The espresso was strong, yet possessed a smooth texture, while my tea was cool and refreshing, having a subtle berry hint of flavour that touched the back of the palate. I was hoping it could have been a tad stronger but, for having no caffeine, it was fine. My breakfast burrito was hearty, juicy, and well seasoned, as it was stuffed with scrambled egg, chopped spinach, cheese, and cubed potatoes snuggled in a nice green wrap. The accompanying side of salsa provided a sweet and tangy note to brighten this, already well-balanced, nosh. The seating area was clean, while the tables were all well kept. I'm disappointed. This used to be a five-star cafe for me. But there's a barista (red hair, mid-20s maybe?) who constantly coughs everywhere. Im talking openly and right in front of customers faces. She practically coughed ON ME while taking my order. There was zero attempt to step aside or even turn her head. I nearly walked out, but I felt too awkward. It's baffling that someone in food service wouldn't understand the importance of basic hygiene, especially post covid. To be clear the rest of the team is great. The barista with short black hair is professional, so that's at least something. But something needs to change here. I won't be coming back if this keeps happening, she needs to be talked to desperately. read more

Currently not reading or abiding by the guidelines corporate and businesses throughout Ventura county have in place to NOT pester patrons to put on or wear masks. It's embarrassing at this point for this location. I have given this location THOUSANDS of dollars over the past 3 years and this is the final straw. When all this BS is said and done and we can make fun of anyone who believed masks actually worked, true patriots will remember the businesses who overstepped and had 18 year old employees pretending to be doctors telling people to not breath oxygen when, where and how they please!!! read more

I used to work here, and this place had gone down hill as far as staff goes. I have been away for a about a year and now back in town. The staff is as dead as the poor plant next to the restroom. I wanted to read the newspaper that people leave behind it was 9/12/13 when I walked in but the paper was from 9/5/13 clearly nobody thought of removing the old papers. I go because of the good product, unfortunately the staff is not up to par, unless you like tattooed pierced college girls, that deliver lifeless service. read more

I've always enjoyed Starbucks coffee but was never crazy about the feeling of being rushed. I stumbled across Peet's Coffee & Tea one day and am now an avid fan. This location in particular is my favorite. The manager is very cool. He seems to treat his employees with respect and doesn't mind actually working. I am impressed with the customer service and am immediately greeted and am given undivided attention. The coffee is delicious too! Check it out. read more

This is solely about the customer service, and unfortunately, another reviewer recently described the exact same experience. The previous team was always warm and genuinely customer service oriented. Since the recent staff turnover, the experience has completely changed. The new baristas come across as though they dislike interacting with customers. Their demeanor is odd and off putting, especially for a customer facing role. This isn't based on one bad visit either. It's happened one too many times and has become a consistent pattern every time I come in. Whether I'm walking in to place an order or picking up a mobile order, I'm often met with blank stares instead of a simple "Hi" or "Welcome." There's rarely a "Thank you" or any acknowledgment at all. It feels like I'm the one providing the customer service by saying hello, please, and thank you- despite being the customer. A friendly greeting and basic courtesy go a long way. I hope management provides additional customer service training or hires people who genuinely enjoy interacting with customers. Coffee shops are often part of someone's daily routine, and a positive interaction can make a big difference. Right now, every interaction feels uncomfortable, which is disappointing considering how welcoming this place used to be.

The staff were friendly, quick with my order and there are plenty of seats inside and out to sit at. I went here on a Friday morning and the line was long but it moved quickly. This La La Land cafe location, though, is the worst one of them all. The customer service and experience is always terrible and horribly long. It's NOT that other locations aren't popular like this one, it's that the baristas here use this as their hour to chat like it's group therapy. It has always been, on multiple occasions now, a shock to witness the way the workers are completely oblivious to the customers and lack any consideration, especially on speed. Today was the breaking point for me as I gave them the benefit of the doubt, as maybe the first time was just a one-timer experience. Unfortunately, it was not. Today, my boyfriend and I came by and ordered drinks and a piece of hazelnut toast. The line wasn't too bad while waiting, but what took a long time were the drinks and worse, the food. We watched as the girls making the drinks were chatting away, one with dark brownish black curly big hair with blond streaks and glasses, talking to her other coworker. It was really frustrating as they were holding onto drinks while they were finishing stories before calling out the names for them. I eventually had to ask that exact girl if she could check on my toast, as it had been around 10 minutes. She said she'd go check, and that was great....up until she saw someone she went to college with after walking 6 feet towards the back and then got into everything that was new in her life with her. After another 5 minutes, I had to ask the black girl with a bandana that she was working with to go check on my toast; as she was now doing multiple drinks at once since the other worker decided to take a 15 minute break apparently with no notice or communication to anyone. She went to the back and came back out with my hazelnut toast that I ordered a couple minutes later, and I thanked her. I also said a quick sorry to her since I had asked that girl with the two-toned hair already and knew that this girl was busy, but she nodded and said it's totally fine. Realistically, this puts the customers in an awkward position because although she might be okay with taking on another coworkers work and job, the customers aren't always thrilled to ask multiple workers where their food is when they shouldn't have to in the first place. You know it's bad, too, when the older gentleman next to me looked at me and stated how "nice" it was that I had to ask for them to check on my food for a second time, as he had also noticed that she completely disregarded her job, too. He said he'd go ballistic if he was the manager. "Me too," I said to him. Like stated earlier, though, this isn't the first bad experience here. Coming here previously consisted of the girls also talking so much to each other that they got the drinks WRONG! One of the girl baristas mentioned that the drink was made wrong as they were putting it out on the table to grab. To make up for it, they opened the lid and squeezed a half cup of chocolate sauce on top of the iced Camp Rock matcha latte I'd ordered. With La La Land, I enjoy their matcha and their food, but with these consistent terrible experiences, it has solidified my service at Makenna Coffee right across the street. All of these issues could be avoided if the workers paid attention and did their jobs. Literally. If everyone acted like this was their job and they had to get the drinks out in under 2 minutes like Coffee Bean does, it wouldn't be such an awful experience. But because there is no sense of urgency at all with any of the workers, and the lack of attention leads them to messing up the orders, then this location really isn't deserving of any business.

Lots of comfortable places to sit inside and outside. Clean bathroom for customers. Only thing worth mentioning is it got a little warm and stuffy inside while we were there, but I survived. :) I will definitely go back again. Really interested to try their ice desserts, pictures look yummy!
