauce was delightful. For dessert, we indulged in Little Man ice cream, which is yet another reason to adore this place, although they also had plenty of housemade dessert specials that also looked phenomenal. Perhaps we will try one of those next time. The bill automatically included gratuity, which might be surprising to some people. I personally would prefer they adjust the food prices to include tip instead of having the flat 18% listed on the bill, as that's better for the wait staff and customer, but that's just me. I love Peel but only when the pizza is well done because for some reason it upsets my stomach. Today was my last day at Peel not only because I'm moving out of state but because my salad was totally gross. Mostly all the lettuce was spoiled and it turned my stomach. Waste of money and with these times (virus outbreak), no thank you! Shame on you Peel. It was take out and no patrons to serve as is. How hard is this to ace? This is an awesome addition to such a small town. Frederick is still kind of out in "the boonies" but it's good to see that the Colorado foodie/craft beer culture is not lacking here either! My husband and I decided upon this place after craving pizza and looking up reviews... We are surrounded by pizza (the regular chains) by our house but we wanted something new and delicious! We found it here! The pizzas range anywhere from $12-20 depending on what you choose... They are all 12" sizes. They are a bit thinner than a pan pizza so if your starving or just like to eat a lot I would suggest getting one pizza per person. My husband an I shared one and were full, but we will probably get our own the next time we visit. We ordered a pepperoni with hot peppers on top. They put parmesan cheese on top of the pizza before they bake it in the wood fire oven. SO GOOD! I've never had a pizza like it before. It made just the right crisp texture on the top! We ordered a meat and cheese tray for an appetizer and were kind of disappointed. I know meat and cheese are expensive but it just didn't seem like it was worth the $8 we paid. However, it WAS awesome that they included bread from the local moxie bread Co. The beer on tap was also all local. I love a place with Colorado pride and support! We also had a Chai creme brule for dessert. Delicious!! There was plenty parking across the street in a lot (I think they have a lot on the side too) and we were seated inside without any wait on a Saturday night. We have seen the high yelp ratings for Peel for a while now and we were excited to get food from there. Didn't want to eat inside so we ordered take out. The pizza did not travel well back to firestone like some other posts suggest. This place is extremely expensive for the quantity and quality of food in our opinion. The stuffed mushrooms were very disappointing. Four small crimini mushrooms that had very little goat cheese and topped with micro greens trying to make it fancy. We ordered a Margherita, a bacon jalapeño, and a classic pizza. The pizzas are all small and the bottoms seem undercooked. The Margherita was okay but bland. The bacon jalapeño was the tastiest though there was a good amount of burnt cheese and burnt bacon. The classic should say it is green olives instead of the traditional black. The classic was for my kids and they hated all of the green olives that were on it. Overall we will not be returning even after "The Team" reaches out to me on here. Cut your prices and you might do better. Wish I would have read the negative posts on here before going. We spent $50 on what I say was maybe worth $30. read more

Earlier this week my wife and a couple of friends visited Peel in Frederick looking for some good pizza. Our friends had recommended the place since they had a good time on their previous visit. Although they live in Brighton we decided to make the drive to Frederick to try this place out. When we walked in we noticed it wasn't very busy but that's probably because it was a Monday night. We were immediately seated and had a look at the menu. We ordered a bottle of wine with our server and the whole experience was great. The place was a bit laid back casual with a good beer menu as well. After looking over the menu I opted for the bacon panini which had pork belly. It was amazing. The bar is made from reclaimed bowling alley floor, the tables are made from the antique floorboards of the building that used to be next to it.
