Our server turned my Son's morning around - he made him a dragon pancake, and taught him how to use a payphone! And breakfast was great, but our server made our morning magical Excellent stop for breakfast!!!!

Yelp won't allow you to post a video so instead, I took a screenshot!

This family-friendly "mom & pop" restaurant is the BEST & CLOSEST RESTAURANT to Mt. Rushmore! And best of all, it's OPEN for dine in during these uncertain times! Our family loved it! It was my little sister's birthday and after enjoying a great breakfast, our waiter, Birds (I thought that's what his name was) came out to our table with his guitar and sang "Happy Birthday" to her wishing her a happy 9th birthday! If you're going here on vacation, it'll be a great change from the standard hotel breakfast. (Well, at least in our opinion) All in all, Great food Open for DINE IN & Sanitary (for Covid) Quick & Made to Order Close to Mt. Rushmore & Rapid City Friendly Staff Exceptional Breakfast ~ Oh yeah and SHOUT OUT TO OUR WAITER "Birds" (I hope I got the name right) ~

So day 2 trying to find food.. yesterday sign on door closed for the day and today sign down and no one there

Wow for big sign saying open 7 days a week breakfast lunch and dinner , today they are randomly closed . How do you expect tourist in this town to get a hot meal. Just because your season is ending doesn't mean tourists aren't hungry ..

Just great! Friendly staff, great tasting food, not an overpriced tourest trap. Definitely will stop by again.

We went here twice while vacationing. The first time we had a male waiter who was phenomenal! The food was awesome and he made us feel very welcome. The second time we had an Asian female who brought my 15 year old boys baby drinks as well as myself. She was nice, but never around when we needed her. The food was still great!

We stopped in to Peggy's Place after visiting Mount Rushmore in the pouring rain. We were cold and wet and it looked like a good spot to get some warm comfort food. First impressions were nice. Classic midwest diner decor (anyone reading my Yelp reviews will see that I have an affinity for midwest diners) and a bit of a crowd. Service was extremely friendly, but quite slow. We were apparently on the early side for lunch (11:40am) and were told the kitchen was still converting over from breakfast mode. After a little prompting, our waitress confirmed that they did have mashed potatoes and gravy (something that the entirely family wanted on this cold, wet day). That brings me to the food. I was quite disappointed. I had an open faced hot beef sandwich. The beef was tough and the gravy was clearly out of a can or jar. My wife ordered Chicken Fried Steak. After being informed they were out of this, she switched to a Chicken Fried Chicken, which was maybe 1/8" thick and tough. Though the coating was crunchy, it was pretty clear to us that this was institutional frozen fare that had been dropped in a fryer (which needed an oil change). The country gravy was thick as porridge and again seemed to be out of a can. Lack of seasoning across all our dishes reinforced that this was basically hospital food. Sorry, Peggy and crew. We really wanted to be enchanted by your diner. While our waitress was sweet and helpful, what came out of the kitchen left us wanting.

Stopped in here with family and friends for some breakfast while in Keystone. First off, breakfast goes till noon but pancakes and french toast are done at 11am, so that was a disapointing surprise. As for food, biscuits were soft and stick-to-your-gut type, super good. Hashbrowns were overly thin and crisped. Bacon was a bit overdone, but overall a fine place to eat.

Great location, the ingredients are good, the food preparation skills are fine but oh my goodness, can it be any less flavorful? Like come on, watch some Gordon Ramsey and add some funk to that menu. Get that blandness out of here Peggy. Also, the presentation is horrible!! I mean look at the pic and now the steak was served to me. No excuse for this. Would love to visit again if/when this place gets spiced up.

The service was great in this very busy place. We had breakfast. The food was OK and the menu had enough choices.

Honestly if I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and a friend of ours went here last year…read morewhen leaving Sturgis and loved it. This year I went and it was complexly awful. Everything from the attitude greeting at the door to paying the incorrect tab amount. It was awful. It took us a minute to find parking and finally found a spot up the street. We walked in and immediately the lady said how many people, we said 4 and she then said 'Well we have a limited menu today. You can get a breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich or biscuits and gravy'. All of us were fine with that and said that is okay, then she looked around the room and said 'Well it is going to be a while' and then walked away. Not even a hi when we walked in the door, just straight to trying to drive us away. I went to the restroom and as I came out a table of 5 people that all had biscuits and gravy was being sent back the kitchen. That didn't look good since that is what I wanted. I heard the server ask the cook if he could heat them all up. I guess they were all cold. I could deal with that. We stood around waiting for about 15-20 minutes and the I walked over to their tiny casino area and threw in $5 to waste some time. Finally the same rude chic said to us that she had 2 high top 2 seat tables if we wanted to split. We were tired of waiting so we took them. Then we waited and waited. We watched several people come in and wait to be greeted and never spoken to, so they leave disgruntled. We waited maybe another 15-20 minutes watching other tables wait for their food and even their drinks to come. We finally got asked what we wanted to drink. We got iced tea each and ordered our limited menu breakfast. And then we waited FOREVER. The table next to us finally got their food in 2 waves with about 5-10 minutes apart. The server said the cook cannot make the gravy fsst enough. Honestly, they shouldn't have the biscuits and gravy on the menu if it takes that long. And why couldn't they have a basic breakfast, eggs, hash brown ham or sausage and toast. This was literally the items on the sandwich or the burrito. Would have made things easier for the cook. Our food finally arrived. My husbands breakfast sandwich looked amazing and it was steaming hot. My biscuits and gravy were good.... at first. One biscuit was light and fluffy but when I got to the second biscuit it was completely burned on the bottom. I couldn't even cut it. I gave up. The server gave us our tab and charged up for an omelet and hash browns for $13. They didn't even have omelets available! Then when my husband questioned the bill and the server started arguing with him. How are you going to charge us for something you don't even offer? It was ridiculous. Overall we were there for almost 2 hours which cut in to our drive time to come back to Denver. Thanks, but I won't ever be back.

This is how a restaurant should be. If I'm going to spend the egregious amount of money to eat out…read morein 2026, it should be better than what I can cook at home. Too often do I go out to eat and spend $30+ to eat bland, overprocessed garbage food. This place clearly cares are but their quality. First - the menu items are unique and everything looked delicious. The quality of the food was top notch. The Eggs Benedict was pretty dang close to perfection. I'm a snob when it comes to eggs Benedict and it's soooo nice to find a place that actually does it right. They clearly made their own hollandaise and the eggs were poached perfectly. The service was excellent as well - the waitress was always checking in on me and she was very warm and friendly. Same with all of the other staff I've encountered. Honestly it's a little pricey but youre only going to spend an additional $5-10 per person over the greasy spoon diner down the street and it's wayyyy worth it. The restaurant was also very clean and inviting. I'm so sick of going to restaurants and the menus are dirty, the bathroom is disgusting, and the ambiance is dingy. This place was clean, fresh, and well kept up. Seriously one of the best restaurants I've tried in a while.
