I always have a great experience at Peju! The wine is delicious (the cab is my favorite) and reasonably priced. I love that they also do food pairings such as a cheese plate. We were late to the party, arriving at 5:33pm, so three minutes after they would start their last tasting, however they were nice enough to offer us a complimentary glass of wine to enjoy. We stopped by here randomly on a Tuesday after we had a tasting at domaine Carneros and are so glad we did! I try to visit different wineries now while in napa as we end up limiting ourselves to what napa valley has to offer. Peju is such a gorgeous property and that alone makes you want to visit however their customer service is excellent. I've gone to cakebread and st. Suprey yet never stopped by here so I'm glad we had this opportunity! We arrived without a reservation and 1 hour prior to close but Debbie was so accommodating! Not only was she so pleasant and informative, she gave us an extra pour of the rose which we ended up purchasing! She really paid attention to what my mil likes and tried to find what was good for her palate! I usually enjoy heavy bold cabs but but calmere Chardonnay was also wonderful on this hot day! And my mil loved the Province red/white blend! We purchased 3 bottles as it waived the tasting but I thinking pricing wise Peju is pretty comparable to lost napa wineries which charge about $40-$45 average per tasting. They were however not stingy with their pours and allowed us to try a few not on the tasting menu. Overall we had a good tasting at Peju, but it wasn't one of my favorites for the price. The guy manning the front desk was friendly and we were able to get into a tasting pretty quickly. The tasting employee was friendly and gave good anecdotes about each wine. They have a bunch of bars setup for each tasting; this makes it a bit more personal than just having one large bar and trying to help everyone from there. I thought the tasting was super pricey for the size of pours that you got. You really only got a sip or two max. For $35 at most of the bubbly vineyards you got at least double the amount of wine. My favorite of the samples was their Sauvignon Blanc. The grounds at Peju are pretty and it's worth taking some time to hang out there after your tasting. read more

This is an absolutely beautiful property! Inside the stained glass wall is stunning and the art walk in the gardens is wonderful also. The wine was decent. The experience seemed a bit rushed, not to say our server was in anyway impolite or unwelcoming, it just seemed they needed to finish in a quick time frame for another group to come in behind us. We had tasted all the wines and were leaving in about 40 minutes. Full disclosure, they do let you know ahead of time it is a 45 minute experience, it just went really fast! This is one of my favorites in Napa. Excellence wines some very unique Cab blends that are really really nice. The host was the best, he was so knowledgeable about all the wines and the back end stories too. Our host gave some of the best tips for wine tasting (one was, take three sips before you judge the wine). Inside is seriously stunning. The one tasting room in the back had these beautiful marble floors (I think they were marble) and counters then a stain glass mural on the wall that was just so pretty (Kind of felt like walking into church for a moment). I stopped by Peju on my way home to pick up a few bottles of wine (the Fifty/Fifty is one of my favorites...so I had to stop by to get that!). I saw that the lady had opened up a bottle of the rose for the couple in front of me to try. She poured them almost two full glasses of the sparkling rose. When I asked to try it cuz I was considering picking it up, too, she told me she doesn't have one opened. Such a lie! It was opened fresh for the people in front of me! I don't understand why I was treated differently than the couple in front of me. I certainly hope it wasn't a race thing. Ended up buying three bottles anyway, but I don't think I'll return any time soon. I don't like feeling like I'm being dismissed and unimportant compared to the other customers. The worst part was I had raved about this winery to 3 other friends who were with me that day, but they all left empty-handed because they didn't like the way we were being treated. Out of our four stops in Napa for the day, this one was the least memorable to me. It's a small space with some upstairs seating and a couple tables outside. Our group decided to just grab one bottle to share instead of doing a tasting. We opted for the white and red blend ($24), which was a good medium. I went to Napa this year with a big group of friends and hands down my favorite winery was Peju. The wine was delicious, the grounds were beautiful, and the staff was amazing. I'm so happy that my local grocery store carries several of their wines, but for the Province I've decided to order some bottles delivered. As if I didn't already love the winery itself, the customer service I've received via telephone has been equally amazing. I recently had to edit an order I placed and spoke with Anne who was a TREMENDOUS help. So glad to see a business that has immaculate service at every level. A really cool place, with nice people and great wines. Stopped in a few minutes before they closed, and we were greeted like family. We were immediately offered a complimentary taste, and well that led to more, and we ended up ordering a case of reserve Cab, 50/50 and experiment, all of which we loved. I've been a member with Peju for over two years, even stuck with them through the pandemic. As much as I love the wine, the people that work there, and the winery I'm extremely disappointed with their customer service. I've never been able to attend any of their events because of covid and they are hosting "Broadway and Vine," Haley Rose reached out to me by email on August 19th asking if I would like to RSVP. I replied and then confirmed the slot for me and a guest the next day August 20 for September 21st. I never got a reply to that email so I touched base with her today just to confirm because tomorrow is the day it is supposed to happen and she told me she overlooked my email and I was never put on the list. read more

Being that it was Memorial Weekend and Bottle Rock concert going on, most places didn't take any walk-ins. I called and Nicole answered and said no reservations needed and walk-ins welcomed with only a 15 mins. wait. The $20 fee is complimentary with a $35 wine purchase. I split the tasting with my boyfriend since we didn't want to get too tipsy (and the pours were generous). [drank] *2012 Sauvignon Blanc *Provence *2009 Merlot *2010 Cabernet Sauvignon *2010 Fifty/Fifty *2009 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ALL of the reds that I had tried were AMAZING! This is not a wine tasting.... It's a wine experience. The tasting room sits in a demi-castle with lots of stone and amazing ambiance. Peju offers a unique and very desirable tasting experience that is quite different than most. When you arrive you will be asked to hold for a few minutes until you can be shown to the back tasting room. Once you go back, you are taken in a group of 4 or less. Scott gave our tasting. I could tell rather quickly he was a man of the theatre. He gave quite a production. He very enthusiastically described each of the wines he poured as if we were front and center on Broadway. The wines were better than the majority of what we had tasted in Napa in April 2012. The Napa 2008 Cabs have been a bit disappointing. Nothing close to the 2007's. They were pouring a nice 2007 Merlot. We bought a few bottles. Overall, this is a great wine tasting experience from a winery that is among a group that consistently sets the pace for Napa. Came here with the girls....we did a tasting upstairs with Gregory, who was very informational and we had the table that he used as a home base for his work, so we were able to talk with him more than the other patrons were. Which was nice. We did some drunk shopping, I bot a cute cheeseboard in the shape of our great state of CA, some BBQ Rub, and a bottle of the affectinalely nicknamed "Porch Pounder". The grounds were nice, we explored a little so we could take pics for our Insta and FB accounts...typical chicks. We ordered a few bottles of wine and enjoyed them at a table when one became available outside. Porch Pounder came in handy the next morning....good times, we'd go back. read more

This is probably a 2.5 rating and not just a 2. Its between OK and could have been better. We chose Peju after deciding to add it to our list of our "monthly Monday" winery visit. We are trying to do 3-5 wineries in Napa 1 Monday each month. We are locals and want to really try and help as much as we can we things get opened back up. We travel up and down the valley quite often and have always loved the (what we now know are) Sycamore trees that line the driveway. I am in the wine industry and am fortunate enough to have been able to work during the pandemic. My wife own a small business and was shut down. We have seen and experienced the pain and suffering of that this has done to people. Although not much, we want to help any way we can. Upon arriving we walked the grounds for a minute and made our way to the tower. We entered and were greeted with rather loud music that did not fit into a winery setting at all. It sounded like it was coming from one speaker behind a bar and that speaker needed to supply the entire tower with music. The music ranged from alt-rock to a little hip hop. Again, not exactly what I expected at a winery. We were sat by who I assume is the hostess, inside a shopping/tasting area that felt very very cramped, with several tables close together. Within 10 feet was a bar I assume was for coming in during non pandemic and just buying a glass of wine. Thats all I can assume however. The wine educator/server came and presented us with a spit cup, some waters and our glasses and welcomed us warmly. He was also apparently the only person there as he was also hosting another couple around the corner. For a while he seemed to be a little more fond of them than with my wife and I. There was an abundance of conversation traveling trough the L shaped room we where in from their side. Very minimal time spend tending to us. Once that couple left the attention variable certainly changed and focused on us.. but why wouldn't it? The wines where also somewhere between a 2 and a 3. Lingering between could be better and just OK. We were fortunate enough to get a small taste of some off of the list wines. The information we did get from the server about how great their Cab Franc was was great... I was disappointed to find out they did not have their Cab Franc on the menu to taste. Thankfully he had a bottle we could taste and it was great. We wound up grabbing a couple bottles of Sauv Blanc for the wife, a bottle of Zin port for me and a candle and departed. Walked the grounds and checked out the statues for a bit. VERY disappointed we didn't get offered to sit outside. Why this is, I will never know, their grounds are so great and they had other people sitting outside. instead we were trapped in that smothering feeling shop. The first time I went for a tasting at Peju, I absolutely loved it. A vivacious, friendly older gentleman warmly greeted us at the tasting bar, cracking jokes, taking his time, telling us about the wine, letting us sneak a few tastes of their late-harvest chardonnay. That was maybe 3 years ago. This weekend ... oh man. You can imagine my dismay when 3 of us got squeezed into a tasting that had already started with 10 other people, not even in front of a tasting counter but in front of the cash register part of the tasting counter with a 4 inch strip of wood to narrowly rest our glasses on. True, they asked us first if it would be ok, and we agreed ... and it would have been fine if not for how the rest of the tasting went. Our tasting guy rushed us through the tasting, I didn't hear anything about the wines except their varietal. We were pushed multiple times to sign up for their wine club - had three copies each of the form and price list. The bottle ran out mid-pour, so my friend only got a splash of one of the wines, and when she asked if she could have a full tasting-sized pour, he did not appear happy. Everything my girlfriends and I said to each other, with him in hearing distance was answered with some unnecessary biting remark that was I guess supposed to be sarcastic funny? Not so much. And when all the wines had been poured, his sales tactic was poured on even more adamantly. "What can I get ya? What can I get ya?" was constantly repeated yet very little attention was paid to little ol' me who just wanted to pay and go home with a bottle of Zin. When he told us to call him "Uncle xxxx" (name hidden) my friend literally stormed out of the tasting room, she was so offended. And sadly, the kind older gentleman was happily helping customers at the other tasting bar across from us. Guess it totally depends on who you get. I may be back, but I must say, it was kinda a downer in the middle of a beautiful Napa day.. read more

When you step inside, make sure you give your name to the greeter if you want to wine taste. Listen for your name. Also check in on yelp. There's a two for one classic wine tasting offer. We were taken to the upstairs wine tasting room. The nice thing about wine tasting are the factoids you can pick up. Yesterday a patron asked me why did I swirl my wine glass. I guess she's never gone to wine tasting 101 class. Swirl, tilt, put your nose into the glass, take a sip. Our wine guy said swirling isn't necessary if the wine is aerated first. I like swirling. The wine guy also said wine has layers - bottom layer is the alcohol, middle layer is the wood, and top layer is the fruit. And don't rinse your wine glass in water if you're switching from wine to wine as water will dilute the wine taste. At any rate wine tasting can morph into a wine experience if you've got a good person behind the counter. If you purchase wine, your wine tasting fee is waived. The wine guy said don't forget to go over to the tower and admire the 100+ year old stain glass window. We forgot! read more

This is my favorite winery thus far. I'm actually considering being their member because I'll most likely be back here every time I come back to Napa. I just had that great of an experience! The wine tasting was 4 wines for $25, but we tried a little extra. I can honestly say that I liked all the wines we tried. We all ended up leaving with 2 bottles each to waive our tasting fees. We got the Carnival (a Riesling) and the Provence, which was a mixture of white and red. They were our favorites. The Carnival was a little sweeter because it was a Riesling. The second wine we bought was light and refreshing but yet it was a red. The man said it was the white lovers' red and the red lovers' white. Boy, was he right! And did I mention these two wines were only $45 after taxes? So it's actually more worth it to buy the two bottles than just pay for the tasting fee. I've come here on the weekend and on a weekday. But during the weekend that we went, there was live music. A man was singing. I can't tell you what genre of music it was but he seemed to be able to sing a variety. So we bought ourselves some wine and enjoyed it under the umbrellas at the outdoor tables. The scenery is also wonderful. There are a few fountains and some sculptures. You're also by many trees and bushes that are cut into odd shapes. Not to mention, the building itself is also beautiful. read more

I'm not much of a walk up and taste without an appointment kind of gal but when I am, we come to Peju. Their tasting experience is easily forgotten as more often than not, you're sharing the bar with a bunch of other strangers doing a group tasting with a host not super interested in chatting with you. The Peju Province red/white blend is a Summer staple in this house and easily my favorite wine for friends over on a warm day. It drinks like a white but tastes like a red. The porch pounder. Get it. Their other reds are hit and miss. The 50/50 blend is also a good buy! We bought an estate bottle and it was corked which was a bummer at $150 a bottle (hence the 3 stars). read more

This was an absolutely beautiful and wonderful winery. It has a nice little small garden area that you can walk around and sit and have a mini picnic. My husband and I came for my birthday and were so enthusiastic to find out that this location is dog friendly and boy it sure is! We brought our little pupper and he was an absolutely hit. The workers made sure that he was attended to and got plenty of water. Since we didn't have a reservation we had to wait until a tasting was available. They were really sweet they offered us a drink while we were waiting. We decided to go for the $40 tasting which includes 5 different wines. The wines here are definitely smooth and velvety which we prefer. They were perfect to us. Jeff was a great host. He was funny, witty, and made sure to explain things if we ever had any questions. This was one of our fave wineries in Napa. Loved the odd sculptures leading into the winery. And the beautiful pink/purple/blue marble flooring and countertops! Loved also that we were greeted upon walking in by Jeff and there was nary a word about a tasting fee. He just started pouring for me and my hubby. The wines were fantastic and we broke our rule of just buying one wine per winery. We purchased I think 4 bottles! Alot of that also has to do with no tasting fee...wineries take note! I now know what Buddy must be feeling when I'm standing there talking on the phone holding one of his favorite biscuits. "JUST GIVE ME THE FRIGGIN TREAT, BOZO!" That's just how I felt during this disappointing tasting. What's going on up here lately that these wineries freak out when more than 8 people are in their tasting room at one time? On arrival we witnessed a mild spat between 2 staffers about how our little group of 3 would be accomodated. We were led away from the main tasting room, where there were just 8 visitors tasting, through some back rooms to a barrel room that was the former tasting area. We were then subjected to a lecturish presentation of a 4-taste flight by a guy who describes himself as a trained chef. Why's he pouring tastes, then? He had absolutely no sense of humor and any chit chat between the guests seemed to throw his patter off completely. With each bottle he produced, he'd launch into a philosophical treatise and tell us what flavors, textures, and aromas we were about to experience, while waving the bottle around in front of our faces. I would much rather taste the wine and then be offered some thoughts or explanation by the pourer while I sip. When he did pour, he was miserly. At one point he ORDERED each of us to put our glasses down and wait for the esthers of the alcohol to dissipate to produce a new flavor in the wine. Cool lesson, dickish presentation. Don't force your customers to do anything--merely suggest it, clownboy. Nevertheless we did really enjoy a Sauvignon Blanc, and each bought a bottle, but the Merlot & Cab were nothing special, and a red blend they serve chilled and call Provence "in homage to chilled European table wines" was just too sweet, despite Mr. Man's assertions otherwise. This tasting experience took too long and was actually an unpleasant introduction to Peju's wines, which is a shame given they're sold almost nowhere but the winery and are well priced. read more
