We were a pretty rowdy group of 7 and I had asked for a more secluded table/pretty views when I made the reservation and they had us in the perfect area. They even customize your menu to say happy birthday!! Our sommelier was Tyler and we absolutely LOVED him. He answered all our questions thoroughly and took great photos of us and had us laughing the whole time. The wine tasting itself was good. Saintsbury was truly a hidden gem! Although we arrived about 25 minutes early for our reservation, the staff was welcoming, and we were able to enjoy our tasting at our own pace. It was wonderful to escape the crowds and the hustle and bustle often found at other Napa wineries. Our host, Tyler, explained the history of the vineyard (including the two founders who met at UC Davis) and detailed the local vineyards they source their grapes from. The afternoon was quite peaceful, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and the views. While wine preference is subjective, I was impressed with everything we tasted. Their Pinot Noir was a favorite, but I also enjoyed the Chardonnay, which was balanced and would pair well with a cheese plate or seafood dish. RSVP in advance - tastings were $65 a person and included four current release wines and one Cellarbook Pinot Noir. We ended up purchasing two bottles! This was one of my favorite stops in Napa. We decided to go here on a whim since it was only a few minutes from our stay at Stanly Ranch. The garden seating was stunning and we felt like we were in a fairy tale. All of the wines were so interesting and unique and perfect for our first stop after a super long travel day. The garden is so beautiful and the weather was perfect. Unlike some other, more well-known touristy spots, this one felt special because it was just the two of us and we could take as much time as we needed. My group of friends came here for our do-over Napa trip that was originally scheduled for March 2020. We came across Sainstbury while looking for last minute tasting availability on Cellarpass and loved the photos we saw for the wine selection and the garden seating! Due to an error with Uber (make sure you pop in Saintsbury Vineyard) we were 30 minutes late for our tasting, but the team at Sainstbury was thankfully able to accommodate our reservation. We were led through the tasting by Tyler who walked us through their selection of Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, and helped us take some stellar group photos. Their variety of Pinot Noirs really shocked us (in a great way), and the personalized folder was such a great add-on to the experience! We'll definitely be back! read more

Meh, it was OK. It seemed more like a processing plant than a real winery and vineyard. They get their grapes from different growers around and end up making the wine there. The wines we tried were pretty good. The staff was busy running several different tables doing tastings. The outside grounds are pretty nice. I was disappointed that we weren't shown around at all and also not allowed in the barrel house. The website offered a lot more than what we really got. read more

i love finding smaller wineries in napa area. you feel more like a person and not rushed. this this was a unique tasting because it was basically all pinot noirs with one chardonnay. nice change from all the cabs i normally drink. a couple were even more full bodied than i would have ever thought. tyler helped us and he was great at talking about the wines along with side conversations. we ended up buying 2 bottles of pinot because it was that great. the view of the countryside didnt hurt either. the breadsticks were pretty good as well. read more

This is a more home-y type of winery. Before I came, a lot of mishap occurred with my reservation. There was a lot of back and forth communication, but Terry the manager was very accommodating for our party. When we got there, we instantly fell in love with the location. The set up of the tables with the decorations is a plus. I believe the person serving us was named Taylor(?) she was awesome! She knew everything about the wines, and was able to answer all our questions we had. It felt more like an actual conversation rather than her just trying to serve us. She would fill our glasses every time we were ready, instead of filling it up right away to get rid of us. I appreciate the knowledgeable and very welcoming team here. Enjoyed a tasting flight here on an early Sunday afternoon. The weather was perfect. I appreciated the laid back setting of the outdoor tasting experience. Napa is best known for producing world class Cabernet Sauvignon but a little region in south Napa called Carneros is all about the Pinot Noir. One of the best wineries in the region is of course Saintsbury. Not only do they make great Carneros Pinot Noir and Chardonnay but they also source grapes from other regions to make other excellent Pinot Noirs. So if you're a fan of Pinot like we are this is the place for you. Over the years we have been blown away but their consistant guest experience. Jacob has always been someone we've enjoyed being take care of by. His wine-side manner is also fun, informative and engaging. He's someone you really want to just hang out with and makes the wine so much tastier (if that's even possible). While I will not go through taste descriptions etc for the wines (too subjective and everyone will have their own experience), I will tell you some of my favorites. In general Chardonnay isn't really my thing but theirs are amazingly balanced and well rounded (No butter and sawdust here). Sangiacomo Green Acres Chardonnay is exceptionally delicious and I love drinking it with steamed crab and shrimp. Of the many Pinot's Sainstbury offers, the 2016 Lee Vinyard Pinot Noir is pouring nicely. We paired it with BBQ Chicken and mac and cheese. However we're know to drink an entire bottle (or two) of the 2017 Carneros Pinot Noir on a Tuesday night. Definitely helps to relieve the beginnings of a stressful week. Be sure to make a reservation as they do get quite busy. Also they don't really waive the tasting fees unless you buy 3 bottles per person or sign up for a membership. But the commitment is only 2, 3 bottle shipments at a discount and you get the discount immediately. So worth it if you ask me. read more

My partner and I came to Saintsbury because it wasn't one of the large, heavily trafficked wineries and boy did we make the right choice especially given COVID's rising prevalence. I had only been to wineries on the east coast where I live , and this place blows them out of the water. The first thing we noticed was how pristine the area was. The weather this day was absolutely beautiful. It was a little warm outside, but the shade from the trees in the garden was everything I needed. I am not sure if there are other tasting areas, but the garden was picturesque and beautiful. On top of that we had an amazing host, Taylor, who was a great person to be in the presence of. Her warm and bubbly personality rounded out our afternoon with Cabernets and Pinot Noirs as she explained the importance of each bottle/harvest. When I'm back in the area, Saintsbury will be at the top of my list! read more

This place is one of the wineries listed by SF Chronicle as "25 Top Wineries to Visit" this summer. I was able to secure a reservation online 2 days beforehand (got really lucky!). We arrived 30 min before they were opened, but the staff instructed us to walk around the premise as long as we didn't walk past the production as they were actively harvesting and dry freezing grapes in the back. Our knowledgeable server Jacob took care of us and made us feel right at home. He made it clear that it was definitely okay to pick the grapes off the vine and try them! We sat outside under the shade as he explained the different wines. For $40/person, we tasted 5 different wines, starting with a rose made from pinot noir grapes. The rose was delicate and refreshing on a forebodingly warm morning. We then moved onto the 2018 Sangiacomo Green Acres chardonnay blend which consisted of from different chardonnay varietals. Normally I am not a fan of chardonnay but this one was outstanding with the right balance of creaminess and sharpness from fruity flavors. The next chardonnay came from Old Wente clone, which was cool to try because the grapes came from an old vine the taste was more concentrated and less fruity in notes. It was a beautifully crafted chardonnay. We then tried three different pinot noirs - Jacob slipped us a bonus round! All were subtly different from another with delicate yet complex profiles. The Panevino breadsticks were super delicious - as other Yelpers had pointed out. Jacob waived one of our tasting fees since we bought two bottles (they waive 1 tasting fee if you purchase $125 of wine). He had inquired about our next wine reservation and made sure that we would end on time. He even sent us chocolates on our way out - what a treat! We enjoyed our time there even though the wines were pricy. I would recommend visiting again! read more

Had a really pleasant experience at Saintsbury. We visited when we were in town for Bottlerock, and were looking forward to trying out new wineries. To start off with, Saintsbury is gorgeous!!! The tasting is down in an outside deck, and the you are completely surrounded by the most beautiful garden, and have a stellar view of the vineyard. It's pretty private and quiet, which I loved! Strongly recommend coming when the weather is pleasant. The wine was pretty good - only pinot noir and chardonnay but they offered diverse tasting varietals so it never felt boring. Customer service was friendly, but not the most informative/educational wine tasting experience I've had. The pourer was more of a "bring the wine, do a quick spiel, and then get out of your hair" kind of guy. Which isn't bad per se- especially if you are on a date or don't really care about wine. However, I do, and wish we learned a little bit more. Overall: I would recommend, but if you are in Napa only one day, it probably wouldn't make the cut. At $35 it's not cheap, but is a nice experience and the grounds alone make it a cute date location! read more

What a pleasant afternoon! We were greeted for our appointment, by Monica, a welcoming, enthusiastic, and knowledgable wine educator. We warmed up our palates with some cool white wines that went perfectly with the airy and sunny outdoor setting. Next, Monica walked us through the subtle differences among the different Pinot Noirs and we came away with a better understanding of the differences that vineyard locale and a winemaker's skill can have on every bottle. The nuances enabled us to buy different Pinot Noirs and feeling like our favorite wine has more than just one flavor. Saintsbury doesn't yet have a picnic license, or any food service, so make sure you don't come on an empty stomach. There will be plenty of time to eat before, or after, your wine adventure here ...plus you'll be better able to focus on the wine in the moment. read more

Saintsbury is beautifully located with wonderful outdoor seating for tastings. It was one of our many stops during our Napa day. We enjoyed the small-town feel, if you will. It feels less commercialized and much more family-oriented. We were served by Tyler, who was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable and fun. He alone deserves a 5 star review. We liked the wines that we tried, although they weren't our favorites of the day and the tasting prices were the most expensive of our day. Throughout our time here, we noticed that the older gentleman who seemed to be a manager was extremely rude to many people who walked up. Since we were sitting right near the entrance, we could hear all the conversations and were turned off by this. We saw white a few people walk away upset. read more

This review is a bit overdue however I wanted to give Saintsbury team and Tyler a virtual high five for a great experience. I read the information from their website prior to visiting and it allowed myself and my partner understand their offering better. The English garden was quaint and the surrounding wildflowers and changing leaves made for a serene ambiance. Tyler was very knowledgable and also very approachable in the way that he spoke about the wines. There's so much to know about wines but what I do know is that I loved theirs. What a personal wine tasting vineyard! I called ahead and made a reservation for 2. Traffic was awful and we were running behind, but the winery said, no problem. Upon arrival, we were taken to a cozy bench and immediately brought flowers, water, breadsticks and a history of the vineyard and the different regions of their wine. While taking in the views and setting, we could tell that the people visiting were members that repeatedly visited; they were treated like family. And here's why they repeatedly visit: they start you off with their chardonnays and then progress to their pinot noirs and you get to enjoy that tasting journey in this perfect setting with fantastic service. Jacob is such a joy! We came as a wedding party (30+) on early Saturday afternoon and spent a few hours tasting three different wines in the wine cellar. They were kind, informative, and welcoming. I wish we'd had more time to explore the other areas of the venue - everything was gorgeous and had a warm, local feeling about it. If you're looking to actually learn about the wine and how it's made, have a friendly server, enjoy Napa hospitality, this is not the place. Our server was rude and seemed disgruntled that we were even doing a tasting at all, spent so long in between our pours that we ended up seated for 2 hours, and we learned nothing about any of the wines we tried.. We go up to Napa to go wine tasting 2x every month due to my husband's job and this is the worst service we have ever received. 2 stars instead of 1 because we did, unfortunately, love one of the wines and bought a bottle, but we wish we hadn't and would have rather spent our money elsewhere. read more

I stopped here because I used to serve a Saintsbury Pinot Noir at the restaurant I used to work. I called ahead and made an 11:30 appointment for a tour and tasting. They started me with the tasting, but I never ended up getting the tour. I think that's because my server took a group of 4 with him at 11:30, all of whom were together, so he was probably vying for a private experience. Not a big deal, and I'm sure I could have gotten a private tour myself afterward if I had asked, but with over 500 vineyards in the area, I had no time to waste. For $30, I sampled 6 different wines. They sat me down at a table in the courtyard and went back and forth to and from their office to grab the wines to serve me. It was obvious this was because they kept them all in the wine fridge, including the reds. Having the wine served at the proper temperature was a nice touch. Kudos to them. Aside from my non-tour snafu, I didn't particularly care that the guy serving my wine was also simultaneously playing fetch with a slime-ridden tennis ball with his dog, and not because I didn't have his undivided attention, but more from a health standpoint. Somewhat off the beaten path, it's not intuitive that you are where you're supposed to be when you arrive.
