I would take my daughter to a prep course in this neighborhood for the past month every Sunday and I didn't know where to go for the 1.5 hours that I needed to wait for the class to end. So I walked around and came across this diner. The waitress sat me down as soon as I walked in and took my order immediately. I asked for freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. It went wonderfully well my order of eggs with kale. I have to say that the best dish that I absolutely there was the Greek Beeny which was Benedict eggs on muffins and a homemade hash brown. I loved the fresh ingredients and that it came out steamy. I no longer go all the way out there on Sundays but would like to go back at be day for brunch with my family.

4 stars plus! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place, good service our server was nice, food is excellent, prices are fair, it's clean and bean in the Bay Ridge neighborhood for years[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They have an extensive menu and specials. You can have brunch as well and the menu should satisfy everyone. We had the Peaches and Cream French toast and also the blueberry pancakes with eggs. The French toast was made with challah bread. It's a light meal and the French toast is a little on the small side. I would have like to if the portion was a little larger.It was made well and was tasty. The blueberry pancakes were the star of the show. I am not a huge pancake person although I felt these were among the best I've had. If you come here on the weekend plan to have a wait of usually around 30 minutes. I would recommend them for breakfast or lunch and will be back.

Best breakfast and brunch & fresh, tasty, and cozy! My husband and I have dined in and ordered delivery a few times from Pegasus. It's a small spot with seriously quality food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When the place fills up, they have booth seating which is nice and cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you want to avoid the crowd, try coming after 3 or 4 pm when it's quieter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their eggs Benedict is my go-to. I love it with a side salad and unlimited coffee refills (yes, please!). My husband swears by their burgers, and we're both big fans of the waffle fries. We've even made it a fun competition to compare burgers and fries with other local spots like Bayridge Diner and The Monk but Pegasus wins for quality every time. Heads up: If you order delivery too close to closing time, the packing can get a little messy. Sometimes fries come without ketchup or utensils, and the bread on the eggs Benedict can be a bit burnt. But I get it they're hustling to close up shop, so no stress. Plus, delivery usually comes straight from them, not a third party, which is a big plus. Tried the mimosa once & it's smaller than I expected, so probably a pass next time. No cash, just Venmo for payment. Delivery: 7/10 Dine-in: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Food: 15/10

Try as I might to find a place closer to our apartment that's as good or almost as good is just impossible and I'm going to give up trying. Pegasus is simply the best and today I made a new discovery. What is that, you may ask? The spinach salad with sweet bacon vinaigrette dressing. Oh my goodness. The salad was humongous and I pretty much finished every bite. This salad came with baby spinach, red onion, sweet red roasted peppers, feta and the most delicious hot sweet bacon vinaigrette that tied it all together perfectly. It was the winning combination of heat and sweet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pegasus can do no wrong in my eyes and I will gladly travel to Bay Ridge for the terrific food, awesome staff and the wonderful vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This morning was the third or fourth time we've been to Pegasus. I made sure to take plenty of photos. When we arrived, there was a 25 minute wait for a table. The 25 minute wait turned into about 10-15 minutes. That was lovely! We sat down, were handed menus and about 60 seconds later a very tall, professional lady with a definitive 'get-'er-done'-notion approached our table and asked if we needed a few minutes. Luckily, we did our homework, studied the menu prior to arrival and knew what to order: I ordered Avocado Toast, swap the salad out for House Homefries and a cup of Tea with cream g Sucralose (yesIknowitcancausecancerbutIdon'tuseitmuch) and my man ordered the Kickass Benedict with Coffee. We had about 20 minutes to sit and chitchat before the order was up. Very reasonable amount of time. I coated my House Homefries & Basted Eggs with some Salt & Black Pepper before digging in. Everything was very good, particularly the homefries. They use a bit of green bell pepper in their Homefries, which adds a great differential in flavor. The Avocado Toast - I wish I could be as exuberant with my opinion, but I just can't. The Avocado was super "skimpy". The slice of ciabatta bread that held the Avocado Toast as a 'foundation' was pretty long, and on this bread, there were, at the most, four 1/4" slices of Avocado. ... Umm...? Regardless, the eggs were eggs, and that was that. The Kickass Benedict - from the first visit to today's visit, this has been the ONLY dish my man has ordered and he's loved it every time. Today, I tasted the hollandaise sauce (that gets spooned over the poached eggs). I can tell you that it was definitely yummy BUT! If you can't handle some heat, this is NOT the dish for you. Wooooah baby!! I *think* the entire floor of the restaurant (excluding the guests seated at the bar) is handled by only 1 waitress (the uber-professional one), with another waitress handling only top-off's of beverages, but I could be wrong. Due to the understaffing, we waited about 15 minutes for someone to notice that we were finished, and that we were ready to have our plates removed. We waited another 15-20 minutes before we could grab the attention of someone to ask for our cheque. The total for everything was definitely reasonable. Luckily, we weren't in a rush. It was just a lot of time spent on "waiting". Overall, I'd NEVER rate this restaurant as anything negative. However, I can't say this establishment is "Stellar", either. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a beautiful restaurant that will supply an exquisite ambience during a 'better-than-average' meal, for a fair price. These are all GREAT attributes[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Frankly, I look for a little more than this, in a restaurant. Although I was not disappointed, I unfortunately was not impressed.

We came early in the morning and we were seated right away, but shortly after the restaurant got packed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have bar seating and booth seating. Booth seating is kind of small, but we were a group of 5 and we were able to sit comfortably[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Staff was nice and attentive. Food was delicious and we all enjoyed every bit of it. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs which was soo good. My friends ordered huevos rancheros and the breakfast burrito, which they thoroughly enjoyed. The pancakes were amazing, which we ordered to share amongst us. The pancakes were thick, and so fluffy. The food portions were a good size and we left feeling so full. We loved our meals, and want to come back again to try more stuff.

Tried the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs, Bananas Foster French Toast, and an Iced Cappuccino -- and everything was absolutely on point! We had to wait about 40 minutes to be seated, and the food took a little while to arrive. This place is always full, so I definitely recommend calling ahead to check availability or ask if they can hold a table. That said, the wait was 100% worth it. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. I went here for brunch at 11:30am. When I arrived, I had to give my name and phone number to the hostess. Hence, she called me when a table was available. She estimated it was going to be an hour wait. At noon, we were seated. This restaurant was quite busy. Moreover, there were three people I encountered. The waitress who took our orders. The busboy who delivered our drinks and he set up the table for us. Also, the hostess was the one who refilled my coffee cup. I ordered the Kick A** Benedict. It was different. Typically, it is served with English muffins. This dish had it with ciabatta bread instead. I wish the hollandaise sauce was spicer. The Benedict had a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. I expected "kick a**" to have a kick to it. It was quite mild. The hash brown was ok. I had to add salt and pepper to it. I would come back here to try other dishes. I want to see why this restaurant has such high ratings.

Pegasus is a place that gets everything right. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The kitchen is efficient, the atmosphere is welcoming, and you can feel the attention to detail this establishment puts into everything, down to the silverware (sturdy and feels good in your hand).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This family business understands proper hospitality. The menu is not overloaded with options but still provides a solid variety of choices. They stick to what they're good at and they succeed. I ordered the Kick A** Benedict and I was skeptical, but it delivered. The texture of the bread provided a light crunch and perfect mouth feel. The hollandaise sauce was unique and differentiated itself from other Benedicts, so the dish was far from boring. The pancakes were exactly what I look for in a pancake. Perfectly golden crispy outside, soft inside. Not much more to say than they got a simple classic just right. Wait was not too long as the staff here is efficient in serving and providing service. I look forward to my next visit at this authentic, local classic.

I usually go to Mike's Diner but wanted to change it up. The wait at Pegasus on a weekend morning wasn't too bad. We called in advance to put our name to the wait list. Those that asked for a table when they got there had to wait about 10-15 minutes is what I observed. I got the peaches and cream french toast. The flavors were nice but I was left pretty hungry after. I guess I wished there were combos or sides that came with my dish like Mike's Hungry Man Meal. My partner got the Kick Ass Benedict. It was a bit spicy but like its name, it was just a kick. My partner was also hungry after. I wouldn't come here again but the Christmas decorations and spirit/vibes were top tier. Everyone was coming in greeting each other, the bar seats was almost full as well. It was just bustling in there.

This place is hidden in Bay Ridge but offers an old school diner vibe that is super cute and cozy. The staff is super friendly and the food is well priced. 1. BANANAS FOSTER FRENCH TOAST (8/10): This was delicious. If you are feeling something sweet, I would definitely recommend this. It had really great toppings that paired well with the French toast. 2. TEX MEX BREAKFAST BURRITO (8/10): This was a solid choice. It was big and came with waffle fries. It was filling and they did not skip out on what is inside the burrito. 3.OMELETE (7/10); This tasted like a classic omelete. It was good but did not stand out that much. On the weekend there is usually a small wait but most of the time we are seated almost right away.

Extremely solid food. The menu is shorter than you'll see at most typical diners, but in addition to the standard lineup of eggs/omelettes/sandwiches/Greek dishes, there are some creative spins on classics like eggs Benedict, avocado toast and chicken-and-waffles. Everything tastes fresh and scratch-made. The place is small, and gets crowded on weekends, so be prepared to wait for a table. But the service is good, and the food comes out of the tiny kitchen fast and hot. Cash-only, which is kind of a bummer, but there's an ATM in back. read more

Visit Pegasus often typically for breakfast. Creative breakfast dishes. Really great food at a reasonable price. Always fresh and well seasoned. The only downsides are that it's "cash only" and it can get a little overcrowded, so we usually have to wait a while before being seated. However, it's worth the wait. read more

I guess the food is just alright. Nothing to get too excited about. They serve a decent breakfast but charge top dollar not just for that but for other things including their good but over priced coffee and muffins. Service seems good. Go to H and L Bagels Instead 2 blocks south for good coffee and muffins reasonably priced. This place is good in a pinch but there are so many other places to go for food in BayRidge that I would just as well pass on this one. It's all cash I was told about 5 years ago that they were looking to accept credit cards by the male owner after some renovations, 5 years hence... no renovations no credit cards. Why would they want ot change from an ALL CASH business. Are you listening IRS? Thanks read more

My husband and I visit weekly! The staff is friendly, especially Victor! He is fantastic! The service can vary depending on the server but overall I have no complaints. The food is delicious, especially the pancakes!!! My second favorite is the avocado on toast from the brunch menu. The coffee could be better. Now, allow me to impart some wisdom on those who choose to visit... - CASH ONLY - there are several ATMs nearby - THERE IS NO LIST, NO HOSTESS, NO INFORMING ANYONE! JUST GET IN LINE AND WAIT! If you see people standing outside the door, most likely they are waiting so please don't be rude and squeeze yourself inside and cut the line. NOT COOL. If you are unsure where the line begins, ask. - You don't need to stand in line to sit at the counter, if there is an open seat, it's yours! - Please be considerate of the staff and try not block the space between the counter and the display fridge. The easier the access for the staff, the quicker things move! Trust me, you want things moving or else you'll be waiting a while. - Please be considerate of fellow customers! Don't cram yourself or your party inside and keep the door open or literally have your behind in the faces of the nearby booths because you cant patiently wait outside and give people personal space. It's a small space, be mindful. Also, when you stand at the door and keep it open it lets all the cool air out during the summer or the cold air in during the winter. - Don't be scared of the long line! Came here for Sunday brunch and it was packed! They don't take reservations or put your name down so you will have to wait in line (first come first serve) for the next available seating. There is also counter seats which you can go in and see if there are any available. We ordered the chicken and waffle dish (moist chicken) and the peach and cream french toast (great Challah bread). Portions were pretty sizeable and we found ourselves pretty satiated. Only thing was that we asked for a top off on coffee and it took forever and we had to ask multiple servers. My boyfriend and I tried this place on a whim a few months ago as it is right down the street from his apartment and we've become regulars ever since. The service is always fantastic and the food is ALWAYS good. We've ordered many different things on the menu from the breakfast tacos, lemon ricotta waffle, avocado pesto smash, to a basic spinach and feta omelette and the food is consistently delicious every. time. The atmosphere is really cute too. On mornings we go out to breakfast we don't even talk about where we're going, we just turn out of his apartment and start walking here. Definitely a must try. Oh and always order a side of waffle fries, they're incredible. read more

I don't love going there to eat. BUT I LOVE THEIR DELIVERY! I ordered a ceasar salad wrap with fries and not only was it delicious, but they came super fast. I personally like their lunch options way better then their breakfast. And their takeout/delivery is great. That ceasar salad wrap will be my go-to from now on. And their fries are soooooooo good. read more

Not a fancy place but really good. Pros: really nice n friendly staff, food are great ( definitely try the bourbon French toast n egg a Benedict from the brunch menu). The Egg a Benedict has a great combination of toast, ham, egg and cheese... really amazing . Cons: cash only, relative small dinning area, might have ti wait Overall , worth coming here to try it. Took 30 mins before a staff asked us about our order. No water was ever offered to us. The wait staff also bumped the coffee in my hand was she was setting the orders down and left in a hurry. The food was average at best. Sorry Pegasus, you need to step it up. read more

I just happened upon this place while we were waiting to meet the broker before moving to Brooklyn. This is by far the best "breakfast" place in Bay Ridge. The omelette's are fresh and delicious, the pancakes are fluffy and light, the homemade challah french toast is to die for and I can't forget the spiced potatoes, they are by far the best I've had. They also offer freshly squeezed orange, grapefruit and even carrot juice. Freshly squeezed is so much better than any jar, can or carton of juice, you just feel better drinking it. The coffee is excellent and the service is quick and friendly. They only accept cash and the prices can't be beat. Actually if you get there before 11am, you can get eggs, toast, potatoes with coffee or tea and juice (not the freshly squeezed). Same thing goes for pancakes, french toast or any one of their omelette's. Please give this eatery a try, but I've only really had the breakfast. They do serve lunch and deliver. read more

I've been going to Pegasus, on and off, for over 15 years of eggs and homefries, milkshakes, greek salads, and gyros. The food was always standard diner fare but well prepared. Whatever Pegasus lacked in flavors, they made up for in service. The owners used to be really sweet people, whether at the diner or on the streets they never failed to grace us with a smile. I remember playing with their daughter at the diner when she was 8! She must be in her 20s now. Maybe years of hard work took its toll? I was at Pegasus with a friend and between the two of us we had three kids with us. It was around 11am on a weekday. The kids got somewhat rowdy. The littlest one was screeching and, admittedly, she was harsh on the ears. The owner yelled at us from across the diner -- "THAT CHILD HAS TO STOP YELLING WE CAN'T HEAR THE PHONES!!!" It's a damn diner dude, not a Michelin restaurant. If you have a problem come up to us in private and discuss it. Do not yell at me like you are doing me a favor by providing a service I am paying for. When our food was being served the owner was screaming at us to take hot plates off his hands. No problem, I'm more than willing to help, but don't raise your voice at me and don't make it sound like it is the customer's job to help you serve their food. Yelling at your customers? So unprofessional and rude. There are plenty of diners in Bay Ridge. read more

I've been living in Bay Ridge for almost a year now and I must say that this is my favorite place for breakfast. Sometimes it can be a bit crowded, especially on the weekends and the seating is limited, but the breakfast is worth the wait. My favorites are the banana nut pancakes, belgian waffles, and french toast. The home fries are great as well--flavorful and a little crisp--and taste even better with one of their amazing omelettes! Unfortunately, their other foods, like burgers and sandwiches, are pretty mediocre (In fact, I'd head over to Five Guys on 5th between 85th and 86th for a burger and fries) and can even be a bit too salty. But as far as breakfast goes, this place is cozy, affordable, and delicious. read more

Came here with a friend thanks to his kind words about this place. That was the last time I went anywhere based on his comments alone. Pegasus is a train wreck. Ok, they could be having an off day, but it was a terrible first impression. We came in the morning for our daily meal that is breakfast. Pardon me, but aside from a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice, I've completely forgotten what I've ordered. The reason? Their charred and burnt home fries. THE AUDACITY. These potatoes weren't just lightly browned, they looked like the carbonated gunk you scrap off the bottom of a grill. If they were busy that morning, I'd give them another chance. However, there were only two other tables with diners. DISGRACE, I tells ya! read more

Giving it a one due to service. I was eager to try the breakfast but walked in on a Thursday morning and the waitress ignored my table. She busied herself taking up dirty plates of other customers and orders from those who came in after us. Its not worth spending $20-30 to eat if you are disrespected and kept waiting when its not even busy. Maybe they are understaffed but politeness would have gone a long way. Just to update...I would head to Offshore Diner on 78th and 3rd. Better service and food. Also quiet atmosphere. read more

I read the reviews of this place before coming in; the food looked great so we decided to give it a shot. Walking in it looks like a regular small diner. I had the eggs Benedict. They were great. The hollandaise was very well seasoned and they use a different type of bread to substitute for the English muffin... it totally made a big and positive difference. My boyfriend had the chicken and waffles. The waffles were delicious and perfectly fluffy. The chicken was juicy and fresh. We will be back for sure! read more

Harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist. 3) Non-food contact surface improperly constructed. Unacceptable material used. Non-food contact surface or equipment improperly maintained and/or not properly sealed, raised, spaced or movable to allow accessibility for cleaning on all sides, above and underneath the unit. OKAY so- about the third violation, who gives a shit cause that's bound to happen. HOWEVER, ROACHES? dude I get this is NYC but cmon now, CLEARLY number two the cause of number one. Probably the best diner in Bay Ridge. Food is fresh and delicious and service is very friendly. I believe the couple who owns the place does the servicing and they are the nicest people. Best diner in Bay Ridge hands down! Yea, it's on the smaller side and yea you might have to wait a bit to get a seat, but what would you rather? Being seated quickly and being served awful food, or waiting a little while for something awesome? I'm going with the latter, and that's why I will always come back here. The homestyle French Toast is awesome, so are their pancakes and home fries. The fresh squeezed orange juice here is a must too. They also deliver- and their delivery is quite fast :) read more

My husband and I have lived in bayridge for 3 years now but have never once been inside this cozy breakfast spot. We are moving out in a month, but decided to give it a try this morning. We were blown away! It's a small spot that's true but they make up for it in homemade, delicious food! Price is great- service was stellar. We had a short wait but it was worth it! Cash only!!! After a long bike ride from the city to Bay Ridge, my friend suggested we meet at this place for brunch. It looks like a small, standard diner, but I think their food is a lot better and higher quality. The menu is very large and diner-like in the sense that you can get almost anything you want from a typical breakfast/lunch spot. The place was pretty packed when we walked in, but we luckily didn't have to wait for a table. The service was quick and attentive, especially since we kept needing a refill for water. The prices for the amount of food you get is incredible and the food hits the spot. It's no thrills or anything but you know what you're getting. Best diner in Brooklyn! The space isn't that big but it's perfect for a nice and intimate Sunday brunch. It's so easy to just walk or drive right past it, which is unfortunate. I couldn't decide if I wanted the french toast with bananas and walnuts or the pancakes with bananas and walnuts. Alas, I decided to go with the french toast because I feel like a REALLY GOOD one is hard to find nowadays. I went with the challah bread french toast with maple syrup and bananas and walnuts. It was amazing! Thick, soft slices of bread NOT drench in french toast was the way to go. The bananas went great with it as well. We also got fresh squeezed grapefruit juice which was so yummy and refreshing and it hit the spot. The curly fries were really good too, nice and crispy. We got american cheese with it, and I guess I should've known, but I just despise slices of cheese that's just melted on top of fries. Next time, I'll just get the regular, which is just as good. This place is awesome. Food is dang tasty and the service is good, too. The restaurant is pretty and really charming. It's a great diner. The only bad things are they don't do credit cars (you have to go to an ATM someplace), and if you have to wait (very likely 'cuz it's awesome and well known in the area), they don't really have a waiting room. You just have to stand in the doorway or on the street outside. read more

If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

We also had the fried soft shell crab sandwich with the side of Caesar salad. The sandwich was well balanced with the crunchy crab and herby aioli. The Caesar was light and refreshing. The fish and chips came with two fried filets of white fish and a basket of classic fries. The fish was lightly battered and flakey. The house made tartar sauce was a good complement to it. Going to Greenpoint Fish and Lobster on a weekend is truly a mission. If you don't have a reservation chances are you'll be waiting around for a long time. They estimated 30min wait and it turned out to be over an hour. Once we were seated, we ordered right away having had time to look at the menu while waiting. Crudo, dozen of oysters, clam chowder + lobster roll. - Crudo was a bit sad with 6 pieces of fish lying on a big plate with an insane amount of salt flakes. It was fresh but don't think it's worth ordering. - East coast oysters were puny. Very mid especially because I've recently tried some at Upstate that were amazing. They're incomparable. - Lobster roll. Okay should've just gone straight for the roll because it was perfect. Buttery and fresh with perfect balance of lobster roll bread. The salad dressing also was delicious. So good! Definitely highlight of this restaurant. - Clam chowder. Also 10/10. Hearty, flavorful. Loved every bite of it. Service was average. They weren't profoundly interested in giving best service instead just chatting amongst each other and dropping off plates. Also they forgot about the clam chowder we ordered and asked if we still want it.. YES..that's why we ordered it. Overall if you don't pay attention to those details it's worth coming for some great seafood. BUT I highly recommend getting a reservation.

I had a very disappointing experience here. I arrived, checked in, and was told there would be a wait to be seated. I waited patiently, only to notice that other guests who arrived after me were being seated first. What made it worse was overhearing staff mention prioritizing another guest -- despite me being there earlier. This occurred on Mother's Day of all days! It was incredibly frustrating to realize I was being overlooked without any explanation. Whether it was favoritism or just poor management, it's unacceptable to treat paying customers this way. Everyone deserves to be treated with fairness and respect. I won't be coming back, and I hope this place seriously reconsiders how it manages its seating process. read more

I took my son out for a Saturday brunch at this place after reading all these great reviews on yelp. We were very disappointed. The waiter was very slow to come to our table. In fact, he finally came after I personally got off my seat and called his attention. He finally took our order and did it with a sour face. The food was mediocre. Nothing to write home about. Actually it was king of greasy. My seating bench kept moving every time the person behind me moved forward or backwards. It was very annoying and added insult to injury. This place is definitely not worth the hassle, or the long wait in line. We will NOT be returning. read more

Today was my first time ordering from here. Although I waited over an hour for my order, the food was excellent. I had pancakes with berries, bananas, and a side of bacon, and everything was delicious. One quick note: they only accept cash, which was the only downside.
