came here with an open mind after mixed reviews and, honestly, i liked it! i think that there were a lot of options and the food was pretty good. i like to try a little bit of everything so i really enjoyed the variety. my favs were the honey chicken, general tsos, and pepper chicken as well as the teriyaki chicken, crab rangoon, cake, and jello. surprised about the reviews here because as a foodie i actually enjoyed it haha. definitely looking forward to come back :)

There aren't many buffets left in this area so that's a plus for them. They have a pretty decent selection from American to Chinese classics. Ladies who work here are always pleasant and attentive.

Our server was fast and friendly but not overbearing. All of our food came out in waves, and at a good pace so we could enjoy it all. Everything was hot and fresh tasting, and the portions were perfect (had plenty to take home for leftovers). The interior looks as you would expect an older local Chinese spot to look. Some traditional decor and feel. Only constructive feedback would be about the booth cushions being a bit beat up but not terrible and wouldn't ruin the experience.

Small bar at the entrance, deceptively large dining room, and an old school menu similar to the previous joints I tried. The name on the signage out front differed from that on the menu, so I asked: the official name is Gum Bo, not Gumbo. General Gao's Chicken (on a combo): Shy of crisp, large of chunk, borderline moist, and mild on the sauce. Average. Pork Fried Rice (on the combo): Varying shades of darkness on the color, faintly moist, just a bit of old timey flavor, with an atypical light spiciness. A little above average. Egg Roll (on the combo): Celery and cabbage mix, with mini cubes of pink pork. Not moist but not bad. A little above average. Food ultimately was humdrum. Not bad by any means; just kinda typical and slightly better than average. Could've been what I ordered, could've been an off day, could've been my mood based on getting a lousy seat (on top of another table when there were plenty of other empty ones available), or could've been Chinese food fatigue from too many very recent (and better) Chinese meals. I've seen so much promise in the reviews and photos here and elsewhere, so I'm not giving up on Gum Bo; just a little short of expectation.

After waiting 30 minutes at a table, we transitioned to the bar and she yelled you're gonna wait 30 more minutes here. She started to get mouthy so we went to leave and say goodbye to the band and she followed us, harassing us saying bye bye over and over again, very loudly, being extremely aggressive. Every person could hear her. We told her to have another drink as we left. We will not be coming back nor will any of our friends. Absolutely unacceptable service and treatment. We would give less than one star if we could. Update: As we know one face isn't the whole business. Steph reached out to us to rectify the issue which was so commendable. Will change the rating because of that! Better experience than expected. Thank you Steph!

Well my favorite place was on vacation so I wanted Chinese this past Saturday. Called Ying for take out ! Was put on hold than hung up on . Ok call back put my order in . Brought it home . The chicken fingers seemed like they were out under maybe a heat lamp for hours and the ends were hard as a rock . Terriaki Steak was like chewing shoe leather cold . Spare ribs horrible . So that was the second time everything was overcooked. Only thing I can say positive was the portions are big . I will definitely stay with my regular place . Should have brought it all back . Half of it or more ended up in the trash . This is honestly maybe the 3 rd time I have written a food review. I just had to share my opinion.

Wah May has been slinging chow mein and other old school Chinese goodies since 1961 from what looks…read morelike a former residence. Surprisingly, no bar. Unsurprisingly, plenty of combination plates. Chow Mein Sandwich: They have several choices for this regional specialty, which can also be had as a chop suey sandwich. Proteins include chicken, beef, mushroom, pork strip, and even shrimp or scallop. I went with chicken. What arrived was a humongous assemblage of thick-cut celery, tender chicken strips, and onions, with crunchy flat noodles interspersed and a thin, dark brown gravy (neither sweet nor salty) underneath. The bun was basically a garnish, so this demanded fork and knife eating. I think of it as a crunchier Chinese version of a hot turkey sandwich, with the bun the least important element but what makes it unique. As chow mein, good flavor and good texture, coming in well above average to near-elite. Shrimp and Lobster Sauce (on a combo): Five shrimp, ever so slightly overdone but serviceable, buried in a faintly sweet sauce with a more potent dark black bean base, with a few swirls of egg white. Scallions on top were more than a garnish, providing a savory counterpoint to the sweetness. Well above average. Egg Roll (on the combo): I have to admit, there are times I'm not fully certain on whether an egg roll filling is celery, cabbage, or a mix. This was NOT one of those times. The celery brigade can rejoice, as this one goes well past "celery forward" and onto "celery in your face," and I'm talking more in your face than an Elaine Benes Christmas card. Dark green, thick chunks, all with some crunch, and fully loaded. Baby shrimp and pork can also be found lurking, but this is all about the dominant celery. The wrapper brought a bit of greasiness (though within tolerance) but a strong, pleasant flavor as well. This unique egg roll bordering on subgum-in-a-shell is an absolute must-try, and I liked it to an extent, but wouldn't want it regularly. It's an acquired taste, so it's tough to score: overall, probably average, but a really fascinating average. Pork Fried Rice: A little dry in spots but dark of color with flavor to match and an acceptable amount of pork, onion, and bean sprouts. Above average. Very enjoyable meal, good food, different food, and a place I'm eager to revisit. Fairhaven is just over the bridge from New Bedford and boasts some stunning works of architecture in its town hall, Millicent Library, and Unitarian Memorial Church, all right around the corner from Wah May and not to be missed if you're into beautiful historical buildings.

The dining room is very attractive and nicely decorated, and the servers were polite, friendly, and attentive. Our drink orders were taken quickly, and the caipirinhas were both delicious. We made our first trip to the buffet and bar and there were so many choices! Hearts of palm, stuffed grape leaves, everything you could want for a salad bar, cheeses, hot sides, traditional Brazilian meat dishes, cheese rolls, fish, clam chowder and much, much more. While we were enjoying these items back at our table, we also turned our cards to green and strted experiencing the freshly sliced meats. Such a variety of beef cuts, lamb, chicken, sausage, and more. It was all super high quality, very tender, well seasoned, and I honestly don't know which were my favorites. Meat service was frequent - we were never without food and really never had to wait. They just kept coming and coming, and we kept trying more succulent meats. We finished our meal with the most delicious grilled pineapple and also the cheese with honey. Yum! Although there is a lovely dessert menu, we were too full to partake, and the pineapple and cheese hit the spot. The price for the unlimited buffet and meats is just under $50 per person, which at first seems a bit pricey, but when you look at all of the options and the quality of both the buffet and the meats, it is really a great deal! this is the third Brazilian restaurant I've been to, having been to one in Providence and one in Ogunquit, and Churrascaria Tropeiro's Grill is by far the best out of the three. I will definitely be back!
