This is a true South Bend gem. We had bruch here and go figure Pegg actually was the one who took care of our crew. We had 12 and they found room for us on a busy day. Once we were seated the staff took so great care of us. We lacked for nothing and they were so friendly. The food was great. I had an omelette and fruit and it was awesome. Pegg's is a great spot for breakfast / brunch or lunch. The location recently expanded and now has a grab and go case along with a larger coffee / juice bar with a few seats at the counter. The chicken and waffles is my husband's go to, but our last visit was during restaurant week and he couldn't resist the chorizo benedict. I went with the egg white wrap, along off the restaurant week menu. My only criticism is that I would order the hash browns extra crispy next time. We love that they leave a carafe of water on the table along with shared or individual coffee carafes...no waiting for refills! Pegg's is a great, locally owned go to spot! read more

Let me start out by saying that the people are SO friendly. The location is great too, with nice outdoor seating which is hard to come by in south bend. The food however was just average, if not even a little dry and under seasoned. O The prices were good, and I was especially impressed with the kids menu! Brunch today was perfect! For real, there's not one thing I'd change. I'm on crutches and they put us at a corner table in a sensible area, without us even having to ask. (It's the little things like this that make such an impact on an experience.) Aside from that, we had some of the best service we have ever had as a family!! Kaitlyn took great care of us. She was so friendly and attentive, on top of everything, and super knowledgeable about the menu and my gluten free options. The food was delicious! The service at Peggs is amazing. The owner comes out and greets people, buses tables when needed and talks to everyone. I honestly don't even need that kind of attention, but it's nice to see that type of hands-on service at a restaurant. Our food was great, but if I had one suggestion for Peggs, it's that they should invest in smaller plates, because their serving sizes are small, and they have huge plates, which makes their food look even smaller. I honestly think that they serve a decent amount of food, and I'm glad they serve the amount that they do. I left feeling perfectly satisfied. I got a hamburger, and it was cooked to perfection. Peggs is hella busy on the weekends -- we had to wait about 15 minutes to get a table. But once we got a table, we got our food quickly. read more

What a horribly ran restaurant. No communication with customers. We came in with 10 people and were given the run around about ordering. We waited 40 minutes and still had not gotten our order taken Not even a manager could come over and let us know what was going on. I had avocado toast and though the avocado spread had oxidized (turned brown) it was delicious with 2 PERFECT sunny side up eggs. Very tasty. My family walked into a warm and buzzing atmosphere and was greeted happily by one of the owners and several staff. And the food was spectacular. I had the platter while my sister had the tacos. Had a Monte Cristo here and I was impressed! Never really had one before but I loved the balance of savory and sweet in the dish. The ligonberry sauce and icing sugar cut the saltiness of the cheese and ham really well. The bread was also cooked perfectly until golden! I enjoyed every bite of it. This is a great local diner type restaurant for breakfast and lunch. It's a very casual place. There can be a long wait because it's good, but it tends to move pretty fast. It's very clean as far as I can see and all the staff are very polite and helpful. They do some solid Benedict's and have fresh squeezed orange juice so I'm always happy. One of my kids loves the kids cheesy macaroni which is like a penne smothered in cheese sauce, it's fire. I grabbed a table inside, they have a big sunny space that can spread the tables out a bit. I had the avocado toast. I would say it was OK - it could have been a bit more elevated with more of a texas size toast slices and more avocado. The portion was reasonable (I don't need a three egg monstrosity like some places serve). They also have a nice patio for outside seating. Definitely a good bet in downtown South Bend. read more

They're trying to be upscale but they're not. $5 for a paper thin slice of ham is ridiculous. Very bland and generic food yet they're charging like it's a 5 star resultant. The coffee even tasted horrible. You'll have better tasting food and it'll be cheaper if you just buy and make it yourself. And you won't have to wait 45 minutes before you eat! read more
