I ONLY order from Grand Wok since first ordering couple years ago and NEVER have they let me dow! The only woman I usually see or hear on the phone is very kind and patient my orders are never wrong the food is delicious always fresh tasting and the portions are great! I just had an experience the other day that justified my love for this restaurant! I had an order that got delivered something I often order but there was something different in the color of the beef it wasn't as dark as usual. when I called the woman not only said they would deliver another order but also actually took the time to explain why the beef was different which made sense regarding the amount of soy sauce usually used etc....the new delivery came pretty fast. if you want good Chinese food don't bother with anywhere else in the area. you won't be disappointe! read more

Not good. Hate to say it, but ya, not good. It's too bad too cause I know it's been there for a long time, hate to say anything negative, but it's true. Ordered appetizer chicken fingers ... they were very small, like 1/2 the normal size other places make (not in quantity, but the actual size of the chicken finger). I also got from the appetizers an order of teriyaki steak ... they were also teeny-tiny (really weird), but the bigger problem with them is that they kinda smelled odd, not sure if that's their usual smell or if the meat was actually old (I'm hoping it's that that's their usual smell I don't want to think that I ate old meat ), they were also not as saucy & sweet like they should be. And I got a strained beef chow mein ... it was " OK", definitely not great, I have had much much better. Mum & hubby got some other stuff, hubby's was OK-ish, Mum said she wasn't impressed. The place is small and very out-of-date. Pictures of the food are all faded and washed out. I do not believe you can sit down and eat in there. There was 2 tables tipped over on their sides and another table up against a wall too with 3 chairs turned backwards near it. A lot of religious things all over the walls, which was nice and OK, but almost a whole wall of Mother Theresa pictures, which again, is fine ... just something that I noticed. The tables not being able to be sat at to eat, not sure if that's still effects from the pandemic and they just stayed like that, not sure, but you pretty much cannot sit down to eat there. Do NOT go here. This has been my favorite Chinese restaurant for 20+ years. It used to be 4+ stars for me BUT it seems ever since the pandemic started they periodically got worse and worse. First they raised prices then portion sizes got smaller then the quality of food preparation and recipes changed and now I gave it 1 last chance and they raised the lunch meals by like $3 per meal and of the 3 meals ordered nothing was good about it. To be honest it tastes as if it was cooked yesterday then reheated it didn't taste fresh even the duck sauce was watered down which is crazy. I will for now on go to my second go to option which is Kams cuisine in Acushnet area. They're a little pricey but the food quality is better. Tip for grand wok. Stop being greedy and cutting corners because you just lost a long time customer and that's unfortunate. read more

They used to have good serving sizes, and didn't fluff with rice. Tonight I ordered beef teriyaki, chicken fingers and an egg roll. Egg roll was good. The chicken fingers were tiny and I got 4 of them. My order of beef teriyaki was only 2 pieces in a container of rice. I didn't want rice I wanted beef teriyaki. This used to be my favorite place. I could say that I am obsessed with wanton soup, but that would be an understatement. So much so that it will definitely be part of my last meal. I never was sure of where I would order my last wanton soup from, and now I can finally say that I've found it. Grand Wok's wanton soup rivals all others I have tried before. Their broth is wonderful. Not that yellow, oily crap most Chinese joints ladle out. It's a wonderfully flavorful, miso-like broth. Their wantons aren't doughy or slimy, and the meat in the wanton is flavorful and a generous size. Cabbage, bok choy, carrots and pork dance around the broth and are a wonderful addition. I can't say enough good things about this wanton soup. I'll probably get some tonight. But the delicious food doesn't end there. They have some specialties that aren't seen at your typical Chinese takeout place. For example the first time I ordered, I got a combination plate, with Cilantro Chicken and chicken wings as a side. I had never seen cilantro chicken on a combo plate before and I was intrigued. It was so good! It was slices of chicken, red and green pepper, baby corn cilantro and a savory sauce. The pork fried rice was also good, but the chicken wings were awesome! And it was a pleasant surprise to see 2 wings ( large ones at that ) when I opened the bag! They had a panko crust which was a nice change and seemed to be fried then baked. Yummy. Next time my wanton craving hit, my roommate and I ordered a large shrimp lo mein, egg rolls and wanton soup... then proceeded to watch the Biggest Loser for good measure. The lo mein was great. Filled with nice sized shrimp and chock full of veggies... just the way I like. The place is in a crappy part of New Bedford, but get over it! I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. I've lived 2 miles away but wasn't until 6 months we tried the place. The prices are reasonable and the food is just GOOD! The lunch portions on the combo are a little small but then again it's lunch and it's cheap. The boneless ribs are incredible! The sauce in the ribs is absolutely delicious! Crab Rangoon taste fresh, crispy shell, tasty inside. Honestly I enjoy phone ordering she speaks well on the phone. The food was well prepared here, though they DO use MSG (mono sodium glutamate) here which is most unfortunate. We were told that very little was used and it had to be to create their unique flavors. Absolutely love this restaurant. I have eaten here a handful of times and I have yet to be disappointed. I almost always order the sweet and sour pork. The pork is always crisp and never soggy. Today I got the usual plus some hot and sour soup. I must say this is my new favorite hot and sour soup. Super flavorful with a kick to it as well. The staff is friendly and keep the space clean. The prices are more than reasonable for the portions. Highly recommend. Will probably be back in a few days. read more

Grand Wok is pretty much unanimously the best take out Chinese restaurant if you ask me, any of family and friends, and it's that's the truth Ruth. Their General Tso's is amazing and they've even got a tofu version for all you vegetarians out there. Their beef and chicken teriyaki are always tasty. This is not really a place to have a meal but more so pick up your order or have it delivered. If you've never ordered from here, give it a shot, I think you'll be pleased. read more

Grand Wok is the best TAKE-OUT (only) Chinese food in the greater New Bedford area. It's located East of the Rockdale/Kempton lights, just before the fire station on the right. Service is prompt and courteous, and delivery is $1. Many people will not go here just because it's located in the West end. When my 4 year old daughter bit into her crab rangoon she bit into what looks like a a used condom. I called the restaurant obviously angry, scared and beyond disgusted. The woman who answered the phone told me it was a rubber glove that they had lost in the food and couldn't find. I went in with an officer to see these rubber gloves that look like a used condom. I was shown a rubber glove when I said that was not the same thing they brought out a first aid kit and showed me a smaller item that resembles a condom. Again they told me they lost it in the food and couldn't find it. This story doesn't sit well with me. This rangoon was shaped differently and the rubber filled the inside of the shell with a little of the cream cheese mixture on top of it. If they lost something like that in the food why didn't they toss it out? Common sense would tell you that if you are running a business you wouldn't want a customer biting into something like that. Instead they cooked it up and fed it to their customer only to cause a whole lot of fear and anger? Doesn't make sense to me at all. I reported them to the board of health and followed up with them on four occasions to find out what the repercussions would be. All they are doing is re-educating them on food safety. Since not much is being done about this I want to give other's a warning.They have other food safety violations it's public record through the board of health. When you eat here you are eating at your own risk. In order to leave a review I had to give a star otherwise I would give it nothing. read more
