I had not been to Philz in a while but I got a $3 coupon for a drink so I took advantage of it and decided to try it out! The new campfire s'mores drink really stood out to me but when I was choosing the options, I wasn't sure which level of sweetness to get (medium or light). I decided to call and ask to see if I can get any suggestions since I love sweet but also want to taste the coffee. I wish I remember who I talked to but whoever it was, she was so nice and walked me through the different levels of sweetness and I really appreciated that. I put in the order on the app and chose medium sweet and she was right, it was a bit too sweet and should have gotten light but it was still so delicious! This was my first time at this Philz Coffee location and it was great! I ordered through the mobile app and my drink was ready by the time promised. I got my usual iced Philtered Soul and it tasted the same as my usual Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa locations. I may have come at a non-busy time, but I loved how there was no wait or crowds! Came in here to try the new matcha series. I got a strawberry matcha and it was delicious! I was able to modify my drink to be less sweet, just perfect. I'm a huge fan of Philz and I loved this location! I was there on a Monday around 2:30 p.m and there was no one there. The place was super clean and inviting. I ordered my favorite, the iced mint mojito, sweet and creamy. My order was ready pretty quickly and I was so impressed with my drink! You can tell that they really took their time to make it look and taste amazing. It was actually the best iced mint mojito I've ever had at a Philz. Unfortunately, at other locations, there have been times where it doesn't taste the same or doesn't look as nice. This place is fantastic !! In fact all the Philz coffee shops are incredible. The service is fantastic, they are always smiling and happy and have incredible energy. I think I have tried almost all the flavors. I prefer decaf and half sweet. My favorite is the mojito coffee. Who thought mint and coffee complement each other. When our daughter is in town, she always wants Philz Coffee. It's in a great corner spot surrounded by a bunch of other great food places. Everyone is so friendly as soon as you enter. The order taker was very helpful and made sure we ordered our coffee exactly how we wanted it. When picking up the coffee they asked us to taste them to make sure they made them perfectly. This is such a great touch that I have not seen any other coffee shop ask. We all loved our drinks, especially the seasonal tiramisu latte. Philz is one of the better coffee chains out there, so we do make the trip down to this location from Irvine every couple weeks. I think we've been here at least 20 times already, and without fail, the staff have always been friendly and helpful! Always a clean and cozy environment too - great way to kick off our weekend. If you're unfamiliar with how to order at Philz, they have a bit of a different menu. You choose one of their bean types and then ask for sweetness and cream level. For example, I go for Philharmonic, medium sugar, medium cream. You really can't go wrong with most of their options. They also have these flavored drinks (i.e., Mint Mojito), but I tend to find these either too sweet or lacking flavor if you get it less sweet. But hey, to each their own! Also, I have no idea why, but their burritos are amazing: perfect size for 1 person, not too heavy, great flavor. read more

It's located right in the same plaza as some of my favorite places - Target, The Taco Stand, and Mendocino Farms - also right across from Five Guys. It's also conveniently located off of the freeway. That means more excuses for me to be in this plaza and to pick up my favorite coffee. :) There's tables on the inside and also on the outside patio. I don't think I've ever gone in and had trouble finding a place to sit. The overall vibe is friendly, inviting, and relaxed. The center has plenty of parking and inside there are a few tables where people were either chatting away or working on a laptop. Thr line moved quickly and my sister and I tried the new Tiramisu holiday drink. It was so delicious and full of flavor. Philz was always a San Francisco thing to me. It was something I looked forward to every time I went into the city. And then I found the one in Orange. And next the one in Huntington. Followed by this one here in Mission Viejo. It's the closest location to my house, but probably the one I visit the least. One of my favorite things to do is grab a Philz black tea and go for a walk... and the walks aren't quite as enjoyable around MV as they are around the Huntington Pier or Old Towne Orange. It's spacious and the ample parking makes this spot quite attractive. I like how open the inside of the store feels, with high ceilings, plenty of glass to let in natural light, and plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor for those who prefer to lounge. The food selection looked great, with pastries, hot items, and other grab-and-go selections. I've been here on two different occasions and the staff are generally very friendly and helpful, especially if you may not be accustomed to how to order a drink at Philz. The only downside was in my most recent visit, I had ordered online through the app and unfortunately my drink was not ready by the estimated time. Although I wanted to be understanding that it's still a relatively new spot and they may be understaffed, it was a bit annoying to see only 1 barista churning out all the drinks while a couple of the other associates are just laughing in the back (or maybe restocking items?). I work in a nearby plaza and have been seeing "coming soon" on the Philz Coffee sign outside The Commons for months. I was so excited to hear that they have finally opened. Since then, I have become a regular! I have tried both the mint mojito and the honey haze, but honey haze has been my go to recently. I am usually not a coffee person, but the honey haze is perfectly sweet and mild on the coffee flavor. This is the perfect pick my up and the staff are always so friendly. They do have mobile ordering, which I suggest you use, sine I have seen some pretty long lines. The place is extremely spacious and has a bunch of tables and outlets suited for working or studying. The only complaint I have about this place is that they aren't open any earlier. I start my days around 5AM and already want my cup by then. My first time at this establishment in general. Located in a new shopping center next to target in Mission Viejo, Philz is a different type of coffee shop with lots of options. I am not a big coffee drinker, but I love lattes and other fun drinks! I ordered a rose iced coffee, it was sweet and interesting! I don't think that I would get this drink again, but it was fun to try! The staff were nice and it was busy. I bought my husband a bag of beans to grind at home as well. AHHHH. So.. I'm from Vegas. Every time we're in Cali visiting my in-laws, I always need (want) to get Philz for the iced mint mojito. There is no dupe in Vegas that matches. I had no idea this location existed until I randomly did a Yelp search this morning and realized there's all of a sudden 2 locations closer to their house than the Bristol St location I usually visit. LOVE this location. It's so much closer to where we're staying, the parking lot has plenty of open parking, and everyone here is super nice from cashier to baristas. Cute little small shop. It's not big but there was a lot of people sitting and working. There are a lot of solo seating available. That's probably what it's there for lol. The menu seems small because they didn't have like lattes or americanos, etc. They did have a bunch of different flavored coffee, I'm sure you can make it into a latte or whatever? I'm not sure. I got the speciality coffee - honey haze . That was delicious!!! The sweet amount wasn't too much. It was really good. My mom got the mojito coffee and I thought that just tasted like straight mint . lol I'm not sure about that one... but I'd definitely come back to try the other speciality flavors. Also, the young lady at the far left was very nice as well. Quality/Quantity: Lots of really good breakfast options including baked goods and to my pleasant surprise breakfast burritos. We ordered the following: Chocolate muffin - really tasty Almond croissant - good with a tasty filling Chocolate croissant - good but needs more chocolate Bacon/Egg burrito - a little smaller but tasty Coffee- Very tasty Value: Seemed reasonable to me. Overall: I heard big things about this place from friends from the Bay Area who are familiar with the company. I absolutely love the ability to customize your coffee based upon their scale of cream and sweetness. Also when you pick up the drink they will adjust it further if needed. What a cool concept. What would turn this experience to a 5 star? Here are my thoughts. 1) Provide option to heat up baked goods. 2) Put napkins in the bag. 3) Add intercom system to announce when order is ready for those sitting outside. I asked the employee if it was okay to go outside and he said he would run out the order. Unfortunately after waiting awhile I went back inside to find my food in a bag and my drink.
