This is a great local diner type restaurant for breakfast and lunch. It's a very casual place. There can be a long wait because it's good, but it tends to move pretty fast. It's very clean as far as I can see and all the staff are very polite and helpful. They do some solid Benedict's and have fresh squeezed orange juice so I'm always happy. One of my kids loves the kids cheesy macaroni which is like a penne smothered in cheese sauce, it's fire. Have been several times now with large and small groups and haven't had a single complaint about anything. read more

This is a true South Bend gem. We had bruch here and go figure Pegg actually was the one who took care of our crew. We had 12 and they found room for us on a busy day. Once we were seated the staff took so great care of us. We lacked for nothing and they were so friendly. The food was great. I had an omelette and fruit and it was awesome. I could drone on but this is a place you should make sure to visit. It's a great small business that knows how to treat customers like royalty. read more

Food was very mediocre. Haven't been there in a long time, but it used to be good. Had the avocado toast and it was super bland. Everyone else in my party said their food was just ok (pancakes, etc). Too bad, Pegg's has been a South Bend staple for a long time. Server was nice. read more

Pegg's is a great spot for breakfast / brunch or lunch. The location recently expanded and now has a grab and go case along with a larger coffee / juice bar with a few seats at the counter. The chicken and waffles is my husband's go to, but our last visit was during restaurant week and he couldn't resist the chorizo benedict. I went with the egg white wrap, along off the restaurant week menu. My only criticism is that I would order the hash browns extra crispy next time. We love that they leave a carafe of water on the table along with shared or individual coffee carafes...no waiting for refills! Pegg's is a great, locally owned go to spot! read more

Solid choice for breakfast. Coffee was just average so might want to find a Starbucks. Otherwise great family spot. Easy to grab breakfast and go. Quick service. In and out in 30 min if you wish. read more

Let me start out by saying that the people are SO friendly. The location is great too, with nice outdoor seating which is hard to come by in south bend. The food however was just average, if not even a little dry and under seasoned. O The prices were good, and I was especially impressed with the kids menu! The service at Peggs is amazing. The owner comes out and greets people, buses tables when needed and talks to everyone. I honestly don't even need that kind of attention, but it's nice to see that type of hands-on service at a restaurant. Our food was great, but if I had one suggestion for Peggs, it's that they should invest in smaller plates, because their serving sizes are small, and they have huge plates, which makes their food look even smaller. I honestly think that they serve a decent amount of food, and I'm glad they serve the amount that they do. I left feeling perfectly satisfied. I got a hamburger, and it was cooked to perfection. Peggs is hella busy on the weekends -- we had to wait about 15 minutes to get a table. But once we got a table, we got our food quickly. read more

Brunch today was perfect! For real, there's not one thing I'd change. I'm on crutches and they put us at a corner table in a sensible area, without us even having to ask. (It's the little things like this that make such an impact on an experience.) Aside from that, we had some of the best service we have ever had as a family!! Kaitlyn took great care of us. She was so friendly and attentive, on top of everything, and super knowledgeable about the menu and my gluten free options. The food was delicious! GF pancakes topped with bananas foster & their house bacon stick out as highlights. No pics because we were too hungry, but trust me when I say the food looked as good as it tasted! read more

Had a Monte Cristo here and I was impressed! Never really had one before but I loved the balance of savory and sweet in the dish. The ligonberry sauce and icing sugar cut the saltiness of the cheese and ham really well. The bread was also cooked perfectly until golden! I enjoyed every bite of it. Also loved the complimentary coffee while you wait in line, which is rather long on a Sunday! read more

What a horribly ran restaurant. No communication with customers. We came in with 10 people and were given the run around about ordering. We waited 40 minutes and still had not gotten our order taken Not even a manager could come over and let us know what was going on. Needless to say, our entire party got up and left, and we wont be back read more

I'm "awarding" 5 stars cause of Nicole and Katie who were the perfect, welcoming hosts and servers. I had avocado toast and though the avocado spread had oxidized (turned brown) it was delicious with 2 PERFECT sunny side up eggs. Very tasty. Someone else got the black and blue salad and reported that it was very, very good. The only miss was the omelette and hashed (not) browned potatoes. read more

My family walked into a warm and buzzing atmosphere and was greeted happily by one of the owners and several staff. And the food was spectacular. I had the platter while my sister had the tacos. Had heard good things from friends, so we stopped in our trip. Fantastic! I wish we had a place like this near us in CA...Lots of savory breakfast dishes, but great lunch items too. Usually the food is good. Today I visited and had salmon Benedict - the salmon was really fishy and lacked the sense of having intentional quality. Also was busy and server worked hard but forgot to order juice and was backed up. Wait was really long today, which can be expected on a Sunday. read more

Solid little breakfast joint nicely located within walking distance of Downtown South Bend. Great staff, service and food. The coffee was a little week/strange but we found it to be similarly odd in other surrounding breakfast/coffee joints so....maybe it's the water?? Lol. Comforting...I know ;). That said, enjoy. I was passing through the area, overnighted, and decided to have breakfast here. The service is incredibly friendly and helpful. I grabbed a table inside, they have a big sunny space that can spread the tables out a bit. I had the avocado toast. I would say it was OK - it could have been a bit more elevated with more of a texas size toast slices and more avocado. The portion was reasonable (I don't need a three egg monstrosity like some places serve). They also have a nice patio for outside seating. Definitely a good bet in downtown South Bend. read more

I had the eggs Benedict and it was really pretty good. But nothing super extraordinary. Washed it all down with a Coke and not a coffee because what's a few extra calories between friends? Right? Four out of five stars for this very reliable breakfast food type place. read more

Peggs is easily one of my favorite breakfast spots in South Bend. It has that comfortable local feel where the staff is genuinely friendly and you never feel like they're just trying to turn the table. The food is consistently good, portions are generous, and there are enough options on the menu that everyone can find something. The breakfast tacos and Eggs Benedict are both excellent, and the hash browns are definitely worth getting. Coffee stays filled, service is attentive without being over the top, and even when they're busy the place still feels welcoming. It's also a great downtown location and has become one of those places I'm happy to recommend when someone asks where to get breakfast or brunch in South Bend. Five stars from me. Decided on Peggs based on the positive reviews and the outdoor seating. Seems as if most of the other breakfast spots in South Bend are older and lacking atmosphere. There was a one hour wait, (fathers day), but the weather was nice, the owners kept us all informed on the wait times and they provided free coffee and water as we waited. I like free. The folks waiting were a happy, chatty bunch, made the time go by fast. We really enjoyed our meal, the service was great. Cinnamon rolls were awesome. Excellent Bloody Mary. They ran out of Oberon, which made me tear up for a moment , then they brought me a substitute beer, and i got over it. Very enjoyable experience. Peggs is an amazing small business restaurant in the heart of downtown South Bend. Every server here is smiley and super friendly. And Peg is just the greatest. We had friends in SB for the first time from Ohio for a hockey tournament and they were treated like locals & regulars, even family. I have been having breakfast at Peggs about once a week, and have never had a bad meal. The California Benedict is my favorite. The mixture of flavors blends perfectly together. It was a big plate of food so I would get a box and put it in the fridge for the next morning but I sat and sat there with my server gone like the wind so I finally flag down another server and ask for a box. I was completely left in limbo and no other servers looked after me because I wasn't one of their tables.
