Bought my most favorite glove and a set of balls here before playing one weekend a while back. This little gem is across the street from Safeway on El camino and can be a bit difficult to get to, given the traffic, but is well worth it. Until today, I have been swingin' Ping S59 blades, Taylormade r7, Callaway Steelhead 3 & 5 Wood & Callaway Tuttle Putter. Approx 2 weeks ago, I went to see Paul at PG to get fitted for new clubs. Within minutes of meeting Paul there was no doubt this guy knew what he was talking about. Short story long... he set me up with new Callaway Mavriks 4-PW/AW & Cleveland SW & LW and one beautiful Ping Hoofer stand bag. I picked them up from him, drove straight to the range and all I can say is WOW!! I was floored. I was crushing every club, including the 4 iron which I gave up on with my old set. In the market to get my sticks re-gripped before shipping them off to sweaty Southeast Asia, I came across Peninsula Golf when perusing Yelp to find an alternative to the soul-less corporate alternatives. I took my irons and my favorite driver (all of which had completely worn out cable grips) and told Paul I was looking for the tackiest new grips I could get. Tacky like sticky, not tacky like naked-lady tees. Paul cheerfully showed me exactly what I wanted and told me he could turn them around in a few days. Since I'm the sort of guy who believes in asking for deals (hey, you don't get if you don't ask), I said something to Paul along the lines of "what can you do for me on price?". His response? I don't charge a lot for re-grips - just $5 per club. Man, you can't even get a hot dog at the turn for 5 bucks anymore. What a deal. Three days later, I came by his shop, grabbed my tacky clubs, and was out of there in less than 3 minutes. I am embarrassed that I forgot to look to Peninsula Golf when searching for my putter earlier this month. Thankfully, my friends did not, when they pitched in and bought one for me from Peninsula. I can only echo what everyone else has been saying. Went to this shop on Thursday with friends visiting from Germany and needing certain clubs in a certain price range. Although the shop was buzzing with customers, Paul took all the time in the world to make calls to several stores, since he didn't have the right size club my friend needed. Through a "divine intervention" - called UPS - one set of the right size clubs arrived just as we had left the store, and Paul came looking for us outside the store. The place is very colorful. It's seems like the back door of the place is open somedays. I popped in just around lunch time on a Saturday as I'm in the market for a mid priced set of clubs. I only stayed for 5 mins because the store was cluttered, disorganised and cramped. Kinda felt I was in the stock room. There was a guy behind the counter on the phone and someone else swinging at golf balls in the net. Neither acknowledged my presence, and instead started talking to the young family that came in after me.
