They take to go orders before in store orders. So if you're 3rd in-line in the store you're more likely 13th in-line.

Just was there Fri 8.30. No line which was great but took forever to get my drink. Boo. Come on guys...a little more speed.

The service was eh at best. The one who took my order at least smiled at me but did not say hello or anything to let me know he was ready to take my order. I ordered the maple latte which I have had at other Peets and consistency or this one is just tht bad? I enjoyed the three I have had at other places. The two guys on serving the drinks were two busy worrying about the two young girls and their drinks then to care about my drink. The guy called me Julliana and I said "I think that it is suppose to be Orleana maybe" and his "yeah whatever" attitude was annoying. I asked for the drink to be warm which to him apparently means burn my mouth but whatever RIGHT? Anyhow. Disappointing. Came here on a Saturday and ordered a cold brew and a macchiato. The drinks themselves were good, although the cold brew tasted a little watered down but it was still drinkable. My reason for the low rating is the cleanliness of the establishment. Or more accurately, the lack thereof. While we were ordering, we glanced at the pastry display and there were numerous fruit flies hovering and landing on the various pastries. Additionally, the bathrooms were terrible- tissue all over the ground and just felt really dirty. It wasn't busy (at the time we ordered it was just us two and one woman studying) and there were at least 3-4 workers yet it didn't seem like anyone had tended to the restroom all day. After our drinks were called, I went to add half and half to my beverage and there were fruit flies coming out of the trash! Aka the trash to dispose of stirrer sticks and straw wrappers... right next to the open dairy pitchers! There was a lot of chit chat amongst the workers which is fine since it's slow, but the place just seemed dirty and unkempt so maybe instead of chatting and gossiping, tend to those things first. I lost my appetite just being in here for 15 minutes, which is disappointing because my last visit was great. read more

There are only 3, maybe 4 Baristas who are decent human beings who work at this store. I order the SAME DRINK EVERY DAY SINCE MY HOME BURNT DOWN 427 days ago and I relocated. I am very ill, was in an accident and now I have someone who takes care of me get my drinks for me. They discriminate against her by trying to charge more for the same drink I have ordered over 965 times! Maybe they forget we see the drink count as well! Charging a customer $.50 EXTRA FOR THE HONEY THAT THE DRINK IS MADE WITH FOR 2 DRINKS BECAUSE THEY ARE ALLERGIC TO SUGAR IS DISCRIMINATION. Starbucks offers the service complimentary. They don't say : "ma'am, I know it's not on the board but you're just gonna need to wait longer because I don't like to make your drinks for you." I don't complain I take them even when they're wrong I had sugar even if I get an allergic reaction and that's the story. read more

I love this Peet's! The drinks are always well made and the staff.... oh, hold on! The staff are always there to greet me as soon as I walk in and although I'm not a regular( I would if I could!) they treat me like one. The place is clean and new, and the outdoor seating is very nice, with umbrellas and planter boxes. Unlike it's competitor, Starbucks down the street, I never have to wait more than a few minutes for FRESH and tasty coffee. I'm also vegan, and they have vegan pastries! YAY I give this place two thumbs up! read more

first off, i try very hard not to review chains. I'm making an exception this time. I've been coming here pretty regularly since they opened. I've always appreciated their efficiency in the morning rush and their friendly faces, but this week was horrendous. The line was always almost out the door and it took much longer than appropriate in the morning rush hour to get my coffee, pay, and leave. this isn't because their friendly faces have gone away, but because someone thought it was a good idea to have a new, not so experienced or alert person manning the cashier/drip coffee/pastry. today was the worse, the coffee wasn't even made!!! while in line having a mini panic attack, i struggled with the idea of leaving without caffine (not good for anyone) or stand in this dreadful line and wishing i could jump behind the counter to help this unalert person out so everyone can have their caffine fix. please, who ever does the staff scheduling, please bring back your regular morning staff. read more

This place is great. It's location (marin/mall) could have put it over the edge, but this place does not give the feel of being in 1) overly entitled marin; 2) a mall or 3) a peets. Great staff and vibe. Full disclosure: I took one star off just because they're a chain. read more

I like peets over starbucks and this one also happens to be close to work. Staff is friendly and fast. They have never had my order wrong. Easy to get to from the south bound freeway. Bathrooms are clean. They have a nice seating area outside. Lots of seating inside as well. Besides coffee there is a good selection of quick bites to eat and coffee brewing equipment like pour overs French presses ETC. read more

This is the best Peets in the bay area. They have an extraordinary staff! Always cheerful, always friendly, always doing their best, and always with a smile. Love Especially Tyler, but every employee there is genuine and happy. That must say a lot about the management. Good job It is roomy inside and always clean. We're from out of town, I got so excited to see there was Peets close to the fwy on our way back home. We were even more excited to see it opens at 5am....WRONG! They had a hand written sign that said 5:30, probably came into work late because the enthusiasm both employees showed looked like they didn't want to be there..They yanked the sign off the door, no greeting, no smile, we should have left then, but we were in desperate need of coffee before we hit the road for 5 hrs.....everything went down hill from there. Coffee was cold, ham and cheese croissants almost frozen, espresso tasted old (most likely they didn't clean the machine from the night before). Seriously if you don't like your job as a barista, which entails early hours find another job. I'm sure somebody else would be more appreciative to work at Peets! read more

Great location- I go here a couple times a week. Really good drinks; you'd think the coffee would be the same at all locations being that they make it from recipe cards, but it's not- the Novato Peet's near TOAST is terrible for some reason. The manager has purple hair and is a sweetheart and Mark Twain sits in the corner holding forth. The Grab N Go is usually pretty full and the pastry display is too. Their fixtures are clean and the service is usually brisk, especially for a Peet's. read more

Not sure why people go crazy for Pete's coffee. It was my first and definitely the last time. First, there are no choices like most other coffee places and second, whoever made the caramel macchiato did not the basic of espresso making. It was boiled/frothed milk basically. Worse coffee ever. Starbucks the best. But had to try Pete's coffee since they are on every corner around here. read more

Please figure out how to make the drinks quicker. I love Peets but for some reason this Northgate location is painfully slow! I don't have the same issues at other locations. Also- 2 times I've gone there with my friend at 7:30am on weekday mornings and they RAN OUT OF COFFEE! Seriously-- ran out? I was so embarrassed for them. My friend just wanted a basic large coffee, and the response was, "how about a small? We just ran out of coffee." What??!! read more

Due to the COVID people here is getting crazy here, I came wearing my face shield to redeem my point with my coffee, And the cashier handed me a surgical mask ask, and told me that I have to wear it also. I asked why? I am covering my hold face with this, she said "you have to wear it" Are you serious? She really believes that her fabric dirty reused mask is covering better that my $34 COVID 19 face shield?, if you can breath while wearing the mask my friend is because your mask has HOLES!!!! on it, that is why my face shield has some room next to my ears so I can breath. Daaaaaaaaaa! Well, she refused to take my order, just because my face mask didn't look like hers. I didn't want to spend a lot of time with her asking her where in the constitution says that my hold face face shield doesn't work, so I put on the mask that she touched with her dirty gloves because she is touching money. I ordered my coffee, but I guess the lack of air is already affecting her brain because my order was all messed up. I ordered with almond milk latte and she made it with cow milk, it took forever because they are soooooooo slow. On top of that I ordered a Medium coffee but they just filled up half with coffee and the other half with foam. After waisting 27 there, I didn't have more time to spend with them, so I took my foam half coffee with cow milk, and said good bye forever to peet's. App deleted, peet's no more. read more

I love Peet's coffee. But there is something about this location that made me not want to come back. First off they are kind of slow there was a full staff and everything I don't think there needs to be 3 people making coffee at the same time there should be 2 at the register right? Anyway the 3 barristas were just chatting away and getting mixed up on what they had made. I have tried the new golden cappuccino many times at another location and loved it ordered it here it tasted like pure ginger not too tasty. Maybe get more training on making drinks and get the staff a little more organized and costumder friendly. read more

This is the best Peete's Coffee Shop in Marin. I used to go to the one in Corte Madera and Greenbrae, but this one in San Rafael just rocks. It has great ambience, service and it is close to Panera Bread and Chipotle, so I can get a cup of Joe, Burrito and pastry in one location! read more

Real community feel and all around nice environment. Coffee is almost always just as described and much better quality than Starbucks.

I feel like this is a hit or miss. On some days the store is super clean and organized, then the next time the trash can is overflowing. The same goes for the quality of the drinks. Sometimes you can't even taste the coffee and then other times it's one of the best lattes I've had. I've written in before about how dirty this PEETS is. Still very dirty and alot of employees standing around. Also the bathrooms just seem to get worse. Soap dispenser broken and all that in there is a big container of soap that can't be used??? EWWWW that means no ones washing their hands, that go in to the left bathroom. They moved the condiment station and it made it feel very crowded. I've also contacted them several times in regards to a handicapped button to open the door, not okay! Overall this is just a poorly run store that needs a major deep clean and some working soap. read more

I love Peet's Coffee and Tea! I went here with a friend today and it was great! The atmosphere was really inviting. The staff were fun and friendly, engaging us in good humored conversation as they prepared our order. I had a loose leaf Earl Grey tea with Bergmont, which was brewed to perfection. My friend had a mocha with whipped cream, and declared it was "a good day for mochas!" after sipping it! Their Major Dickason's blend is always fantastic, especially in a press pot brewed for around four minutes. You can really feel the kick of the caffeine! We're going to take the roastery tour in early 2016, and we can't wait. read more

I love peets coffee and would drive miles to get it, instead of Starbucks. However the staff at the north gate location is horrible. So rude, not friendly, horrible attitudes. I work at the mall and I went in today to get a coffee for my coworker. I've never been talked to the way that the barista talked to me. Very condescending. Pretty much threw the drink at me. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location. Horrible for me since I work in the mall. But no one should be talked to that way! read more

Another standard staple in the neighborhood. After yesterday's foam fiasco with the Peet's off Central, new Peet's Coffee...you rock! I loved the friendly chitchat and service from Aaron and Kyle today. Looking stunning in the brown and cream, as always. I got my soy lattee in less than five minutes. Superman fast and unbelievable! Perfection! Plus, the store is fabulously clean. The setup is nothing to cheer about; looks the same as any other Peet's. I guess it'll be up to the service and faces to bring out the character! The coffee is good and fast and way better than Starbucks. This location is conveniently located at the mall which just happens to be between my two jobs and is perfect for an afternoon pick me up. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. read more

Love this place to study, read & work. I don't suggest going on Friday until 6 pm if you're there for one of those three reasons - they have a guy that comes to play the guitar & sing. It's quite distracting for me. read more
