I brought in an old Toro snow blower that needed some repair. The owner took a quick look and saw 2 or 3 things that I not seen in need of replacement (paddles and bottom plate). He gave me an estimate that sounded good so I left it. They called a few days with a full repair for less than the original estimate and all worked great with new parts. The owner and his staff are great people, easy to work with and very helpfu. I highly recommend Pehrson's for anyone needing snowblower, powermower or other power equipment repairs. I burned out a belt in my 3 stage snow thrower last spring trying to chew through a 3-foot thick compressed bank built up by several runs of the city plow. (Bad idea.) I called the shop I usually go to and was told, "not sure, we don't work on a lot of 3-stagers." I was told Pehrson's can fix anything so I took it in a month ago and am very happy. The heavy snow we've gotten since was tossed with ease! Pehrson's were timely, did great work and did it right the first time. Great job Pehrson's!! read more

They told me they'd pick up my snow blower between 8-10 on Saturday and they never did. I texted and called several times on Saturday and beyond, with absolutely no response. Voicemail full. Not sure what is going on... if they're sick or out of business. I'll have to find another repair shop. read more

The people are very nice BUT.... service has gone downhill. 1. I called at least three times during business hours and they never answer their phone. I had to drive to the business to get a status on the repair job. 2. Left two voice messages and received no call-back 3. Over promise and under deliver. Quoted 8-10 days to service a snowblower and 18 days later it was finally ready Unfortunately based on my experience this time around I probably won't use them again. read more

Was helped today by, I believe his name was Trevor , I asked him a few questions regarding my mower that wouldn't start, and I honestly just wanted to bring it in and have him fix it and he said he gladly would but he told me to do a few things first to see if it was a simple problem I could fix my self before spending the money for him o do it. Lo and behold what he said was right and I did it myself. He could have made over $100 if I brought it in. If you want honesty and really good advice Pehrsons is your spot. We took our mower in to be repaired. We were told that the needed repairs would be $450. We chose to buy a new mower. In the end the old mower was just fine, it needed a new bolt and is working fine. They would not refund us or let us return the new mower. They wanted a 50% restocking fee. They sold us a new mower based on their bad information. Very bad customer service. We having been loyal customers for 29years. We will never step foot in there again. Do yourself a favor and go to Home Depot. read more

Last week the weather was nice enough that I thought I'd till my garden. When the tiller wouldn't stay running for more than a few minutes, I decided it needed carburetor work and took it to Pehrson's. It was ready a week later. The gas tank was empty(it was full when I took it in), so I took it home, filled it up and started it. Seemed fine. Shut it off and went to turn on water so I could till the next day. When I returned to the tiller, it was surrounded by a puddle of gas, and dripping profusely. Called Pehrson's to see if there was something I could check. They said bring it back. I took it back, and it took them about 20 minutes to find that their mechanic had put the wrong seat on for the carburetor. They said it was fixed now. My thinking is that if you work on the fuel system, you should make sure it's working before returning it to the customer. Fifty cents worth of gas in the tank would have revealed the leak in short order. As it was, I had to make an extra trip, spending my time and money because of their mistake. I do not consider that professional under any circumstance. read more

DON'T GO TO PEHRSON'S ANYMORE. I have been going to Pehrson's for decades but something has changed. I was told that a lot of staff have left. The certified mechanics we used to work with are no longer there. They don't answer calls or let you know about the status of your repair. I found them incredibly rude, unhelpful and frankly hostile. We bought our snowblower from Pehrson's in 2009 and they have serviced it every year and we have never had a problem. This year with our first big snow, the snowblower coughed and died. They picked it up, and returned it with a clean bill of health very quickly but unfortunately it continued to have the same issue, dying once it had warmed up. They apologized, picked it up and diagnosed the problem. Not only did they pick up the part the same day, they fixed it and returned it the next day AND used it to clean our driveway since we had 8 inches of snow the night before. I bought a what I thought was a brand new Honda generator from Pehrsons that in fact turned out to be two years old and previously owned by another company. After using it three times it kept dying and so I took it to a Honda servicing company who informed me that it needed an oil change and carburetor clean and a new spark plug. I asked him how that could be possible with a brand new generator and they informed me that it was not new and that it was, in fact, about two years old. I went back to Pehrsons and and they refused to give me a new one in exchange and offered a vague apology for my plight. I have had problems with this company in the past and I deeply regret going back to them to purchase this equipment. I will never return. read more

I can't stress strongly enough how much you should stay away. I used to take equipment to them all the time - mower blades for sharpening, mowers and snowblowers for maintenance and repair. Never had an issue with them. Cut to 2016 and I don't know what happened but all I got from them was three months of lies. I took a snowblower in to have a muffler bolt removed and replaced. I went in the second week in March - end of the snowy season but before the summer season kicked off. Pehrson's told me the work would be done in a couple of weeks (lie #1). I was a little concerned when I went in that three guys were there having shouting matches with two of the staff about the fact they'd had to wait for four months and no work had been done on their mowers. But I figured that might just be someone with an ax to grind as I'd never had any issues. Well - two weeks came and went. After a month I called and they said they'd not even started it because of all the mower work. I pointed out that I bought the snowblower in BEFORE mower season specifically so they could get it done. Apparently this is not how they work. They do not do work in the order it's received. They do it (it seems) by who screams the loudest. Worth noting : you're lucky to EVER get anyone on the phone as their mailbox is full and they barely ever answer the phone in person. I'm beginning to understand why. After two months I went in in person - no - still not done any work on it despite the peak mower rush having died off. They told me they'd start on it on the following monday. It's worth pointing out that you can see over the fence to their holding pen and at this point there were four mowers and eight snow blowers there waiting for service. Not exactly busy. Two weeks later I went in again - I was told they'd stripped it down and had extracted the old bolt and were waiting for parts. (lie #2) A week after that I went in - still waiting for the part. For a muffler bolt? Really? Another week later I went in again - still waiting for the part. At this point I'm told it's on back-order (lie #3). At the three month mark I ordered the replacement parts online and they arrived the next day. So much for back order and hard to get hold of. After three months and a week, I went in and just asked for the snowblower to be returned to me as I'd do the work myself. When they brought it out, they hadn't even taken the cowl off, let alone touched the muffler, muffler bolt or engine in any way. They did have the common decency to refund my deposit, which is something I suppose. Pehrson's are a locally-owned company and if they continue this new-found level of "service" they'll be out of business pretty soon. read more

WOW! I just read the three reviews ahead of me. One is a real slash and burn. However, I noticed it was from 2011 too. I am the exact opposite of that review! The reviewer noted no customers, ever. There were at least 5 customers the day I went in for service. He inferred no product knowledge, I found that NOT the case. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful. I was impressed when I dropped off my snow blower. The young man gave me an overview of what he expected to find. Said he would rip into as soon as possible to order parts. Long story short that did not happen, and I got a second round of miss information. However, and I think this is KEY: no business knows they have a problem until YOU let them know. I did, I sent an e-mail. I received a prompt and informative reply from Brady the President of the company. He made everything right. I went from very pleased, to a bit upset and finished off VERY satisfied with the service and communication. I WILL be back and I have already sent a friend his way and WILL send more friends to them. GREAT staff, and from what I read here, they HAVE turned it around. We took our lawnmower in for service and were told two weeks or less. it's been just over a week. Have tried to contact them by phone for two days and over half a dozen calls at different times of day to see if it is ready but they do not answer. Finally took the trouble to drive over and were told they were too busy to answer the phone. When we pointed out there was one customer and three employees up front they said the phone wasn't working. ??? No apology, no "I'm sorry," nothing. They did say everyone else was two weeks out. We took our mower to our regular place that's a little farther away and it will be ready in two days. read more

I've purchased supplies from this store over time and usually received ok customer service, but nothing enthusiastic for sure. Today I took in a Stihl blower subject to a safety recall (gas cap issue) and after the employee/owner (not sure which) took a cursory look, he said my unit was not subject to the recall and therefore "safe". I looked at the mailing from Stihl USA again and based on the markings on the cap, and the photos in the notice, I was convinced my blower was NOT safe. I went back in and the employee begrudgingly replaced my cap, with another defective cap of the same markings. When I arrived home I called Stihl USA tech support at the number on the recall notice and they confirmed I had a bad cap. They also told me they compensate the dealers to replace the caps, so I'm not sure why this shop was not willing to do so. I like to offer the benefit of the doubt to people and assume a lack of education. But in this case he pointed out a mark on the cap to "prove" it was a good cap, and when I showed him that was inconsistent with the photo's in the recall notice, he gave me attitude like he'd been caught. Then swapped it for another defective cap. Trust is a hard thing to earn back once lost. How can I trust a service is performed as requested from this shop. It is unfortunate because they are close to my home, but I will drive the extra distance to go to a shop with a bit more integrity from now on. Follow Up: Went to another dealer close by and they addressed the recall in less than 5 minutes. They had the CORRECT part, and replaced it with a positive attitude. BTW, they were busy whereas this business rarely has several customers at once. Maybe the word is out. read more

Went in last week to get a chain sharpened was told they only sharpen on certain days and it would be a couple days. I was in a crunch and didn't have a couple days, so I told them I'll just buy a new one. The guy told me he didn't know how to make one and I would have to wait until one of the other guys came back from lunch. I ended up going somewhere else to buy a new chain so I could get my job done on time. I went back a WEEK later to pick up the chain I left to get sharpened. They lost it, looked around and found it then told me I would have to come back another day because they didn't have time to sharpen MY CHAIN I DROPPED OFF A WEEK AGO THAT THEY LOST. I asked the guy for the chain back and I would take it somewhere else. He tossed it across the counter and and went in the back. I've taken other things there before and have never had good customer service, but this was horrible. Would not recommend, and I will never take anything back. read more

I had a terrible experience with them. 1. I took my lawn mower in on April 7th. They told me it would be 2 maybe 3 weeks. I mentioned to them that there were bad reviews on Yelp and the guy said the owner was trying to sell the business and was not investing to provide good service. I disregarded that because I had done a lot of previous work with them and felt some loyalty. 2. I called after 4 weeks and could never get an answer and the message system was full 3. I stopped in and inquired the week of April 25th and they said they'd get to it that week 4. A full week later they called and said they couldn't get it started and that it needed an new carburetor and that they had ordered it 5 On May 16th I stopped in and the carburetor was still on order 6. On May 30th I stopped and picked up my lawn mower to take it somewhere else. They said the part had just come in but made no attempt to keep the lawn mower and fix it. They brought it out and I took it. I would have thought they would at least have tried to talk me into leaving it and fixing it now that the part had come in after 5 weeks. Before I called, I called United Services at 2808 South Main and they had the part in stock. 7. I took the lawn mower to United Services and they called June 1st and told me the lawn mower was fixed. They cleaned the carburetor, replaced the spark plug and air filter, and the lawn mower was running fine and didn't need a new carburetor. So much for my loyalty to Pehrsons. read more
