I have been repeatedly visiting this restaurant for many years. My motive for coming here is my favorite Lengua Taco prepared to perfection with pica de gallo. Stands out as one of the best. Service was good. Clean and peaceful dining.

Food at Pelayo's was just okay. We've eaten at the restaurant two or three times. It's not our first choice for Mexican food, but we ordered there because delivery was available through DoorDash. Overall experience was satisfactory.

Great burritos. So far I've ve gotten the Chile verde and Chile Colorado dry burritos, they come with rice, choice of beans and meat, with either a dry version (meaning no sauce on top) or "drenched" in a mild sauce. I'm old school so I prefer the dry version, but the pictures on the wall and pictures taken from other customers and posted on Yelp hint that those too are flavorful. Anyway, my take out bag had a little bag of chips and a saLsa dip, along with the burrito and napkins. Free of charge.. Oh and don't let me forget about their aguas frescas. Today they had horchata (rice milk with sugar and cinnamon) and fresa (strawberry). The fresa is so good, especially now during tthese hot summer days. A mask is required inside the restaurant while ordering. (Obviously one can take it off to eat) or you can sit outside. They have hand sanitizer at the front counter. No soda refills at the time. All the workers are wearing masks and there is a pexie glass shield at the cashiers. I felt safe. Enjoy.

I literally just ordered and received my DoorDash order of a burrito and some chips. The chips and salsa or separate, and in a separate container. When I opened up the container with the chips, it was 90% crumbs. Very disappointed, as the quality of the food here is good, but to pay seven dollars for some crumbs is ridiculous. Maybe next time

Disgusting!! My husband found two hair in his burrito!!! Never going to order from here again!

I have eaten at this establishment several times over the years. If I could rate this a 3.5, I would. The food and service has been pleasant and the employees always appear busy and hard-working. It's always busy during lunch, so they must be doing something right. I have only eaten their super burritos served wet and regular. A wet burrito is served with a enchilada sauce over the burrito. The only feedback I would give is to reconsider offering the salsa bar with open self serve tortilla chip bin during the pandemic. This seems like a bad idea and can spread germs.

I understand establishments get busy and overwhelmed with customers but that does not give you the right to be mean to the ones waiting to be helped. I tried calling in my order and was told it was going to take 30mins; I asked if I can place an order and was told to hold on. After 16mins the cashier finally got back on the line and said we're extremely - by this time, I was in line waiting to place my order. When I got to the register, I asked him why did he have me on hold so long, he said people were coming in and he had to take their orders. WTH! Aren't I not a customer? So I'm thinking, if you're not going to take phone orders, don't answer the phone! So I place my order and this jaycat has a major attitude. He totals my order, I gesture my card, he snatched my card y'all!!! So at this point I'm bout ready to go off but I kept it classy. After the transaction, he places the receipt on the counter and says "we're only human" - duh. Don't insult my intelligence. I then had to give him a schooling about on customer service. So now I'm sitting right up front watching them prepare my food. I'm watching them like hawks. He's being super nice to everyone. I want my food and best believe I will not be back. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

My husband reminded him that he asked when ordering and I again referenced the menu saying 1 basket is included,he said the policy changed and there was a sign on the wall somewhere. My husband had asked for his chimi to have red sauce and I had asked for mine with green, they both came mixed with both sauces on them. The red sauce wasn't very good and it was weird being mixed. My chimi wasn't very well cooked, kinda doughy in the middle. We didn't get a receipt so we couldn't reference the amount we were charged for each thing, but by menu prices it should have come out to about $55. The amount they charge was $80. $80 for 2 chimichangas,a beer and a ranch water and No chips??

Walking in, I was immediately greeted with smiling and welcoming vibes from the ladies at the front and told to take a seat wherever I'd like to sit. The hit for me is that MENUDO is available on a non-weekend! I've been craving it and when I ordered it (on a Tuesday), I hoped it would be fresh and it was! The broth was savory and flavorful as is but with the added oregano, dried peppers, onions, and cilantro to my liking- it just made it even better! The best part was that you can either order it with pata or no pata. Shoooot, you don't have to ask me twice! I said I want the pata hahahaha that with tender and not overcooked tripe was just what I was wanting! If you love menudo, this is a place I'd recommend and go to get it regularly. The MICHELADA MARISCADA is tasty! It's a mixture of seafood in a sweet and tangy sauce. For those who do not like spice, this is a great option. I was with someone who doesn't like spicy food and isn't a big fan of Mexican food but MAN! she killed the entire plate! So now we have a place that we both can really enjoy together. Will be back!!

The chicken quesadilla really set it off for me as well. It was flavorful, nice portion size and I enjoyed the dip that came with it also. The Lows: The food was kinda expensive. It was about $60 for a to go order of 6 tacos and a quesadilla and a drink. While the food was good, not sure if the price was worth it considering all of the other Mexican food options nearby. Also, the tacos didn't come with any sides (rice, beans, etc.) which was unfortunate for the price. The In-Between: We found this place on Instagram based on a video review someone did. The parking was a little tough. The service was cool for our to go order.

Second they offered a 2016 bottle of Cabernet on the drink menu but didn't have it and tried selling us 2023 bottle of bogle. for the food and drinks we ended up having a cocktail and a couple of beers. for the appetizer we had bacon wrapped cheese, stuffed shrimp with a cheese sauce. Very delicious then for our main entrée we ordered lobster enchiladas I originally wanted the gold leaf hamburger, but they were out of gold so I just had a regular hamburger with fries which was also very delicious, but I found a wooden skewer that looked deep fried and got put in the bag of french fries that could have been very dangerous if I hadn't paid attention it, luckily I caught it in time so they took off one beer from the bill and then for dessert we had flan with fresh mint blueberries and strawberries. We felt the mint was overpowering to the flan. And for the staff. There was only one bartender and seemed to be swamped the whole time and the serving staff very good people zero complaints with them.

Unfortunately, the food is where things fell apart. When I walked in, I asked if they had a super burrito since I didn't see it on the menu. The gentleman taking my order said they did, so I ordered a carne asada super burrito. A regular burrito on the menu was listed at $8.99, but my super burrito came out to a little over $16 after tax. I also noticed Yelp lists the super burrito at $10.99, so maybe the prices have changed, but that's still a pretty big jump from the regular burrito. The burrito itself was huge, but after the first few bites, I was honestly disappointed. The carne asada was unusually stringy and fatty, which isn't something I've ever experienced with carne asada burritos before. I kept eating, expecting to get to the guacamole, sour cream, and salsa, but by the halfway point I decided to cut the burrito open. It turned out almost all of those ingredients were packed into the very bottom instead of being distributed throughout. The guacamole also had a sour taste that didn't seem right. I also noticed the burrito I received looked nothing like the photos posted here on Yelp, so I'm not sure if the recipe has changed since those pictures were taken. As someone who loves burritos and rarely passes one up, this was, unfortunately, one to forget. The free fountain drink and chips were a nice bonus, but they couldn't make up for the burrito itself. I genuinely wish this restaurant the best because the staff were excellent, but the food just didn't live up to my expectations.

I asked to add jalapeños- they said that would cost an extra $2. That is crazy. I know food prices are rising but jalapeños are still inexpensive - I've eaten at hundreds of Mexican places - not one ( except Taco Hell - Bell- ) has charged me for jalapeños. So after taking my order he told me to come back in 15 minutes - like standing there and waiting was going to cost them money - how rude. Another bad 1st - being told I can't stay and wait for my order at a place I ordered from - WTF? Also the prices are too high - I can get burritos in San Francisco for $12 and they're great - as I did yesterday at a street fare - I thought $7.95 was too cheep for a burrito - but $18 in a small town? The burrito better be best tasting ever - writing this while I sit in my car. When I walked in the restaurant it was quiet - Saturday at 8:20 pm in the summer - was dead and it still takes them 15 to twenty minutes to make a burrito? That is crazy. So the ambience did not impress me that's for sure. What could improve? How about treating your customers who come into a place for the first time nice and not ask them to come back? How about not charging for jalapeños when every. other Real ( Taco Bell in NOT Mexican food) Mexican restaurant does not charge for them??? Update - the young man who took my order seemed like he did NOT want to be there - and was not attentive. When I picked up my order there were two women who were friendly and nice to me - so I added a star. The burrito itself - the beef had a excellent taste and the refried beans were good ( yes - I have had bad refried beans before ) so the burrito tasted good but on the bland side as no salsa was inside the burrito. Etc when the first guy took my order and told me jalapeños were an extra $2 I said no to the extra but did request extra salsa - all I got was a small - very small container - I like my Mexican food spicy - and this was not - tho had the potential to be great with some heat - spice - the salsa/ more of a sauce than salsa - had an excellent flavor but no the mild side for me but if had a lot of it - it would have worked as it did have a good to excellent flavor - so it gets only two stars - had excellent potential to be great - but initial bad service from the male staff and charging for jalapeños and very little salsa killed it - can not recommend
