Came in this morning out of the blue and encountered Leah at the counter. With a smile and "Good morning!" my husband went on to order. I was undecided and asked about "iced" options and she immediately provided suggestions. I appreciated that she took her time to share them with me. I wish that my father could remember that Peet's is not my favorite coffee. Yet every time we meet for coffee he suggests Peet's. Although he can't even remember my birthday so I shouldn't be surprised. Anyhow, the coffee has caffeine in it so it gets the job done. It's not what I would call "bad" coffee, it's just not that good. In today's coffee market there are so many small artisanal coffee roasters that the game has been stepped up... Stopped here on my way to Target on several occasions. The first visit, there were 5 employees which some were standing around while two of them were in the middle of training a new employee. There was no one at the counter and it took them exactly 12 minutes before one them decided it may be a good idea to take our order. I love the smell of coffee and coffee ice cream is my favorite, yet I'm not a big coffee drinker. This is even more odd considering I'm from Seattle, the land of coffee-mania. My coffee chain preferences range from extreme dislike (Starbucks) to true love (Tully's). Even though I've lived in California for over a dozen years now, I've never gone into a Peet's until today and found they serve a darn good cup of coffee. The interior of this location is exactly what you'd expect of most any coffee chain but it's less cold-corporate feeling and more on the "relax and enjoy your cup o' joe" side. I found the staff to all be full of smiles and friendly. I got a vanilla latte and sat outside at one of several tables along the perimeter to sip and enjoy it. Very good latte - I was pleased. There is the indoor and outdoor seating available at this fairly popular location, so there won't be a lot available most the time, but you can usually find a seat if are getting your beverage to stay for a while. Peet's is as authentic as coffee gets! When you walk into the cafe, it has an lasting aroma of coffee beans roasting that makes you want to keep breathing in the scented air. The service is quick (in and out in about 7 minutes) and the atmosphere is comfy With an emphasize on productivity. I didn't stay to study at this shop but I did notice that many of the sit-down guest had their laptops out and were putting in some work. Overall, doesn't seem like my type of study environment but will definitely be aiming back for the flavorful drinks. The barista, Selena, was super sweet and personable. It was my first time at this establishment so I asked her for recommendations and she gave me about four different drink names and their description based on the ingredients and how much coffee was in them. I think she could tell I was a newbie to this coffee world. I thought it was super sweet that she was willing to describe so many drinks so I could make the best choice for me. Out of all of them, her description for the Havana Cappuccino had me sold when she said it was espresso mixed with condensed milk, milk foam, and topped with a dash of cinnamon. Anything with condensed milk sound delicious to me so I got that one, iced of course! The presentation of the Havana Cappuccino is, on its own, marvelous! It looks like a cloud of cinnamon on top of a serene creamy sky. I will admit the color makes it seem like the coffee will be dilute and that it will be one of those sweet coffee drinks that taste like there is no coffee in it. However, in this case, looks do not tell the whole story! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the coffee flavor is actually enhanced, yet not overbearing, in this drink. The condensed milk is probably the reason for this drink's smooth and delicious taste. As if that isn't enough, the hint of cinnamon gives this drink a nice kick of flavor that makes me want to keep going back for more! Peet's coffee beats any other coffee shop that I have gone to by far. I'm not sure how many Peet's Coffee are out there, probably not too many, but this location is my favorite for coffee and service. If we're talking chain coffee joints and to go right down to the bean. I find Peet's tastes way better than Starbucks by a long shot. Not only that, the prices for a large iced coffee here is cheaper than the competition. I normally come here for the "Iced White Chocolate Mocha with Brown Butter". Many times I would have to ask my wife what this choice is called because the flavors in this is too much to remember. Anyways, it has a good combination of milk, sweet and roast tasting all rolled into one. Although the brown butter is currently not available, this coffee has been my favorite here for a long time. (But, please have the brown butter year round). Other flavors I've tried here is "The Black Tie". Its cold brew coffee in condense milk. I find this choice a lot sweeter than others. The "Havana Cappuccino", it tastes bolder and uses condense milk. Also it's topped with creamy steam milk and sprinkled with cinnamon flavor. I do like how they place their cups on the counter, for you to see them pour milk and coffee at the same time in front of you, to me that's a premium to add to the experience. I'd like to mention about the service here and give kudos to the manager for putting the right people in place. Although there maybe new faces overtime, everyone has been welcoming and friendly with a smile in the morning. During my time here they did mess up my order only once. I come here for cold coffee and they gave me hot, but that doesn't stop me from coming because their stuff is amazing and service here still kicks ass. read more

Love all Peet's! Wish there were more, so we can't go everyday but we do enjoy it often. My husband usually gets the latte and he is always satisfied. I tend to go with the brewed coffee and it is also tasty. This most recent visit I went for the spiced hot tea cider and it was great! Every time we have been to Peet's, no matter the location, the service has been great. The line is usually not too long but usually moves fast if it is. This location in particular is one of the more crowded locations but still not that bad. And it's location in a nice shopping complex so you can enjoy a meal first and have some coffee and dessert after! The prices are comparable to other competitors and we feel it tastes better, so it is totally worth the longer drive. Which we tend to do on the weekends. The only criticism is that they don't have an app and we tend to go to Peet's after we have spent the entire day out so we usually don't have our Peet's gift card with us. I was pleasantly surprised when I was driving up Barranca and spotted this Peet's just up the street from my favorite but now recently closed OC Peets location which was in the District in Tustin. I never realized this location even existed or was so close to the old Tustin location. Glad to know there is a Peet's in the area. I ordered one of their new iced tea coolers made with Mighty Leaf tea, the Mango Sunrise lemonade iced tea is really refreshing. It's a nice change from Starbucks, but whether the environment suits you depends on whether you like classical music. They do play classical music at a medium-level volume, and for me, listening to it for about 15 minutes or so is enough for me to check out. So I hurriedly finished my coffee and left. But if you are a classical music fan, you could stay there all day long! The coffee is good. Last time I had a medium roast and found it a bit too light. Today I had the Ethiopia roast, which is a darker roast, and it was good. Rich and flavorful with just enough bitterness to spice it up. Service has been good and all the employees have been friendly and helpful. Tip #1: Soy milk for your coffee is available on request. Just ask! Tip #2: As of today, check in with your Yelp App to get $1 off a maple or pumpkin beverage. A cool place to return for a change of pace and a change of flavor and taste. Mobile orders are so easy with their app and my usual order is their espresso chai latte - I get it with oatmilk and decaf because I'm sensitive to caffeine. Once again, I think their UX on their app is really good with decent amount of modifications for one's drink order. The service at this location has been superb as they have their entrance blocked off with some tables at this time and have one person to take your order and hand you your drink if you don't order ahead of time. Um, guys...I think this might have been my first time going to Peets. I know...crazy!! I had lunch in the area and decided to stop in because one of my coworkers was like, "OMG PEETS, WE HAVE TO GO TO PEETS!" Sure. I wasn't feeling coffee cause it was 1pm and that mean if I consume caffeine after that time, I won't sleep tonight. I decided to get an iced matcha latte. Only after I purchased it, Yelp check-in offers $1 off on their new Javiva blended drinks. What I really liked is that they confirm instead of assume. They asked if I wanted it unsweetened and if 2% milk was okay to which I replied yes. This was pretty darn good! I think lightly sweetened would have made it perfect, but I'll have to try that out next time, along with their Javiva matcha blend. All things green tea!! Overall, I'm a fan. Sometime in this day and age we get so hype about the some fancy coffee bean that we forget the basics. That with reasonable beans but great barrister can make outstanding coffee. Only open until 5:30 pm during the week, and only 5 on the weekend, when most places are usually open later, especially Saturday when people are out and about. It is unfortunate because it just drives a lot of business to other local coffee shops which are open until 8, 9, 10 or later. read more
