Representing 2019 in alphabet series, P is for Peet's. I went to this Peet's a few times as it was conveniently located in the heart of Shirlington right by AMC Shirlington. It's pretty small inside. Drinks are good but were always a bit more expensive than some coffee dates. Staff has generally been friendly. They have some outdoor seating as well, which is a nice option. They also sometimes have the gate up if the weather is good to bring the outside air in. The last time I was there I was annoyed though, which was in May 2024. I got there at about 2:45 ordered my drink, and then set up my computer to WiFi. The guy warned me we were closing at 3 PM today. I'm like oh great might've been good to have seen a sign on the door or been warned ahead of ordering, but I used the outside seating, which worked ok. But I was dealing with the Sun glare, and it was bit on the warmer side than I would've liked, but I made due. The other issue with outside seating when WiFi is no place to charge my computer, but thankfully I had enough juice to finish my work. Drink was still great per usual. read more

Service here is great. The employees always greet you and are very courteous. I haven't gotten everything on the menu , I've tried coffee, cappuccino, couple of the iced coffees and scones and croissants and they are all good. The store has a good vibe to it . The coffee is very strong and as I'm not there to return it, it'll get tossed. They are always nice but the baristas don't seem to talk to the cashiers. They're clean and have a great look to them. I usually enjoy Peet's and their great variety of pastries, which is why I was excited to visit this location for the first time on Saturday morning around 9 AM. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. There was no greeting when I walked in, and the employee who took my order came across as passive-aggressive. Another staff member (wearing glasses) had a similar attitude. I didn't catch their names because I felt uncomfortable and just wanted to leave quickly. I understand everyone can have an off day, but the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Love this Peet's location! The matcha latte is consistently good and the baristas are always friendly. This location is a little small but I've never had issues finding seating or parking. TJ is the best- I know if they're working in the morning I'm going to be in good hands! They're friendly, quick and efficient and very consistent. Love this location and their seasonal options. Much prefer this to other chain options and enjoy the outdoor seating/wifi. I love that they have a vegan breakfast option that isn't just fruit or granola! I ordered the vegan everything breakfast sandwich. It's beyond sausage patty with just egg and vegan cheese on an everything bagel. I'm not a fan of most vegan cheese used but it was yummy! I ordered on the app and it was ready before I arrived. I'm a tea person therefore I automatically choose Chaitea with almond milk. It was okay. Not much of a Chai taste. It felt like a splash of Chai in a medium size cup. The worse part, the almond gave me a reaction and caused me a huge headache. I'm actually allergic to a certain ingredient that some almond milk have. Since I don't know the brand, I ended up sick. Lesson learned. Overall, this particular spot is cute and has a small outdoor seating. It does get a wave of crowds. Of you like coffee, my friend recommends here. I want to give this place three stars due to the size but as packed as it gets, most times I'm able to find some kind of seat, either inside or outside. It's a nice alternative to the library and there are a variety of views of Shirlington depending where you sit. Peet's Coffee like Starbucks is pretty much the same across the board with what you get but this one is Shirlington's only coffee spot so that alone makes me like it. So perhaps it is Shirlington itself that makes me give the good rating but what does it matter? It's a nice place to drink coffee and chill anytime one feels like doing so. read more

My only minor gripes are that the beverages made with syrup often have way too much - even when asking for in person or on the app "light syrup". There is also very limited seating indoors. Yes, Peet's is a chain but it does not have that same unfriendly and corporate vibe that Starbucks gives off. They have adapted well to the social distancing protocols and seem to serve a majority of customers through mobile orders. The reason I came here was the power was off in my building in the morning and I had an appointment and needed coffee prior to it. I was able to walk right up and order. I went for an iced coffee, black. The coffee quality was better than Starbucks, far less bitter. I also ordered the croque monsieur breakfast sandwich, and it was far, far better than Starbuck's breakfast sandwiches. Such a friendly staff!!! I came in on Valentine's Day, and I could literally see the smiles in their eyes!!! They were getting ready to close down (so sorry!!!!!! I HATE coming in 30min - 1 hour before closing anywhere....). They stopped their closing prep (pretty much all the staff except 1!!!) to take my order!!! I've only been by for chai and Peet's does it well. I like the layout of the place. Even when its packed, the line moves because the Peet's team rolls. When the weather is nice, they open the windows so that's cool. I haven't tried to do work or post up in Peet's so I can't vouch for it but the life looks nice. I need to hurry up and download the Peet's app since I joined the Peetnik program, but I never have space on my phone to download the app and take advantage of the perks. If you have space on your phone and/or a better phone than me, they offer plenty of promo items. The team is very nice and they always plug the program, not in a pushy way but in a "just lookin out," way. Both drinks came out tasting awesome. Even though a latte is pretty simple, some places completely miss it. Well, this place is not like that. I can tell that their coffee is made of quality ingredients. My buddy had nothing but good to say about his mocha. This Peet's is located in a shopping center in northern Virginia. Parking can be found along the street, but is far easier to come across in the parking structure. I lucked out and found a spot just a stone's throw away from this shop. The workers are efficient in their service, and the place is clean. The ambient is peaceful, and the patrons are a fine bunch. I would definitely repeat. read more
