Great flavor and great atmosphere. Not sure I agree with the 18% surcharge in lieu of a gratuity but I typically tip at 20% because I know how hard service providers work. What I do not like, however, is having that surcharge added before tax. That means the government gets artificially more $ instead of your staff. $0.50 here, $1.00 there. It all adds up. read more

Unless you live in Frederick, you probably won't find yourself in Frederick, but if your are anywhere near Frederick you need to come here! I finally found a pizza place that rivals anything in New York, and they are an hour away from home! I look forward to coming here again, but I wish they were in Denver. I love Peel! Such a great local business. They use very fresh, mostly local ingredients, and have some yummy topping choices! There are also usually some great beers on tap and fun, creative cocktails. My favorite part about the pizza is the chewy crust with the slight char from the oven. Peels is a great traditional Italian Bistro. This isn't a typical Italian restaurant with spaghetti and lasagna. It features a much lighter menu. They make a great traditional Italian pizza with a thin crust not too heavy on the cheese and toppings. I highly recommend Peel for both a social lunch or a nice evening out. read more

Had the Capra and Mela pizzas. Both were delicious. We couldn't decide which one we liked best. The goat horn peppers on the Capra were to die for. Both sweet and spicy. The crust was tender inside and crisp on the outside kissed with a touch of wood oven char. Perfection! We ordered the full sized R.R.P. salad and it fed 4 people. I only wish I had saved room for dessert. This is a 35 min drive from home but definitely worth it. I can't wait to come back. Found this pizza joint by accident because the restaurant I intended to go to was closed (who closes a barbecue joint on a Monday?!) then I walked across the street to an Italian place which also looked closed/rundown so I looked across the street and there I came across peel. While the pizza options were a bit unconventional there were actually really good. I had the pulled pork pizza and my boss had the bacon and pickled jalapeño. Wonderful, attentive staff. Order the Cherry Awry drink (great taste) and the cabrese panini with spinach salad, this meal was so flavorful. It does get loud during the busy time, but the outside patio is an alternate place to sit and relax. Definitely will be back. read more

We were there the first week it opened up and the wait staff could have used a little more training and experience, but you can't knock that for just opening and it being a casual spot. We stopped by Peel for lunch and ordered a sausage panini and a caramelized onion and mushroom pizza topped with fresh mozzarella. They were fantastic and tasted very fresh. The pizza crust was crisp and chewy and had just the right blend of spices to pair with the pizza topping. The restaurant atmosphere is modern and staff are friendly. Finally some good pizza in the Frederick area. They have a great beer selection along with a few nice pizza toppings. If nothing on the menu is enticing you can also build your own pizza. I gave them only 4 stars just because it's a bit pricey for the size of the pizza. Happened to stumble upon this restaurant while going to shop for a new car in the area. It was lunch time and pretty quiet. It has a nice ambience and the staff is very friendly. I had 'The Mushroom' 12' pizza with mushrooms, carmelized onions, and homemade ricotta. The pizza was fantastic and the homemade ricotta in particular was OUTSTANDING. I was in town for an event and decided to go to Peel. I had the pesto pasta. It looked really good, until I realized it was basically a bowl of pesto with pasta added to it. Way too much pesto. The first few bites were great, by the end I felt like I had a brick in my stomach. The place overall was very modern. Staff was friendly and the menu looked decent. The place is small, with indoor and outdoor dining and a tiny bar. I will try the place again, but would not recommend the pesto pasta! read more

I was there for a late lunch so it was not busy at all. I ordered the House salad. I enjoyed the salad. It was fresh and tasty and the house dressing is very flavorful. Warning it is made with stone ground mustard to a little more heat than the honey mustard vinegars you get everywhere else. I ordered the pasta of the week was advertised as linguini with a spicy sauce and shrimp. First it was not linguini. It was made in house the day before. Fresh made pasta is usually a better than average choice. This pasta however was doughy and gummy, like stick to your teeth gummy and it was heavy. The waiter said not spicy like make the swear pour off. It was tomato sauce. I don't know what kind of spices were suppose to be in there but I think they never made it to my bowl. The shrimp was a nice size and cooked perfectly. I ate the shrimp and gave them their pasta back. It was a very disappointing dish. Be sure to ask questions, as the menu has a number of entries such as "Chef's Selection of Seasonal Vegetable" and "Featuring Fresh, Seasonal Ingredients". The waiter I had was good about answering all my questions. Maybe if I ordered the pizza I would feel very differently. However, fresh homemade pasta that I thought was inedible leaves me with no need to hurry back. read more

Being from NY, this is GOOD pizza! Amazing crust and a fantastic staff. We love sitting at the bar so the bartender can experiment with drinks for us and we can chat with them. The pizza is outstanding but I had to take a star off because they got rid of caramelized onions!!! That is my favorite thing on a pizza so I was a bit upset. This restaurant is delightful. The service was excellent; our waiter and the manager were both super-attentive and friendly. The pepperoni pizza was the winner-winner for the table. We love this place and are so glad they found their way into our little town!!! The patio is amazing the inside is amazing. And the best part the food is amazing!!! The pizza is absolutely to die for good. Everything is so fresh and well crafted. We don't even order in from the chains anymore we always order from this place.
