I came in here for drinks and appetizers before I went to go see a play. I initially thought we would just sit at the bar and eat, but they do not have a seated bar area so you do have to sit at a table. But it was easy enough to get a table for two that day - there was maybe a 5 minute wait. Mama Por Dios was quite the experience! And in the best way possible. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into every single detail of the restaurant. In addition to the excellent service, this place was beyond beautiful. Even the bathroom area. There were so many spots to take cute pictures. This would be a great place for a girls night or date night. I ordered a lychee on the beach - which they made table side. And not pictured, but they set our drink on fires which was beyond cool. The chips and guacamole were good. And the cauliflower was amazing. Mama x Dios is a perfect example of a restaurant that seems more focused on creating an Instagram-worthy appearance than delivering a memorable dining experience. The restaurant features a large bar in the center, yet guests cannot simply sit there and order a drink. If the bar is not intended to function as a bar, it raises the question of why it occupies the centerpiece of the restaurant. It appears to be more for show than for service. When we asked the manager what makes the restaurant a "modern Mexican restaurant," the explanation was simply that it is "modern." There was no clear vision, culinary concept, or meaningful answer behind the label. The prices are surprisingly high for the quality and experience provided. Even more confusing, the menu includes garlic bread, which feels completely out of place in a Mexican restaurant and only adds to the identity confusion. A beautiful interior can attract customers once, but great food, value, and service are what bring them back. Unfortunately, the restaurant seems to prioritize style over substance. If you're looking for flavorful Mexican food, reasonable prices, and a more enjoyable dining experience, we would recommend Chevy's next door. My review is not based on our waitress as she was great! The food itself was decent. Nothing special, for the price I truly thought we would have something yummy. The environment is clean, aesthetically pleasing. But I truly did not understand the theme. Lemon, ocean, and random stuff playing in the background. I didn't love that they charge $35 for singing happy birthday, for 30 seconds. Yes 30, seconds and no you cannot make any music request. We saw the videos of influencers dining here (and we even saw some posing for their phones by the bathrooms) talking about this place. We also saw the reviews on yelp that were pointing to the contrary. We decided to give it an honest chance and a group of us went last night (Saturday night). This was our experience. One of the first things you notice outside is the sign saying there is a two hour sitting limit at your table. Then when you first walk in you're hit by a wall of music. It feels like you are entering a club rather than a restaurant. The staff at the front is very nice and professional. We were taken to our table and 25minutes later our waiter arrived. He took our drinks order and left. Other people showed up on occasion to refill water and bring water containers to the table. Some bread was dropped off which was nice. 42 minutes later our drinks arrived. While we were drinking water and eating bread our waiter participated in several birthday celebrations. This involved the music being pumped up to eleven. Bear in mind that the music was already at a solid nine with the base thumping on the regular. So when a birthday kicks off you get the full treatment. Also the waiters are all occupied with that so service stops. Since there were parties all night you can imagine what that was like. So yes, nearly an hour after we arrived our waiter finally decided to ask what we would like to eat. Since we were starving we ordered appetizers, our main courses and some more drinks so we'd have something to eat while waiting for our food to be prepared. We made it clear that the appetizers were to come first and he said he of course and that he understood. A few more birthday celebrations later about twenty minutes later the appetizers started arriving. It came in a couple of waves with only one of our party not getting theirs. Less than five minutes later our main courses arrived. There wasn't even enough space on the table for all the food especially since there were empty glasses and plates that nobody was coming around to clean off. So we started stacking things on the bench next to us doing our own table bussing. We asked the runner why the main courses were coming out now since the same runner that delivered the appetizers.She just shrugged and ran off. About ten minutes after our main dishes arrived our friend finally received his appetizer. No, I'm not joking. The food was "ok." The filet mignon was just a sliver of meat, not even an inch thick on a slice of onion. It looked like a slightly thick slice of sausage except the filet had no flavor. The mole was definitely not mole. The shrimp that was on top was over cooked and dried out. The lobster enchiladas were small and didn't have much lobster. The rice and beans were completely unappetizing looking. Other people had similar issues with their dishes unfortunately. Our party mentioned the octopus was great, the bread served in the beginning was good, the appetizer of cheese fondue was good. The chicken and shrimp on the fajitas was dry, and the lobster on the lobster spaghetti was dry. The mole was definitely an 'American' flare. Wrapping up our experience when we get our checks in our little pirate box even though we were six people table that paid in 3 different checks, they still tacked on a mandatory 18% tip plus an extra 3% for using a credit card to pay. In summary this was a disappointing experience from the protray on social media and the restaurants website. For a place advertising themselves as a high end modern Mexican restaurant it was anything but except for the prices. Also, at $16 a shot for Jameson that's just crazy. If this was truly a high end restaurant where the service is impeccable than I would have no issue with that. But at a place that is pretending to be such it's just insulting. We've ate at plenty of those and it's worth it. I would not expect modern Mexican to include hamburgers, spaghetti, or traditional ribeye steaks as restaurant fare. It felt like a confusion or at least lack of commitment to the theme. Sadly, this was a prime example of instagram influencers not reflecting reality. The service was extremely poor. The food was mediocre at best. Honestly we would have had a better experience with far better service at the Chevy's next door where the service is better and the food matches expectations. I've been to MPD a few times. I held off on reviewing because my experiences were uneven. I'm glad I gave it a few tries. I will say that their verde sauce here is one of the best I've had. I love me some verde sauce and these guys bring the noise. I especially enjoy the verde crema sauce. OMG. Their Chile Quillas Shrimp with Crema Verde is super good. Also this Tres Leche French toast was addicting. MPD has good to great food. I rated service a 3. We came right before 2 and advised us that they were in a changeover from brunch to dinner. We were fine with that. We ordered dinner type food. What we didn't expect was to wait 1 hour for our food. Most fine dining places shut down for the turnover, but MPD stayed open. Better to close and reopen for dinner. The saving grace is that we've been back for brunch a few times without an issue. The service was very good since. The ambiance in MPD is a visual feast for your eyes. Upbeat music is playing in the background and lots of giant projector screens playing various scenes of Mexico and aquarium life. I can tell this place gets down at night. Really fun drinks! Food had good flavor. The service is a little over the top- trying to be something it's not. First off- no salsa is available to go with the chips. The waiter told us the owner doesn't like "messy items". There is NO salsa and no ice water.....in a Mexican food restaurant in a parking lot in Fairfield. The only con was food so let me get into the pros... Plenty of parking! Had a reservation for 7 on a saturday and was seated right on time. Server was great! Attentive, funny, and very helpful with the menu. There's 2 large spaces people are sat, one is more lively and loud the other more private. Lots of people dressed up for celebrations. For birthdays they bring out a sign, sparkles, turn up the music and CELEBRATE. Depending on what you order you might get a margarita cart pulling up to your table making your drink in front of you. Speaking of drinks- YES. ORDER THE ALCOHOL. Not only are the bartenders good, each specialty cocktail has a cute little theme to go with it - perfect for PICS. I think this is an interesting culinary addition to the options in Fairfield/the surrounding area. I've been 3 times for dinner, and I'll say that it is a very specific experience, and whether it's "worth" it depends entirely on what you're looking for. PROCEED WITH CAUTION: the Esquite is a decent app as well, though I feel this one could use more flavor, which I could say for many things I tried - although it's worth mentioning that I am picky and prefer my food highly seasoned; I requested and wore out a bottle of Cholula... The Lobster Mac & Cheese is 97% mac & cheese. The tacos don't have much filling for what they cost. The fajitas are bland and they charge for extra tortillas. Since we had a late-night reservation, we decided to order several appetizers to sample different items from the menu. We were welcomed with a complimentary esquite for the table along with bread, which was delicious. We ordered the Guacamole with Chicharrón de Ribeye ($28), Queso Fundido ($13), Aguachile de Ribeye ($38), and attempted to order the Tuétanos ($18), although that dish never arrived. The only issue with the queso fundido was that it came with just two tortillas for a table of four, but we asked for more and they were happy to bring them. We each had a couple of margaritas and cocktails, which ranged from $14-$18, with other premium options available at higher prices. There is also a photographer who walks around taking photos, which are later printed and offered for purchase. The restaurant has a two-hour dining limit. Because the servers are also involved with the shows, service can be a bit slow at times. I made the regretful mistake of booking a 40th birthday dinner for myself, my Twin and 4 friends out of town wanting to celebrate a great milestone and enjoy Memorial Day (5/25) with loved ones. I witnessed this person disrespect, ignore and brush off most of the group for 2 hours. He never asked if we wanted more drinks, we only had one each and had to beg a few people for water. He would only speak to our fluent Spanish speaking friend and was dismissive and irritated when taking our order. I see in other reviews that being rushed has been the biggest complaint with this establishment, I suggest more time should be allotted for bigger groups. He didn't want to offer a dessert, charged us $2 more than what we asked him to charge on each card. So on top of his $76 he got away with $12 more. He wouldn't listen to anyone, talked so fast and only in Spanish. There was no actual communication going on just pointing. The drinks and enchiladas were mediocre, mole was ALL sweet no savory where there should be a balance of both. The aguachiles, guacamole, esquite and tres leches cake were all great. 5 out of the 6 of us there work or have worked in the restaurant business and have never had this type of experience in a restaurant. Nice touch he came with a tray of various fruit slices to offer to add to your water. For appetizers we had the GUACAMOLE CHICHARRÓN DE RIBEYE and QUESO FUNDIDO. The guacamole was good but there was not a lot of rib eye and definitely not enough chicharrones to eat with it. The tortillas that came with the queso fundido were crispy . I had the margarita flight it was very good. I ordered the las rojisas enchiladas. They were ok, not something I would order again. My husband had the fajitas and he was not impressed. My sons had the wagyu burger and the chorizo mac and cheese and were happy with both. My father in law had the lobster enchiladas and didn't find much lobster in them. The servers did sing me happy birthday and give me a birthday flan. I couldn't get the full birthday show as you have to purchase 7-10 alcohol shots to get that. Such a vibe! Been wanting to come here for a while so I was excited to finally make it. Came for late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday and yes we made reservations just in case but it wasn't super packed yet. It was cooked a little bit too long for my liking (I like medium rare) and it was medium but it was still good (surprisingly). Seasoned well, and served with a side of asparagus. They also made this salsa/sauce table side but I didn't care too much for that. It was good without it. The one thing I didn't try was the chili relleno but since it didn't make it to a to-go bag, I'm assuming it was good also. I will say, I've heard a mix of mainly great, but also 1 bad review, but the only bad review I had was from a friend about the food. They said nothing bad about the experience/vibes but told me they ordered a burger and pasta. This isn't an American cuisine or Italian restaurant, so if you do decide to visit, please do yourself a favor and try to order something they probably specialize in making. Very nicely decorated, however, it feels like a lot of conflicting ideas are happening at once. From what seemed like a nice restaurant when you walk in, turns into flashing lights and loud music when drinks are ordered and delivered. Having been with a party of 9, celebrating my partner's dad, it was not the experience that was needed. Ordering was a hassle since the waiter didn't seem to know the menu well. Apparently, the menu was new with added items, however, the items were not available. None of the new items were ready for sale. Myself and another person in the group had to order new items after 10-15 minutes had passed since we ordered originally. Additionally, some of our utensils and cups were dirty. We ordered some more bread because it was one of the best things they gave us. However, it never came out but was on the bill, so we needed that fixed. All the food came, except for the 2 dishes that were ordered after the main order. The food was definitely sitting for a moment and you could tell from the sauce and lukewarm temperature. My dish finally came out and the last dish we were waiting for was a chicken cesar salad. Other tables seemed to be having a great time. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on a Friday night. Was able to make a reservation online the night before. Parking lot was pretty busy for a Friday night since it shares the same lot with chick fil a and chevy's. We were sat pretty soon after checking in. The food & drink menu is pretty extensive so you're bound to find something you like. I tried out a mocktail which I really liked and would recommend. For food, I got the steak and would say it was okay, nothing extraordinary. Overall, I'd rate the food 3/5. Staff and service was great! It was fun to see all the birthday celebrations and it felt like a party the entire time. It's an experience to at least try out once if you're local to the area. read more

The ambiance is really good for a PRE GAME weekend out with a date, friends, and or family. Good music, dim lights, and ocean visuals on the ceiling. This is a place to get good looking and strong drinks. The margaritas are a go! Pass on the food. I ordered the LAS FAJITAS MIXED and the beef, chicken, and shrimp lacked flavor. Yes, it's a good portion but for $40? No. I asked if they have a special hot sauce but they said they don't. They brought out bottles of Tabasco and another one or two that you can get at your local supermarket. I HAD to use one of them. The RICE that comes with it surprisingly was very flavorful. The CAMARON ESPECIAL was good. It had a good kick and was flavorful. My final thoughts is that I would pass on ordering food here because I can get something wayyyy more tastier and cheaper at another place. *If you pay with a credit card, there is a 2.5% fee! *You may have a reservation but you might have to wait 15-20 minutes to be seated. Wowowowowow! This place was absolutely incredible!! Came here on a Sunday afternoon for brunch to celebrate a belated birthday. Immediately, the ambiance is reminiscent of a Vegas lounge. Very over the top and yet so fun! Our server was attentive and food was passed out timely. We ordered the guacamole de chicharron de ribeye to start with diet cokes. Highly recommend!! We asked for tortas on the side. For our entrees we ordered the Steak and Eggs and the Birria Tacos. Again, the food was incredible! There's often pressure to drink in restaurants like these, high energy and fun, BUT there were numerous options for mocktails. We decided to stick to diet cokes. I took my wife to Mama Por Dios to celebrate her birthday, and the experience was incredibly disappointing. When I made the reservation on OpenTable, I specifically noted that we were celebrating my wife's birthday. When we checked in, the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything special, and we again said it was my wife's birthday. Our waiter then asked the same question shortly after being seated, and for a third time we mentioned that we were there for her birthday. Despite mentioning it three separate times, nothing ever happened. Throughout our dinner we watched several other tables celebrate birthdays and special occasions, complete with the restaurant's signature celebration song and sparkler presentation. Meanwhile, my wife's birthday was completely overlooked. After reminding our waiter yet again and still seeing nothing happen, it became clear that they had simply forgotten about her. At that point we were too disappointed to press the issue further. What should have been a memorable birthday celebration for my wife turned into a frustrating and awkward experience. The lack of attentiveness, follow-through, and basic hospitality was hard to ignore. Unfortunately, because of this experience, my family and I will not be returning. When a restaurant promotes a celebratory atmosphere but fails to deliver--especially after being reminded multiple times--it reflects a serious lapse in professionalism and service. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE. They discriminate against people with disabilities. I showed up on 4/24/26 for my 5:30 PM reservation with my family and were not seated because I need a service dog for medical alert. The manager demanded I show paperwork even though the ADA website, which governs public spaces and disabilities, says explicitly that documentation is not required to enter a restaurant. The manager "Angel" refused to follow the law, saying her owner demanded a license or certificate or they would not seat me. They did not even ask me the two legal questions required of a business to ask. I even spoke to the owner Misael Guerrero who confirmed he directed his employees to send me away WITHOUT knowing what the law is. This place does not deserve your hard-earned money when there are other places that actually treat disabled people with respect and dignity. read more

SO LOUD! This is all about party!! This is a place for a younger 20-30 crowd looking to see and be seen. Screens on the walls and ceiling, music so loud you have to yell to talk, and staff literally everywhere walking around, seemingly busy. They looked like men in black. They have those ear bud radios and the ordering POS. There was a tequila cart, making drinks in the aisles between tables, but there was also a bar. I think they're still trying to figure things out since it's new. People were dressed like they were going clubbing. Another review said it was like upscale food mixed with club atmosphere- spot on. Honestly we kept asking if these people realize they are in FAIRFIELD. This restaurant seems like something from Miami or Vegas. Super out of place here. Maybe trying to draw from other cities in a central spot. The food was good but not amazing. The bread was weird- like a seniorita bread with pringles. Our server forgot my guacamole, but I think I was fine without it. The tacos were filling. My husband liked his chicken verde enchiladas. The dessert was unique looking but honestly it was nondescript. I am Overstimulated! It was our anniversary and they asked were we celebrating anything, but literally nobody even recognized it. Guess only if you're a birthday party? Which they will bring you a strobe light and sing. Our server Juliza was nice, honest and polite. We probably won't return unless someone asked could we go. Had reservations for an early Friday dinner and were seated right away. I'd requested a booth seat, but I think all of us with just 2-3 people in our parties were seated in the middle tables. Service was fairly quick. The camarones costa azul and shrimp fajitas were very good. However, my Chilean Seabass was a big letdown. The fish came out colder than room temperature and to top it off, they use jarred garlic. How does a restaurant with actual chefs use jarred garlic?! Ick! The accompanying sweet potato mash was good and the capers added a nice saltiness and flavor to the bass, which helped make it somewhat edible. We'll give this place another shot, but I will not be paying $42 to eat unintentionally cold fish again. read more

This was a very spur of the moment visit because Texas Roadhouse was packed!!! We turned down a one hour wait at the Roadhouse and searched on Yelp for the next best thing. We were blessed to run into MXD. This place was extraordinary and very extravagant. Service from Misa was amazing. He was very attentive and gave us the best suggestions. Maria Bonita mocktail was refreshing and not overbearing at all. Horchata was very authentic. The appetizer guacamole with chicharrones and rib eye tasted just like my mommas. Filet Mignon plate was delicious. Salsa verde Chicken enchilada were a work of art on top of tasting like home as well. The kids menu was perfect since we brought my nephew. The ambiance was epic. Everyone was celebrating birthdays and MXD makes you feel extra special on your special day day. We will definitely return. Nora the photographer came around and took pictures of us to cement the moment in time. Thank you to Misa, Nora and the host that greeted us. After my visit, I contacted the manager, America, and later a staff member from the office (I believe her name was Maria, but I don't recall). She kept telling me the extra charge wasn't a tip--it was a 3% fee because I paid with a card. I explained that I paid with a debit card and asked her to clarify where the $17+ difference came from. If it were truly a 3% charge, it would have been $2.80--not $17.40. She then suggested it might be a fee from my bank. I told her I would call my bank, and confirmed that the full $111.40 charge came from the restaurant, not the bank. I asked if I could get a refund, and she said, "Why should we refund?" I explained that the reason I requested a full refund was because it was extremely inconvenient to keep going back and forth over an unauthorized charge. After checking my bank statement the next day, the payment now shows the original $93.74, which makes me feel the charge may have been adjusted only after I mentioned calling my bank. I've uploaded screenshots of my receipt and the conversation to clarify the issue. $17 was charged without explanation, repeated attempts to resolve it were ignored, and I still have not spoken to the owner. read more
