I went with a wet burrito, quesabirria tacos, and a super taco. Wasn't a huge fan of the super taco. It came with steak, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, and 1 sliced tomato. The wet burrito was filled with your typical super burrito fillings and to me tasted OK. The quesabirria was decent. I came here for national taco day. I've been coming here for years and hadn't been in a while and Alejandro's did not disappoint. The street tacos were ridiculously good and very authentic tasting. While Texas Street was pretty quiet on a Monday evening, it's still a great location. As we walked inside I did feel that it was a bit warm compared to the nice breeze outside. Too bad they don't have outdoor seating. My eye was drawn to Birria but they only serve it on the weekends. I ended up with enchiladas filled with carnitas. I got the plate so it included rice and beans. I thought the food was pretty good. My cousin and I were there for a while, chatting and eating. We had seen other patrons come and go. Oh my gosh! Things have really changed when you walk in to Alejandro's.... For decades I frequented this taqueria, their food was always delicious! (It still is!) but, boy did they take COVID seriously! The self-serve soda machine is gone! The chip/salsa station is gone! You can no longer be seated and receive menus and order at the table! Now, like many other taquerias, you order at a window, then sit down and wait for your food. They do give you some chips with small cups of salsa and pico. If you want more, it'll cost you 40 cents for each little cup. They also charge for the little to go bags if you order food to go. I had a carnitas burrito mojado with hot salsa instead of pico and salsa diabla instead of enchilada sauce. It was awesome! Just like I remembered... The pictures on the wall and the posted menu on one of the walls are still the same. It's just not as inviting and comfortable as it used to be. The lady at the cash register asked if I wanted everything on the tacos to which I responded yes. The tacos I received were very dry and included only a few pieces of shrimp, orange-colored refried beans, and huge pieces of lettuce on a pre-made taco shell. Completely DISGUSTING. There was no sour cream, cheese, guacamole, salsa etc. The tacos were also very sloppily put together and came apart on the plate upon being served. We received 8 limes wedged (individually wrapped) for 15 tacos! None of the plates actually had grilled onions or jalapeños, received a side container of grilled onions. My culinary adventure today, had us searching for a torta, or Mexican sandwich for those who don't know. I had a choice of enchilada, taco, tostada or chile relleno. The lunch plates come with refried beans, rice and lettuce and a tomato. I ordered a chicken enchilada and it was so cheesy! A great portion for myself and it was delicious. Every order does come with chips and salsa. I recommend the verde and medium salsa! It was so good. For the kids, there are some tattoo and toy dispensers at the entrance ranging from 50 cents to $1. It brought back so many memories and my nephew loved it! I was referred to the restaurant by a friend who knew I liked good Mexican food. I felt a little uncomfortable when I first arrived because the staff walked by me a few times and avoided eye contact. So I have been eyeing this place for a little while now but have only decided to stop by today to try it out for lunch time. The good thing about this place is that it is located in the heart of downtown. You usually won't have any problem finding parking around here. When you first enter this place, you'll be amazed at actually how big the dining area is. There's actually quite a few larger size tables they can seat up to 6 people per table. When you order your food you have to go to the very front. The menu will be on your left side painted on the wall. They have a water fountain off to the right side on top of the counter. Today I ordered a pastor regular burrito. It costed me somewhere around the neighborhood of $8.75. they also give you free chips and salsa if you dine in. The food came out very fast. I want to say within 5 minutes after ordering my food they came out. The older lady actually brought it to my table which was nice. The burrito itself was a standard size burrito. They gave you a choice of black beans or refried beans and I got the refried beans. The only thing that stood out to me about the burrito was the taste of the pastor meat. The meat had a really nice flavor to it, they're almost taste like it has a hint of vinegar and some other spices and it was really good overall. The rest of the burrito was good too. The chips were okay too, and they're hot salsa was not extremely hot. In fact the tapatio tasted slightly hotter than their salsa. Overall I give this place a solid four stars. Next time I come by maybe I'll try their lunch plates. I saw one older guy eating a lunch plate and look like it was slightly more portion on his plate than my burrito. This place absolutely hit the spot! Nestled in Downtown Fairfield with pretty decent parking I came across this spot with a pretty big menu! The restaurant is very clean/spacious and the woman that assisted me at the counter was very nice. I ordered 4 tacos (2 Asada/2 Pastor) as well as an Al La Carte Chile Relleno. I think what I appreciated about the tacos was that the tortilla wasnt super thick like some places. It was so light which made eating the tacos very dangerous! Theres a good amount of meat and onions/cilantro and they add red salsa for a kick! They also individually wrapped the limes for you to take home so it doesnt disintegrate the brown bags. Meat was ok! & the Pastor wasnt super greasy. You could also taste a slight sweetness and it didnt taste super porky. Overall the flavor was good for the area! You also get choice of 2 salsas for the chips. The chile relleno was good too I just wish it was a little bigger (finished in like 3 bites) with a little more cheese inside but the sauce really hit home. I enjoyed the huevos rancheros from Alejandro's. My critique is that the tomato and lettuce were beneath the eggs and got soggy. I enjoyed the meal with the corn tortilla and chips and salsa on the side. I also got an Al pastor super burrito, which I would've enjoyed more if the burrito was fresh and hot.
