I've been here 100x and can't believe I never left a review, hands down the best coffee in my opinion in Ventura County! I'm based in Oxnard, so I wish it was closer since it's only in Thousand Oaks or Ventura, but I make the trip whenever I can. Customer service is always friendly and fast, and even when my order has been off, they've always made it right, whether in store or through email or chat, they handle it right away. I honestly wish there were more of these everywhere instead of Starbucks. The coffee is actually strong, has a real kick, and you can truly taste the beans, way more rich and potent. Now I understood why Peet's coffee is a distant 2nd place to Starbucks. Came in to order a simple black ice tea and oatmeal breakfast. Cashier missed the request and entered green tea...now I look like the idiot for having to say...I ordered black ice tea. The young lady was gracious and said no problem...but one can sense that I made the mistake. The medium ice tea is like a small...so being curious I went to AI and Google to ask, "Does Peet's coffee offer free refills on ice tea?" As this is normal for Starbucks...offering free refills for both plain coffee and tea. Every internet writer said, "Yes, Peet's Coffee does free refills for both coffee and tea drinks...every web entry." Anybody...just do the same thing and see if you get a different answer. I didn't want to ask unless it was standard...since I already seemed wrong for getting the wrong tea that I ordered. Going to the counter I asked, may I get a refill...holding up my "small" cup of tea? The manager quickly said..."Oh the re-order is over there there at the cashier line..." We don't offer free refills...it's $1.40...something like that. Full circle moment...welcome to last place. Second place is last place. Oatmeal was below avg...not offering the higher quality add-ons...the blueberries were dried out not fresh like Starbucks. This is an obvious no recommendation to ever enter a Peet's Second Place Coffee House. If there was a half star...then that's what I'd give them. read more

This person at the register who helped me seemed very unprofessional. They have to train their staff better. Peet's has a much stronger presence in NorCal, so I was happy they had a location here in Ventura. My usuals are either a regular cappuccino or latte. This time something else caught my eye and I was tempted to try it, the Iced horchata oat latte which sounded like an interesting combination. I thought the vanilla overpowered the horchata flavor even though I had modified the drink to light vanilla. This will probably appeal to someone that prefers a sweet drink. Next time I will stick to my usual which have never disappoint. Service was good, the staff greeted me when they saw me. The shop looked clean and well kept. read more

The last 2 times I came here. I felt like barista service was friendlier and warmer. But ironically, the inside temperature is too cool/ cold in Dec. The workers explained their thermostat is overly sensitive and sometimes kicks into AC mode even in the winter months. I also think the very tall windows add to the colder temps. read more

Well, I remembered why I stopped coming to Peet's a long time ago! Last week I dropped by on a whim, I was in the area and decided that I wanted something to drink with caffeine in it. At the time, I couldn't quite remembered why I stopped coming and after getting my drink I was even more puzzled because it was delicious. The customer service was great and the overall wait was not bad either, so why did I stop coming?? This morning, I remembered the delicious drink I had during my previous visit and decided to drive out to Peet's for another one and then I remembered why I stopped coming in the first place, consistency! Peet's is really a hit or miss type of Coffee Shop because it very much depends on who is making your drink whether it is going to be made right or not. And thus, I found out the hard way (again) that this particular location on Victoria Ave. was notorious for lacking consistency in drinks. The people there are nice, the service is pretty quick and overall the coffee and espresso is fairly good but, what I can't stand is not being able to have the same flavor on the same drink every time I go in. It almost feels like flavor roulette and if I am going to be spending 8 dollars on a coffee drink, at the very least, I would want it to taste the same every time I order it. This was the main reason I had switched to other places in the area like Beacon. At least until this particular Peet's can get their act together. read more

Pete's is always good. I have never had a bad drink or treat. Although it's a chain their flavors are very different from Starbucks or coffee bean (which I also go to). I really love their seasonal flavors throughout the year as well. Sometimes their things are a miss for me but it's like that everywhere (like their current jelly-yuck). Their almond croissant is my favorite warmed up and their horchata oat latte is my self treat. Their basic dark roast coffee is also delicious if you want simple. It's pretty tiny inside, which is a little bit of a drawback, but I don't often hang out and coffee shops anyway. However, it's an OK place if you need to do a little bit of work or want to sit and sit on your coffee. My dad and his buddies like to hang out there. They have a lot of regulars, which I think is really cute. Their drinks can be pretty pricey. So I don't come here often but I do as a treat to myself. And unfortunately, the location does often have a lot of homeless people around it. If that kind of thing deters you or bothers you. Sometimes they can get pretty busy and it seems like they're going very slow, but really your order just takes a long time because they are so busy. They do work really fast. And they really know their drinks, so if you ask them, what is in some thing or for a recommendation, they're very knowledgeable. Nine out of 10 times they're also very nice and funny. Literally one of the only coffee houses that has a legitimate plant based breakfast sandwich. If you are a vegan I understand your frustrations with the top coffee chain in the U.S. coming out with a sandwich but used real egg and real cheese. Peet's Coffee and Tea came in and saved the day! They have not only one but two Fully Vegan breakfast sandwiches. They also offer plant based drinks. What more can a Vegan ask for! The holiday latte is fantastic! I'm not a fan of pumpkin latte, cookie butter or peppermint mocha. However, this holiday (Christmas) latte is perfectly NOT over spiced. Been here few times and I really like this Peet's. What i like is that people seem to know each other, like its a family owned. Studied here few times and wasnt so loud. I did come at times where it was super loud and that I did not like. Their staff are really nice and professional. I love Peet's and am so happy when I get to make this the coffee/tea stop instead of the "other place". On this visit, it was a cold and drizzly Ventura morn and I was headed to the county building for trainings. Peet's was busy, which made me a little nervous if I would be able to get in and out. I walked in and and was greeted warmly, was able to order quickly despite the small line ahead of me (they move quickly here!!), and was happy to see they had great vegan options. I ordered a lemon poppyseed scone which they heated for me and grabbed a REDD bar for later. The scone was SO good! Not too sweet and just the right consistency. My decaf was perfect w enough room for soy milk. I added cane sugar and cinnamon to my decaf and was on my way. Kudos to Peet's for making great coffee, moving the line, being kind, and for having great vegan options. Will gladly return to this location! read more

I went into Peets Coffee and Tea with my mom this morning and she ordered an Americano for me and a pastry for herself. When my mom went to pick up the Americano the lady making the drinks was very rude/ abrupt to her. My mom responded by saying 'you're very friendly this morning'. My mom then asked me to go to the counter to ask for a knife to cut the pastry she purchased. I stood at the counter to wait for the lady making drinks to help me. She turned around and said ' I know you're with that lady. She was very rude to me . Is there a problem?'. I said ' I came up here to ask for a knife and you're treating me this way?'. I asked for the manager and the name of the lady which the manager refused to give . I told them I would call corporate which I did. The store does not provide proper training on how to treat customers. This is the second time we have had rude service at this store. The first time was about four years ago. read more

Everyone is friendly here & they greet you upon entering. If you're a frequent customer, they greet you by your name, which is nice. Located near the Ventura Gov. Center. This location is a pretty decent size with few outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. Clean. There's always the same group of gent's hanging out there every morning on the weekends. I only have 2 complaints. One: their peppermint drinks tastes like they always forget it. I'm sure it's in there somewhere, but maybe corporate needs to improve the recipe. Two: the app should improve on their customization options. For example, if i wanted a Reg Iced Soy White Chocolate peppermint Mocha... i can't customize it under white chocolate because there's no peppermint syrup option. If i chose to customize the Reg Iced Peppermint Mocha, I'd remove chocolate sauce, add white chocolate sauce and change the milk to soy ... my Regular drink is costing me over $7. Again, this is a corporate issue, that's why this location still deserves a 5 star. read more

Peets has always ROCKED but now barista Andrea ROCKS too!! We stopped in to buy a pound of espresso beans and what a bonus we had with the coffee bean knowledge Andrea shared. She sold me a pound of Garuda Blend Dark. She was amazing. And we were there only 20 minutes before closing with no attitude given us as some places might do when customers arrive while they are trying to close. Then of course she offered me the complementary cup of coffee for buying a pound of beans which tonight was Costa Rica. My husband is a tea drinker so Andrea also extended her knowledge of tea and made him a cup of whole leaf Masala Chai tea. As I stated, I have always loved Peets Coffee as it still brews a great cup of coffee and serves an awesome espresso plus KNOWS their coffee beans (unlike that "Green Apron" store that calls itself a coffee house) but add an expert Barista such as Andrea and yes THIS PLACE ROCKS! Peet's is great! I 100% prefer them over Starbucks and Coffee Bean. They have great vegan options through their alternative milk and clear labeling through the app. They also have a plant-based breakfast sandwich which I love! My only fuss about Peet's is that it's so expensive, but that really isn't a problem with them as it is the whole coffee scene in general. You can't get a good coffee anywhere for under 5$ nowadays!
