Ordered boasted chicken to be delivered. Asked for a receipt which I did not get. Most of the chicken was laid face down in the container which caused the breading to get soggy. When it was delivered asked them to put in the hallway and would leave a tip on the landing. Could have rung the doorbell to let me know it was delivered, but wasn't done. Called them to let them know that I was disappointed and why, but the manager just told me that I didn't say anything about what I wanted when ordered and didn't want to acknowledge any of my comments. It's been about six years since I last tried Pelicano's. In the hunt for great fried chicken I decided to give them another shot. Their four piece mix of broasted chicken and jojo's is $9 and includes coleslaw. (They do often have a coupon for $7.99 though). I called in my order for pick-up and my entire experience with staff was pleasant. I think you get a lot of food with this dinner and the price is very affordable. I like how coleslaw is included to break up all of the fried stuff going into your mouth. The skin was crispy which I enjoy, but it had these pebble like pieces of breading that I had to keep picking off because they were too hard. Also thought the breading was a bit salty, but I don't like salt and don't cook with it at all so I am more sensitive to its presence than probably most people. The chicken meat was cooked perfectly, nice and moist. Jojo's and coleslaw complimented the meal. While I am still going to continue my search for fried chicken I do recommend giving Pelicano's a try for yourself. My experience this time around was better than the last and it has me wanting to try their pizza again. read more

I wish I could give them 5 stars but it's only four. Why? Because I actually don't really like their pizza and I am very sorry to say this. It's a little bready and kinda reminds me of a pizza at a cafeteria at a college that's been sitting under a heating lamp. BUT!!!!!!!! These guys have AMAZING FRIED CHICKEN. I love it! It's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. My fiancé and I are definitely coming back for more! Seriously - forget Bob Evans, Raising Cane's, KFC... - if you're in Rocky River or anywhere within a ten or fifteen minute drive of this place and you're craving fried chicken - this is it! Also another favorite are their salads. Their veggies are always fresh and delish. Currently our favorite is the antipasti salad. The portion size is really good and as I said - everything is super fresh. Staff is nice and the food is done on time and ready to be picked up. Living in Lakewood I am *always* driving up Wooster Road to get to Rocky River and always say to myself I need to try Pelicano's sometime. Well, it took me about 4 years but I finally did try it. The box claims"best tasting pizza around" so let's see how it stacks up. Ordering, I inquired what the most popular specialty pies were (I was hungry, everything sounded good) and was told either the Chicken Club or the Country Chicken Ranch. I didn't want a ranch base so I opted for door number 1. Toppings included garlic sauce base, chicken, bacon, basil, tomato. Hard to go wrong with bacon but really this pizza knocked it out of the park. The crust held up well, all the topping were fresh and they were generous with the cheese. My only complaint the tomatos were more a rough chop (ie big and heavy) so they just kinda fell off. Also it would have been nice to have fresh basil. The pizza wasn't cheap and my chest kind of hurts so this definitely is a special occasion place for me. But overall I would give them my business again. read more

Don't order from here unless you want to get ripped off and misled!! I ordered 2 small pizzas. The guy on the phone said they were supposed to be 10" in diameter but as you can see in the photo they are 8"'. And yes I was treated so rudely that I just had to take photos for proof!! As you can see there is so much room left in the box and they are definitely not 10"! For the prices they charge it is Highway robbery! I called to complain and spoke to a woman manager who promised to send more pizza since I was overcharged. I was happy with the resolution. 5 minutes later a different worker there, a man, calls back who was super rude to me saying that won't happen! That I could not get any type of refund and they won't send anymore pizza! Wow horrible business practices and customer service. For those of you not local I'll be blunt, this is the place that the local school system gets its cafeteria pizza from, and all those I used to go to high school with still agree this is the Worst Pizza in the city of Cleveland. It is worse than Papa Johns even and I know the connotation that carries but this really feels like you are eating greasy cardboard. The Cheese comes entirely off the pizza with your first bite as if its made of plastic and the sauce basically tastes like ketchup. Don't go here. read more

The pizza was good but they overcharged for toppings and the girls working there was rude - both on the phone and in person. Toppings are $1 as advertised on the web site. Industry standard is that it would cost .50 for one side of the pizza. One topping on half and 3 toppings on the other half would be $2; not $4. I'm not trying to nickle and dime the local pizza store, but the rude teenage employee causes me to not want to order from Pelicanos -- or recommend them -- again. read more

My husband and I were at Emerald Necklace Marina in Rocky River just a few days ago when the weather was so nice. We live on the Far East side and needed to get out of the house for a walk and a change of scenery with the current lockdown due to corona virus. We were hungry and thought pizza sounded good. Not knowing any pizza restaurants on the west side, we googled it. The only non-chain place that came up in my search was Pelicano's. We are both fans of supporting local, non-chain restaurants and decided to give them a try. Besides, the pizza photos on their website were delicious looking. We placed an order by phone and asked them to deliver to Emerald Necklace Marina. They did. The customer Service was great, the pizza was super hot, too. The crust was perfect. The toppings were plentiful. It looked like the ad! THE PIZZA WAS OUTSTANDING! We are planning to drive from Solon to the west side again JUST for Pelicano's Pizza. It's outstanding! read more

I have gotten the coupon for this place mailed to my house for three years and have never been able to locate it while driving on Wooster rd. It is tucked away in a very nondescript plaza behind a tall building in a seldom traveled corner of Rocky River. That being said, i may also just be an idiot. But i finally found it and had to try the pie. Pretty pricey for a take out only establishment. You're paying Angelo's prices, but not getting the hip dine in experience of an Angelo's. The pie is of Angelo's caliber, however. Very good crust, higher quality cheese, and not greasy. But a 2 topping medium ran me ten bones with the coupon! I had to pop a Target pizza in the oven just to have enough dinner for my wife and myself. Well....i did order a shrimp dinner. Why would you order shrimp from a pizza place? It's not like it's coming in fresh from Euclid fish daily and is most likely from Cysco. Whatever, i had a craving. The shramps (pronounced shraaaaaamps) were quite jumbo and worth every penny. They came with slaw, cocktail sauce and the dreaded jo jo fries. I'm not a fan of the jo jo. Overall, i liked the meal, however pricey. I ordered 2 large pizzas from Pelicanos. Pelicanos is overcharging their customers - I was charged $21.45 for a speciality pizza that the website and menu states should cost $20. I was also charged $16.88 for a pizza that the menu/website states should cost $16.75. I think that Pelicanos is hoping that most customers will not notice the price difference because it is small and they do not give you a detailed receipt where you can check. I asked for a receipt because the total seemed a little high to me. Also, Pelicanos has a coupon for 2 large 2 toppings pizzas for $27.99. My large pizzas did not have 2 toppings so I was charged $34 for my pizzas. They refused to honor the coupon because I did not have 2 toppings on each pizza. This is a nice little family owned Pizza joint in Rocky River. They have been around for several years now, and I have always had a good experience. Regular pizzas are pretty good, and their baked chicken wings are meaty and delicious. The specialty pizza's are what set them part, not necessarily in the offerings (taco, seafood, barbecue chicken, etc.) but rather in their execution. The menu item that keeps me coming back is the bacon cheeseburger pizza. Pizza Crust, ketchup and mustard (instead of pizza sauce), WHOLE hamburger pattiies, and a thick layer of cheese and crumbled bacon on top. Most rational people look at me in horror when I describe it to them, but it's not to be missed. Think of it as a giant open-faced cheeseburger and enjoy! By the way, it's carry-out or delivery only. I find the Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza to be worth the 20 minute drive to pick it up. read more

I was interested in pizza, but when I heard they had broasted chicken, I had to order that, too. That chicken and potatoes--so so good. It was fresh, hot, with a crispy tasty skin, and tender inside. The potatoes were so good, I could make a meal out of them. The pizza was yummy, too--tasty sauce, and gooey cheese. Even though it was freezing outside, they managed to deliver the food hot. I quit ordering here a few years ago when I nearly choked to death on their pizza- I suspect there must've been a 5 year old child in the back making the pizza, cuz there was so much cheese on there, I didn't ask for extra or double, but they gave me quadruple. I finally decided to try them again a few months ago, and I told the guy "light cheese". As he reads my order back he says "extra cheese". I don't get it. More cheese does not make a pizza good. So I corrected him, got the pizza & it was fantastic! Ordered again a week later, I said light cheese, it was fantastic again! Following week same thing, light cheese, I finally feel good supporting my local pizza shop & BAM- waaaay too much cheese. I am doubtful I'll order from here again, I love supporting local businesses, but I can't risk choking to death on 3 inches of cheese. Maybe I'll just order No Cheese next time so I'll get a regular amount of cheese on it. So I guess if you like a shitload of cheese on yer pizza you don't hafta ask for extra cheese. Pizza is great but the quality of service has gone down hill in recent years. In the past few months I have had numerous issues where the pizza wasn't cooked fully or to our order of well done and the staff could care less. Last night we ordered our pizza well done and we were told it would be 20 minutes. After 40 minutes it was done but not cooked completely so they put it back in for another five minutes and it was great. Staff was not apologetic at all and didn't care, this would have not happened 3-4 years ago. Just a right! I really like this restaurant. Not too this or that - just right. This is a carry out or delivery only restaurant. The pizza is very good and traditional. I like it because the pizza is never salty or greasy. The marinara sauce is spot on traditional - not sour or overly runny. Crust is not thick or thin, just right. They make a nice pizza pie - whatever your choices for toppings. I really love the eggplant Parmesan dinner. It is really a steal as it is perfect for two people. Dinner salad, garlic bread and two stacks of eggplant on spaghetti. I'm Italian and this dish is very much traditional and homemade. Good sauce. Great meal for two - $11.95. read more
