Today I went on my work break to pick up a mobile order (Horchata CB) around 10:00AM and the employee on bar was going above and beyond to accommodate everyone and making sure people were waiting as little as possible. Judging but all the customers in the lobby, she was BUSY. To top it all off she unfortunately had a disgruntled 'Karen' who was upset she kept changing her order and her drink wouldn't remain the same (?). She returned her drink and asked for a SPLASH of milk in her coffee and got the drink remade with a literally splash which wasn't good enough for her. The barista had every reason to be upset but she seemed to stay calm and continued with her workflow. Thank you for your hard work ladies, I'll be back :) Wish I had gotten the barista's name, it skipped my mind as I watched her hustle. read more

This place literally proved to me that I liked coffee, so what more can I say? Everyone on staff is always super nice and bears the weight of customer service with humor and cheer. The bran muffins are my favorite snack, although the breakfast sandwiches are pretty great too. They have yummy rotating drinks and carry almost every milk substitute. I have worked across the street from this Peet's for the past three years. I was a new Peet's customer when I first moved to Ventura County, and I must say that I am now a dyed-in-wool Peetnik. The staff is always friendly, informative, helpful, and accommodating. Monique is the manager, and she and her entire staff always make me feel like I'm part of the family here. As for the coffee - Peet's is the best! The service might be a little slower than at other coffee places, but that is because the lattes are made with care. I am only sorry that I am now in the process of looking for another job and most likely will not find a Peet's close by. read more

After my second time visiting Peet's Coffee and Tea I felt compelled to write a review. The staff they hire are untrained or unwilling to properly manage their queues of online orders and in-person orders. Twice now I have walked in without placing an online order only to watch a revolving door of patrons come in after and be served before me while waiting for up to 20 minutes. My wife has experienced the same issue as well. This poor level of customer service is completely unacceptable. Additionally, on my most recent visit I ordered a gift card and was told by the rude barista they do not have gift card sleeves and offered me a brown pastry bag. I vote with my dollars and Peet's will never get another dime from me again. Competitors like Starbucks, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and dare I say.... McDonalds, all have much better tasting coffee at a more reasonable price. At any of the other establishments, I can walk-in without an online order and leave with coffee in-hand in 5-10 minutes or less. I feel sorry for any customers that continue to pay for their untimely, overpriced, and bad-tasting products. read more

This Ventura store also sells fresh roasted beans, and coffee making equipment. Taking a moment to give credit where credit is due. First off, I've never had an unpleasant experience at this location, it's always good but today was above and beyond. The girl behind the cappuccino machine smiled and apologized for my excruciating 30 second wait and then guy at the register informs me that their credit card machine is not working and he can only accept cash. Well, I just don't carry cash. Defeated, I'm about to walk away and he says, "you know what, it's on me." He turned a bad situation into an opportunity to "wow" a customer. HORRIBLE service. Go to another coffee house!! Don't say I didn't warn you! My 25% off was not able to be applied on my pound coffee purchase because "she didn't know why" yes that's really the explanation she gave me!! she couldn't tell me but maybe if I called they could do something about it she didn't know, but I could try, I guess. As if she couldn't override the discount, due to a system error! But anyways since I drove a ways I decided to purchase my pound of coffee anyways. My coffee order was WRONG and when I waited at least 5 minutes for them to even acknowledge I was standing there she came back and told me that they couldn't remake it because the syrup was all done and even though the barista told her it took a few minutes to remake she stood there and convinced him it was a 30 minute process and since they close at 430 and it was 402 of course she couldn't remake it. To make matters worse she added that my coffee was free anyways so no real loss right?! I'm sorry but it's free because I'm buying pounds of ground coffee, it's not free because she flagged me down and decided to give me a free cup of Joe! Don't go here, the employees are rude and obviously too lazy to help you with anything that past ringing you up. read more

I ended up trying one of the new honey fogs. I wanted to try the honey fog cold brew and instead I got the honey fog tea. I tried the drink and it was sooo sweet I couldn't drink it. The barista was so sweet (no pun intended) and remade the drink. She apologized that there was a mix up (I guess the baristas learned about the drink menu the day before). Any coffee shop with the name Peet's is my favorite. This location is close to my mom's place so I can grab a piping hot Major Dickason's if necessary. I've got mom hooked on the bold and smooth coffee Peet's produces so I don't usually have to stop here....but every once on a while I'll try the seasonal favorite. On this day it was Peppermint Mocha....which was deliciously peppermint "cool" and hot. I wouldn't have this everyday, but certainly as a treat on a cold morning or late day (decaf please). I can always count on the Peet's shop to fulfill my olfactory senses with the rich scent of freshly brewed coffee...who doesn't love the smell of fresh brew particularly when that aroma isn't laden with the putrid scent of burnt and over roasted coffee beans (ahem, that's you S-bucks!) Peet's you're my hero and I'm a proud 10+ year Peetnik. Roast on! read more

Great staff! I love watching the staff interact with all customers but also how they are so kind to ALL and not just their regulars (which are a lot). I don't get to go in often but when I do they are ALWAYS smiling and working hard to get our orders out quickly. Give them a go, it's a total different experience then any other chain coffee house. I wish everyday was National Coffee Day! They had a promotion going on for buying a pastry snack and you'd get a small cup of coffee for free. I had to get my cup of joe and I've never had Peet's! I've definitely been missing out on great coffee. I was having a hard time trying to pick out a pastry and I asked the barista if she'd recommend the pumpkin chocolate cake. She said that it's good and it's a seasonal item. Since it's fall now I love pumpkin so I was definitely sold. The texture was nice and moist and in the middle was the chocolate marble around the pumpkin bread. I only could eat half of the cake, but it was a nice light snack. It cost $2.75 for a since of cake and it goes great with my coffee. Make sure you take some time to treat yourself today! =) read more

Over the years with the changing staff I notice that everyone who works here is genuinely pleasant. I have been a loyal customer for over 7 years. Sara/Zen and Lauren have always been amazing and I love their recommendations on adding their own personal touch. They never let me down. And have never been rude or disrespectful in anyway. I'm sadded that a grown man 'Kevin' has taken it upon himself to personally belittle and bully the employees. And has also gotten numerous people to join his silly bag wagon on bullying these individuals who have served our community with the up most respect. Simply because he was asked to wear a mask during these HardTimes. Also the entire situation didn't happen as he mentioned they politely asked that he wear a mask and threw an adult fit. During my 7 years of employment at Persnickety cleaners I've seen Kevin come and go daily using peet's as his own personal office with the free wifi. I've also seen him get into numerous altercations. So please don't use his silly adult tantrum as a reliable reference to this amazing establishment. read more

I love downtown Ventura. I live in the area and I used to work in the area. I would walk to work and stop into one of the few coffee shops downtown. Life was fine. I recently got a job on the East side of Ventura. Although I love the job, I was less than thrilled with the location and with the necessity of driving to work every morning. Why have I rambled on about these mundane details of my life to people I don't know and will probably never meet? Because Peet's is located about 4 blocks from my new job, and has made the transition not only smooth, but joyful. I love getting up in the morning knowing that within the hour I will have a hot cup of Peet's coffee to warm my hands (and, well, my heart). The people who work there somehow balance knowledge of (and passion for) coffee with customer service that seems to come from a place of genuine kindness and pride in their work. Their brewed coffee is always fresh. Although I am partial to their French and Italian roasts, I enjoy tasting everything they brew because they actually have distinctive flavors. Excellent coffee shop, conveniently located. I've been a fan of Peet's coffee since my teenage years in the Bay Area, and it's still good stuff. I met up with a friend for a post-running treat, and enjoyed a fabulous pumpkin latte while we sat outside on a nice bench for a chat. The staff were very friendly and chatty and the latte was scrumptious. I coveted a number of items that I saw for sale, especially some almost Byzantine-looking winter holiday ceramic mugs. I almost bought some Arabian Mocha Sanani beans, for old times' sake, but forebore since we have plenty of other beans at home right now. I do love their Major Dickason's Blend for making Irish Coffees in the wintertime, so I'll likely be back fairly soon to stock up. read more

I have been a loyal peetnik since 1972. In addition to great tasting coffee beans and drinks, Peets has very knowledgeable barristas to help you with just about anything to do with coffee. They take customer service seriously, and provide it in a relaxed, friendly manner. There seems to be a higher employee turnover here than other Peet's I've visited, but even so, the employees are always well-trained and competent. I normally swing by the Peet's store in Thousand Oaks to get my daily dose of caffeine. Like most people who visit Peet's, I like my drink made a certain way. The Peet's in Thousand Oaks makes my drink just the way I like it, about 95% of the time. Considering how frequently they change baristas, that's pretty good quality control. About a week ago, I happened to be in Ventura and decided to swing by Peet's on S. Victoria Ave. I provided the barista with my order and assumed that everything was kosher. Unfortunately I did not taste my drink until after I had already driven home. Needless to say, it fell way short of what I had expected. What really stood out was the amount of sugar in there when I had asked for no simple syrup and half the amount of spicy chocolate syrup! To give the mocha additional rich flavor and to tone down the sugar, I had asked for 3 scoops of Dutch cocoa powder instead. The Dutch powder was missing. In short, my Mayan Mocha had turned into a very sweet espresso drink. I could have brewed a pot of coffee and added cream and sugar to it to get the same effect. Not the experience I was looking for! Just a side note: I have been to the Ventura store a few times in the past and depending on the barista working that particular day, I would get the drink I had ordered (plus) OR the barista would get real creative and I ended up with a "surprise!" (minus) For this most recent visit I would rate the store a two-star. However, to be fair to the other baristas, I would give the store an overall rating of three stars. read more

I love thte tea offered by Peet's, but I prefer to buy a tin and make it at home. I have gotten two cups of tea made to go, and both times I had a bitter tea experience. The water used to seep the tea was WAY too hot and burnt the leaves. I'm debating next time to ask for a cup of hot water and the tea seperately. I'm no tea snob, but the water temp is key to a good cup of tea and I know they offer great teas becasue I use it at home with great results. read more
