Went here for my wife's birthday dinner with one of her friends. We were seated right away. Got menus and drink orders were taken. Took a few minutes and we decided on coconut shrimp dinners for my wife and her friend and I had the beer battered cod(fish and chips) all with baked potato. Comes with the soup and salad bar. They have the best salad bar around IMO. Very well stocked with a nice variety of veg and fruit. Also known for their French onion soup as well as a tortilla type mix with pieces of sausage. I had the FO. Was good but most of the onions had been taken. We got back to the table and our server, Ethan, had brought fresh bread. We had enough time to finish that and our entrees came out. Everything looked good(see the pics). Mine came with tartar which I thought odd but they did have malt vinegar. All food was cooked well. The shrimp were very large and tasty with a nice orange marmalade type sauce. My fish could have used a touch more salt either before or right out of the fryer. Overall good dinner. They have a full bar with dining tables there as well as an outdoor patio area. They have several rooms where they can accommodate larger groups for special occasions. Pelicans has been a local seafood heavy restaurant for a long time. Back in the beginning they were one of the few fine dining establishments in the area. They still rank highly and the family is local. Always try to support local. The decor is very nautical as is the ambiance. read more

Our server provided exceptional and attentive service, even though it was close to closing time, which we truly appreciated. We started with the appetizer platter, which included calamari, mozzarella sticks, and stuffed mushrooms. Everything was cooked fresh and i would easily rate a 10/10. However, the house-made marinara sauce was quite disappointing, it lacked flavor and was the least enjoyable I had. For our entrées, I ordered the grilled shrimp served with a bed of rice and fries. My partner chose the combination platter, shrimp, salmon and blackened catfish which unfortunately did not live up to expectations. The portion size did not match the price point, and the blackened catfish was particularly disappointing.see pic below Overall, while the service and appetizer were outstanding, the entrées left room for improvement. Ordered the shrimp scampi. It's literally just shrimp in butter (does not come with pasta like traditionally prepared elsewhere). The loaded baked potato is great. The salad bar is nice and has a lot of options; the ranch was pretty good. The bread roll was a little tough and the butter is traditional whipped. They have Pepsi products, which is nice. The chicken tenders are okay. We were recommended the stuffed sol, but did not try it. Everything is overpriced significantly. The atmosphere is nice (moody, seashack). read more

I ordered the early bird catfish dinner. Rather than a few chunks of fish, it was served as a large 6-oz filet. The filet looked huge when brought to the table but turned out very disappointing. A very thin slice of fish wrapped in an overcooked, greasy coating. The side, fries, was cooling down and not very good. Avoid the catfish. The salad bar was ok - neat and well-stocked. Disclaimer: I have been going here since the 1980's and love that it hasn't changed much. Still the same great salad bar, homemade soups, and menu with variety. Can't say enough about the salad bar and the perennial french onion soup. I usually get the shrimp scampi, teriaki steak, or dijon chicken and their baked potatoes are always fantastic. Their steamed veggies are cooked perfectly. Beer, wine, and drink selections are very good. And the wait staff is very attentive. It is reminiscent of a certain classic seafood restaurant in Marina Del Rey. Props to the owners for keeping this restaurant tradition alive! read more

My husband and I ate at Pelican's yesterday. The food was horrible. I had the catfish. It was undercooked and had no seasoning. My husband had a cheeseburger with fries. The hamburger patty was overcooked to the point that it was hard. The bun was also hard. The salad bar and the baked potato were good. Our waiter was just okay. The atmosphere was good. It was quiet enough to carry on a conversation and hear each other. We will not eat there again due to the quality of the food. read more

We haven't eaten here in a long time but we heard they bought back their beer battered shrimp so we had to go try it. We were really impressed with the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The shrimp are large and perfectly cooked. Their cocktail sauce is wonderful. The loaded baked potato was not overcooked and they are generous with the toppings, very good. The salad bar, Which comes with your meal, is expansive and everything looked fresh and tasted great. We each had an appetizer fried calamari and fried mushrooms which were both very good. Still a full on five freakin' stars for this place! Had the chance to get the stuffed sole this time and it was pretty fabulous. The lady and I brought my parents in this time for a lunch visit. Mom smashed the hamburger which was a bit of a surprise (it's a full half pound of burger). Dad enjoyed the soup and salad which is an on point lunch time choice. The lady enjoyed the grilled shrimp again and had zero complaints. This place is very much on our list of favorite places to eat when we go out at this point. We have been eating for years at Pelicans. Tonight was very busy but still great service. I ordered Hawaiian chicken which was great. Others ordered fish which they said was good. They are known for the salad bar that came with our meals. Starters are cold plate, crisp lettuce with all the trimmings plus more. Everything you can think of even beets, peppers, pickles, mushrooms, peas, beans. Soup comes with it also but definitely needs to be hotter. Loaf of bread is served with meal to top it all off. Well, let's go with the positive first, and we'll proceed from there. The service is very nice, and the bartender was open to learning what a negroni is. Their "perfect margarita" is made with a mix and *gold* tequila -- not silver (Texas, the home of margaritas, would mandate silver since it's a mixed drink). Also, it's served *with olives* . . . Weird. The food comes in large portions, something that's sadly a norm in the South. I'd pay the same prices for better-prepared food of 60% the portion. The frog legs were a bit boring. The "jumbo" shrimp cocktail looks like it could have come from Costco's deli shrimp plate, but it's like $11. I'm sure this is a popular place in MWC, but it's to OKC and other locales for good Americana food for me. read more

Decided to have dinner here for my partner's bday. This place is a local treasure! It was my first time eating here and everything was so tasty! We decided to get the Fisherman's Platter with Baked Sea Scallops, Shrimp Scampi, and Crab Cake served with a loaded baked potato and salad bar! This meal was definitely big enough to share! And the salad bar was loaded with toppings! Only complaint was the shrimp were slightly over cooked, and the scallops don't have an option for a pan sear and needed a bit of salt (boiled, baked, or fried). Overall, everything was great! Once upon a time this was a nice restaurant. It is not anymore. Old and needs a remodel. The silverware is cheap, the salad bar which used to be great is just not anymore. The food is substandard. The restaurant needs a complete overhaul or to close. I will not be back and will not recommend to anyone I know. A very big disappoint. read more

I am really sad to write this, as I have loved Pelican's since I was a kid. But we just had the worst meal. We got to the restaurant about 45 minutes before last serving and asked if it was too late as it was fairly empty, but they said it was fine. The server was great for most of the meal until it went off the rails and he didn't quite know how to respond, so he basically didn't. We had the pick 3 appetizer with calamari, mussels, and a crab cake. All were wonderful, and thank goodness because it went severely downhill from there. I had the "crab stuffed sole," and my friend ordered a ribeye with scallops and a loaded baked potato. Mine tasted really odd, until I realized that the crab was actually imitation crab meat that really shouldn't be cooked like that. The cheese was so heavy it may have covered the flavor, had I not scrapped some of it off, but mine was nothing compared to what happened next. My friend had a fly crawl out of the foil on her potato. I assumed that it had just landed on the food after it came out of the kitchen, until the fly literally crawled slowly across the table and died. The poor creature was baked along with the potato. And if that were not stunning enough, I couldn't figure out why she wasn't eating her ribeye. After asking 3 times, she had me take a bite. Initially it was flavorless, but after a few seconds, I started to gag, and I don't really have a gag reflex. Plus the scallops - which were a really expensive add-on, were the size of quarters with no real seasoning apart from the butter. When we told the server about the tortured fly on its death march, he offered up a new potato and a meek apology. He was a nice person who really did his best, but the manager never came over, much less apologized. We understand that the pandemic has been painful for the service industry, but that does not excuse the food quality. Plus... every meal comes with the salad bar... seriously, they have an all you can eat self-service salad bar open during a pandemic. ‍ The server was gracious enough to get us side salads from the back, but we still found the buffet style service irresponsible. Truly disappointed. I'm not one to swear off of a place forever because of one bad meal, but I am not sure I will have the stomach to come pack after we spent $95 ($74 on food/$20 on tip) just to get a stomach ache. I have been eating here since the early 80s. I have never had a bad experience at all. Occasionally they are out of something I want, but there is always something else to enjoy. The food is always of high quality. Today I ordered the orange roughy special. The chef told our waiter that he wasn't happy with the quality of the fish he was going to prepare (it was the last portion he had available) . Our waiter was apologetic and asked me if I would accept something else. I chose the stuffed sole, which was excellent. The quality control of this place is of the highest level. Also, their calamari is always great. Calamari, like octopus, has to be cooked very quickly or very long, because anything in between results in rubber bands. This is a locally owned and operated restaurant and is cute as a bug. It reminded me of a steakhouse from the Jazz age. Overall, the restaurant is a 3.5 star place, but it's in Midwest City so I'm bumping it up. The salad bar is excellent. The lettuce is fresh and they have an interesting array of toppings. If you order an appetizer then the salad bar is only $4.00. I don't know what it is by itself I ordered the mussels hold the garlic butter. The waiter asked me what to cook it in. I suggested a white wine but apparently they didn't take my suggestion. read more

We go to this restaurant often and it is one of our favorites. The seafood never disappoints, and the surface is awesome.

I had a lovely date night with my husband. We're early birds so it was between 4-6pm. The food was good, the staff was friendly with great service, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I fully enjoyed my meal without my usual social anxiety. It's a very cozy place to dine in at. To finish off the meal I ordered Irish Coffee and I was surprised at how amazing it was!! We ate here for the first time ever with some friends that said it was a regular favorite for them. I was nervous at first but so glad we went in! The salad bar is amazing and the blue cheese dressing is finally a substitute for my long lost steak and ale. I had fried shrimp for my main course and it was as close to seaside as I have had in Okc. On top of the great food Experience, we got to meet the owner who is simply an amazing person. We had heard good things about this place and were excited to try it with another couple. We met them there around 6:30 on a Thursday evening. While we were waiting in our car for our friends, I noticed not a single person coming out, or going in, with masks on. Interesting. Our friends arrived so we went inside (with our masks on). Between the four of us, we ordered Hawaiian Chicken Salad, the Hawaiian Chicken Dinner, Shrimp Scampi, and Coconut Shrimp. Everyone's came with salad bar & side, (except mine - the salad), and bread for the table. The food came out fairly quickly and looked really good! I was sort of befuddled with my choice of dressings for the salad. I was offered Ranch, Bleu Cheese, Raspberry Vinaigrette, or Thousand Island. None of those sounded very good with Hawaiian chicken but I went with the vinaigrette on the side. Food temperature was good for most. The two of us with chicken didn't receive ours hot - more like lukewarm. My chicken had a "fishy" taste which was really offputting. We did get dessert as well - cheesecake and brownie fudge sundae. They were both good. Our waiter was nice - very talkative - but did not rush us. We all will go back again but I won't order the salad again. read more

Actually I cant review the food. Made reservations for my wife's birthday on friday evening. We arrived on time. Took a few minutes to be greeted at the door. Told them host about your reservation. He sat us quickly, at a table in the middle of the dining room. Neither one of us like being in the middle of the room and prefer booths. There was a booth next to us. Asked the host if we can have it. He said they need to bus it, but sure we can. May wife and I proceed to the booth when the server approaches us and said no we can't sit there, it's for 4 people. The table we were at had 4 seats. We decided that if are going to be treated like that, that your business doesn't need our patronage. As a person with 25+ years in the restaurant industry, this is one of the worst experiences I have had with any restaurant. read more
