The carne asada fries are amazing -- perfectly seasoned meat, crispy fries, and that messy, cheesy goodness that makes you forget calories exist. Straight-up comfort food heaven. The service was super friendly and surprisingly quick. Bonus points for the free unlimited chips -- not just filler chips either, they're fire asf, fresh, and perfectly salted. Oh my heavens, just 3 stars?! What the H is wrong with you people?! This is 5 Stars all the way!!! I just moved here after spending my last 25 years in Southern California. I have searched high and low for a place that serves handmade tortillas and chips. And this it! They are so ridiculously delicious that I went two days in a row. Their lengua is absolutely divine and their chips are as addictive as heroin. I assume. I've never tried heroin but from what I understand, it's very addictive. But I digress. All the salsas are scrumptious and the Staff is so nice I had both soft and hard tacos, haven't picked a favorite yet, as well as a cheese enchilada. My son loved the burrito and my fiancé was disappointed she only ordered the Child's quesadilla. Next time, she'll definitely order the bigger one. Great burritos. So far I've ve gotten the Chile verde and Chile Colorado dry burritos, they come with rice, choice of beans and meat, with either a dry version (meaning no sauce on top) or "drenched" in a mild sauce. I'm old school so I prefer the dry version, but the pictures on the wall and pictures taken from other customers and posted on Yelp hint that those too are flavorful. Anyway, my take out bag had a little bag of chips and a saLsa dip, along with the burrito and napkins. Free of charge.. Oh and don't let me forget about their aguas frescas. Today they had horchata (rice milk with sugar and cinnamon) and fresa (strawberry). The fresa is so good, especially now during tthese hot summer days. A mask is required inside the restaurant while ordering. (Obviously one can take it off to eat) or you can sit outside. They have hand sanitizer at the front counter. No soda refills at the time. All the workers are wearing masks and there is a pexie glass shield at the cashiers. I felt safe. Enjoy. read more

I have eaten at this establishment several times over the years. If I could rate this a 3.5, I would. The food and service has been pleasant and the employees always appear busy and hard-working. It's always busy during lunch, so they must be doing something right. I have only eaten their super burritos served wet and regular. A wet burrito is served with a enchilada sauce over the burrito. The only feedback I would give is to reconsider offering the salsa bar with open self serve tortilla chip bin during the pandemic. This seems like a bad idea and can spread germs. read more

I understand establishments get busy and overwhelmed with customers but that does not give you the right to be mean to the ones waiting to be helped. I tried calling in my order and was told it was going to take 30mins; I asked if I can place an order and was told to hold on. After 16mins the cashier finally got back on the line and said we're extremely - by this time, I was in line waiting to place my order. When I got to the register, I asked him why did he have me on hold so long, he said people were coming in and he had to take their orders. WTH! Aren't I not a customer? So I'm thinking, if you're not going to take phone orders, don't answer the phone! So I place my order and this jaycat has a major attitude. He totals my order, I gesture my card, he snatched my card y'all!!! So at this point I'm bout ready to go off but I kept it classy. After the transaction, he places the receipt on the counter and says "we're only human" - duh. Don't insult my intelligence. I then had to give him a schooling about on customer service. So now I'm sitting right up front watching them prepare my food. I'm watching them like hawks. He's being super nice to everyone. I want my food and best believe I will not be back. EXTREMELY BAD AND NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE: About a month ago, I ordered a wet chicken burrito and found a piece of nasty and rusty metal in my food. I bit into the burrito and thought it was over cooked chicken I was chewing, but after a while it didn't seem right. I chewed on it a few times and then spit the food out and found a metal piece the size of a nail in my burrito. Felt absolutely disgusted and had a very nasty taste in my mouth for the next few weeks. I contacted my doctor to make sure there wasn't any health threat or anything of that sort. I emailed the owner of the restaurant and explained the entire story and sent him a picture of the metal piece I found. He said he will refund the money and file a claim with his insurance because of the issue that occurred. After not responding, I kept emailing the owner to get a response and he finally refunded my order close to a month later. And when I asked him about the claim, his excuse was he's waiting to hear back from his suppliers and will get back to him. I still haven't heard back from him and instead filed a complaint with Solano County Health Inspection. It's a shame that this occurred and Pelayo's just ignores their customers and doesn't take responsibility for their actions. Take your business elsewhere, where the handling of food is safe and healthy. read more

I was hesitant in co.ing here due to the average rating, and the pictures looked ok. (The food didn't look good in the picture ) I was running errands in the area and was hungry. So I gave it a chance. I ordered carnitas burrito and add sour cream. I was surprised considering the reviews. It was a really good burrito. It had lots of flavor and a good ratio of ingredients and the Pico is amazing. Today, same situation, ordered a shrimp burrito and add sour cream..........OMG! It was amazing....like really amazing. I eat a lot of burritos....this is definitely in top 5 lifetime! The shrimp was seasoned, they didn't skimp on the shrimp, an excellent amount of ingredients, OMG! And the spicy pico!!!!! And the best part, the price! $10 bucks for a really good burrito is almost unheard of in the bay. The shrimp burrito you pay like $2 more for. Definitely worth it! Solid spot that deserves more than the 3 stars it currently holds on Yelp. We came in on a busy Sunday night with a line halfway to the door. Outside they have a sign posted "cashier wanted", and you could tell on the poor guys face trying to work the line AND cook the food that they were severely short staffed. All the food was great. We especially liked the queso and the chips are all made fresh in-house (not like some places that just opt for a Costco-sized bag of tortilla chips to dole out to their customers). The biggest call out is that we had a small miscommunication on our order where we thought we ordered the quesadilla "plate" for the kiddos but when the order came out it was for an appetizer. They happily corrected it and were so friendly and nice about the whole thing. Good stopover spot. Give them a shot! read more

Order a carne asada burrito that I had to pay $.95 more than any other meat and for what reason I don't know. It was awful. The meat was under cooked and under seasoned. I took it out, but even the cilantro rice was bland. I asked for spicy salsa, but was given a mild watered down salsa. They gave me chips, which was great, but they were thin and kept breaking. Pelayo's has always been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Fairfield. Their super burritos are the best. You can get them either wet or dry, I always get it dry but everyone who gets it wet says it's so good too! The nachos are another one of my favorites, I always grab extra chips because there's still toppings left after all the original chips are gone. You also can never go wrong with the tacos either. They used to have a happy hour which was the best! I don't think they do that anymore sadly. Also they started giving out really small chip bags to go which can barely fit any chips in.
