This restaurant hit the spot! On our ski trip to Massanutten, we were looking for some high quality and cheap Chinese food. This definitely hit the spot! I ordered the chicken fried rice and asked for only onions and eggs (personal preference). It was excellent - except the chicken was in large pieces. The onions were also large which was a nice touch! I asked for it to be spicy, and it was somewhat spicy but definitely could have been spicier. I visited the nail salon next to this Chinese food restaurant at lunch time so I decided to place an order. The location has tables and chairs but does not appear to have the dine in option. It was clean and smelled good. The employee was friendly and greeted me upon arrival. We had a variety and the food was hot, fresh, & tasty. Singapore Rice Noodles, Shrimp Fried Rice, Beef Egg Foo Young, steamed shrimp & veggies, fried and pan seared wontons. They were also generous with the portions, condiments, & plasticware/ chopsticks. Need I say more? They are now my go to Chinese food spot when I'm enjoying my timeshare week in Massanutten! Visiting the Elkton, VA area and this is my stop. Whenever I visit, this is my 1st meal. Absolutely love the Pepper Chicken (#47). It's my go to. Then I'll add Shrimp Fried Rice (#56) Let's just say the shrimp is plentiful and so good. The Beef w Broccoli (#32) is my beef option. The broccoli is really fresh and crisp. The beef, a little fatty but good. The place is in a strip mall and most probably just pass on it. Little do you know that this hole in a wall mom and pop Chinese food restaurant is amazing. The decor is dated, but the food is amazing. The staff is direct and they quickly make your orders. Always responsive and the food is made to order. On average, I wait 15 to 20 minutes for my food to be ready and I always pick it up. Been going here for 5 years and love the food, the staff and the humble location. Recently got lunchtime specials of orange chicken lunch meal and general tsos meal and let me tell you it was ice cold when we got home to eat it. Service was horrible because tried calling the restaurant to inform them of the issue and got no answer during business hours! Used to be a good place to eat! It doesn't look like much from the outside, and I thought they might have gone out of business, but they didn't! We ordered egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, Singapore meifun, and hunan shrimp. They were all good and there were plenty for us to eat! The prices were more than reasonable. read more

I checked the yelp reviews before ordering and thought "3.5 stars, it must not be bad" so we ordered. We were staying at Massanutten for a mini weekend vacation. My 9 year old daughter got sweet and sour chicken and woke up at 2:30am sick all over herself. The rest of last night and this morning she was SO sick. We had to cancel our plans for the day (which we had already bought tickets for) and head home early. My daughter is also NEVER sick like this and has only vomited one other time in her life. Got take out from here on a Friday night around 6:30. Over the phone they said it would be 15 minute. When I got there there was a line of 5 people and growing waiting for take out. The two lady's working there seemed quite frazzled. It took about 10 minutes to get my food which normally I don't care about but I had people waiting in the car. With that said onto the food now, which happens to be the worst Chinese (general tsos) I've ever eaten. The egg roll with the combo was tiny, not that that is an issue because the surplus of food in a combo meal is more than enough but just pointing it out. The fried rice was straight up garbage. It was that yellow rice with a couple of peas. The tso itself was more chewy than crispy like they packages up some buffet leftovers. Now I'm from up north so we have a little higher standard in Chinese. Not sure if it different in this area but if it's the only option at least it's edible. read more

Took my family of four tonight...major mistake! The food....my Peking Chicken was literally chicken tenders with a cup of Peking sauce on the side. After I asked about this, I was told the chicken is exactly the same as sweet and sour chicken, but with a different cup of sauce. This also describes fast food chicken nuggets that come with your choice of sauce. But this cost a lot more. The General Tsaos chicken was almost tasteless, featuring sugary sauce and lukewarm, thick over cooked batter concealing tiny bits of chicken. read more

Does not taste like real chinese food spoils by the big city and lots of choices. I have ordered from them several times trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Each time I wished I had not. They try hard and were willing to take the food back and redo but I declined. So they have great customer service and they are friendly the food is ok for food but I normally order Singapore shrimp but I decided to go more simple like shrimp fried rice and well I felt like I could of made it at home or brought frozen and cooked. So this Chinese restaurant is located in a beautiful village near the skyline drive in Shenandoah National forest and probably all good things about this restaurant end with that. I ordered spicy peeking chicken. I have eaten this dish in other Chinese restaurants before and it is usually stir-fried chicken with fried red chili bits. But to be sure I asked the waitress whether the dish was too sweet. She told me negatively and assured me that it was spicy which I liked. When the food was delivered, I found out that 'dish' is actually sweet and sour chicken with deep fried chicken in batter with a very sweet sauce on the side. The sauce was so sweet that I had to eat my rice without it. Overall it was a horrible experience. read more

After reading the only other review on yelp, I had serious reservations about eating at this establishment. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed my lunch. I did take in the lunch buffet instead of ordering off the menu. You couldn't beat the price - $5.95. (Dinner is priced higher, but I didn't enquire on the specifics.) Hot tea was included, but other drinks were an additional cost. This was a "no frills" buffet as far as selection, but what they did have was good. After eating at Massanutten Resort restaurants exclusively for a couple of days, I was ready for some "cheap eats" that were actually quite tasty. All of the items I sampled were pretty fresh - not too greasy, and enough sauce so the items weren't dried out on the buffet line. One tip I would definitely give if one was going to get the buffet... go when it's likely to be busier. The items get consumed & replaced quickly enough that they aren't dried up. read more

The lunch buffet food was typical Chinese dishes like Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Chow Mein, ect. Definitely not bad food, but nothing special either. The price was super cheap, only $5.95 for lunch buffet. However, I went in the summer and there were two flies that kept flying around and I was concerned they had already landed on the food trays in the buffet. That was upsetting. I don't think I would go there again, although they do get consistently good business around lunch time. I guess flies don't bother everyone. Try to go after 1pm and there will be more people, which helps with the freshness of the food since they have to replenish more often. Good enough for the cheap price though! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I went by the limited and outdated reviews on Yelp for this place. Decided to take a shot anyway. I'm glad I did. We ordered the ribs, spring rolls, hot and sour soup, chicken with broccoli, and Singapore rice noodles. All were good for where we are (middle of Virginia country). We are here on vacation and would definitely order from here again next time we visit. BTW, I am Chinese and I grew up in a Chinese restaurant. I am a tough judge of Chinese food. read more

Were staying at Massanutten and wanted something savory without having to pay the resort's inflated prices. This really hit the spot! The rice was light and fluffy without being dark and greasy like you find in some Chinese restaurants. My children got the chicken fried rice, it was moist but not greasy, the vegetables were firm, the portions were great and they both said it had great flavor. My husband and I shared the delicious garlic chicken, they customized the vegetables for us, and we had more than enough in one order for both of us to eat. We also enjoyed the spring rolls, which were hot, tasty and not greasy. We will definitely order from here again the next time we are in town-I hope more folks who visit Massanutten give this a try if they are looking for an alternative to the resort food! read more

We used to order here all the time. Today was the poorest excuse for customer service I have encountered. The man who claimed to be a manager was rude and disrespectful even after they constantly screw up our to go orders..... and we've never asked for a freebie or re-do . We often don't receive sauce with the wontons . My husband went in to just get a couple sweet n sour sauces. .50 cents a piece ... keep in mind we spend on the low end 100.00 a month there. He said 5.00 minimum on card and when he brought his attention all the mistakes we've never said anything about he said you can have one sauce. Last night when my friend and I went to Peking China Restaurant we had an awful experience. First of all, when we walked in most of the lights weren't functioning for whatever reason. We were led to one of the two tables that did had lighting overhead. However, during our meal, our light went out and the owner (also our waitress) came over and beat on it with a long stick. Meanwhile, stuff from the ceiling was falling into our food. In the end, no improvement was made by this beating and the light remained off. As for the food--we ordered 2 separate entrees and they ended up coming on a single plate. The portions were very small. The rice measured to be about a cup between the two of us and also the two entrees would've maybe been big enough to feed a child. I would far from recommend this restaurant to anyone. So SORRY VA. We arrived there Sunday night just after 7:00 p.m. They had a nice-looking small buffet. We both had the buffet and were both hit with food poisoning that night. Diarrhea for both of us, although I also got hit with severe stomache cramps and knots on top of it. It hit me as soon as I ate my last bite. We were both in pretty bad shape that night. The lesson learned was not to eat a buffet that has been sitting out, despite how appetizing it may look. I'm sure if we would have ordered something freshly cooked off the menu, and not the buffet, it would have been fine. read more
