OK, I know I'm wearing out my welcome here on Yelp commenting on OEHG. But I haveta add this. We're native Pensacolians and we visit twice a year. We often spend a couple weeks on Perdido Key before coming into town for a week or two. Our go to joint for "The Best Fried Shrimp in the Entire Civilized World" for years has been out here in OBA. Today we were in town for some shopping and dropped in to OEHG for our fried mullet fix. But on a whim we added six fried shrimp to the order. On my great grannies knickers! Are you kidding me? We now have us here in PNS a "Best Fried Shrimp in, Like, the Entire Known Universe". (Granted we don't know what they got going on up on Mars yet but Elon will let us know). These fried shrimp are off the chain. Uber crisp, perfectly cooked, amazingly spiced batter. These are the cat's pajamas of fried shrimp! Y'all gotta have this in your life. Today, we came here to get the seafood gumbo for lunch after our trip to the beach. Do not get their seafood gumbo. it's horrible! we spent nearly $50. on 2 qts of some slimy soupy disgusting brown slush. the rice they gave us was under cooked and crunchy. you had to search in the brown slime to find hardly any seafood. supposedly there was some okra in it, you could find a few bits of that. I guarantee there wasn't enough okra to make that mess slimy. I've had the seafood gumbo from Joe Patty seafood restaurant and there is no comparison. That is why we thought we would give this place a chance. Maybe the other food is eatable, can't speak to that. Also, they charge a $4, service charge, we preferred to leave a cash tip in the jar at the register instead of on the CC. Did not expect the service charge, maybe it's written somewhere. If the food hadn't been so disappointing and expensive, we wouldn't have been so offended. Maybe if we had gotten fried fish maybe our review would not be so bad. What happened to this place . Hopefully it was just not a greatest day. Redfish was terrible rubber and breading was too thing and hard I couldn't eat it. We came in I saw someone had onion rings they was big and look good's I ordered and mine came like onion straws button of the bag. Bits and pieces and breading was also too hard. Stopped on a recommendation from a local bartender, and he did not steer us wrong! Made a day trip just to eat and shop, and it will be our go to from now on. So nice to be out of the tourist traps, and the food was spot on. We ordered the fried mushrooms, Parmesan oysters, fried grouper, fried shrimp and cheese grits. It was a fried kind of day, but glad to see they also offer grilled and blackened, thanks to the amazing fish market attached. The seafood was so fresh. Especially the oysters. They popped just the way you know they are fresh. Can't wait to come back when I get restless in South Alabama for some good seafood! Oh! And the grits! Excellent food. I'm a Pensacola native and we love to visit our old favorites that are still around whenever we visit. I can't believe we had never tried Maria's or this restaurant before. This has become a new favorite! I have to eat gluten free and the staff was knowledgeable and made recommendations. I had grilled shrimp with cheese grits and collard greens and it was fantastic. Seriously perfect cheese grits and the best collard greens I've ever had in a restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Expanded from Maria's seafood market in 2019, this casual style restaurant has the freshest fish options with a full service bar (also great for lunch takeout). I walked in and immediately friendly faces- all locals. Several of them pointing me to an open table after I gawked at the specials for 5 min before finally ordering a beer to sip while I decided. It was packed around lunchtime and everywhere I looked, Pensacola natives. They know where to get the good stuff. Started off with the classic fried pickles, and also got my favorite Rockefeller oysters. Exceptional service. They definitely put some Cajun seasoning on those oysters. My friend let me try his shrimp- blown away by the freshness. All very affordable too. With its seafood market 5 steps from the dining room they've got mullet, live lobster, and even frog legs that normally aren't found in high traffic tourist areas here. Just an all around solid seafood spot that I have driven past so many times. Definitely give it a try! The restaurant entrance is through the back parking lot! read more

East Hill Grille is one of my favorite spots for lunch or dinner. The food is always fresh and delicious. The staff is always lovely to interact with. The atmosphere is genuine and quite nice. Many locals know of this place. I am so grateful I live pretty close to it. I think it is a 5 star rating always. The nice thing is you get 5 star food always but you don't have to totally " dress up" for it The staff goes above and beyond for all of their guests. read more

Clean restaurant with cool attentive staff is always a plus. However, I don't like comparing restaurants but a friend kept telling me to try this spot out because I kept saying how good Fam Ty's was so me loving good food went. Food looked great and tasted good but it's like comparing apples to oranges. Which is why I don't generally like when people hype up others which I guess is what I'm doing. The food is tasty and I will go again if I want some good fish on a Sunday. Simply put Fam Ty's doesn't open on weekends because they're usually catering an event. I wanted to try a new place during my work travel and do to the reviews I ended up here. Parked and walked in to a great potted fresh seafood market. I wish I brought a cooler. Once ordering and sitting at the bar I received my oysters. Although I could tell that had been shucked for a little bit, they tasted great. Their cocktail you can tell is homemade. The shrimp PoBoy had almost a soft sweet roll type flavor. Different but good! I highly recommend and will be back to taste other menu items. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Best Parma broiled oysters in Pirate'cola! Attached to Maria's wholesale seafood shop you can find a cute little seafood cafe tucked right in back. It's a casual "walk up & order" kind of place, super cute in a nautical theme. All the seafood here is super fresh & the place is super clean. They also proudly serve community ice tea with fresh lemon. Moi will drive across town for an ice tea to go from here, just because they have fresh lemon. This exceptionally sweet LOCAL business basically supplies most of the restaurants around Pensacola with their fresh seafood catch. We really enjoy the local Grouper nuggets/Po'boy's & especially the Parma broiled oysters. The PARMA broiled oysters here are fresh shucked & topped with a very nice buttery bread crumb topping served with a lovely garlic butter sauce. Hubby LOVES their garlic butter sauce :).. The service was kind and fast and the food was so good. I got a bowl of shrimp creole, half dozen raw oysters. My son had the grill cheese and my fiance had the fried flounder w baked beans and cole slaw. My son did say his fries were "pointless without the ketchup", but he's 10 so take that with a grain of salt. They have Mich Ultra in the bottle. My fiance would want me to throw that in there for the guys. read more

What a great find in older part of Pensacola. Don't walk but run to this gem of a place! When you walk in on the market side keep going till you hit the restaurant. You'll find it full of locals which is a great sign. Fresh seafood restaurant next to the fish market. Blackened juicy gulf shrimp platter with the best cheese grits and greens I had all week. It's kind of a hole in the wall, attached to a fresh seafood market, but don't let the appearance fool you. I'm glad we stumbled across this hidden gem!! It's located right next to Maria's seafood so you know everything they serve will be fresh. The special of the day was the strawberry grouper. It was so good! It was grilled and I squeezed on some lemon juice. I chose cheese grits while hubby chose onion rings for our sides. Both were fantastic. The strawberry grouper also came with 2 hush puppies which were delicious!! You order at the counter and they give you a number so they know where to bring out your food. This review is based on only one visit but we won't be returning. To be fair, you should try it for yourself & maybe you'll have a better experience. For us, there are too many better seafood restaurants in the area. The blackened grouper I had was ok but small serving for the price. My spouse's grouper sandwich wasn't good. It was under-seasoned & a bit past fresh as was the bread it was on. The slaw had pickles in it which was weird to us & the cheese grits were too thick with a fake cheese taste. Big chanks of cheap whitish lettuce, two slices of unripe tomatoes, and two tiny slices of onion! In Florida! At summer! "Salad" was not even mixed together. The Old East Hill Grill is a neat place located in Maria's Seafood. The food is great and the people very friendly.

The food was fabulous, I had the combination of 2, grouper and jumbo shrimp. The grouper was thick and cooked to perfection. I ordered onion rings to go with and it was a huge plate. Could've fed 4 people. Service was excellent and I sat at the bar. The place was packed but not crowded out. So the overall experience was 5 stars for this perfect local grill. My office which is located downtown decided to get lunch form this place. My co-worker called in the order, and I was the runner. I arrive to pick up the order. We were not aware that they charge an upcharge for some reason. I get back to the office, and one of my co-workers was missing an item. We called the restaurant to let them know, and all the man said was "sorry". Not one mention of making it right, the next time, nor did he offer for the missing item to be picked up. Our office normally orders from another seafood restaurant, but they were closed on Monday. The food was just ok; the fish was not fully cooked.
