Really disappointing experience at Pei Wei tonight. We arrived at 8:50 PM and were told they were closing in 7 minutes. We asked if they could still take our order, and we assumed that while the kitchen might be closing soon, we could still dine in since the restaurant was still open. Instead, they prepared our food in to-go containers and then asked us to leave. The biggest issue was the lack of communication. If dine-in service had already ended, they should have clearly told us that before taking our order. We would have then had the choice to either take the food to go or simply not order. Being handed food in to-go containers after assuming we could sit and eat, and then being asked to leave, was an extremely unpleasant customer experience. We came with a mind set to eat and dine in and not in our cars! We completely understand that employees need to close on time, but customers should be treated with basic courtesy and given clear information upfront. I had the bourbon chicken, it was very bland and tastes like something from the freezer. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good by any means. I also am pretty disgusted by them throwing sauce packets in WITH my food, like inside the container, touching my food.....WHO DOES THAT?! Sauce packets get handled, tossed and dropped and touched by anyone. Absolutely disgusting. And my last complaint is more preferential, but I feel it's ridiculous to serve crab Rangoon without sweet and sour sauce, probably on me for not reading into it. Pie Wei is always a reliable chines Ave meal that does not break the budget, but is also pretty good. I tent to get the Mongolian beef here and my wife the beef and broccoli. The meals are on par with the food at PF Changs (Which i believe is their sister restaurant) with a more casual dining experience. The service here counter order service as you walk in, the seating is comfortable enough and the staff was friendly. If in Altamonte looking for quick but enjoyable Chinese meal, Pei Wei is a good option! read more

I used to come to this location a lot since it's so close to the mall, however, I have not been in years. I got the lettuce wraps and the Spicy General Tso's Chicken with white rice. The food was just as good as I remembered. I was pretty surprised the location was as empty as it was at 5:30pm. Good prices and good food. I have a lot of mixed emotions about this little restaurant. But let's start off with the ambience, it's a well lit, very calm restaurant for the most part. The service is fair. The workers were on top of what they needed to do, very quick and kind for the most part. A lot of choices of drinks. Now let's move on to the food, the beef and broccoli we'll start off with first, the rice had a very gingerish flavor which was suprising considering it was white rice. The broccoli was very plain. There wasn't sauce to the whole entire bowl. The beef had its moments. The beef was either very chewy or very hard and crunchy. It lacked a bit of flavor, but it wasn't enjoyable whatsoever. Now for the orange chicken meal. The orange chicken didn't have much flavor besides literally tasting like an orange. The fried rice wasn't too bad. Next was the chicken pad Thai, it was wet and slimy, had no flavor whatsoever. The other meal we had was the Mongolian beef with fried rice, it was decent at most. Sizing wise I would say they give pretty good portions even for the kids sizes. Honestly the only thing I enjoyed was the fortune cookie. I feel as though there is a-lot of potential in this spot. But in total, for 3 kids meals that did bring drinks, 2 adult meals, with a side a rice, a large soda which was separate was a total of about 70$. Which in my opinion wasn't worth it all. Wow, we have been living in this neighborhood for 23 years and never visited this restaurant until today that we had guests and we need a quick dinner stop. Disgusting. My visitors from NYC were very disappointed. The prices about $20 per person nice ans clean booths and the girl at the order taking register a sweet heart. The cooks a female and a male- young kids like from college that probably just follows a checklist. I counted the pieces of broccoli the chicken and the whole pile of rice or noodles on a soupy wave of OIL... nasty, salty and not traditional taste at all. Different. My friend thought we were going to Panda Express and then we arrived at the doors and they read "a P.F. Chang's bistro" they're like ohhhhhhhhhh. I get it. I actually enjoy Pei Wei more than PF Chang's...it's more affordable, far faster and made fresh to order. What more could you want than some Chinese food fast and yummy?!? One cool thing is they offer a lot of appetizers in 2, 4 or 6 items. Imagine this....just 2 Rangoon made fresh to order with REAL crab meat. They're so so so good. I highly suggest. I recently ordered a online order for pickup as it was in the same plaza that I had some shopping to do at. I ordered the Firecracker chicken with the white rice, a side of fried rice and a egg roll. The firecracker chicken was very delicious with the white rice. The fried rice I could have done without... it was okay but not what I was hoping for. The chicken egg roll was also very good and the outside was crunchy. When I walked in the takeout door I was welcomed with a quick hello and if I was picking up a order and it was ready and hot. We been coming to Pei Wei for years but unfortunately since the Covid disaster this store has gone downhill. First a few years back there was always a line to get into this location and a happy feeling between customers and restaurant employees. At yesterday's visit the place was empty besides my family there was only one or two tables occupied. The woman at the counter who took our order was polite and our order was accurate but she didn't seem excited to being there. Our food was served one plate at a time which was fine being delivered as it was individually prepared. I forgot to mention if you like the Hot and Sour soup forget it for some reason soups aren't available anymore. Our food wasn't bad but seemed bland and tasteless. I had to apply Soy Sauce and Hot Mustard to improve the flavor. Again overall the service was good, the price was fair and everyone did finish their meal. The restaurant was also clean. I just a the feeling that it was a place that soon will be closing their doors, which I hope not. Will we return of course, not in the immediate future. read more

We ordered a ton of food for delivery, and were very pleasantly surprised. Every entree was plentiful and delicious, and the presentation/delivery was better than expected. It's a bit pricey, but you do get a lot of food on your plate. The taste is nothing too special. They do drench the food in sauce so it's almost soupy like. I was humbly impressed by it, great crunch bite and warm yummy crab filling inside. I also ordered the veggie spring roll to try, the filling was alright but I enjoyed the Rangoon more. We decided to be good and try their tofu dishs. I got the general Tao and the sauce to it had a nice tangy but sweet taste. They say it's spicy too but I could hardly tell. I appreciated how it came with lots of veggies like spring onions, carrots, and peppers. If I could offer my personal tip it would be to ask for it to be light on the sauce because it seems they drown it which I'm not into. My hubby ended up paying about 40 something for 1 kids meal, 2 tofu dishes w rice, 4 crab Rangoons, and 1 veggie spring roll. I don't recall Pei Wei being this pricey in the past but could be due to inflation. It being more of "fast food" dining I left feeling a bit cheated like I should of just went to dine in somewhere. However, staff and service did go above and beyond and recommended we join their reward program to get a free meal so that was nice and felt more worth the tab. read more

This was my first time ordering the orange chicken and noodles. I would not recommend going unless you expect fast food quality. I am Asian, and the noodles were chewy and dry. The orange chicken was mostly breading with a thick orange flavoured sugary sauce. It was either chewy or crunchy (fried breading). It did not taste fresh at all. I would love to see fresh chicken with less breading, less sugar in the sauce and more orange flavour, and fresh noodles. read more

One appetizer came up around 12:25 and the other 12:30 and I had to wait until the counter person was done taking an order because she was the only person working the counter. I wasted almost 20 minutes of my lunch break waiting for my food, it was luke warm by time I was able to eat it, my honey chicken was mushy because it sat steaming in the container for over 20 minutes and my fried rice tasted like it was burnt. Stopped in for lunch today as we were running errands in the area. It was really quiet for noontime without much of a lunch rush. We were greeted with a friendly smile when we first walked in. I really like the large menu video screens when you first walk in. Makes it easy to help decide what you're going to have before you get to the order counter. After placing our order, we took our table in the middle of the restaurant. It was nice, clean and well kept. A young man brought our food to the table and he was nice and friendly also. The food was really good and the portion really filled us up. I had the new Firecracker Chicken. It was cooked crispy, had good flavor and was nice and spicy. I really enjoyed it.
