    The Fish House Tacos
    Reese S.

What an absolute gem of a find. The outdoor patio is gorgeous overlooking boating docs with a great breeze! The staff is friendly and gave the best recommendations for lunch. The fish tacos were my favorite dish today. Spicy, great texture, loved the balanced favors and elements of the dish. The Shrimp and Grits were also lovely, the shrimp were extremely fresh. I'd come back here hands down for the outdoor patio && the fish tacos!

The tuna looks different from the last time I went. Still delicious. Service here is spectacular. Fish is fresh. It's always lovely but quiet inside. I had a graduation dinner here and it was amazing. The fish tank in the middle of the restaurant is super clean and eye catching.

Had a little bit of a wait which I would probably expect for a Saturday night. Manages to snag an outside seat. Started with dried grouper bites, the fry was good and light. The stuffed flounder was cooked well the rice was a little off, too much extra chucks of veggies or something which was off putting. The grilled grouper serving felt small for $40, but it was cooked and seasoned well. The potatoes were yummy, felt there was more potato than the serving of fish. I enjoyed the creme brulee, it was a normal vanilla bean flavor with a strong sugar crust. The Gouda grits were nice too, good flavors all well cooked. Perfect Saturday evening spent with good food and service.

We started off with sushi (Tiger and Volcano) and it was yummy! Then, I ordered " Pecan-Crusted Catfish" and my husband ordered "World-Famous Grits à Ya Ya." Loved the sushi and my husband's meal. He those shrimp are some of the best he has ever had! I however, did not like the brown butter sauce the put on my fried catfish... tasted weird and made my fish crust soggy and was all in my delicious Gouda grits. The catfish needed to be cooked a little more. I had the green beans swapped for their hush puppies and that was an awesome choice. Restaurant had a huge patio area that was perfect for a late lunch/ early dinner and our server (Anthony) was great.

We came in on Saturday for dinner and thought we beat the crowd but forgot about graduations!!!! We had a hour wait but it was well worth it. Once we were seated, our server Rick was right there. He is pretty funny so ask for Rick on the weekends. He gave us some great ideas and we went with what he suggested. We had the Grits A Ya Ya and the Catfish Meuniere. The grits were probably some of the best we have had. They were creamy, smooth and cheesy all at the same time. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and made that dish rock. The catfish had a pecan crust and the sauce that was over it made it an amazing dish. For dessert, we had an amazing bread pudding and key lime pie. The only this about the desserts that need correcting is the green sauce on the key lime pie. It doesn't do anything for the pie . The manager Dean came over and apologized for the delay in getting our meals and we really appreciated that. He was really nice and made up for our delay in dinner. We will definitely be back and the views help make the dining experience even better.

If Poseidon ever opened a restaurant, I imagine it would look a lot like The Fish House in Pensacola -- coastal, classy, and the kind of place where the cocktails arrive looking like they've been to finishing school. We went for lunch and grabbed a table outside, because why sit indoors when you can bask in that bayside glow and pretend you're in a Visit Florida commercial? You walk in expecting fish (it's literally in the name), but somehow I ended up being lured -- talked into, really -- ordering the Five Sisters Fried Chicken, which came with the bold promise of being "the best fried chicken ever." Listen... I love confidence. Truly. But calling it the best ever is like calling me the next quarterback for the Saints. Optimistic? Yes. Accurate? Absolutely not. Don't get me wrong -- the chicken was good. It was tasty. It was tender. The kind of fried chicken that makes you nod and say, "Yeah, that's nice." But the bottom was a little soggy, like it briefly thought about becoming a biscuit and then abandoned the mission halfway. Best ever? Not today. Now -- the shrimp cocktails? Excellent. Cold, snappy, and fresh enough that I felt the need to apologize to the Gulf. And the outdoor environment? Stunning. Breezy, bright, and basically crafted for people who want to casually drop "We lunched waterfront today" into conversations. And then, as if the universe wanted to remind us that Pensacola loves a good moment, we were buzzed by a Blue Angels flyover. I don't care who you are -- that instantly elevates any lunch. It's like Mother Nature and the U.S. Navy teamed up to give us a standing ovation. Overall? Fantastic shrimp, beautiful setting, solid lunch all around -- just not the fried-chicken spiritual awakening I was promised. Four stars. Would happily return... and next time, I'm letting the fish be the star.

Didn't realize I had eaten here before until I sat down to write this review... apparently, this is my second time. This spot is unassuming -- almost deceiving based on appearances -- but don't judge a book by its cover. The food is GOOD. For example, the chicken tenders are seasoned to perfection. You can tell the marinade wasn't rushed. Flavor all the way through, not just on the surface. You will not go wrong with the Grits YaYa. Looking back at my previous review, I ordered it last time too. Normally I'd try something different, but I'm not even mad that I circled back for the same dish. That says a lot. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the boat dock and the Bay Bridge -- a nice view whether you're with family or on a date night. Definitely add this one to the list.

We wanted to give a shoutout to Ricky at Fish House for the awesome service he gave us during our visit to Pensacola. We even talked to the manager, Nick, because we felt like Ricky deserved to be recognized. Ricky made the whole experience feel comfortable and genuine from the start. He was able to talk with my family in both Spanish and English, which honestly made everyone feel welcomed and included. He's very personable and easy to talk to, and you can tell he enjoys what he does. One thing we really appreciated was how attentive he was without being overbearing. He checked on us at all the right times, made sure everything was good, and never made us feel rushed or interrupted while we were enjoying our meal. He's also really knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations whenever we had questions. We've had Ricky as our server before, and he's honestly one of the reasons we keep coming back. The food is always delicious, but having great service like that makes the experience even better. Fish House is lucky to have someone like Ricky on the team.

I was so skeptical coming here. I thought it would be another average waterfront restaurant. Boy, was I wrong. The hot collard dip, shrimp and grits, and catfish meniere were top tier. Excellent service and location, as the back of the restaurant overlooks the bay. I will absolutely be back next time I'm in Pensacola!

The food is absolutlety amazing, I have been here several time. Only thing I didn't like about is you can't make reservations or get on the waiting list. Let me tell you Abbey C was absolutely amazing she has been the best server I have ever had at any restaurant. She was kind, respectful, kept our drink full checked on us all the time. I couldn't have asked for a better waitress. Keep up the great work it doesn't go unnoticed!!!

There is a private dining room that I presume can be reserved for groups, an open air dining room that looks onto a bar with a large pizza oven down at the end by the kitchen. There is also, separately, a craft beer bar room. All of this is accessible from the main entry point, as well as the main store with gourmet food, a cheese cooler, and of course aisles and aisles of wine. My review is only for the lunch pasta which I enjoyed in the main dining area of the store, but the space does deserve a special mention. If you are into wine, what a great way to try some new ones and pick up your own bottle or two to take home! I had the flat noodle pasta with egg yolk sauce, served with a piece of blackened chicken and crusty end of bread. All of it was somewhere between just OK (the chicken and sauce) and good (the bread and noodles). The chicken was very salty (which I like) but you can't undo seasoning if you like less salt in your diet. The table did not not have salt/pepper shakers, nor were they offered. I thought this dish should come with fresh shaved parmesan and/or fresh cracked pepper, but it did not. I think these would have been welcome improvements. Service was fast and friendly, and the staff seem to have a nice demeanor and tempo. Everything was very clean, and the water was fresh and served in a real glass. Once ordered, my food came out of the kitchen in just a few minutes. There was a surprise 3.5% "operational costs" charge on my bill that was not announced on the menu nor was it a credit card fee since no cash discount was offered. I can only assume it's just a way to tack on a few pennies. Overall, as a non-wine-drinker (at lunch), and based solely on the pasta dish that I tried, I have to say it was OK. Some of the salads and small plates sounded very good, and if I go back I will definitely be trying something different. Overall, a decent variety of options (including pizza and burgers) so this could be a nice spot for a work group on their lunch break.

This is complimented by the large, striking art pieces that occupy the entire wall along the north side of the store. And I'm declaring right now the lovely patio area to be one of the most, if not the most, delightful al fresco dining venues in Pensacola. And right now in early May, the patio is graced with the lovely fragrance of the blooming jasmine vines that adorn the trellises of the patio. Though most of the wines on EHWB's list are unfamiliar to me our lovely, efficient, and attentive server, Nadia, was quite knowledgeable and able to steer us to exactly what we were looking for to accompany the Muffuletta we had our sights on. The list consists of a nice variety of moderately priced wines. And at lunch, there are several wines offered at half off per glass. As we're old timers we shared a half Muffuletta. We could have shared a quarter. LOL. It is large. It is served on a bun that looks like a Gambino's, and may be. The bun seemed rather dry to us, not perfectly fresh, but nonetheless the sandwich was quite good. Loaded with all the traditional ingredients and very enjoyable. Would definitely do again, though for next week we've got the Cuban Press locked in on our radar screen. There are several things on the dinner menu here that are calling out to us so we very well work an evening visit in while here. I'm saying this store is going to a winner and a mighty fine replacement and more here in East Hill for City Grocery.

Eventually, another server noticed my frustration and asked if I needed anything. I told him I needed a box and my check and explained that my server had never returned to check on me. His response was, "We are all working the bar." That response was unnecessary and dismissive. If everyone was working the bar, it makes it even more confusing that I sat there for so long without anyone checking on me. A simple, "I'm sorry about that. Let me take care of you," would have been the appropriate response. I understand restaurants get busy, and I don't expect perfection. However, basic attentiveness and customer service should be expected, especially when a customer is sitting directly at the bar. Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing.
