Got a take out order for a chicken Caesar salad that, mind you, costed me 17 dollars (and looked to be about a size of a side salad) and hands down worst decision I've made yet. For a restaurant like this one, I'd think it would be common sense to put the dressing on the SIDE not on it for a take out meal. My mistake for not requesting it in the first place. The salad was SOAKED in Caesar dressing; couldn't even eat it. Half of my chicken was cut up and the other half was full chicken cutlets...and half my chicken was cooked in a spicy seasoning and the other half was cooked without it. Confused. No consistency. And like I said before, for a restaurant like this one, I did not think they'd make a dish like the one they served me. Ordered the broiled fish and broccoli rabe to go. The fish didn't seemed broiled, but rather baked and a little too lightly seasoned. The fish was cooked well but not as I expected. The broccoli rabe was very tough and not sautéed well, there were garlic pieces in the rabe but it didn't taste sautéed. Not other seasonings were used. I seasoned myself when I got home. read more

As a proud Italian from Long Island, which validates my opinion even more. Pellicci's is the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. The second you walk into the door, you can't help but feel you're at a family party. The aesthetic alone is worth checking out. Now let's get to the important part, the food. To start we had the fried calamari, the pasta fagoli and the fried mozzarella. The octopus was as long as my hand, and incredibly fresh. Now I'm also a proud soup Connoisseur. This pasta fagoli knocked my socks off. I'm typing this literally barefoot. Our waitress was a gem. Now for the entrees, my girl kept it classy with the eggplant parm. Now mind you this broad is Portuguese, so the waitress had to rattle off every pasta shape they had. And again, props to the waitress for knowing it like the back of her hand. I was gonna be silly and get the Shrimp Fra Diavlo. But at this point I'm obsessed with this place so I had to keep it classic and get the chicken parm out of respect for my grandfather...RIP Tony-If. Next thing I know, half the kitchen staff had to come out to hold these plates they were so big. As both of our eyes lit up with excitement, we took our first bite. The fat bastard I am, I requested more pasta sauce immediately and they made it fresh. And when I say fresh, I mean phreshhhhh. Before I knew it , 20 mins went by and we hadn't said a word to each other, just devouring the food in front of us. I'm literally not exaggerating this was the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. And from where I'm from, we judge how good the food is by how fast it knocks you out. My first trip to Pellicci's based on a reco from a work mate. Took my team there and had a great evening. We shared pesto tortilini, lobster ravioli, lemon chicken and a seafood pasta dish. It was more than we could ever finish, fresh and well prepared. The calamari was tender and the sauce had a hint of spice. Went here for a family dinner on a busy Friday night during the holidays. The decor and ambience was beautiful as they had decorated for Christmas. Our waitress was great despite the restaurant being crowded. We ordered a pizza which was really tasty and the sauce was fresh. All the vegetable sides he had were very fresh and crisp. I also ordered a pesto pasta dish which lacked flavor and was very oily. The pasta was a bit underdone and wasn't very fresh as expected from a high quality Italian restaurant. Been going to this place regularly for the past 4 years. The service has been good and the bar staff has always been great. Went recently for my birthday and got the seafood extravaganza. At Market Price I had high expectations but they were met. This thing could feed a small army and it had plenty of favor. Everything was cooked together with the pasta so it had a better flavor than it being just steamed. I'm originally from New Orleans and I take my seafood seriously and it was the best seafood experience I have had so far in Fairfield County. I used to really enjoy the spaghetti now they are so cheap with the sauce I have to discard noodles after every order . Tonight I asked for extra sauce because I knew they were cheap with it and it STILL wasn't enough. It's good sauce don't get me wrong. It just doesn't spread like it should. It's doesn't coat the pasta like you would want. Basically just ground beef tossed in a light sauce. I hope they read this and switch it up. read more

We went to Pellicci's for my parents' 40th anniversary. They both used to eat here 35 plus years ago when they lived in town. Working in town, I have also eaten here over the years. With that said, the quality of food has gone really downhill. We had the fried mozzarella as an appetizer. The breading was great but the cheese was mediocre. The wine selections were average. Regarding the entrees....two in our party had the eggplant...it was soupy and soggy....quite unappetizing. My wife had a pizza...her quote was "I could have better frozen pizza." I had a ribeye...for the cost I wasnt expecting as poor quality of beef....think American Steak House quality. I had a side of pasta.....it was awful. Buy Lydias pasta with any decent sauce at the grocery store and you will be worlds happier. Service was inattentive....but was still the best part of the meal. I am super confused with this place. After lots of researching local Italian places and looking at some reviews on Google, I settled on Pellicci's to get some take out for my dad's birthday. We order two chicken parm dinners, one chicken scarp and garlic bread. It was quite possible some of the worst food I have ever eaten. The pieces of chicken in both the parm dish & the scarp were chewy and hard to cut through. On both parms, there was a teeny, tiny small amount of mozzarella cheese. It looked like just chicken with sauce on top. The portion of the chicken parm was fine but the side of pasta was small. As for the chicken scarp, I wish I would have taken a pic because it was a few really sad looking dish with these weird shaped pieces of chicken with scant peppers. Super disappointing. Garlic bread flavor was fine but wasn't crispy at all (call it being wrapped up or not...not sure). So once again, I am super confused because as I look at these reviews everyone's food looks great but that was NOT my experience with take out and I suggest for this restaurant to take more care in what they are serving their take out patrons. read more

We ate here while spending a weekend in Greenwich. A friend told me it was good and to try it so we did. We live in Brooklyn so we can be spoiled when it comes to Italian food, but we still have some old time places around here. Was seated quickly and the choices were many. Stuck to the basics. A good first test for any Italian american restaurant is to order easy things like a Ceaser salad, Chicken Parm and Pasta with Pancetta , peas and cream sauce. Easy right? Can't mess that up. Or so i thought. The salad was tastless, the pasta way overcooked and the sauce on the chicken wasn't even cooked. Whats up with that? A little basil and garlic could'nt hurt it either. And i have never been served Chicken Parm that was not either properly baked or put under a broiler to melt the cheese, speaking of which was provolone. Both times I've been there I have asked for a dish that wasn't on the menu and they happily obliged. The bread, the clams casino both excellent. The veal was spectacular. When we first got there we were a bit nervous as to how pricey it was going to be because of the required valet parking but once you get in the parking lot and see how little parking there is you understand why they park your car. The valets are fast and efficient. If your looking for good and fast service this is definitely not the place. We sat for over 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged and asked if we wanted something to drink During the meal we had to practically beg for our water and my diet coke to be refilled. The bread they bring you was not flavorful and tasted like white bread. Ordered the Rhode Island Fried Calamari and it was just okay. Not very flavorful. It was not heavily fried which was nice. The marinara sauce with it was tasty but the oil floating on top sure was a turn off. I had the lasagna with meat sauce and it was very tasty, but again lots of oil floating in it. My hubby had the Chicken special which was grilled chicken breast with grilled vegetables and he said it was tasty. The Cannoli we had for desert was very good. Over all the prices are good, the service really needs improving and the food was good. I'd consider coming back again when back in the area but it would not be my first choice. read more

I'm grinning as I write this because I've just read through all the other reviews, and it's remarkable to me that (for the dine-in customers, anyway) most of the reviewers have it spot-on...the detractors AND the admirers. Let's get this out of the way; Pellicci's isn't trendy, with dazzling decor, "the right address", a youthful vibe, craft cocktails, or a sophisticated wine list. "Being seen" there isn't going help you level up in your social circle or impress your date. Haute cuisine is not their thing. What it is, is an old-school Italian restaurant (think checkered tablecloths, candles stuck in Fiasco bottles, old autographed photos of celebrities on the walls) with a warm, comfortable feel (conducive to conversation) and experienced, pleasant staff, serving up generous portions of Italian food like your grandmother used to make, at very reasonable prices. When I started working in Stamford, I noticed that there were a number of folks in our building who went out for lunch regularly, and often met up with acquaintances from other offices in town. I finally had to ask, "How can you guys afford to eat out around here?" They took me to Pellicci's, and the rest is history. I've never had a bad meal there. Fresh, crusty Italian bread. The pizza is very good; thin and crispy, more like New Haven-style than New York. The Chicken Scarpiello is a favorite...we've had meals with six folks and four of them order the Chicken Scarp without even looking at the menu. The staff always asks if you prefer sweet peppers, hot, or a mixture of the two. The pasta dishes have been consistent, not dried out or mushy and overcooked. The fried calamari is reasonably sweet and tender, and I like that they offer it "Rhode Island style", in a light sauce with peppers. They offer some interesting "non-Italian" menu items as well, such as crab cakes (excellent), lobster (haven't tried it), and king crab legs (haven't tried them). The last time I was there, I had an eight ounce prime burger, which was excellent, juicy and cooked perfectly to order, and included house-made fresh, hot potato chips. I can't remember the last time I got fresh chips in a restaurant, but I can tell you, they certainly didn't come with a half-pound prime beef burger for nine bucks. Good food, reasonably priced, with good service, in a clean, welcoming environment with a big parking lot, great for a big family or business lunch. When you arrive at this nondescript windowless establishment in a semi-dodgy neighborhood in Stamford's west end, you are greeted by professional valet parking. Hmmm. Entrance. Greeted by proprietors and art of various styles and quality. Interesting. Bar area and casual dining up front. Lots of nooks and crannies. I didn't eat the pizza. Kids loved it. The baked chicken and potatoes is the house specialty, very good. sausage and peppers, very good. I took away with me the off the menu Veal Saltimbocca. Top Notch, but not quite Cafe Silvium. The Broccoli Rabe pretty good too. This is a nice place for a traditional checkered table Tri-state italian meal. Expect to spend about $35-40 a person with drinks. I'm here for a local business meeting. Came in from the West Coast. I'm originally from Brooklyn so I was looking forward to some decent Italian while here on the East Coast. Pellicci's came highly recommended from the hotel as well. The food was fair at best. The chicken Parmesan came very cold but the pasta came very hot. I asked the driver was there plasticware in The bag and he assured me it was in the bag, as I been burned before. He was correct there were three Forks. It's very difficult to spread butter on bread or cut chicken Parmesan with forks. Especially cheap plastic ones. Had to use two forks and eat the chicken Parm like it was corn on the cob. Next time will just order the chicken Parmesan sandwich from the local pizza place at 1/3 the price. Maybe if you go inside the restaurant you get evenly heated food and real cutlery of course. But since I didn't have a vehicle, delivery was my only option. As it would've doubled the price. Use caution if you're ordering for delivery. Or make sure you check the bag and the food before you let the driver go. read more

We heard about Pelicci's from a local high school student who sold us a discount card for many places here in Stamford. We just moved to the area and are not familiar at all with any place around here. He spoke so highly of Pelicci's so we decided to give it a try for my birthday dinner. I had the veal parm....the sauce was amazing and the veal was great! Sometimes it can be tough but this was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the linguine with clams and he loved it. I feel like usually that dish has only a few clams, but his had at least 15! It was overflowing the dish they gave him for the shells. Then for dessert I has the carrot cake - no complaints there. My boyfriend had apple pie ala mode that he devoured! We had such a nice server and she always made sure my wine glass was filled which was great! Their house salad with their secret creamy balsamic house dressing makes their salad one my faves, and a must-order each time my family visits. HOT WINGS! HOT WINGS! The best kept secret in plain sight on their menu. I came here one night with my family, but wasn't in the mood for Italian, so I ordered the wings - OMG out of this world. Hands down my favorite of any place. Homemade italian-like sharp, tangy, sweet heat - just the best. Ask for a side of blue cheese, it doesn't come with it. You'll go through a ton of bread because the sauce is so outrageous. My favorite dinners: mussels over pasta, cappellini Butera, penne gorgonzola, meatball grinder with extra sauce, NY Strip with a side of fettuccine Alfredo ... and if you're there with a crowd, you CAN'T go wrong with just the simple Family-Style Original option (although I swap the anchovy-pepper salad for a tomato mozzarella instead).
