My husband and I have visited this location several times and never had any complaints--until today. On Father's Day, the business hours changed to close at 9 PM CST, and we were not aware of this. We arrived about 40-50 minutes before closing. The appetizers we received were not the same as those we had enjoyed in the past; they used to be more satisfying. It felt rushed, and when our food finally arrived, my husband ordered the chicken fajitas, which contained hardly any chicken. They did bring out more chicken to make up for it, but when we received the bill, they charged him for the extra chicken. Everyone knows that when you order chicken fajitas, you expect more than just a few pieces of chicken. Additionally, we were upcharged for a side that is typically only 99 cents. Our child's junior meal, consisting of tenders and fries, looked better than both of our adult meals, and we were the ones paying full price! This was the worst experience we've had here, and it was unexpected and disappointing. Based on this visit, we will not be returning. read more

I wish I didn't have to write this as someone who grew up with Santa Fe and has ate there hundreds of times in my lifetime. The last few times we've been I've noticed quality go down each time. I'm not talking about going from a 5 page or so menu to a front and back menu but the actual quality of food. I've went a few times in the last couple of months and was really hoping it was a one off event, it seems like that isn't the case. It really saddens me to see Santa Fe in this predicament especially with all of the other restaurants being so close. This most recent time we went our server - Timberland(sp?) was the sweetest server I've had in a long time. A refreshing bubbly personality and extremely attentive. It's not about the service. I ordered a steak as I usually do - it was overcooked but didn't mention anything because it's still okay to me. What wasn't okay was the taste of the steak and struggling hard to cut it into bite size pieces and still tasting like bland leather. I've never had any cut of meat there that seemed to have no seasonings - not even salt and pepper? Just grill marks? I've always stood by you should be able to eat a steak without any condiments - the flavor is all in the steak. I couldn't even eat 1/4th of my steak due to it being so tough and what I did get down was drenched in steak sauce. Paid extra for a loaded baked potato to go and it wasn't even cut nor did it include the loaded part. We spent over $110 on our recent trip and I have to say that's not something we're willing to do at this establishment any longer. Again, not due to service - but quality. It makes me really sad when the place used to be so great. Also the menu constantly changing/getting smaller is frustrating when fan favs are being discontinued. I really hope to see them succeed and stay local - but at this rate seeing hardly any customers when we've been there and lack of consistency seems annoying. Edit - my husband warmed his to go sandwich way later in the night and he specifically asked for no jalapeños, instead of not getting what he asked for he was given what seems triple the normal serving. Thankfully the jalapeño is just a preference and not an allergy. We did bring up seafood allergy at the table as they do sell shrimp and it makes me worried about not listening to preferences/allergies for ourselves or others. Now the catfish...is catfish belly. When we catch catfish we give that part to the cats! It used to be whole fillets, but they changed to belly. Not good. Their food quality has been going downhill. This is a sign of a failing restaurant. Tip to restaurant managers...trying to bring up profits by decreasing food quality is a death spiral for your business. We had a nice lunch here today. The atmosphere is rustic and casual. Our server was very helpful and friendly. My chicken fried steak was good. Portions were smaller at lunchtime, but just the right amount for a lunch. I didn't really care for the bite I had of the catfish, but my mother in law liked it. Manager appeared, apologized, promised another steak and to come back and check on it. We eat at this location once a week - I usually get the filet and my husband gets the 12 oz ribeye. The food is consistently good, but we often have issues with service. Today when we came in, there were no less than 10 employees at the hostess stand, which I commented about. We were taken to a booth in the center room, where we sat for at least 10 minutes with nobody coming to take our drink order. My husband finally went to the bar to get drinks - a beer and an iced tea, which he paid for in case we decided to leave. Another few minutes passed. There was one other couple eating at the other side of the center room area; the other areas didn't appear to be overly busy either. Finally, the waitress for the other table noticed us and asked if anyone had come to our table. She wasn't supposed to be our waitress, but she stepped in to save the day. Kaylee (spelling?) apologized profusely that we were left waiting so long. She proceeded to provide the best service we've ever had here. First visit was Sunday evening. Not too busy. Inside of the restaurant seems huge. We loved the decor- the signs are hilarious! Our serve Kobe was spot on. Food was brought out in a timely manner, service was friendly. Menu suggestions made, but not pushy. Generous portion of fresh rolls and cinnamon butter. We got two appetizers- sausage and fried pickles. The sausage had a little heat and the bbq so sweet, tangy and packed a flavor punch. Kids loves the fried pickles and ranch. I got the death burger- not as spicy as I anticipated but delicious!! Loved the fresh jalapeños!! Husband had the burrito- it was HUGE!! Stuffed full of goodness. Took my daughter out for her bday dinner and was not impressed. The appetizer came out well after our meal. My steak tasted strange almost like it was going bad? I needed lots of A1. The cinnamon butter tasted like nothing. It was really weird. The brocolli with cheese was like brocolli in milk. It was so runny and didn't taste like cheese at all. At least the rolls were hot and luckily I didn't get sick. My daughter enjoyed her ribs, but had the same watery, milky brocolli like I did. We will not return again. I'm a huge SFCC fan. I eat at the one here in Midwest City, OK at least once a week. The food is good, but what keeps me coming back is the service. The serving staff is just a great bunch of folks who always seem genuinely happy to see you and make you feel welcome each and every visit. Makeala is an excellent example of the SFCC serving staff. She remembers me, knows what I like to eat and drink and is very attentive without being intrusive. That's not an easy balance but she carries it off with ease.
